Only known this as a pub , but does have accommodation, so believe correct place . Do not look at past reviews as just been taken on this year by new landlords and as had a totally new kitchen put in , only just open for food . The teriyaki pork belly was gorgeous and my partner , always rates a pub by its ham egg and chips . ( they will be doing more up market food In their restaurant once open ). The crumble was in the most delicious pastry , quite unexpected :) . All in all a great experience , complimented by being reasonably priced, with good wine and of course no pub is the same without wonderful staff .

New owners took over the Greyhound. In January 2024 and opened on good Friday. It is not a hotel. Pub has been renovated to a high standard, friendly welcoming owner's. The kitchen will be ready soon for food and renovating beer garden. Owners have big plans for this pub, live music and a jam night 3rd Tuesday of every month that is open to all. Love this place

This property is under construction, and it's not possible to get a hold of them. I have a reservation for 2 nights at the end of August, and if my friends were to witness the hotel being closed, I would find myself in a very interesting situation, being in a foreign country with nowhere to stay. This is the worst accommodation we have ever stayed in over the past 40 years. It is terrible. In a converted garage with one small window, the carpet is filthy. The bed mattress is uncomfortable, thin and squeaks every time you turn. The noise from people walking in the room above is loud. The towels are hard and thin resembling sand paper. The bathroom is in a poor condition with a small shower and a hole in the tiles around the shower controls. There is mould and dirt around the base of the shower. The furniture is outdated and shabby, The whole place looks neglected and needs a total refurbishment. DO NOT BOOK HERE. Like the previous review, we didn't do our research and look at trip advisor before booking to our cost.

Do not book this accommodation. Absolutely filthy. Broken lampshades. Hole in shower cubicle wall. Very strong smell of dogs and mould. Towels were dirty. Ironing board unusable and typical of the general standard of cleanliness. Heater not working. The owner/manager wasn’t there for our check in. There was obviously a heavy drinking session going on in the bar, the staff were helpful but clearly embarrassed and in agreement with the state of the room. We were then taken outside to a converted garage which was our accommodation. It’s nothing like the photo on the website. It would have been impossible to stay there. We spoke with the staff, cancelled our booking and found an alternate. Staff assured us that we would receive a refund. Have emailed Jonathan Gilbert several times and left voice messages-no reply. Such a dump in such a pretty village. Sadly we didn’t check other reviews before booking. Plenty of other options.

Just got back from a lovely meal in the Greyhound Inn. It was very quiet considering it is Valentine's Day. We were given a nice, cosy table in the corner by a crackling fire. The food was delicious. We had a starter and main each and were both too full for a pud. The lady who was serving was very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The chef also pulled out all the stops to make us a delicious apple crumble (taken off the menu) - thanks to a neighbour who was able to supply the apples. To which when we asked what white wines they had, he continued to tell us only two of the different five bottles that were in the fridge, because clearly we was taking up too much of his time. The only negative was how long it took to get our food! It was staggering must have been forty five minutes for eight meals and the pub was quiet, i think we were the only table waiting for food. We also turned up without booking and waited half an hour for food - not unreasonable given the number of people eating and really, given how good and fresh it was I would rather wait a little while than have food which is 'instant' - I was aware that some people were complaining but concensus of others in the restaurant was that this was not appropriate Whatever - our experience was excellent

We live in Wadhurst and when we can go to the Greyhound usually to have a nice lunch and a few drinks, we don't go every week but when we do we spend a decent amount of money.Since the change in management we have been quite a few times, the menu is a bit boring now but the food is still good. We both work every weekend but when we get a rare Sunday off we go for a roast dinner at the Greyhound as they are excellent , we have taken many friends there and generally support it as a local business the best we can.Today we had the first Sunday off this year (apart from holidays away) and decided to go for a roast dinner. As there is only two of us we didn't book but knew we should get there early as their Sunday roasts are popular. We arrived at 12.30pm, there were a couple of tables full in the restaurant area, maybe 6 people, people just drinking outside and inside two reserved tables (9 reservations total) and the other tables were empty. We sat down, studied the menu and then my husband went up to order food and get drinks, he came back with the drinks and told me that they couldn't take a food order from us until 1.30-2pm , I didn't understand, he said it was because they had bookings. I pointed out that the bookings weren't here and he suggested I talk to one of the surly girls behind the bar.I did, I asked whether we were guaranteed to get a meal if we waited and hour to get food, dark haired girl said no, blonde girl said yes but we couldn't order our food before 2pm, I asked why not and she said bookings come first, I said we got here early , again she said bookings come first. We finished our drinks and left.If we had arrived when the restaurant and pub were full I would understand, normally you are told there will be a delay, if there was a sign saying "we only serve Sunday lunch to bookings" I would have booked. Two people coming into a pub for a Sunday lunch when the pub is empty should be served. One of the bookings turned up when we were having our drinks, half an hour after they refused to serve us, they could have served us food in that time.No food went out all the time we were there and no orders went to the kitchen.I am absolutely appalled by the service and their ridiculous lack of management and planning, incapable of serving a walk in Sunday roast to a couple, you are in the wrong job.I wonder what would have happened if I had phoned that morning and booked a table for two for 12.30pm would they have been able to serve us then.I will no longer recommend this pub, thanks for ruining our first Sunday off since January ( when we walked in to your pub with two friends and had a Sunday lunch WITHOUT booking SHOCK), thanks for the lack of empathy and customer service skills your staff have.We will take our money elsewhere in future.

As a family, this has been one of our favourite places to eat. The last time we did so was in September 2015 when we had a good experience. However we chose to do the same in June 2016 for Father's Day. Unfortunately it was not a pleasant experience! We booked a late table to avoid the peak Father's Day rush. Last time a varied menu and wine list was brought to the table, this time there was a very limited menu which we had to hunt for ourselves. There was little on the menu apart from roast dinners which all four of us ended up ordering even though we had been looking forward to having something different than we would have on a typical Sunday at home. THE FOOD TOOK OVER AN HOUR to arrive. I had the lamb which was nicely cooked but cold, with very little gravy. Apparently the beef was the same, nicely cooked but luke warm. The nut roast was over cooked and a little burnt. By this time we were SO hungry we did not want to wait for it to be reheated. The veg was ok but the portions were small. We were very disappointed. It would have been better for us to have had a carvery or bar meal elsewhere but for this the Greyhound charges restaurant prices.Throughout the meal, a young woman behind the bar was incredibly loud and chatted incessantly with colleagues which intruded on any conversation. The only break from the constant loud joking and chatting was when she went outside for a cigarette. The whole experience was not good.

Popped in as we were parked behind in the free public car park, so rare. It was National Fish and Chip day so it would have seemed churlish not to partake. The food and Harveys bitter were good, staff friendly with banter. There was just something slightly strange with the ambiance that I cannot put a finger on that meant the mark down.

Such a lovely pub. We started here with a wonderful breakfast. The chef kindly fitted us in even though they seem to only usually have people staying in their B&B having breakfast. He was attentive and friendly. We then went for a 3 hour walk and came back here for a cold drink and bag of nuts. We had popped into the nearby White Hart as it was closer to our car and we only really wanted a drink but on opening the door we felt as though we'd intruded into someone's private living room so hastily left and went to the friendly Greyhound. Several people were ordering lunch but we were still full from breakfast. We are planning on a return visit in the near future.

I recently organised my wife's birthday meal at the Greyhound, having 12 of us round one cold evening in April. The pub had just changed hands and the chap I was organising it all through had just flown off on holiday, so I was a bit apprehensive that it would all go well but the new owners really know what they are doing. The room was warm and cozy, the food excellent and Josh the manager was fantastic, as were all the staff. An excellent evening and one of the best meals I've ever had in a pub. My steak was just right, the wine flowed and the overall price was also surprisingly good value. One of our friends has a lot of food allergies so they went out of their way to cook her exactly what she wanted. Highly recommended if you are in Wadhurst. In my opinion, the Greyhound is the best pub in the Tunbridge Wells area.

Had lunch at The Greyhound in Wadhurst. Ample free public car park at the rear of the pub.Despite an extremely loud, almost caricature, shaven-headed cockney geezer broadcasting his conversation to the entire pub, a very good lunch at a great price. Also, excellent Harveys bitter. An unpretentious old-style pub, with good food.

Enjoyed a lovely Sunday lunch .8 adult family members. A good choice on offer including the traditional roasts. 2 vegetarian but roasts, 1 bowl of mussels and 5 traditional roast dinners later we were all well fed and content. Well kept ales are on offer. Service was friendly and efficient. 3 open fires burning kept comfortable temperature and there was a happy and relaxed atmosphere. First time but would definitely go again.

This by rights should be a really amazing pub - village centre, very pretty, roaring inglenook fireplace place, huge garden. However, and obviously given the very sad events of recent times, the pub has seen a lot of upheaval. It just has a very transitional feel - the current manager seems an ok guy but a bit disorganised and over his head. Several friends have complained of double-bookings of events, the pub looking messy - the worst part at the moment is some of the bar staff, who are really surly and one of them is extremely, extremely rude! Hopefully. it will turn a corner, it is just a shame because it can be a great night - at the moment it looks festive and stuff but just doesn't have the same feel. a shame.

In the end, it's standard pub grub, but it's very well done - this time I had a version burger, which was really good, and I was deeply envious of my friend's garlic prawns. The sharing boards looked good too

Very popular village pub providing a central entertainment facility for Wadhurst village with its diverse clientele and extensive outside seating areas. A hub of activity on a sunny day but equally on a snowbound day with roaring inglenook fires! Good range of quality food and excellent overnight accommodation facilities

We use the Greyhound regularly and I think it is a great village / country pub - " a real pub" as a friend from London said. It's always part of any event going on in Wadhurst and that's as it should be.Shula and Dan have made it family friendly in the garden but if children aren't your thing you can sit at the front and enjoy the sunshine. The seafood is always excellent which is deep joy for me and any changes you might ask for to the presentation - different sauces etc - happily accommodated.Steaks are great too.Sunday lunches to be recommended. Theres a friendly welcome for everyone and their dogs and of course in the winter lovely fires. We've used the B and B a few times and that's comfortable and with a great breakfast. As a wine drinker as well as an ale fan I love the fact you can get really nice wine by the glass and although gin isn't on my usual menu I am planning to try those unusual choices one day.....probably have to book the B and B again...

We had a fantastic lunch on Friday 10th July, there were 5 of us – we always take our work colleagues out for lunch at the end of the week – most times we go to the greyhound. The food was fantastic, a few of us had the salmon with Soy Noodles and Pak Choi which was melt in the mouth and loads of it. We sat in the garden, it was real sun trap. The service was spot on the owners Dan and Shula was as usual full of fun and laughter and took time to join in the conversation. It’s so nice to have a big open pub garden in the centre of WadHurst, away from the high street traffic – perfect end to the week. Definitely the best pub and food in Wadhurst by miles. We shall return again as usual.

We often go to the greyhound and have always had a lovely time. The fish and chips are fantastic! The recent beer festival put on was a master class! The garden is child friendly and has lots of space so never feels crowded. The Sunday lunch is also second to none. Reading above reviews, I, personally can never understand the point of trying to damage a family run business. The greyhound will always be our Sunday lunch pub!

I was lucky enough to have The Greyhound as my local pub for three years from 2010, and I could not have asked for more. It's a great family pub with a fabulous garden and Dan and Shula look after their customers in the same way as they look after their ales; perfectly.Since moving a few miles away to Crowborough in 2013, we've tried some other pubs and restaurants for Sunday lunch including the Middle House and the Mark Cross Inn, and I can honestly say that whilst the competition is tough, The Greyhound Roast comes up trumps every time. Fantastic cuts of local meat, a great range of seasonal vegetables (not just frozen peas and carrots as you get in some places) and the biggest, fattest, roast potatoes and Yorkshire Puddings you'll find in the South East. Clearly, no roast would complete without a nice drink to wash it down, and the wine list does not disappoint! All of the wines are served by the glass, so if you fancy a Malbec or a Sancerre you need not buy the whole bottle (although we usually do!).For those with a sweet tooth you're guaranteed to be torn between dessert as they all look very tempting, however I always go for the Sussex cheese selection with a glass or two of port!Suffice to say, I will be coming back to you very soon!!

We love this pub - it strives to be part of the village and holds different festivals to try and be what it really is: a village pub. The roasts are some of the best in the Wadhurst area...really good. It is a little dark sometimes, but then it is what it is - an old pub.

Quite a number of our family were here to raise a glass for my brother David. The spread of finger food was really good and so much that we were given takeaway boxes. The service was spot on.
