Zaal Takeaway in Wealden

Ordered by phone a takeaway to pick up. We were doing 2 seperate orders and lady on the phone was very friendly and efficient. There was a 5% reduction for picking food up. The food was hot and smelt good. Rice, chips, breads and onion bhajees were good. Pathia curries lacked flavour but chicken was tender. Complimentary poppadams and onion salad was a nice touch.

What has happened? Terrible quality all sauce and no veg or meat. Previously a go to but not anymore. Is this what is happening with the cost of living?

I have unfortunately only used Zaal a couple of times as I am the only one who eats Indian food in the house But whenever I have ordered the food has been excellent, Full of Flavour and decent Spice level

We use Zaal regularly and have usually been happy. Except recently and again tonight, it was dreadful. A prawn Biriyani dish that is usually flavoursome and a delight was, at best, reheated stodge. No flavour, rice-pudding-like texture and frankly after two mouthfuls I was done. My husband’s meal was equally poor. We won’t be returning. I don’t know if they have changed chef, management or what has gone on there. But trust me. Do not bother. Such a shame.

The food was worse than any supermarket TV dinner: far too sweet with bright colouring to the korma and tikka massala that shouted “artificial colours and flavours”. My saag paneer was inedible…and for me that is a first. I can only assume the reviews claiming this is the best in Crowborough were being ironic!

Wide menu selection, great tasting food and amazing value! Always deliver on time, especially when I pre order! Really friendly staff. Just can't fault it! Highly recommend!! 5 STARS!

Although we have lived here for some time now, we have not tried this takeaway before. Probably because we prefer to eat out to be fair. However, three weeks in to self isolating and yet another dinner of two week old carrots and a block of cheese was starting to wear a bit thin! Ordering on line, and paying on line, was quick and easy. The delivery driver arrived exactly on time and stood a respectful distance at the bottom of our driveway after ringing the bell which was much appreciated! As a vegetarian i do struggle a lot with some Indian meals I have to say. I have found many strange things in my curries over the years, although brussel sprouts probably tops the strangest and most unappealing item However, we ordered two main vegetarian dishes and one vegetarian side dish. All three were very different in terms of taste and what they had in them. Spicy but not too spicy. Lots of interesting (and appropriate) vegetables and the sauces for each were thick and rich, not runny and oily.Definitely the best onion bhajis we have tasted for a very long time.It is such a good find! We will certainly order again. Many thanks to the staff who continue to work and deliver in these uncertain times.

Birthday dinner with the family, amidst the lock down. A mixture of veggie and meat, spicy and mild and everything was delicious. Delivered bang on time and complete. Very good! Very good. Recommended.

Food is a good price , delivery pretty prompt. Hot food when delivered. Staff are very friendly. Chicken has been a bit dry sometimes but flavours are good. Always quick to replace an item

As per the title, best Indian takeaway I've come across in Crowborough. The bread, the curry, the sides, all fantastic.

Having been a loyal customer to the Zaal since it opened I have found recently that the standards are slipping normally I would give them a big fat 5 stars but now I am struggling to give them three just hope they rectify this and get back to the level they were at six months ago.I now use other takeaway outlets for my curries.

So.... After my last review I thought I’d leave it a while and then try Zaal out again. Things have improved I’m glad to say... Much better and tasted great

What has happened !?!We used to order only from here all the time, not now! We odered two medium curries, one laced with chillies the other tasteless.The chillie one was full of tomoats and chillies, We could not even eat it!This curry house used to be special with spices and heat that we could eat.

Always used Zaal in the past for takeaways and delivered food BUT the last few times have been a real let down?I’m unsure if chef has changed but it’s too hot now and the taste is different, tastes blander than before? This has made me try another takeaway (Rose of Bengal) and they blew me away with the taste and they deliver (Sun-Thurs) rose of Bengal from now on I’m afraid chaps!

I like Indian food and this was one of the best I've ever had. Friendly on the phone, friendly when they delivered and amazing food. Even hubby, who isn't a huge fan really enjoyed it. Definitely recommend.

Ordered online, delivered 30 mins faster than estimated time. Food was hot when delivered, portion sizes were excellent and food was very well flavoured. Will use again!

Had a takeaway the other night with a great selection of food. A feast! Came to around £40 for three of us. Will use again!!
