I ordered two portions of small chips during the daytime, and sat down while waiting for them to be cooked. I observed the chips being taken from a bucket, placed in the sink, and then transferred from the sink to the fry basket. I also saw the same sink being used to wash hands afterward. When I received the chips and tried them, they had a very strange taste that I couldn't identify, but it was very unpleasant. I suspect some form of cross-contamination. Additionally, the service was unwelcoming, and I felt like a nuisance for ordering. Avoid!!

Excellent food as always, love how I can have a proper decent kebab and my fiancé can have proper decent fish and chips from the same shop. No compromise at all on quality of either.

Had an amazing experience at Fish & Grill The kebabs were flavourful and the portions generous. The staff were friendly and accommodating. Great value for money. Highly recommend!

Ordered fish and chips. The fish was good but the chips looked and tasted like they had been reheated from earlier. Maybe the oil needs changing or the potatoes are poor quality!

The driver forgot my drink I was not going to complain but 10 mins later know at the door there’s my drink too man for coming back out unprompted

This place has something for everyone - great kebabs and fish n chips combined?!? They manage it! Both are authentic, fresh, tasty and good value - recommended without reservation but remember cash if you are ordering in the shop - card if you order on line

Great quality, crispy fish, delicious chips, portion size was good. Reasonably priced. Only criticism is that it only takes cash.

Sorry, you really need to improve. That was by far one of the most shocking things ever served up via takeaway. I had to bin it, based on taste and how it was cooked, Gillian McKeith has gone through better in a toilet! Just shocking for £33!

Echoing other reviews, slow, bad attitude, rude service. Food ok but not worth the wait or the sense of having been such an an inconvenience to the staff by ordering a single fish and chips.

Uckfield Fish and Grill used to be the go to takeaway for quality food, great kebabs, lovely fish and well cooked tasty chips. I'm not sure what is going on at the moment but the prices have increased (sort of don't mind this as I know things are challenging for small high street businesses) and the quality was really bad, which there is zero excuse for. The "normal" cod we got was the size of a fishcake, the chips were overdone on the outside but many were hard in the middle (and lacked taste!). My daughters chicken nuggets were shockingly bad, clearly from Tescos frozen section and no way near the quality nuggets we used to get. We may as well buy frozen ones and cook them at home. Many more for a fraction of the price! The cheese was cheap and sickly. My Pukka Pie was reasonable though. I sincerely hope this is not about just cutting corners to maximize profit, if it is they will not be open in 6 months.

Impressive food , this the 2nd time I have ordered food from them and they were delicious and nicely prepared, specially the kebabs which are cooked in the clay oven . The bread needs to be just a bit bigger or thicker and that makes everything perfect. Good work

Arrived just after they opened had to wait 20 minutes for a small chips. While waiting another couple came in and started ordering about £30 worth of food and half way though ordering the sever answered his phone and walked off. They then left and so did the guy behind. My recommendation would be don't answer your phone while working and maybe turn everything on about 30 minutes before opening so you are ready to sever from minute one.

Normally have this delivered but driving through town decided to go in and order, online you can pay with a card, but in the shop cash only. So had to go and find a cash point. Ordered two chicken kebabs with salad Once unwrapped at home, they don’t give you a pitta bread it’s s cheap thin tortilla wrap, so with the meat and limp salad the wrap was soggy. Why they think that putting hot chicken onto the salad will result in a nice kebab, they are mistaken all soggy limp and wet!!! Won’t ever return to this place it’s horrible

UFG sell clay oven doners in flatbread wraps, rather than rotisserie doners pita bread, which was not what I was expecting. Quite tasty, but not the same.

This place ‘used’ to serve the best kebabs in town with fresh, baked on the premise, pitta bread, succulent lamb and fresh salad Today my kebab consisted of some admittedly tasty lamb filled with some soggy old salad inside a store bought thin ‘tortilla’ wrap? A burrito kebab :/ When I asked why it was explained because fresh ones took too long to make. The guy serving has a pretty poor customer persona. Almost threatening! With the cost of living problems prices have increased over and above that of other restaurants with a pretty outdated letter attached to the sneeze screen explaining from their suppliers the price rises. PS wholesale prices are actually falling.

It was smashing. All the men are kind and witty ( which is great) and food is amazing. I recommend the donner kebab with all salad

Placed an order online said it would be 90 mins waited over 2 hrs and half the order not arrived contacted them and said sorry will send next time . Won't use again

The food here isn't the very best but is still pretty good. If you want the best burger or kebab go somewhere that does just that but if you want a variety in the order this place is your go to. Food has always been on time and delivered hot. Was teetering between 4/5 stars but I think for now the reliability I've had from them pushes it to a 5. Should that change I'll revise my rating.

Chips were OK but both fish& batter were very dry& chewy! It was like eating a lump of wood! I had to eat it with a cup of tea. I regret eating it instead of binning it.

The quality of the food was pretty good but I was very disappointed to see none of the staff wearing masks. I understand some people may be exempt but I doubt all of them were exempt. I did not feel comfortable inside the premises and will not be returning again. They were leaning over the counter and shouting at customers. It was not a pleasant experience and nothing seemed hygienic

The best fish and chips in uckfield, I don't know about you but I can't stand albino soft soggy chips and you definitely don't get them here , nothing is too much for these guys if you want re cook chips so they double cooked crispy this is the place to go, they also do excellent kebabs as well, they will only accept cash no card payments. If you find this of any help please give me the thumbs up

Some of best fish and chips ever had

The best doner kebab that I've had, bar none! Not the usual "elephant's leg", but made up onto skewers and cooked fresh. The other kebabs are equally good, and the staff friendly.

Horrible food, looks like it was put together inside of a blender, when called to complain i was told to 'shut up, why did you order here' Took it back to the shop, though i know they couldn't take it back - they didn't even want to look at it, proceeded to try to intimidate me and abuse me with a barrage of redundant questions and answers, then was told to leave the shop, would highly recommend not ordering from this place, vile staff, bad hygiene (no gloves or masks) and even worse food.

Delicious food!! Kids meal was just right, kebabs were really fresh tasting, not at all greasy, was perfect

Wife went in to get two cod roe and chips. One of the pieces of roe measured just over 1.3 cm in thickness. The other was about 1.9 cm. now I know you will be saying why is he measuring his food? But when other fish n chip shops cut their roe about 3 + cm on average. This is just pure penny pinching and absolutely lowest of the low.

The man with the blue eyes is helpful, communicative, responsive, fast and efficient. The slob with the dark greasy hair was rude as soon as I walked in and said hello! “Wot you want” was the greeting, I checked the menus and asked him for a sec, when I was ready I made eye contact and ordered. He made me repeat myself three times (which was fine I’m patient), however when I simply asked if they had a specific sauce I was ignored as he was watching the Turkish footie on tv. I asked again in case the mask muffled my voice, and he replied “don’t worry about the sauce, it’s not even ready love!” I sat and waited. I felt that this man was sexist, he made me feel like how dare I speak to him. I haven’t encountered this kind of bigot in a lonnng time. He was putting some salad together (which I thought might be my order), and I asked him three times if I could have some chillis please - because I was ordering food from them, and he rolled his eyes and told me “this isn’t yours!” I didn’t know whose it was, I was just asking for “some chillis in MY order please”! The ten minutes I spent in this establishment is the last time I’ll ever step foot in there, ladies beware. Sorry to the man with the blue eyes for having to work in this negative tense atmosphere with the man with the greasy hair and bad attitude, unhelpful lacklustre character and gritty personality. He has NO customer service why is he in that job?! Take your money elsewhere food was shockingly poor. Fish & Chips OK, reformed chicken mega salty, soggy salad mega salty, poor quality TERRIBLE SERVICE.

Dank chips n chicken kebab when ya hungry. Was bonfire night and I was ver hungry saw this place and grabbed the munch

The kebab was pressed meat on a skewer rather than the normal "elephants leg" and it was horrible - tough and leathery, and altogether very unpleasant. Won't ever be coming here again.

Long wait, attitude of servers stinks! Pretty sure its because Im female and dared to speak up! However, food good even after 30 minutes waiting in shop and all the glares! But kebab in a wrap ? No choice of pitta regardless!..... Hmm! ....Think I'll go h hungry next time !

On holiday had been to the cinema. Fanced some chips open late at night. Superb chips not greasy. Kebabs and food looked very good.

Best place for a kebab, the best kebab I've ever had and the chips are delicious too.

Good kebabs but missing stuff from our order and took over half an hour to sort at which point we had finished then she had to eat her missing stuff. Not great service.

Used to be our first choice for a takeaway every week when minimum spend for home delivery was a tenner. Now they want minimum £15 spend we will think twice before ordering now. It's a shame, now we will be required to buy something we don't need if we want home delivery so we definitely won't be getting takeaways from here as often

We have used Uckfield Fish and Grill numerous times over the last few years and we have always had good food, good service and no complaints. Fish and Chips is excellent, far superior in my opinion to the others in Uckfield.The kebabs are also very good, especially the chicken kebab.

Great kebab, loads of meat,friendly service,great value. Wish now I'd chosen the extra large (will do next time)

Great value and one if the nicest Donna kebabs ever. No greasy elephant leg here just tasty meat. Same with the chicken kebab and even the burgers are good. Service is clean and friendly definitely my top choice for takeaway in uckfield.

I can honestly say this is the best chicken and doner combo I have eaten, good meat, the doner is cooked In a clay oven rather than carved off of a big piece of rotating meatGood choice of salad and sauces, the chips aren't always the best but a pot of the optional gravy helps!!I also find the staff really friendly and soon seem to recognise the regulars!!

First time for Fish & Chips, ordered Large Cod, Large Chips and battered sausage, when unwrapped at home the Cod was only just bigger than the battered sausage, if it hadn't tasted of Cod would have sworn it was Goldfish or Sprat to look at!!!!Never going back!!!

All are freshly grilled and therefore fresh and hot. Salad is fresh not limp. Chips are not re-heated.

Reasonably priced, big portions, tasty food. Good selection (including veggie option), we all enjoyed it! Scrummy 😀

Fantastic customer service & food is amazing

We get a takeaway from these guys probably three times a month. They're the only people who deliver to our area and we have been using them for about 2 years now.Lovely staff, always friendly and the owner often delivers our grub which is great! The food is standard kebab-style takeaway but the falafel and houmous wrap is amazing. I'd also recommend getting a pizza - it's really thin and crisp and bloody lovely.

Disgusting. Food turned up soggy, meat was horrific. After a phonecall we were still refused a refund. Never ordering again.

Myself and my husband count this as one of our favourite places ever for food . When you go in you are welcomed with a genuine smile and your order is swiftly taken . All food is freshly coooked and anything in pitta the pitta is handmade and just delicious . The food is always hot and a good price they also do great children's meals and always make sure they say hello to my son and he loves it . I can say this place is a gem and anyone wanting take away should try this place .

Quick midweek takeaway for a family treat. Big piece of tasty, nicely cooked cod and chips that weren't greasy at all. The doner kebab was also very tasty and filled with good taking meat and salad.Good value, home delivery and tasty food, would recommend for sure.
