The best restaurants in Alfriston Wealden South East

Our family live in various parts of the country and arranged to meet here at the Berwick Tea Rooms in memory of our late Mum. We weren't disappointed, we had the most delicious afternoon tea. The lovely Georgie made us very welcome and catered for all the family dietary requirements. We also had the canine division of the family with us -lovely Luna and adorable Diesel both were well behaved and were also catered for. The food was delicious. I can't select one particular favourite as everything was brilliant. Thankyou for such a delicious spread x

As a food truck it was a great idea. Offering different food options than the pub, the pizza team are so much fun and chatted to us while we waited for them to prepare our pizza right in front of us. And it was so full of flavours, a good dose of garlic in the sauce. Highly recommend as the are also operating at different venues in the area.

Wow! A brilliant dining experience amongst the rolling hills of Sussex. Quite wonderful food, very good wine and great staff. Highly recommended

Great food, superb setting, friendly and knowledgeable staff, we can't wait to go back!

Good food although not particularly cheap for the quality and portion size, bearing in mind the competition from elsewhere in the village. We really enjoyed starters of carrot bhaji and scallops…. Whilst rather small in size they both packed unusual, delicious and great flavour and we actually preferred these dishes to our main courses of lamb rump and aubergine with polenta. It’s a pleasant dining room but a little lacking in atmosphere during our visit.

A lovely pub with excellent food with friendly staff and a great atmosphere

I visited here with my family for cream tea and it was lovely- fresh handmade scones and friendly staff - I would recommend a visit .

After a walk from Berwick station we pop in on a Saturday just in time (well a bit late actually but they accommodated us with a smile) to catch a coffee and cake. Pity they close at 1pm on a Saturday. The staff were very friendly and the place looks and feels great. The coffee and cakes were excellent!

We went for the red panda experience and it was absolutely brilliant! The keeper was friendly and knowledgeable (sorry, can't remember his name!) and the pandas were gorgeous 🥰 First time visit for us and we really enjoyed the whole zoo. All the animals looked healthy and happy (including the new baby Sulawesi macaque!) and their enclosures were clean and spacious. Would highly recommend your zoo and we'll definitely be back. Work Christmas Party - Dec 2024 We hired The Berwick Inn to host our work Christmas party and we couldn't have been happier! Everything went so well. From the organisation, the food, the staff and very cosy Christmassy atmosphere. Zoe coordinated the party and she was so enthusiastic and came up with some lovely ideas for us to do on the night. She's a real asset to the pub. The chef put together a fantastic menu with yorkshire pudding wraps and a dessert buffet - all our employees are still talking about it over a week later! Everyone working on the night joined in with the festive cheer, welcomed our employees with festive drinks and generally made the night a success. The pub also helped us to organise the entertainment - Jonny Lewis - who performed a mix of music and got everyone dancing. I honestly couldn't recommend the pub enough for your parties. They really look after you and take any of the stress of organising away. Thank you Berwick Inn!

Fantastic Christmas Dinner last night. The food was absolutely magnificent!

My brother and I took our 94 year old mum for a special Sunday lunch at The Barley Mow. My mum is in a wheelchair and the staff took care to make sure she was comfortable and warm by the welcoming woodstove. It's a lovely old Downland pub and was festively decorated. The Sunday roasts were delicious. The veg were perfectly cooked, outstanding roasties and some lovely little extras. I opted for the veggie roast and it was so nice to be treated by something so delightfully different from nut roast (which I do like, but this stuffed squash was something else!). We were so beautifully looked after that we really didn't want to leave and anyway we couldn't resist the sticky date pudding. We were given a lovely, joyous dining experience in a beautiful, relaxed environment with high standards of cuisine, comfort and style. Well done, new owners. We'll be back! Ms Slot

Ate dinner in here after a long walk from Eastbourne in the day. There was a big party in the main area so we sat in the room with the bar, food was tasty, good portion and reasonably priced. The picture is the steak, ale and mushroom!
