Our family live in various parts of the country and arranged to meet here at the Berwick Tea Rooms in memory of our late Mum. We weren't disappointed, we had the most delicious afternoon tea. The lovely Georgie made us very welcome and catered for all the family dietary requirements. We also had the canine division of the family with us -lovely Luna and adorable Diesel both were well behaved and were also catered for. The food was delicious. I can't select one particular favourite as everything was brilliant. Thankyou for such a delicious spread x

Went there today for afternoon tea, I do not like fruit scones they gave me 2 plain my friend had one of each. Food was fantastic, we loved it everything was really good produce was top class. Staff were very helpful, Waiter was very attentive couldn't do enough for us. Crockery was very clean, not cracked (as it has been in some places we have.been too) Strongly recommend you to give it a go especially if you like afternoon tea

I drove through the pretty village of Alfriston on my way to a work appt and decided to come back for a late lunch. I was warmly welcomed and chose a table. I ordered the homemade potato and leek soup which was delicious and opted to have bread with mine. Also had a pot of tea. I see some reviews mention cost - I disagree. My meal was piping hot, very filling and home made. Very happy with the price I paid! Afterwards I had a wander round the village- really enjoyed it! See you next time x

Ordered a Stalla Artois tasted off, replaced by Camden, same flavour!! Ordered Scotch egg and black Stick with piccalilli. Sausage meat was tainted, the egg was perfectly cooked. The main course was sausage and bubble and squeak mash with parsnip crisps. Very sweet, the bubble and squeak had never seen a frying pan. (Just mash with petit pois and diced carrot) no cabbage. at all. 2 out of the 3 sausages had a tainted flavour ( on their way out) the one sausage that wasn't was excellent, the jus was nice albeit very sweet. A nice touch was a complimentary amuse bouche which was falafel with sweet red pepper. Very flavoursome although over fried.

So we went for quick Aussie Valentines dinner on 13th ( as it was already Valentines in Oz) and one of us off to Italy next day- ci sentivami Italiani. Lovely old English building with thick walls but still great wifi we could get it across the road! We live in an old stone barn and struggle with connectivity- how do they do it ?? !!! Everything so well done. Anyway we had the ravioli- pasta was 100% like my Nonna and Mum used to make in Italy- yellow- surely pasta is best from eggs from poultry with access to chlorophyll.... grass! And the aubergine lasagne- we are not vegetarians but a good restaurant that does vegetarian well ....is a really good restaurant. Staff very friendly. Bravo tutti!

My wife went to Alfriston for a walk and a light lunch and we tried the Smugglers Inn at 1.15 pm on Sunday 2nd February. After a walk to the Church and back I ordered Americano coffees and the soup of the day plus the pate on toast. Both started were wonderful. I congratulated the Chef on the soup which was parsnip, carrot and other root vegetables served with warm artesian bread. The whole meal only came to £24. I definitely will come again.
