This is regular haunt. Typically for Saturday mid-morning. This is generally very busy as next to the common. Dog-friendly and usually several about, so please take note! Very friendly and food is good. If you hit a busy point though, there will be queues at the counter and food service may be slower. You can book a table by calling in, which is advisable if on a weekend. Staff also provide table service. Great to have a non-chain cafe option where you can get to know the owner.
Terrible customer service! The person who served us (who I believe was the owner) was rude and seemed extremely irritated. I asked if one of the cakes had almonds in which seemed to annoy her greatly and she snapped that it was listed next the cake what it had in it. Quite shocking and unprofessional. Next time I'll go to Forts over the road, which has fab service!
Odd place, serving bottles of beer, but it has a cool vibe and a friendly barman. I could imagine chilling here for a few hours. In good weather plenty of seating outside.
Dora and the team pulled the stops out for the wake of my father, one of the regulars.
I had not been in for a couple of years, and it pleased me to see how popular and welcoming this jewel in Kingsgate's crown still is.
Cuisine is Thai, and was lovely.
The Gadds real ale was well kept and went down rather too well!
The pub is not large, and combined with the buildings shape that gives it its charm. A centrally positioned pool table was rarely unoccupied.
Parking is somewhat limited, with no designated car park and on a tight junction.
Wongs is my favourite Chinese.Always greeted with a smile whether i am going in or just walking past.Food has always been fantastic and yummy,i can't fault it for taste, and service is quick.
The food here is good and the views terrific. The staff were helpful and the service was good, however we came here because the pub clearly stated on their website they are dog friendly. To me, this means there is an area inside where dogs are allowed. ( like at the Botany Bay hotel along the cliff) Although dogs are allowed on the terrace outside the pub, there is no where inside they are allowed. On a dry day when we visited this was fine, but if you own a dog do not make the mistake of thinking you will be able to eat or drink inside the pub with your dog.
