We’ve not been back here for ages and it still as good as ever. Highly recommended- especially Dragon Roll.

Appalling. We were sent an email confirmation for a table for 2 at 7pm on Friday evening. We turned up and the place was completely shut and locked up, not a soul about. It seems many others have had the same experience. They seem to only open when they feel like it. Don't risk it.

Went to Kyoto last night- the first time in quite a few years. The food was very good, no complaints there, however, the restaurant was very cold, they didn't have quite a list of food and drinks and the toilet was is disrepair. It is a shame.

This was our first visit and it was perfect, the food was incredible, it was very quiet but well worth a visit. If only they were on the seafront they would have a proper passing trade and you would have to wait weeks to get food. Will definitely be going back.

Very good food with decent portion sizes. Would recommend the Bento Boxes, definitely value for money. Tempura prawns were delicious too. Will be returning

So this is a difficult one as this place has a lot of potential, or maybe I was just unlucky. Being a massive fan of Sushi I was excited to try this place as the reviews are pretty good. I do agree that the quality of food is good however, that’s where it stops…..the service was terrible. In a very quiet restaurant it took over 1 hour for my food to arrive and when it did the Tempura prawns were almost cold. My Sashimi was also delivered to the wrong table and sat there for 25 minutes before it was brought to me with a small apology. As I said before, the food is good, not amazing, but the service was poor hence the 2 stars. Waiting over an hour in a quiet restaurant for food is unacceptable, Such a shame

The food was outstanding, the sushi was the best I have had!! The chicken teriyaki Bento box was outstanding and so full of flavour. It came with a range of different things to try. The yellow pickle was amazing😍but the chicken teriyaki itself stood out to me more than anything (look and flavour wise) thank you to the chef for an amazing meal. I will definitely come again to try some more food. I would recommend 1000/10

The food here was amazing, delicious and very fresh! Easily as good as some of our favourite sushi restaurants in London. We came for dinner and the wait was long (a member of staff hadn’t turned up so the poor chef was flying solo) but it worth it given the quality of the food. Menu was a little ‘pan-Asian’ with Korean fried chicken and Chinese bao on there along with the Japanese, but it all works and is mouth watering my good. We will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu.

Disappointed by our visit. Read the great reviews and was so looking forward to trying it but overall just ok. The people serving were very sweet but we had to ask 2-3 times for drinks, soy sauce, this wasn’t their fault - they were too busy fielding the orders for takeaways while trying to serve in the restaurant. Ordered a mix of hot food and maki rolls Hot food came promptly but cancelled our order for the maki rolls after a really long wait as the “sushi chef was out doing deliveries” Perhaps employ a delivery driver?

Had a lovely experience here on Thursday night. Went to dinner with a Vegan friend. The staff were kind enough to annotate the menus before we arrived to make choosing easier. They were happy to cater for my hatred of cucumber and couldn't do enough for us. The toilet facilities were super basic but clean. The place was really quiet which was such a shame because the food was absolutely superb and the service was brilliant. I highly recommend it.

I went here with my family in lieu of a cancelled trip to Japan (Kyoto, in fact!) due to COVID-19. The food was delicious and authentic - we had Gyu Don, tempura prawns, kimchi and Kim (dried seaweed), all washed down with your standard Asahi beer. The welcome was warm and friendly - a young guy was front of house and he was the only staff member we saw - he did a great job and made it look no effort greeting, taking orders and serving the food and drink. Plenty of people were enjoying the relaxed atmosphere when we were there. A visit is highly recommended - we will certainly be going back!

Called at 12:30 before we went for lunch to check if it was opened and if we needed to book. Been told they are opened and no need to book. Travelled 45 minutes and very hungry, got there at 13:30 and been told the restaurant was closed. Very disappointed and hangry as you can tell. Food there is always good, but I don’t think I’ll go back anymore in case for further disappointment.

We’ve been here a while back and enjoyed . Wanted to go out for a meal for the eat out to help out deal and couldn’t get anywhere.thought we’d try here even though not doing the deal. Wasn’t disappointed at all . Lovely meal and very filling. Young lad on his own serving done very well. Social distancing measures in place too . Would go again definitely

I never thought that i will like this kind of food!! We visited this restaurant this for lunch with my girl. The service was really good. I was scared if I will eat everything, but I did 😂 and I really like it. We will definitely visit again.

Took recommendations from the server and was happy we did, everything tasted fresh and full of flavour. Service was fast and friendly. Only downside was slightly unpleasant drain smell on entering!

Me and my partner are big fans of japanese food and was away for a couple nights in Margate and we both carved Japanese food and found this lovely restaurant. Only one table was there when we arrived and nobody else walked in (their loss I spose) but the man who was at the desk sat us down, even complimented my shoes at the time, adn was very nice and helpful throughout. The food was great and there wasn't much of a wait either. Definitely if I am back, will return.

This is one of our go-to's local eateries. Since it first opened it has consistently served authentic, delicious, freshly cooked cuisine. The quality Kyoto is serving is what one would expect in top Japanese restaurants in London. Indeed the chef drives there several times a week to source ultra fresh fish, no corners cut, no comprises and yet the prices remain very reasonable. We have never left here disappointed nor hungry. Ramsgate probably doesn't fully appreciate what Kyoto brings to the area. If it was located near the harbour the tourists and day-trippers would blockade this unique restaurant. As it is being sited off the beaten track location is to our advantage.

The food here is really good, and the staff are lovely. I've been going here for years now. However, what i don't understand is why thier toilet is always a problem. They proudly display that they clean the toilet every hour. Yet you can't flush toilet paper in the toilet, but instead have to put it in an open bin. Gross! To make matters worse, the hand dryer is always broken, and they never have towels to dry your hands... gross! Especially when we are talking about a sushi restaurant. How long does it take to sort this stuff out? Certainly not years. Please, just sort out the toilet and it will be perfect.

Happened upon this lovely little restaurant whilst looking for a quick bite to eat. The tuna sashimi was really fresh and tasty; the chicken gyoza were some of the best I’ve had and the soft shell crab roll was full of flavour. Great service too.

We visited here for dinner while working and were really impressed with the restaurant. We had a couple of the sushi and sashimi sets which were really good - the fish was super fresh and the vegetarian set was really tasty. We had seen a few reviews that complained about slow service but it wasn't slow on our visit. As well as great food, the prices are pretty reasonable. I'd definitely eat here again.

Perfect service. Perfect food. Good portion size served quickly. Greeted by a lovely waiter who took our order quickly. Within 10mins we had our starters, which were delicious, swiftly followed by our mains. Beautifully presented. Will definitely be back!

I don't often go to Ramsgate but this was a real surprise. Chicken gyoza, edamame, Korean fried chicken, sushi/sashimi, sake.... all top notch Worth a visit, will definitely go again!

We went with 5 friends,3 of which had never had sushi or Japanese cuisine before. The food was phenomenal. Super fresh ingredients, flavours where beautiful and the presentation was authentic. Really well priced and a huge selection. You will wait to have a drinks order taken (15 plus minutes after being seated we were asked) and you may feel a little ignored but when you are visited by the waiting staff they are super friendly and helpful. We had a wheat free with us and they soldiered through to accommodate his food needs. I will be visiting regularly from now on! Who really cares if the service is a little strained and slow ( I have a feeling they also have to Help in the kitchen as they disappear a lot) when the food is this excellent! 5 stars from me x xPs they do have a service charge which personally annoys me a little as I’d rather select how and who I want to tip

My Daughter & I eagerly visited Kyoto for dinner recently. The food was great and as fresh as it should be but the waiter didn’t seem to know the menu intimately. As new diners to the restaurant and naturally we required some guidance on the menu and the specialities. Franklty, the waiter was of no help (in the nicest possible way).

We shared 2 sushi sets and some tempura prawns and everything was absolutely delicious. So happy to have this close by and fix our Japanese cravings.

Belated birthday meal out with a few friends, five of us in total. I wasn't sure what I wanted, eventually settle on the Chicken Katsu Curry and I shared the Sushi Set with one of my friends.

Saturday night, only 8 people in including us and it was early, 7pm but they ran out of ice, they ran out of beer, they only had one portion of gyoza. We ordered and one main course came out before the starters so she apologised and took it back, then returned to say could she bring it all out together as the starters were ready, then she just brought the starters, then when she brought out both mains, the one originally brought out was re-served cold!!!!! It went back to be re-heated leaving me with mine on it's own. What a shambles. While we were waiting we asked for a second beer but she said they had none left but she didn't suggest an alternative. My gin and tonic was served in a brandy glass with a splash of tonic and the lemon on the side of the glass like a prawn cocktail. The food was excellent but the waitress did not have a clue. What a shame.

Very, very slow service and often unprofessional,which cost you 10% on the top of your bill. But if you are willing to wait- the food is good.

Already planning our next visit, the food was fantastic. The waitress was a bit slow and a bit unorganised but can’t fault anything else about the place. We will be back

Visited Kyoto Ramsgate on Saturday 5th Jan for an early evening meal for 4 people. When we arrived there was only one other table occupied.

I ate dinner here with my fifteen year old son. He’s a gyoza aficionado and highly recommends the gyoza here! We also ordered salmon selection, spicy tuna and Kyoto dragon. The owner came out of the kitchen and suggested alternatives, not because they didn’t have what we ordered but because Chef said the white fish was outstanding today, which it was! Thank you for the great recommendation. The young chap working front of house was knowledgeable, friendly and extremely polite. Highly recommend this great little restaurant, extremely authentic Japanese food...I’m half Japanese and both my son and I found everything to be just how we like it

This is a simply decorated restaurant but v clean and the food is amazing. The staff and hard-working and extremely polite and the food is delicious. We had fresh crispy squid and salmon sashimi, then tuna tatami and avocado maki, as well as chicken teriyaki. Everything is beautifully presented as fresh as fresh can be. We also took home a takeaway teriyaki for our son. Highly recommended gem.

I’ve reviewed this place before but I’m back to write a better one. We can’t get enough of this place. The flavours and quality of fish are unreal. The sushi tastes so good I can’t even explain.

I visited there with a friend and had an excellent time. We were both impressed with the impeccable standard of food and presentation. The staff were attentive but not intrusive and I would highly recommend the food to anyone and it's probably the best Japanese food you can have outside of Japan.

I was apprehensive to visit this restaurant at first being half Japanese myself and having visited Japan multiple times. I was conscious of the fact that some restaurants claiming to serve Japanese food are nowhere near the standard of actual authentic food.

This little, unassuming gem on Ramsgate high street offers a great taste of Japan. Pleasant but basic surroundings with friendly staff, you don’t normally need to book. Be prepared, the service is slow and given the nature/type of ingredients not everything on the menu is available all the time but if you are prepared to over look this and be guided by the helpful staff you will always have a lovely, well priced meal. Vegan, veggie and intolerances taken care off - would recommend.

As far as I am aware this is the only Japanese restaurant in Ramsgate. Run by a Japanese family, the taste is good, presentation good and service is attentive (although a little slow). They need to take care as they tend to run out of things including bottled Ashai beer and (strangely) octopus. Otherwise this restaurant is well worth a try and has a very respectable menu.

Marvellous food enjoyed with my family this week after a long absence. Jason, as ever, produced lots of unexpected extras to our table and we enjoyed every mouthful. The most authentic restaurant this side of London. See you soon!

Have been here several times for dinner and had a couple of good take aways. The food itself is very good which is why it is such a shame that I find myself writing this review.

My boyfriend and I had this booked for weeks and we were so excited! Overall we were happy and the food was exactly how we imagined it!

We had an excellent evening at Kyoto, the quality and presentation of the food is amazing! With very helpful, knowledgeable and tentative staff, a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, we will definitely be going back.

We came all the way from London and waited for 1 hour and 10 minutes for nothing! There were my table and one other in the restaurant. The staff said the other table placed a large order so the process was slow. It didn't make sense! Why didn't you manage to serve us at least 1 dish when the other table was served plate after plate. Unbelievable waste of time and feeling! We used to be your customer but not anymore!

We have visited Kyoto grill before when visiting friends who live locally, and were surprised to find such a gem - not that Ramsgate is without its charms, quite the reverse. It's an extremely charming place.

Ignore the frontage of the restaurant. Once in side there is a lovely clean decor well spaced tables and two lovely helpful waitresses. The food is incredible we ordered quite blindly and are first dish that came out was one of the tastiest things I've ever eaten. Quickly followed by more taste sensations. Finished by plum wine just mmmm

I haven't been in Kent for a few years and so when I returned this weekend, I wanted to search for a lovely restaurant for a romantic meal. I'd read good things about this restaurant and so made a reservation. The exterior is a little drab, but goodness is the inside quaint. Amazing service from start to finish from two wonderful waitresses. The food was to die for both cooked and raw. Fantastic alcohol selection and quiet atmosphere made for a wonderful evening. I can't recommend highly enough.

Happened across this delightful restaurant by chance. Fantastic sushi and sashimi, fresh and beautifully presented. Tempura was light and crisp. The staff were enthusiastic and helpful.

First ate here a couple of years ago and was blown away. I am pleased to write they are still serving stunning sashimi.

If you love sushi thus is a must. I cannot tell you how good this place is without my mouth watering.

Living locally, we had meant to try the Kyoto for some time and finally got round to it recently. We like Japanese food and while not experts, have eaten at a fair few decent restaurants. We really wanted to like the Kyoto but overall it was a little disappointing. The service was fine but the food pretty average. The miso soup was not the best we'd had and the tuna sashimi was average. The tempura was good and the bento box generous in size but one main course came over 5 minutes before the other. The prices are fair but not cheap. Probably the best of its kind in East Kent but would struggle to hold its own in a more competitive environment. We won't rush back.

We were a party of seven and a mixture of vegans vegetarians and carnivores, but we all found we liked and mostly could share. The food is excellent and well worth the visit.

After a closure of a few months, the Kyoto is back and is as good as ever. It was a bit quiet as I don't think many people know that is has re-opened, so it is well worth another visit. I last visited in February and it was closed shortly after that (the two things are not connected!), so I have been anticipating its re-opening for some time.

I am so glad this little gem has opened again! Having had some amazing meals previously, I was delighted to see that they have recently started trading again and my boyfriend and I were eager to visit! We were not disappointed. We had a beautiful meal here this evening. Fresh, delicate sashimi platter for me, with starter of miso soup and crispy seaweed. My boyfriend had the chicken katsu curry and rice as his main dish. The service was good and the food was beautifully fresh and delicious. We ate in the restaurant, but they also do a handy takeaway service.

Ambiente muy transitada, lo cual hace difícil algunas veces para conseguir la atención del personal, pero esto fue compensado por la excelente comida. Tenía que tener la sopa miso, y el buñuelo (genial) y la calidad y la presentación de la 'mains 'era magnífico. Probé el plato de curry, pero no podía comer de todo, ya que fue demasiado para una persona. Sin duda volveremos.

I love Japanese food. When I am home in London, I have a Japanese meal at least once a week. We found this one in Ramsgate. Fantastic Sushi, and a wonderful Katsu curry. Great beers, too. Love it!

We had no idea what to expect but got excellent food, a reasonable price, lovely staff in nice surroundings. All want to make a return visit.

It was a very cold night and the restaurant wasn't warm enough. My wife kept her coat on. The food was all excellent and staff friendly but arrival of dishes was very erratic. It seemed like they were understaffed. We were only told when we came to pay that their card machine wasn't working and so they could only take cash. Despite this would still go back for the food.

Took 40 minutes anyway but had to wait an extra 15 and when I went in to collect it there was a drunk woman on the sofa who harassed my friend and I. The members of staff didn't seem to care that she was shouting at us and other customers, grabbing me and falling on me. A customer had to call the drunk woman a taxi as the staff did nothing. The food was nice but the octopus I ordered was extereley thin for what I paid for it as well.

Amazing food's quality and taste. Presentation nice and neat. Unluckily a bit too expensive for a place not as glamourous. (10% charge if you eat there).

Visited with friends one has health issues and finds it hard to find food she can eat the staff were so helpful andtook time to find suitable food even making a rice starter not on the menu The food was all very good and so was the wine The ice cream was greatThe service is slow and we were not all service at the same time The decor is odd and could really do with improvements it's a bit like a somewhere that's not finished Having said that we had a very enjoyable evening and will return

It's impossible to fault the food at Kyoto Sushi and Grill - it is truly jaw dropping in it's quality, freshness and presentation. The staff are super friendly and take the time to explain each dish to you - don't ever feel put off by the idea of having to choose dishes 'blind'. Let the staff know if you have any allergies or preferences and the chef will create the dish to suit you. I can't rate this place highly enough. However, be aware that dishes don't arrive in the order you request them i.e. starters first and mains second - just go with the flow and enjoy. When it's busy, there could be a wait for food but remember that everything is prepped from scratch and worth the wait. The lunchtime bento boxes are brilliant too. A wonderful dining experience.

Visited on a Wednesday evening to find a busy, but not, full restaurant. First time that I have returned after and evening of slow service experienced just after they opened for business. I was disappointed to find that things have not improved, we only ordered two starters and 3 main courses, for three people, everything arrived at different times, with night daughters started forgotten completely...they did say they could prepare it in 20minutes but by that time we had had enough of waiting.The food is tasty and well presented (when it arrives) and the staff are friendly and polite, but they clearly need much more management/organisation. We shall not be returning until it is a far less stressful dining experience, a real shame as Ramsgate needs more diversity in its restaurants.I have also tried to order takeaway fair recently, only to be turned away as they are 'too busy'.

Totally delicious! Worth using via just eats such great food- genuine flavours and decent amount of food. Five of us shared a variety of dishes- £20 each was more than enough!! Teriyaki beef was amazing. Volcano was great. Tempura prawns were fantastic. Sushi was amazing too. Try it out its lush!

We have just moved here and have to say this place aces anything in London. We have eaten here a few times now.....Casual style dining, but just stonkingly brilliant, well priced and as fresh as a daisy. Love love love it. Firm fave.

We visited Kyoto based on the great reviews. It was incredible. The fish was super fresh and delicious. The gyoza dumplings were the best we'd ever had. The waiting staff were incredibly sweet, if a little bit scatty, but they were so well intentioned and the food so great we didn't mind the couple of mistakes with our order. This was one of our favourite restaurant experiences in a long time. We will definitely be back for more soon!

Love visiting here the food is excellent. Such a great selection of meals to choose from and oh so tasty. Sushi Is just gorgeous. We will be back soon.

What a little Gem! The sushi is so fresh, delicious and beautifully presented! the rib eye donburi was to die for! We couldn't fault a thing! Miso soup on the house to start too! All very authentic and as 'sushi' should be, put yo sushi and the likes to shame! We will be returning soon!

I have been meaning to write a review for Kyoto for some time. I have visited on roughly 6 occasions now and to be honest if it was up to me I would eat here every night of the week. I regularly use just eat to order a takeaway as well.The food is just wonderful. Tasty, fresh, great quality and always beautifully presented. The care that goes into every dish is clear, my favourites being the dragon roll, spider roll, and salmon teriyaki.Sure there have been negatives about the service before. The owner herself is just lovely and so so friendly. Some of her staff could do with a bit of training but really it is a minor thing when it comes to the whole package. A must visit for any tourist to thanet and any resident of ramsgate who has not yet been .I recently took my father and at 78 he has never been tempted to try this sort of cuisine, and while I didn't order anything too daunting for him, he absolutely loved it.

Came here to celebrate my son's GCSE results. He loves everything Japanese so we thought of treating him to a meal here. We live in Dover so our choices was Japanese restaurants in Ashford, Folkestone or Canterbury which we've previously been before. But after reading the review of this restaurant in trip advisor, we thought of trying a different one this time. We drove 20 miles to get here but it's worth the trip. The restaurant is not very impressive from the outside, looks like a typical take away shop. But inside reveals differently, decor is pleasant and welcoming, almost feel homely. The artworks of a local artists combined with the Japanese decor gives a good fusion of East and West. The food is exemplary.....Everything was fresh, hot, and tasty. One of the best Japanese foods we've ever had. Will definitely come back again!
