Visited the Sail inn with my uncle who lives in Lymington. Previous experience at the pub had been very good however this visit has left a very poor taste in the mouth. While the fish and chips were adequate the use of some sort of paper to "soak up the oil" from the food was less than appetizing for my uncle who is elderly. While the stated serving hours were 12 to 3pm when I requested dessert and coffees we were told the kitchen was closed as the chef "had to be somewhere" Given the choice of quality establishments in Lymington we obviously regretted choosing The Sail Inn and won't be doing so in the future - the fact there was no warning that the kitchen was closing early is annoying however the actual decision to shut early on a Friday lunchtime in a competive marketplace is beyond me.

Recently been advised to lay off the caffeine and have, in consequence, been drinking some pretty awful drinks. However, this place was a complete revelation. Their decaf americano was far and away the best coffee that I have drunk in weeks. Bags of flavour, deep colour and generally well presented. I cannot speak for their other coffees, but I imagine they were pretty good too, judging by the number of customers present. A good range of cakes and pastries were well displayed in this café, which also stocks a range of deli-type produce.

Having read some very complementary reviews I though this would be a good place to take my friend to eat on her birthday. It was difficult to chose from the menu as there was a very restricted choice. Our starter was promising , tasty but small portion and quite fatty. The main course of Chicken Croquettes We’re exceptionally salty, I couldn’t eat it all. Desserts were excellent. Staff where very pleasant. With 1 bottle of SB wine at (£40) a bottle Total for a meal for 2 over £150 Certainly not cheap.

I can honestly say this was one of the best restaurants I’ve eaten in and eaten in so many. The restaurant has a lovely, relaxed but special vibe. The staff are exceptional. The food was out of this world!!! Incredible ingredients, flavours and beautifully presented. We chose a red, an expensive red, but instead of taking our order, we were told it’s tanning and mix might not go with our dish. We were instead recommended a different wine that was so yummy we ordered a second. Super impressed. This is a destination restaurant and we’ll be back again and again

A bit disappointed with the experience. Although food was good quality the service felt indifferent and it felt expensive compared to having a proper meal. The usual overpriced wine and small plate restaurants where you leave after less than an hour still hungry and with a massive bill. Really wanted to like this place more as it seemed appealing from the outside. Ended up having a bowl of tomatoes and then some Olives brought at the end of meal after other tapas just when we didn't need them. Never asked if wanted another drink or anything else. Other places in Lymington were far more attentive.

Popped in with a couple of friends and tried their lunch club menu - which was great value £12-50 for two courses or £16 for three. In fact unsure how they managed to make any profit at those prices. Food tasty, nice log fire to welcome us. Staff friendly and attention - all in all a pleasant lunch with girlfriends. Sounds as though the weekend Beer Festival (28/29th Sept)will be fab - may pop along

We'd heard about The Tinker's Granddaughter through a friend and so decided to try it out for ourselves and booked the Sunday Roast Club - we were not disappointed! The service was friendly and welcoming and the food was incredible. It was our first time trying Juicy Marbles steaks and I have to say, they were the best meat substitute I've ever had. The only downside was that the room was quite crammed. We ordered first and by the time our food was served, people were still queuing right behind us to order theirs - which I understand is unavoidable but did hinder the experience a bit. I also treated myself to a tiramisu to take away, which again was the best plant based tiramisu I've had. We loved the experience so much that we've already booked again for June!
