very good Sunday lunch ,beautifully presented food .staff very friendly ,would definately recommend .pub recently decorated to a very high standard ,seems very popular with locals [which we are ]would recommend booking to reserve

I met a friend here for their Thursday ‘Locals’ Lunch’. It is great value at £12.50 for two courses. I chose Mushrooms on Toast followed by Spaghetti Bolognese. My friend had Prawn Cocktail and Sea Bass. Service was good. We’ll happily return. .

Returned to the Townhouse slightly earlier on a Saturday evening than last time. So glad we did, not overly busy which meant excellent service. Last time, service was a tad hit and miss due to the venue being extremely busy. I had the kofta starter which was very nice. This was followed by the stir fry (wife's choice) and pan fried Hake main for me. Both were excellent and worthy of the price charged. All washed down with a lovely bottle of wine. The Townhouse isn't cheap, but when they get it right it's worth every penny. If I have one very minor moan, it's the fact that the seats are not very comfortable. I unfortunately suffer from a back problem so comfort means a lot to me. We will obviously be back at the slightly earlier time in the future.

We should have realised when we walked in on a Saturday evening and the place was empty, that this was not going to be a good experience. One of the starters ordered was Corned Beef Hash. The dish arrived and it no way resembled or tasted like Corned Beef Hash. Inedible. It was grey, dry and didn't actually taste of anything. In fairness this was returned and deducted from our bill. Beef Bourguinon was tasteless and obviously not freshly cooked. We guessed it may have come from a tin. I ordered a Wagyu Burger. A prime cut of beef. Unfortunately this was THE worst burger I have ever eaten. This came with slaw. A strange purple/grey colour, with an even stranger taste. Our whole group were completely underwhelmed and disappointed with our food. Prices are not cheap. We are more than happy to pay for food which justifies the price, but this was a rip off. Maybe the chef was having an 'off day' Saving grace ? Our waiter - not sure what his name was, but he was Welsh and charming. Would we return ? Absolutely not.

This is one of three establishments owned by the same person (The Lighthouse in Milford and The Cliffhouse in Barton on Sea). This is the more relaxed of the three with the option of sitting at the bar and enjoying a drink, eating in either the bar or restaurant, sitting outside in their tiered and well appointed walled garden and enjoying the sun in the summer. Really good pub food. Enjoy the fire in the winter, live music at the weekend and German style October Bier Fest which is great fun. Lovely staff, everyone welcome. Sunday lunches

We visited the townhouse for my husbands birthday with friends, we had the Xmas set menu and it was absolutely outstanding! Service was great and a birthday thoroughly enjoyed by all.

A group of 26 had lunch and everyone enjoyed their food, service and venue. The staff managed the group with efficiency and professionalism

Wasn’t expecting anything overly special but OMG, the food was outstanding. It was generous in size, piping hot and delicious. The service was impeccable and our server, Ryan looked after us so well. We will 100% be back. Thank you.

We took our friend for her birthday lunch last Thursday and it was delicious, 2 of us had the Beef Bourguignon which was lovely, and my husband had the Pork Belly, ( he's still talking about it ) which he said was the best he'd ever tasted. All the vegetables were very tasty and the meals were nice and hot which some restaurants don't seem to do. Deserts of Apple and Blackberry Crumble were a good size with nice pieces of apple and proper custard. All in all a really good lunch with excellent waitress service, thank you.

We came here for our anniversary and they certainly made us feel special. On arrival a small glass of bubbles to congratulate us, and then a lovey dessert board with ‘Happy Anniversary’ beautifully written with some brownies. Such lovely touches that made us feel special. The pub itself was fairly central and had a live band playing in the pub (we were there on a Fri night and saw another band was there on the Sat too) so good atmosphere. I had a delicious macaroni cheese and my husband the hake … mine was delicious and my husband said his was average. However the service was excellent, the atmosphere really good and it was a good place to go - we’d definitely go again. Thanks for a lovely evening

We've lived in Lymington for almost 18 months and have been sampling the Sunday Roasts at as many places locally as possible. The Townhouse is relatively new having been refurbished recently. However, what makes the difference is the Sunday Roast. We all had different one's and none of us were disappointed. The meats were well cooked, the vegetables were not boiled to death, the stuffing was fresh and the gravy is to die for.

Great meal for five today pork and beef was superb. The Sullivan clan enjoyed all of the dishes. The star of the show was the gravy and cheese board

There isn’t anything to fault with the Townhouse, contrary to other reviews here. Like their sister restaurants in Milford and Barton the staff are nothing but friendly and very helpful. This is our fourth visit, first being just for drinks and sat out in the garden. Second trip again sat out in the garden and ordered a sandwich to share, this was plentiful between two. The third visit was with family and our waitress Eleni was very friendly and funny even if my dad was a little cheeky with her. Food was served, nicely presented and tasted delicious. Last night was just myself and Hubby. He ordered the Jerk Chicken Burger and I had the Chicken supreme fricassee, again nicely presentation and both were delicious, and not that we had room, but we had apple crumble and sticky toffee for pudding. Yum! Both left, feeling stuffed and satisfied. Like anywhere you go, everywhere is pricey! But we don’t mind if you’re getting the service, presentation and tasty food.
