Lovely cosy atmosphere with good coffee. Service was dreadful. Waited an hour and fifteen minutes for food to arrive. When my omelette eventually arrived, the guy on the table next door asked me what it was meant to be. No garnish and far too sloppy. Owner wasn't apologetic. Stick to sandwiches or a toasted bagel and you will be fine!

We had a delightful Saturday morning breakfast here, with the team kindly reserving a table for us in advance. The ‘Big Bridges Breakfast’ was a highlight plus the delicious French toast. We loved all the little touches - knobs of real farmhouse butter and Denby mugs. The deli also has a plethora of good things. We’ll be sure to return next time we’re in Lymington!

My first time in Lymington and saw this cozy looking coffee/deli cafe as I walked passed, thought I’d have a look around town first but eventually headed back to Bridges for a take away cake but ended up getting two - Key Lime and Coffee/Walnut cake with a hazelnut latte. The key lime was amazing, super tasty and just delicious! The coffee/walnut was nice as well but the Key Lime triumphs it! The latte was smooth and velvety plus hot which was nice, I’m very particular when it comes to my latte. The decor inside I absolutely loved, such a warm cozy feel to the place - met Bridge herself and she was very friendly. Shall return before I leave Lymington.

Called in for a late bite to eat on Tuesday. Ordered a piece of quiche with salad and coleslaw from the menu, and a decaf flat white. Waited about 10 minutes and was brought a plate with no coleslaw, and a very underwhelming salad made with iceberg lettuce, and a small barely warm piece of quiche. When I asked about the coleslaw, was told they'd run out... I ordered a decaf flat white - what I got seemed to be from a vending machine - definitely not a flat white. Spent £11.75. Trying to 'buy local' and support this small cafe, but I could have spent less in one of the large chain restaurants and got a much better lunch.

Popped in to order a couple of cakes from the deli counter. Ordered a cherry pie to take away. Got home, had this with a cup of tea - and whilst the cherry pie looked lovely, sweet and juicy it actually was bland and flavourless and quite watery which is such a shame. It literally had no flavour - and no I’ve not got covid! My husband had the pecan shortbread slice but that was delicious!

We visited yesterday for a light lunch for our family of four. At £5.95 for a bacon sandwich with not even 2 rashers of bacon and a few crumbled Doritos on the side I would say it was poor value. My sandwich of cheese (Pretty tasteless) and coleslaw was bland and served again with a few Doritos for £5.95 or possibly more, I can’t remember. Extra coleslaw as a side was £1.75 - pretty overpriced. My husband’s sausage roll was 5 inches long, if you’ll excuse the reference, and was not hot through, at £5.95 with nothing on the side. It was very average in taste. I think this is probably a great place for tea and cake as the cake looked super but the sandwiches are so overpriced. At that price I would expect a side salad and great quality ingredients. No toilet available either. Staff friendly and kind but food very disappointing.

We visited for lunch on a busy day, the cafe is at the far end of the main high street so was a bit quieter. We had sandwiches and crisps with coffee, all good quality and with a nice homemade feel. There were signs on the table saying children need to remain seated at all times and not touch the displays (there are ornaments and jewellery for sale throughout the space). I had my 18 month old with me so was a little bit worried when I saw the sign but thankfully she was well behaved and happily sat in her pram and ate her sandwich (there are no highchairs available). I would recommend the cafe but it's maybe not the place to come if you have children who like roaming!

To my mind, despite the good tea shops, cafes and chain coffe shops in Lymington, nothing compares with the class, the food, the coffee, the service and the English tea-shop atmosphere of Bridges near the top of town near the Roundhouse. A fantasic choice of real coffees and teas for a start and the food, all home-made and delicious from breakfast to tea and delicious cakes with a good range of choices through the day. If I had to select the tea-shop winner of England it would be Bridges and we have travelled to most parts of the country over many years.. The quality of the food is beyond compare and gluten-free choices pluc vegetarian tastes etc are well catered for. . It is well worth the shprt walk from the store car-parks in anybody's terms. Just in case..I have no personal or professonal interest in Bridges. I just enjoy it ands wish I could get there more. All bestwishes to all there. Terry Langford. Milford on Sea. December 2019.

Of all the tea-shops/cafes in Lymington, Bridges is my favourite with Elliots a close second and St.Barbe third. If you are at the top of town though, the only place is Bridges. It is a traditional tea-room, coffee-house with non-matching furniture, pretty cottons and probably the best coffee in Lymington. There is a choice from about 10 coffees and your choice can come in a cafetiere ,always welcome to me. The cakes are home-made and the food is excellent and freshly produced. For added pleasure there is also a shop display of gifts and decorative items that are remarkable in their variety and quality. I visited this cafe with a friend and our two babies who are both under a year old. As soon as we entered I quickly realised that the place was not baby friendly. I struggled to manevour my pushchair around the limited space and on asking for a high chair, I was told they didn't have any. We stupidly persevered, and ordered sandwiches for the both of us, giving the little ones snacks whilst sat on our laps. Understandably babies are not the cleanest of eaters and dropped crumbs on the floor. We were then forced to move table as were dive bombed by wasps. Instead of helping us move all our food and baby bits, the lady behind the counter huffed and tutted whilst cleaning up the dropped crumbs. She then spent the remainder of our visit scowling at us, and making us feel very uncomfortable and unwelcome. If you are considering going to this cafe with babies I would seriously reconsider and find somewhere more baby friendly.

Today my friend and I visited this café with our children (who are both under 1 year old). On first entrance we realised how inaccessible the café was with a pushchair, but we carried on anyway as we are used to squeezing into small spaces with a pushchair. Once we were seated we asked about highchairs to be told they didn't have any, which again, although not ideal, was manageable. We had our babies sat on our laps whilst we were eating and gave them both a snack. Of course, babies are not the most coordinated of eaters and a few crumbs were dropped here and there, we did our best to clean up as we go but with limited space and wriggly babies on our laps, this was difficult. We were then forced to move tables as a few wasps starting buzzing aggressively round the table (it's the season for them, not the end of the world) but after struggling with moving everything over, we mentioned to a member of staff that there were a fair few wasps around for her to reply "I'll just ask them to leave then, shall I?" In a sarcastic tone. She then stormed off to get a dustpan and brush and huffed and tutted whilst cleaning up the last little bit of crumbs that we had missed before we moved tables. That same member of staff then spent the rest of our visit being very cold towards us, which led us to eating our lunch in total silence, even our very chatty babies must have picked up on the atmosphere as they were also silent the entire time (usually unheard of).

Terry y Jean B. Went for lunch in Bridges today. Had a really nice tuna ciabatta and shortbread. Freshly made food using really nice ingredients for example chocolate (green and blacks). Good selection of food, friendly staff and nice location in lymington.

Been here a few times now and I cannot express the effort. A very comfortable atmosphere with outstanding organic home made food by mother and daughter who take a huge pride in what they do. And once you're overwhelmed by the sheer excellence you can take a wonder around and take a look at the wonderful jewellery and minerals.Slightly up town away from the hustle of the mainstream high street cafes but this is at its advantage. I asked daughter about a minerals and she knew everything about each type, It's a pure and honest establishment and I would highly recommend to anyone in or visiting the area.

A great informal little cafe. The gluten free chocolate fudge cake was awesome, warmed up with a bit of cream and even the decaf coffee tastes like it has a kick!

Bridges is a small, cosy and friendly tea rooms and café at the upper end of St. Thomas Street...handy for Waitrose and for M & S car parks. It has about 24 covers??(not sure exactly) and it does the most excellent coffee...probably the best in the town. The toasted fruit cake and butter is to die for. Jean and I love its atmosphere and the nice staff.. The range of breakfast and lunchtime snacks is very tempting and lunch is our next aim.An additional attraction is a wide range of gifts from small glass ornaments to plates for the wall plus many unusual artefacts..some geological I think. A good place for an unusual present for a friend. We look forward to our next visit. This and Elliotts café further down town are our favourites, depending on what we are doing in town.. An odd mix of a tea room and jewellery/rock shop. We shared a piece of coffee cake. Made up of 4 slices and a variety of fillings (2 coffee and not sure of the middle on) so was very sweet. We visited on a chilly day so were grateful of a seat next to a portable radiator. Free wifi and nicely away from the crowds of tourists in Lymington.

This place is what a cafe should be like. Loads of homemade cakes and nice coffee. Best banana cake ever tasted. Worth a short detour.

Run run to Bridges Cafe. We are here on a sunny Tuesday morning surrounded by fabulous cakes eating the best breakfast menu I have eaten for ages. Great service. Don't miss it. Anyone who likes Bella's of Bloomsbury will be happy here.

As soon as you walk in the door, you feel welcome and everyone is friendly, nothing is too much trouble. The food is all made by the very qualified owner. It is a family run business and everything is delicious and excellently presented. I love going there it is such a lovely coffee house as well as so much more. The cakes are incredible and will suit any occasion should you wish to have one made. The owners also have well presented jewellery which has been created with beautiful stones and crystals which is ideal for gifts for all the family or to wear to particular occasions.

Almost walked past this little tea room but my husband spotted that they catered for vegans. Lovely clean little place with a large selection of teas and wonderful cakes, we picked a banana cake topped with cranberries, absolute heaven, so moist and tasty - the tea was served in little china cups - everything was lovely - a little expensive but the vegan cake was homemade, organic and worth the little extra.

Visited the Sail inn with my uncle who lives in Lymington. Previous experience at the pub had been very good however this visit has left a very poor taste in the mouth. While the fish and chips were adequate the use of some sort of paper to "soak up the oil" from the food was less than appetizing for my uncle who is elderly. While the stated serving hours were 12 to 3pm when I requested dessert and coffees we were told the kitchen was closed as the chef "had to be somewhere" Given the choice of quality establishments in Lymington we obviously regretted choosing The Sail Inn and won't be doing so in the future - the fact there was no warning that the kitchen was closing early is annoying however the actual decision to shut early on a Friday lunchtime in a competive marketplace is beyond me.
