Fantastic pub!!! Our first time in this pub,the food was amazing,great garden, spot on service and the beer was lovely. Well done to everyone involved. How a British pub should be. Loved it.

Great outdoor space, busy with people but plenty of space. The lunch food is very good and a good serving. Service is very good with plenty of staff, all helpful and accommodating. Live soul music was very good. I would recommend this pub and will certainly return. Thank you

Could have eaten anything on the menu, unusual in this day n age. Had ruebens, stunning ! Wife had hotchpotch ( look it up ) amazing !

I love this pub, atmosphere, music, but unfortunately, how long does it take to get served!!! Which is why I left to go elsewhere. No disrespects to the bar staff, they work hard. But need more of them on busy day's.

Very nice place. The food arrived quickly and was delicious, the staff is very kind and responsive. I recommend the special wings with sauce and fries. I would visit again.

Great staff, food and atmosphere

Food good when I have eaten there and normally 3 cask bitters available. Can be noisy, especially when a band is playing in the evening.

Watched Skyfall band. Absolute awesome band and the pub was heaving. Such a wonderful atmosphere. Will definitely be following Skyfall and returning to the pub to see other bands.

Had a Sunday Lunch visit that overlapped with a live singer...great value food, lovely staff, decent tunes...what's not to like?

Had a lunch meeting here. The food and service were excellent but the place was cold. I had to keep my coat on the whole time.

Didn't eat just had a cheeky pint...menu looks good though. Nice rustic layout with log burner at far end. 4 real ales and lots of lagers and Thatchers ciders on the bar. Well laid out patio beer area. Event-driven with lots of live music each week. Friendly bar staff and chatty locals.

Popped in on NYE afternoon for a quick pint and snack after our walk. Ordered a tuna melt and sat, expectantly, by the cosy fire. Laterly to be told they couldn't do the sandwich as it was past 3pm and it was their "bad" for not realising when I ordered. OK, I get it, but really? The kitchen staff were visably enjoying the calm before the storm and I'm sure you could have rustled up a quick sandwich if you had any sense of customer service or took any pride in your work? If I'd have known I couldn't eat I would have gone to the George instead of sitting down with a drink! Faced with a "computer says no" scenario" I settled for a packet of crisps which, to add to my woes, cost me 2 quid.....and it's worse in the summer.

We don't often travel to christchurch but it was a stop off before we ventured on elsewhere ! Doing the man thing and freezing my bits off waiting for the missus in various shops , I just did a quick Google search and this was round the corner ! Usually I would add a picture as you are supposed too but to be honest I was ravenous! So apologies . Huge outside area and what I can only presume as an outdoor pizza oven , well maintained and real cozy , now my other Failure was not getting any of the bar staffs names ( I was that hungry) I fancied some wings and the missus fancied a soup ! Which was broccoli and cheese , fairly thick and piping hot with lovely fresh bread . The service was so genuine ! Even asking the chef if the thai-ger sauce served with the wings was hot ! The chef asked if he could throw me an off menu sauce that might have a bit more kick? No wait at all for our order to arrive ! The wings came in a cauldron style pot and on taking the lid off I was hit in the nostrils by steam , lemon and hot sauce and sitting aloft a huge bed of crispy coated seasoned fries which I was not not expecting was a glistening bunch of spicy coated wings with a fall of the bone texture , seriously I kid you not , this was not only a comfy cosy boozer but I have NEVER had wings placed in front of me like that ! A only had a half kilo and that was more than enough ! To ALL the staff ......its a real tough job sometimes ( been there myself )and you guys nailed it , thankyou to the lovely young lady who served me and also a huge thankyou to the chef ! Diamond bloke and if you can remember how you made that sauce .....put it on the menu ! Thankyou

This is a large popular pub with live music and good food.

Excellent lunch and very good value for money. Recommend the three cheese toasty and the Tripp Philly along with the fishcakes. All very tasty.

Decent range of beers, albeit at a quite high price. Had the seafood sharing platter for two which was very good, and also very good value. It's easily enough for two people with healthy appetites.

Great bands play here and the audience is quite diverse! Really buzzing at weekends, but feels like a real pub should and not a trendy wine bar.

I can't fault it. If I were a bigger fan of pubs I'd give it 5 stars for atmosphere, but the seating was a bit overcrowded for my taste. Since it was quiet, not a drama. The Goan fish curry was really good and the staff were warm. Definitely a place to go back to. And a lot of music nights...must return

I didn’t actually eat here. My reason for the review is they don’t offer vegetarian or a vegan Sunday Lunch. I booked and travelled with a friend from another town. “We will take the meat off the plate for you” No thanks. It’s the 21st century, step up and make an effort.

Shame they state the closing time is 12 when they close at 11

They were out of Oysters, but Christian and the rest of the staff were extremely friendly and helpful, made us feel right at home. Friendly pub vibes, good folks around, and lots of great dogs 🐕 👍!!

I am French and I found this magnificent little place by chance, a welcoming and pleasant environment. A fish and chips as I like with mushy peas :) not far from the seaside. THANK YOU

Had a lovely walk through the town and come across this great looking boozer. In side is a lot of ornaments and features of the old days. It had a great selection of ales , ciders and wines wether was scorching so only had a few ciders. and if I was hungry I would have ate here the food looked really nice. Good selection, cheese boards , burgers ect. Well Worth a visit if you’re visiting the town.

This is a lovely pub and worth seeking out. The food was very nice. It seems like a proper locals pub but not intimidating. Very welcoming and the staff were very smiley.

New menu today. 1st to try the new sharers fish platter. Omg Thomas Tripp it was absolutely amazing. Bigger and even tastier than the previous ( didn't think that was even possible) 5 *s to Team TT. Highly recommend. Will definitely return soon.

We were initially sceptical about eating here, especially as a party walked in and out almost immediately as I waited outside & my husband enquired if dogs were allowed inside. It was getting on for 16:00 on a Sunday, we were hungry and fancied a roast. Initial impressions were not great, however we sat down in the corner with our dogs and decided our meals. I went to the bar and ordered food and drinks. My son’s ham hock turned up first, he was taken aback by the size of it. The meat fell off the bone! Our roast Beef’s turned up, the beef was finely sliced and very flavourful. Great meal, would highly recommend.

Lovely place- food is awesome (fish platter is to die for) great beer (I visit daily when the Titanic Porter is on- best pint ive EVER had- and I’ve had a few😂) Def the place to head- lovely garden in the summer..

Hosted an Engagement Party at Thomas Tripp, in their private Garden Bar. Guests really loved it, and the staff were always helpful and kind. 100% would recommend!

Couldnt have been more helpful and food was lovely.

Hadn't been before and wasn't sure what to make of the place. But went in a.d it felt like a nice old school pub. Turned put to be an open mic night which had a great atmosphere for a Tuesday night and the food was amazing. Good portions and quality of food was great. Will sefo be going back.

Had my son’s 18th birthday in the garden room today. Georgia was absolutely brilliant, calm and attentive throughout. The food was amazing and the team were all brilliant from booking through to leaving. Can thoroughly recommend!

The food is fine. It has a great atmosphere with regular live bands at the weekend . There is always plenty of staff on the match demand when ordering drink. Great location in the heart of Christchurch

Yesterday at the Thomas Tripp we had a very early Xmas lunch about 17 of us,we pre booked and pre paid so that it all went smoothly. The tables were set up looking very festive with some nice little touches as well. Food was superb the Haggis Scotch egg was excellent as were the mains. The staff worked really hard and the service top draw. Big thank you to Polly and the team and special thanks to the devilishly handsome Father Christmas 🎅

Loved our meal. In particular, I am a small eater and ordered a kids portion. No quizzing or refusal, totally accepted unlike other establishments that say you can only have a child's portion if you are under a certain age. My husband had normal chicken burger and fries. This was a very good size. It was a very tasty meal and glad we discovered this little gem. Especially great if you are a music lover of a certain age as the place took me back to my younger years. A great vibe!

We recently had our work's end of season party at The Thomas Tripp. We had a brilliant time, 25 of us in a private area, a delicious buffet and brilliant drinks service. Poppy and Quentin could not have been more helpful and welcoming. Thanks for everything!!

The Thomas Tripp is a great place. I only go lunch times midweek. I bet it rocks when busier.

Having visited the Thomas tripp tonight after a few years we had a great night, only to be kicked out in the street with a plastic cup!! Last orders at 11.45 pm. Having purchased our last drinks at around 11.55pm we were told to leave and decant our drinks into plastic cups and finish them in the street. If we'd wanted to drink in the street we would have brought our own plastic cups and booze with us!! Something not quite right with the timings!!!

Absolutely loved it, best roast in town (not including my mama's 😉) booked a table for Sunday lunch, very accommodating with a young toddler. So busy eating I forgot to take my regular pics but the portion sizes are enormous, food was cooked to perfection and the wait time was so little from ordering to table. Great experience
