Really good pub. Well kept beer and very tasty food options.

We were initially sceptical about eating here, especially as a party walked in and out almost immediately as I waited outside & my husband enquired if dogs were allowed inside. It was getting on for 16:00 on a Sunday, we were hungry and fancied a roast. Initial impressions were not great, however we sat down in the corner with our dogs and decided our meals. I went to the bar and ordered food and drinks. My son’s ham hock turned up first, he was taken aback by the size of it. The meat fell off the bone! Our roast Beef’s turned up, the beef was finely sliced and very flavourful. Great meal, would highly recommend.

Had to queue for Groovemeister as they are a great covers band. Friendly crowd with plenty dancing. Bar staff and security very good too.

Lovely place- food is awesome (fish platter is to die for) great beer (I visit daily when the Titanic Porter is on- best pint ive EVER had- and I’ve had a few😂) Def the place to head- lovely garden in the summer..

So impressed with the food, had a chicken Kiev and polenta, it was delicious. The pub have unique features, very welcoming friendly staff, definitely come back. Thank you very much.

Hosted an Engagement Party at Thomas Tripp, in their private Garden Bar. Guests really loved it, and the staff were always helpful and kind. 100% would recommend!

Couldnt have been more helpful and food was lovely.

Hadn't been before and wasn't sure what to make of the place. But went in a.d it felt like a nice old school pub. Turned put to be an open mic night which had a great atmosphere for a Tuesday night and the food was amazing. Good portions and quality of food was great. Will sefo be going back.

Had my son’s 18th birthday in the garden room today. Georgia was absolutely brilliant, calm and attentive throughout. The food was amazing and the team were all brilliant from booking through to leaving. Can thoroughly recommend!

The food is fine. It has a great atmosphere with regular live bands at the weekend . There is always plenty of staff on the match demand when ordering drink. Great location in the heart of Christchurch

Security guard threw a girl out. Out of control not pumped up young security, music is so loud and not cleaned enough in beer garden,

A lively, friendly pub. Also the landlord gave me a free jug of Guinness. Nice!

Well what a great night last night ( weds 29/11) Christmas Quiz. Atmosphere was really great with everyone joining in. The staff were amazing and also joined in. Poppy is off her head, full of Spirit and Christmas joy! ( Bah Humbug) she'll know! Thanks again, love Team, The Christmas Bell ends!

Huge outdoor seating area. Didn't eat there but food looked OK.

Yesterday at the Thomas Tripp we had a very early Xmas lunch about 17 of us,we pre booked and pre paid so that it all went smoothly. The tables were set up looking very festive with some nice little touches as well. Food was superb the Haggis Scotch egg was excellent as were the mains. The staff worked really hard and the service top draw. Big thank you to Polly and the team and special thanks to the devilishly handsome Father Christmas 🎅

Loved our meal. In particular, I am a small eater and ordered a kids portion. No quizzing or refusal, totally accepted unlike other establishments that say you can only have a child's portion if you are under a certain age. My husband had normal chicken burger and fries. This was a very good size. It was a very tasty meal and glad we discovered this little gem. Especially great if you are a music lover of a certain age as the place took me back to my younger years. A great vibe!

Only had a couple of drinks lunch time. Would love to go in the evening

We recently had our work's end of season party at The Thomas Tripp. We had a brilliant time, 25 of us in a private area, a delicious buffet and brilliant drinks service. Poppy and Quentin could not have been more helpful and welcoming. Thanks for everything!!

Having visited the Thomas tripp tonight after a few years we had a great night, only to be kicked out in the street with a plastic cup!! Last orders at 11.45 pm. Having purchased our last drinks at around 11.55pm we were told to leave and decant our drinks into plastic cups and finish them in the street. If we'd wanted to drink in the street we would have brought our own plastic cups and booze with us!! Something not quite right with the timings!!!

The Thomas Tripp is a great place. I only go lunch times midweek. I bet it rocks when busier.

Haven’t tried the food yet but I love the atmosphere at Thomas Tripp and of course their team. Very accommodating for groups as well as single patrons.

It really is very good this place. Atmosphere, beer (Ringwood 49er). Good service. Tempted not to share as one day I won't b able to get a table. Best pub in this conurbation imo.

Absolutely loved it, best roast in town (not including my mama's 😉) booked a table for Sunday lunch, very accommodating with a young toddler. So busy eating I forgot to take my regular pics but the portion sizes are enormous, food was cooked to perfection and the wait time was so little from ordering to table. Great experience

Left the pub stuffed good food & good ale, best IPA (Neck Oil) I’ve had for a long time. Definitely recommend.

Nice frendly pub, good choice of real ales unlike other pubs only serving light IPA's & largers. Also the service is fast when dishing out some lovely food.

Have not had any food at this Establishment,But the Young girl behind the Bar Sunday Night thought Cab Sav was a Beer? Until I pointed out the bottle as she went for white first?

Having live music is a rare treat indeed these days. The atmosphere was great and I enjoyed some real ales. It's also a really good looking old school boozer with a wide mix of age groups.

If you are looking for a restaurant that hides itself in a pub... This isn't it. This is, in the best way, a good old traditional oub with great food. So whats the difference? By the time we arrived the pub had been busy all day - so the floor is a little sticky, the bar is a little messy, the staff are running around. But that's part of the atmosphere. The outdoor area is completely covered and has its own bar, allowing smokers and drinkers to enjoy their time without huge food queues awaiting them. The dining area is cozy and quiet, and a little off to the side, nice if you want some time alone. And then there is the bar area, with a stage for live bands and plenty of room to dance! That's a little more lived in. But that's part of the charm. This is a seaside pub with great portions of food, where you come to be loud and enjoy cover band music and have a few beers with many friendly strangers. It would come close to being a dive bar, if the food wasn't as good and it wasn't so family friendly during the day. A great little find in the area for those who don't mind a few rough edges around this little gem of find.

Wow what a lovely Roast Dinner! Hands down one of the best in Christchurch. Went for the beef which was cooked perfectly. The mix of veg on the plate was well thought of. All cooked well and tasted lovely. Couldn’t fault it. Look forward to returning.

Went here for my birthday and the staff did everything I could expect to make my day special. The food was second to none. They were fast on my drink orders and made sure all the food arrived at the same time. Atmosphere was great. Will come back.

Friendly staff made us and our dog feel very welcome indoors on a rainy afternoon. The midweek lunchtime menu was well priced and offered a good selection. If you have haddock and chips, bring an appetite. I was driving so couldn't take advantage of the range of beers they had available.

This pub is absolutely amazing, the kindest owner on the planet and a very kind and friendly staff.

Spent an afternoon here with friends, however when I went to the bar to be served the young male behind the bar did not acknowledge me waiting and said to his colleague can you serve "her" I'm going on break .... so rude

Had a lovely Sunday lunch despite the outside oven not being on due to the poor weather. Very dog (and child) friendly and the beer, food and staff were amazing. I wouldn't be surprised if we visit every day during our week's stay in Christchurch!

Not the place it was. The Thomas Tripp used to be very cosy and friendly. Since change of ownership it has become a bit sterile. Shame. But times change.

A place with a brilliant atmosphere that suffers from its own success. Food falters in quality when it's busy and you get the feeling that that the well intentioned and likeable staff struggle to keep up at times. Great place that needs better management at peak times. I think it and customers would benefit and enjoy itself in quiet times or get some organised chaos when busy!!!

Food was excellent, great value for money, if your in Christchurch you must give it a try , you won't be disappointed.

Great live music pub had a rock band on when we visited and that's definitely my kind of music. We booked a table in advance for food but didn't realise they weren't doing food that day because of the band, and nobody said when booking, staff thought we were reserving the table for the band, which some people often do. Doesn't matter though, we still had a great time and found food elsewhere after.

Really loved this place & the food was to die for.. Best chicken burger & fries I've EVER had! We sat outside in the large seated area which was great, lots of lovely people & some very cute dogs. We went inside at 8pm for the open mic night, hosted by the fabulous Si Genaro, great music & atmosphere. This was a great evening & we'll definitely return for sure. I personally gave my compliments to the young chef for the amazing food.

Amazing, we have been here several times, and today the food was divine. we ordered the same dish as the costumo (we thought was the same) but in the end they changed the dish which is now even better, Before everything was fried, now is grilled what is better. we really enjoyed it and will come back again. the atmosphere and music very nice. Plus is dog friendly what is a good point as well 👌🏻

Absolutely love going to the Thomas Tripp. It's a lovely place, inside and out. The outside area is lovely, they have great bands here too. Always a friendly and warm welcome, and if you're sat outside, you end up chatting with people you don't know. That's how relaxing it is there. Highly recommend to everyone 😊

Great pub. Live music, dog friendly, nice staff, great food and plenty of it. Good choice of beers. Nice atmosphere. 10/10. The smallest nachos starter was enough for 3 of us, and absolutely delicious. That was last year, on holiday. Couldn't wait to visit again this year, but what on earth has happened to the menu? Oh dear. Just had a drink.

Friday night, very loud, friendly bunch, no problems. Wood-fired burgers delicious, but sauce needed (should it have been offered?) Outdoor area excellent, if cramped. Nice evening.

This place is nuts! Called in at 5.15 pm for a cheeky beer or two, ended up dancing for 2 hours to a fabulous 70's disco with my friends. Great staff and good security.

The atmosphere and place were lovely, but food was disappointing. Seafood linguine without any seafood, only a couple of small pieces of salmon and very stodgy.

Really nice pub. Easily the best in Christchurch in my opinion. Really great atmosphere, live music most nights, good beer. Prices are similar to any other local pub really, certainly not even close to London prices as some reviews suggest. Had the beef burger twice with the chutney in it and it’s definitely either best or close to best burger I’ve had in a pub. Haven’t had the roast yet but have seen it when in on a Sunday and it looks amazing. Staff also really nice and quick! My go to pub :)

Fantastic pub with top quality food and wonderful staff. We booked easily online a table for 4 plus dog. The dog had a biscuit and water laid out for him :). We were super impressed with the selection on the fish platter. What really stood out for us were the staff. We had a medical drama whilst we were there and had to call an ambulance. The staff were so helpful, kind and compassionate to us. Thankyou
