Excellent Cod and chips, good traditional fish and chip shop

Visited here for the first time today! Fish & Chips (lunchtime special) were lovely, and the server was super friendly and knowledgeable in respect of special dietary needs. Will return and highly recommend.

Small cash only chippy, cheeky staff, lovely grub

Should have on there menu board different sizes off chips . £3.50 I payed cause it was blank after that . Called and was told they do different sizes. I was not offered would been nice to be asked

Chip and tails is FAB! We have had food from here regularly for the past 21 years! It is consistently perfect! The food is not too greasy, it's always piping hot and it's delicious 😋

Enormous portions. And here's a thing, they can do gluten free but you must ask. That's a rare treat. Give them a go.

Great little chippy!! It’s been there for a quarter of a century so they must be doing something right!! The staff are always friendly and the food is cooked to order so always fresh and hot!! It doesn’t matter what you order it all tastes brilliant. They don’t take card payments but I don’t think that should reflect on the quality of food they produce!! Excellent work!! Keep up the high standards 👍🏻

Chips were cold and greasy the pie crust very hard and cold meat in the middle need to get the fryer from Dibden down there to show them how to do it. Had to give one star but its not even worth that

Just visited for the first time very clean and fish was to order but staff were not wearing masks but made the customer wait outside in the cold The fish was nice as was the batter Light and crispy however the chips were just awful all hard end bits that were inedible and the fish cake was a tad dry and at £1.75 was a complete rip Off. Will not be using this place again

Stopped off to chip and Tails on the way home with my friend. We both had a large battered sausage, chips and curry sauce. Freshly cooked to order. The curry sauce was delicious as well. Will definitely be going back!

Myself and several family members ordered from here. They managed to get 14 meals done in a timely manner, and all correct! Fantastic tasting food and wonderfully sized portions!

This has always been our go to chip shop on holybank & tonight was no exception we always love our fish lightly battered and the two lovely ladies that were there this Tuesday evening are always very friendly and very welcoming , it was delicious , thank you see you soon X

Missed their food so much we drove from Chandlers Ford because we just can't find another Chippy as good; especially as the wife is Gluten free and not many others cater for GF's. Great Fish and Chips, it was my first time trying from here. Couldn't fault it. We had a haddock, battered sausage, peas curry sauce, fishcake and large chips between two of us. Not bad portion size and reasonably priced. I will be returning next time i fancy chips !

Food was good, standard fish and chips, did the job. However, why on earth in 2020 do they not take card payments! We drove down to collect, and with no cash on us as I pay with my card in general. Had to drive to a cash point to get out cash, annoying with four hungry kids waiting for food. Ridiculous.

Best fish and chips ever, very friendly and quick, you get loads of chips and they are still hot and not a soggy mess when you get home.

Closed at 13.25 on a Fry Day :-) No chips for me, nothing left said the guy, must be a computer error as there was plenty on the hot shelf. Shan't bother in future, back to Holbury Fish Bar, much better food there anyway.

We ordered and collected about 40 meals for our Scouts treat at Summer camp 210 in the new forest. The order was ready on time and the proprietors very helpful in the process. But most Importantly and despite the bulk order, they were some of the best fish and chips We've tasted in a very long time, Would thoroughly recommend !

We are from Pembrokeshire (Wales) so we know what a good chippy should be like. We moved here just over two years ago and have tried many of the local chippy’s. This one is the best one we have found and is exactly like the ones back home. The staff are so friendly and fun to chat to when waiting. Prices are good, food is really good. So pleased we found this place!

Great staff, lovely chips, local info websites including Google have now finally almost correct the opening times but just to confirm: Should be: Tues-Sat 11:30 -13:30, then 16:30 to 21:000 Tues - Thurs, 16:30 - 21:30 Fridays and 16:30 to 20:00. I've tried to edit Google times but Google ignore corrections, Scan of the Menu attached, "Tales 2" is their shop in Dibden Purlieu

Been coming here for years, lovely chips, great fish, chicken, freshly cooked. Very friendly staff too. Opening times on Google and most local trade guide sites are wrong!

Chip N Tails is just down my road and I love it because it is incredibly cheap, has amazing food, a wide range of products on the menu including pies, drinks and fritters. I very highly recommend it to everyone who has a rumbly tummy.

We often get the fish and chips lunchtime 'meal deal' from here- at £3.50 for cod and chips you can't go wrong. The portions sizes are plenty big enough and good quality. Fish portions are massive and taste great. Batter not too overwhelming or greasy like other places. Mushy peas ok, not the best I've had- a little runny, but still tasted really good. We will definitely be back for more soon!

Bought my dinner here last night. As always smiling staff and hot, tasty food. Everything is well cooked and never dry. A recommendable place for sure.

Overall very good with large portions and the fish is always succulent. Sometimes the batter could be a little less soggy but I don't tend to eat that anyway.

Caminé hasta el coche y nos fuimos a través de mi pedido y me di cuenta que estaba perdiendo partes de nuestra orden. Caminamos por el tiempo que había una cola, así que esperamos en línea que no quería empuje. Una de las chicas que me reconoció y me gritó sobre enfrente de todo el mundo ' ¿qué es' un poco grosero? Entré y me explicó lo que me faltaba y me dijeron que me dieron lo que pedí. Yo le expliqué que no había recibido parte de mi nuevo pero el personal empezó a hablar de mí como si yo no estaba allí! Al final, me dieron el resto de mi pedido y luego ya que estaba a la puerta me dijeron que debería haber pagado!! El servicio de atención al cliente era asqueroso. Mi consejo ... el personal necesario prestar más atención a lo que los clientes están diciendo en vez de hablar sobre el fin de semana con el chef!!!

This 'chippy' and it's sister in Dibden Purlieu produce consistently excellent fish & chips. Always freshly fried . succulent and tasty. I always use these 'chippys' and have never been disappointed.

i admit to getting our fish and chips here more often than i should but their food is just too good! the fish is fresh and you get fantastic portions. when they say a large cod, it is large. the batter is well-cooked and the perfect amount. chip portions are super-generous (and that has never changed in all the years i have been going there) and perfectly cooked, never had a bad chip from there. prices are bang on and worth every penny. can't honestly think of another fish and chip shop that is even half as good!

I love this chip shop, it's officially Gluten Free and the menus are available Evenings . My Husband loves the varying menus so there us plenty if choice . Large portions and beautiful fish too .It's a very busy chip shop with a fun atmosphere . The owner recognizes my husband and if at the back if the queue he will pop out and find out what I would like so he can prepare it in a controlled environment . I am so happy to be able to eat a takeaway like everyone else .I would happily recommend thus chip shop

My family live nearby and when we visit at least twice a month we head to Chip N Tails as its got the most delicious fish and great crunchy but thick chips I have had in many a year.... and at a great price too !They will usually give you more chips than you have ordered in each portion.They have a special OAP discount at certain lunchtimes, and my parents often take advantage of this to get their dinner at a cheaper price.

Every time we have had takeaway from either this shop or the other we have regretted it. Greasy chips that look and taste horrible. We prefer to use the new chip shop in Hythe town, it is a bit more expensive but worth it.
