This is a really lovely pre-theatre dinner stop that we feel lucky to've found. The staff are friendly and welcoming - they also dish up excellent food!
The restaurant is in several sections, including an outside area - you never feel over crowded; everywhere is very clean and we've been lucky to have Halloween, Christmas and Valentine's decorations so far!!
A discount is given if you tell them you're going onto Shanklin theatre after your meal; they're only too happy to let you book a bit earlier so that show times can be met.
The menu gives you plenty of choice and is good value. We've had various things now (used three times) and haven't been disappointed .. occasionally something isn't available, but this is told to you as you arrive, not after you've chosen. We will certainly be back when we next go to the theatre.
Lovely breakfast, friendly staff, would visit again. Made to feel very welcome at this gem of a cafe. Nothing too much trouble. One of the best breakfasts on the island. Ask for the trains to be switched on and see them, it was lovely.
My sister and I had a beautiful high tea at the Brasserie. Sandwiches and cakes were amazing served with excellent coffee, my sister said her pot of tea was good too. The staff were extremely friendly and efficient. Nice surroundings, we will certainly go again when my sister comes to stay.
yates. what a classic. seriously, it's an absolute classic and staple of newport's mean streets, but it's time to mourn the sad death of yates as it is being replaced by a new restaurant of the same franchise owners.i went to yates recently but i am very sad to hear it is shutting down. value was special. food was special. everything else was a little special, it was sort of like a sprinkle of specials all around since it did have a good place in mon heart.very sad to hear it is shutting down. hacked off at whoever made the decision. bun them fully, bun them 100 and 10 percent.
We popped in here for sausage rolls pasties and bread pudding on our holiday
The best sausage rolls I've had for a long time and the lady who served me was so lovely

FINGER NAIL IN DRINK
Absolutely disgusting place very poor hygiene standards and management. I probably experienced a diners worst nightmare finding a finger nail in my drink which disgustingly ended up in my mouth, imagine that another persons finger nail in your mouth how vile. when I approached the barmaid (whoâs finger nail it properly was) about a refund which is not asking for much considering the circumstances she refused and she said the managers have to be present which they wasnât as it was it a Sunday. I then asked for contact details of the manager she yet again refused saying she wasnât allowed to do this. After hearing all these awful things and her not being a single help what so ever and showing no understanding how appalling the situation was I then tried to contact the emails I could find on the website, I emailed more then one email that I found about my visit just asking for a simple refund even though I could take the matter way further and neither gave me a reply. This shows the lack of care they have for there company and more importantly there customers. This leaves me with 2 questions why and how has a finger nail got in my drink of coke. Was the barmaid cutting her nails around a area of food and drink ? Probably so.
Id absolutely avoid this place in case anything like these happens to you and you get the same treatment I did.
Shocking hygiene standards never mind the hospitality.
Chicken shis was horrible, staff are rude! Had a tap of liquer running out of paper bag wrap 2m after order pickup, hot dry chicken one side and freezing letuce the other and tasteless. These tosserse just her to take ur cash. BEWARE!

We enjoyed an hour sitting outside this place. We were served by Milly, who couldnât have been more delightful and helpful - she was the best. Really lovely coffee, like REALLY lovely. The crab and chips were delicious, burgers fine but the veggie burger was a bit disappointing. Next time Iâd pick the sweet potato fries with feta instead, as they looked delicious. Thanks, Milly! xxx
An interesting hotel where we went for dinner, although the food was ok it was a rather limited menu and the restaurant had no ambiance. The portraits in the hotel reception are fun though and worth a look. We did not stay at the hotel we just ate there and it was a shame it was too windy to eat outside
After reopening again in 2023 after its closure in 2022 everything seemed to be going well until late in 2023 when despite not having any information that it had closed, it shut one night never to reopen. No notices in the windows. No announcement like last time to tell their loyal customers that they'd decided to close down. And now it seems it HAS closed down & is being turned into flats! Well, there's a lot of unhappy people from over the last 30 years who would have liked to have been told đ Bad form Chip Ahoy....
Visited for an afternoon tea. It was delicious, really well presented and great value for money. The owners were very friendly and attentive. I will definitely be recommending to friends and family âșïž
