My sister and I had a beautiful high tea at the Brasserie. Sandwiches and cakes were amazing served with excellent coffee, my sister said her pot of tea was good too. The staff were extremely friendly and efficient. Nice surroundings, we will certainly go again when my sister comes to stay.

We have been a few times in the past and always found the atmosphere and food lovely. This time we had an afternoon tea which was overpriced for what it was. The place is looking very tired and run down. Our table had some sort of stain going across it and looked like an old cafe table from a greasy diner. This close to Xmas it would have been nice to have had a cloth on the table, just to smarten it up.. The tea and coffee were luke warm and the my husand's coffee was sloshed into his saucer because his cup was over filled. I also specifically asked for NO salmon in the sandwiches when I booked , and lo and behold we had salmon. A little bit more effort would have made a big difference.

The Brasserie was closed for lunch and dinner on Monday & Tuesday due to staff shortages so we were looking forward to our tariff included dinner on Wednesday. The menu was very basic with 2 burgers, fish and chips and a few other choices but they refused to take our orders in the bar, insisting we sat at the table first. The goats cheese tartlet was clearly a filled imported pastry case with little thought to presentation and the dessert also gave the strong impression that it had been bought in from an external commercial operation. Breakfast was rather chaotic. We ordered an ordinary coffee and a decaf coffee but the waiter didn't know one from the other. On one day the full breakfast had 2 hash browns and on another only one and served without the requested poached egg. The brasserie itself is a fine 2 level room and it was a pity the food and service did not live up to the surroundings.

We had a dinner allowance of £25 each included in our hotel package. This covered 2 courses but had to be supplemented for 3 courses. We must say that we really loved the restaurant, the staff and manager were amazingly pleasant. The food was extremely good and tasty and the Malbec wine was most appreciated. The breakfast was thoroughly enjoyable too. We always had a lovely table and really appreciated the kindness of the restaurant staff.

My mother and I went on a spa break to Lakeside Hotel and Spa. Warm welcome from Jamie as always, bless him. Gorgeous room, lakeview. Lovely spa area and treatments are fantastic. Dinner with Khalid was fabulous. I ordered whole Plaice thinking it would be filleted. My mum ordered Beetroot Risotto which was overly salty. When we voiced our concerns politely, Khalid could not do enough for us and asked if we wanted something else on the menu instead. In our eyes he went above and beyond with his customer service and for that his manager needs to know how kind and responsive he was to our needs. He was efficient and professional, with a personal touch. Highly recommended, thank you Khalid and team. Also shout out to Simona at breakfast, you are always so smiley and hardworking! We will be back!

We booked here for an afternoon tea for a baby shower, service very slow. we booked for 2pm didn’t get served any drinks till half 2 and the afternoon tea didn’t come out till 3pm, the cakes and scone were ok nothing to shout about, but the sandwich fillings were very poor ! I had two with very thin sliced cucumber and tomato and one egg mayo!! I felt very robbed considering it was £21 per head, some people got the odd salmon one but that was pretty much it egg mayo, cucumber + tomato . I’ve had a few afternoon teas on the island this was the least value for money, And considering it’s a brasserie too you would expect a lot higher selection of fillings , I did send them an email but still I’ve had no response as we felt it spoilt our afternoon of a special occasion begin an hour late some of the group had to leave in a rush due to ferry’s to catch, I def recommend woods in Godshill afternoon tea or one holyrood Newport if your looking for an afternoon tea that goes the extra mile !! And good value for money

We found the staff here exceptional. Food was good, views and ambience make it a very pleasant dining experience. Husband and me are staying for the first time at this hotel, eating in the Brasserie. Both feel we’ve found a replacement for the hotel we’d always previously stayed in on the Isle of Wight. Shall definitely be back, and soon 😁😁

Dinner was included as part of our Secret Escapes deal. We booked a table in advance as required. The manager greeted us and said a staff member would show us to a table. The restaurant is on two levels with a bar at the top. We got a table on the lower level overlooking the lake. There is also outside seating again on two levels. We ordered a half of lager and a pint of John Smiths. The menu is a limited version which is included in the package but would cost £21.50 for two courses or £27.50 for three courses. Decided to have two courses and ordered lamb loin and plaice. In the meantime a staff member came to say they had run out of John Smiths, we asked what other bitter they had and were told Peroni or Fosters both of which are lagers! My husband went to see what the choices actually were and chose another drink. The restaurant was quite empty for a Saturday night with 2 other tables occupied. There was some bread and butter on the table. The meals came. The lamb had vegetables on the plate, the plaice was without vegetables. 5 minutes later the vegetables arrived in a separate bowl. The lamb had a lot of fat on it and wasn’t that well cooked. The plaice was fine but no fish knife supplied! For pudding we chose cheesecake which was also disappointing, very soft, almost runny and the biscuit base was not firm. Not very impressed with the food or service, the staff were very young and just going through the motions much in the same way as the kitchen staff it appears based on the quality of the food. Would not recommend or return based on this visit

We were holidaying on the Isle of Wight recently and dined here twice, once with friends and once on our own. As a wheelchair user I find all the facilities excellent. Parking just outside, level access, great toilet facilities. The dining room is on two levels, access to the lower level is via an easy to use lift. The view from the restaurant is lovely. There is always a lot going on in this hotel, baby showers, birthday celebrations etc. The ambience of the hotel lends itself to all these occasions. On both visits we all enjoyed the beautiful food, enhanced with vegetables grown in the hotel's own polytunnel - you can't get fresher than that. Service is attentive and unhurried. Prices are reasonable. We will return.

I visted this restaurant on Spetembe 15th 2016 with two friends. One guest is a Vegan who had rung the Brasserie on 3 occasions to speak to the chef to enquire about the restaurant's ability to cope with a Vegan. Her calls were never returned. We ordered beer batter fish and chips with peas and a Vegan version of the spicy tomato linguine. The fish batter was not crispy though the chips were very good - dry and crunchy and the tartare sauce was excellent. The Vegan dish was very disappointing - tasteless and lacking in any finesse. For pudding the Chef was happy to go off menu with a compote of fruit and berries with sorbet for the Vagan diner who decalred that it was delicious and went a long way to naking up for the less than inspiring main course. The other guest chose the same but with vanilla ice-cream and again said it was delicious. I opted for fudge cake with toffee sauce and vanilla ice-cream. The cake was flat and heavy and the ice-cream tasted shop bought. The service was friendly and efficient and the desire to accommodate diners wishes was very evident, iot's just a shame that the kitechen was only capable of producing mediocre food.

We ate dinner here whilst staying at the hotel and greatly enjoyed our choices from the three course set menu which at £25 per head we thought was very good value for the quality of the food. There were about five choices for each course. To be ultra critical, one end of the chicken supreme was a tad dry but the rest was fine. The beef fillet on a bed of bubble and squeak was perfectly cooked and was a generous size. Lovely views overlooking the lake and the staff were all friendly.Would definitely eat here agaIn.

After booking a package with stay and various extras included, a 3 course meal here was one of them.Firstly it took about 20 min to get a drinks menu ( wine by the bottle menu is on the table!). Service in general was very slow however we counted at least 6 staff and there were only 4 tables of 2' in! Food read like it should be of a good standard, but actually it's pretty bland. We had the soup & duck terrine to start. Soup was standard tomato and duck very dry and tasteless. For main we had veal and pork belly. The veal was very tough and over cooked, maybe at the time of ordering we should have stated cooking preference? However we have dined places before and haven't had to ask for the veal to be med/rare; assumed this was the standard way to cook it? The belly pork came with soggy cracking, shocking! We didn't really want to waste time waiting for a dessert order to be taken or brought out but figured it was included so we chose 2x cheese boards. We have tasted better cheese from lidl, the Stilton was very chemical tasting and strange texture for a Stilton! Brie was tasteless, I appreciate this is a mild creamy cheese as it is!We left barely eating any cheese, no one asked us how our meal went when we went to sign the cheque.Wine was cheap style rubbish you could buy in a box from the supermarket.Don't make a special trip to eat here, if it's included in a package just pray you have a better evening than we did.

The pate was exactly what you would expect. The goats cheese was tasteless and therefore disappointing. For main course we had fish and a chicken. The fish was simple straightforward food, only Luke warm but edible, nothing memorable. The chicken dish was fine, chicken moist and hot, accompanied with a carrot purée that did work well. Deserts we chose pannacota and cheesecake. The pannacota was good but the accompanying fruits seemed to be frozen fruit and lacked in flavour. The mint and chocolate cheesecake was very heavy and the chocolate dominated and the mint did not come through. Overall it was a meal but nothing special.

I stayed at the Lakeside Park Hotel with my mother and as part of a package deal, dinner was included. We had pre booked and the staff were aware of my dietary requirements (no gluten) and I was given a menu with the choices available to me, which were virtually everything apart from some of the deserts (quite a rarity as most restaurants just remove items from a dish so you end up with less). The staff were very attentive (maybe a little too much but better than being ignored or forgotten which I find worse) and the restaurant clean and modern, well furnished and with a great view over the "lake" (more of a creek). I was given gluten free bread and my mother had a selection of different breads. My mother and I ate the same, local Bembridge crab with mackerel for starter accompanied with celeriac and beetroot jus. For main we had duck with crushed new potatoes, parsnips, braised red cabbage and gravy. For desert we had Eton mess which consisted of individual meringues, cream and raspberries with coulis. It was all delicious! And although we didn't pay separately for the dinner, if we had it would have been fantastic value at only £19.95 for a three course meal. Everything was cooked perfectly and it was faultless. The next night of our stay we ended up not eating in the restaurant as we had afternoon tea on our travels, but ended up in the bar to enjoy a drink and a bowl of chips. The drinks were reasonably priced for a hotel at £4.25 for a small glass of wine (I've paid a lot more in other hotels) and we could relax in comfortable seating overlooking the water. I would recommend coming for dinner/the bar and I know I would like to try everything I could on the menu as it all looked so good!

Firstly, the setting is stunning. Set right on the lake with modern decor, 'mood lighting' etc. it is romantic and atmospheric. We dined from the daily specials menu which was £19.95 for 3 courses which we felt was very good value. Our starters were good and our mains - chicken - were delicious. The meat taste of very good quality and was succulent and beautifully cooked. Dessert was a massive let down - chocolate torte which didn't even have the slightest taste of chocolate. A strange, powdery consistency which resembled icing sugar more than anything else (as an aside the white chocolate sauce it was served with was absolutely delicious - just wish there was more than a teaspoonful of it served!) The set menu also had 'all served with a range of fresh breads' emblazoned on it, but we didn't receive any until our mains arrived and we had to ask for it, at which point there were only a couple of pieces left (one of which was a strange 'fruit and nut' concoction - which was not good!). The service sounds mean and fussy but it was almost too much. We were asked four times if our starter was ok - once before my husband has even picked up his fork to try it! I know attentive service is hard to find, but this was just a little too much. That said, all staff were very friendly and nothing was too much. It would perhaps work better if one certain server was assigned a particular section and it seemed there were lots of them all hovering around all of the same tables.

I have been twice and both times have unfortunately been unimpressed. It all looks like it should be great. Nice selection on the set menu, priced not too badly. Setting is lovely. The first time I went, one of the biggest things I noticed was how dirty the venue was. Under the tables hadn't been cleaned properly. Bits of food leftover from previous diners. The food was also quite unremarkable. This most recent time my main issue was the food. I ordered the goat cheese salad to start. I absolutely adore goats cheese...normally. I this particular salad the goats cheese was supposed to be grilled or bakes, I can't remember exactly. Regardless, when it came out, the cheese was cold and completely solid. I had to cut it quite heavily with a knife. Not at all what I was expecting. And there really wasn't much in the way of flavour. For the main I ordered the duck. What was surprising about this was that when it came out, it looked more like steak than duck. I love steak, so what harm. Unfortunately it just really didn't do it for me. The usual melt in the mouth flavour that you normally expect from duck was nowhere to be found. It just really didn't taste of much at all. The sides that came with the duck were tasty though.Overall I wasn't impressed and probably would not return.

A good restaurant with stunning views. The food was nicely served and my husbands three courses were very good, unfortunately my steak was a bit overlooked,

Had a meal here with my fiance... started ok but got worse....We had a booking for 8pm, we got to the brasserie around half 7 and went to the bar for a drink, all well so far. Then at around the 7:55 the host asked if we'd like to see the menu, I said we'll look at the table. He replied its 5 to 8 have a look.So to be polite we had a scan of the menu and asked to be shown to our table. At this point a waitress asked us to order our food, we hadnt even left the bar, again we said we'll order at the table to which the waitress(1)replied 'but its quicker if you order now' so again we had a quick look and ordered. A different waitress(2) asked if we'd like to go to our table and said she'd give us a few minutes then take our order, we told her the other waitress(1) already asked us to order, she looked confused but said ok...Soon after we had sat down with our drinks from the bar waitress(1) came and took our wine glasses off the table without asking if we'd like any... we asked to see a wine menu and she put the glasses back on the table. We chose some wine, when delivered to the table waitress(1) asked if we'd be ok pouring it ourselves! I've never been asked this in a restaurant before. She then left the table.Considering how rushed we had been to order we were left waiting 25 minutes before the host came and offered some bread as the starter was running late, we declined and 10 minutes later the starter arrived...The starters were excellent, I had duck terrine that came with a beautiful mango and chilli chutney and a spare bbq rib, odd combination but it worked, slightly unusual not to get some form of toast with a terrine but a delicious dish all the same. My wife had a fish starter that she said was excellent. The main.... I had lamb rump with mash and veg. I wasnt asked how I wanted my lamb but it was perfectly cooked, the mash whilst clearly having herbs in it lacked any flavour. The veg was supposed to be purple broccoli and another green although it had been boiled within an inch of its life and had zero flavour. It was served with a jus which seemed to be 90% blood from the rare lamb and again no real flavour. My wife had plaice which was over cooked and very bony, I know it is a bony fish but no attempt had been made to remove any. Again it came with bland potatoes and overcooked veg.Dessert was a tale of two sides. I had a beautiful bread and butter pudding with creme anglaise and a hint of lemon, a top notch desert well prqepared and beautifully presented. My wife had tiramisu and it was more like a white chocolate layered sponge, not a hint of coffee. Very very underwhelming.Overal service was poor and the food was a mix of fantastic and awful. How the restaurant has two AA rosettes is beyond me unless the normal chef and waiting staff were having a thursday night off...

I'd been promised Crab Salad by my husband, but we were having problems finding somewhere. Then we spotted the sign outside the Lakeside Park, so hastily pulled in. What a lovely place! Not the cheapest, but really good value for the standard of the food. The staff were excellent, and the owner took the trouble to do a walk round and speak to the diners. It was a very special experience! I had the Bembridge Crab Salad, which was surrounded by lovely smoked salmon, and was definitely really fresh. My husband had the Plaice and chips; after an initial shock at the number of chips (about 8, but thick ones) he was forced to confess that he could not have managed more! I would love to go back, but it's a bit far from Cornwall! With 2 cokes and 2 coffees, our bill came to £31.50. Well worth it!!

I went on a spa day with a group of 12 family members for a 40th birthday. The Spa was wonderful and they tried there very best to organise all 12 the best they could. We ordered our food when we arrived at 10am. We had a great choice of two courses from a three course menu. Some of us had our treatments and the rest used the spa facilities. Lunch was suppose to be at 1pm. But some treatments over ran. The spa communicated with the Kitchen and Vice verse. We were sat for lunch in the main restaurant, which is vast and laking in something, that none of us could put our finger on. The view is lovely. We were served bread while we waited. This was delicious. Three different types (the waiting staff didn't tell us what they were). Served with oil and vinegar and butter. My starter was the chicken livers. It was very tasty, well presented on the plate and a good sized portion. For main I had the Rump of Lamb, again lovely. The waiting staff didn't present the meal as I would expect. I had forgotten what the components of my meal were by the time it arrived. I would of liked a better description of my meal other than 'Lamb'. I also feel the dishes deserved more. I didn't have the dessert, but they all looked good and empty plates again all round. I also noticed that they had certain lunch deals on and snack menu's. They had a children's menu too. It looks like they try and source as much produce as possible from the island. Definitely worth a try. We found a spa package for £45 for a file and polish and facial or back massage. Which included a 2 course lunch.

If you want a quick bite to eat this is a pretty decent place. The staff are quick to take your order, and in my experience even in the busy period your food is usually done within 5-10 minutes. The price isn't ridiculous, and the burgers are good. My only disappointment was the chips, I found them to be a bit overcooked but other than that, I was happy with my experience.

We came here for afternoon tea - the place was nearly empty, but we did not get to pick a table by the window because they were supposedly booked and apparently you cannot have afternoon tea without prior booking, so all we had was the scones. We also ordered two glasses of champagne which we never received. We had to go up to the counter because no one checked on us again. All in all, very poor service, the furniture and atmosphere are canteen-like and the scones were below average. Definitely wouldn’t come here again.
