Stunning food quality at great prices. Blown away and now my favorite IOW restaurant

Five of us went to the Duck on a very wet stormy evening. The staff were welcoming and food was delicious. Would certainly go again when next in IOW.

Don't ask me how I want my expensive steak cooked if you are just going to serve it Grey 😩Service at the door was rude but warmed slightly. Pork was good. Average for expensive - no thanks.

Valentines night yesterday food was amazing as was the service and atmosphere and we didn't feel rushed despite a two hour table turnaround which was made clear when we booked. Prices are very good and we will return.

The food at the duck was cooked to and presented to a very high standard, and the service was prompt and friendly. But there was just a little left to be desired about the atmosphere, my personal meal, and decor of the restaurant that pipped off one star for me. But that is just me being critical, I would still recommend people eat at this establishment! Firstly (and I know this may sound picky!), the front door isn't the most inviting of things. The decor inside felt slightly dated, and was in need of a bit of modernising to bring it in line with similar restaurants (mainly the white walls with spotlight combo giving it such a clinical feel!). The decor and atmosphere was a little less cosy then we wanted for evening dining. My partner had the belly pork main and it was divine, but my beef shin main fell a little short. You can tell it was cooked fantastically, but I was simply expecting a more aromatic and well.. asian palette from it. However, the dessert of the choux bun was exquisite and I would quite happily grow fat on it every day until I die. The cocktails are also highly recommended and well presented, with a great variety. Overall, an enjoyable meal out with a great staff team.

I have visited this place all the way from honiton as I have come over to visit my auntie, she brought us to this lovely place and I have to say I'm very impressed. I love the view (ironically I love ducks and I can see them on the water from my seat) I ordered the fish cakes and forgot to read what they had in them as I tried crab many years ago and hated it ever since, but after eating these fish cakes I now love crab 🦀 thank you for such an amazing experience. 😊

Very attractive restaurant. Staff were friendly and efficient. Food however was no more than OK. Although I didn't have a pudding, those who did said pavlova was very nice. Was disappointed that somewhere called The Duck, only had pulled duck burger as duck option.

The chef here is excellent. All of our meals on our table were spot on with a few tough critics on the table as well. The turkey roast dinners were perfection along with the desserts, we seriously can't wait to come back.

Great location relaxing ambience wonderful food attentive and happy staff. Great value for money highly recommended for a lovely evening with friends or family.

Had wonderful lunch today very professional staff great food. Wonderful welcome by Young blond lad at bar. Welcomed in by the Lady on duty and she looked after us so well. Will be back!

Love this place, great food and service

Friendly enough with a good wine selection but never before have I been served a Sunday roast without potatoes. My dining companions were similarly underwhelmed by bland food. Could be so much better.

This is our 4th year in a row eating at the Duck when staying on the island and we are yet to have a bad meal. The food is expensive but you get what you pay for here.

Just had dinner and pudding the meals were perfect and the staff were very helpful and friendly. Would definitely recommend.

Just an exceptional Sunday lunch and very reasonably priced.

The staff were very friendly, the drinks were great, the food was delicious. I had the Crispy Pork Belly and it was so good, it was beautifully crispy and probably the best I've ever had, not too fatty and perfectly marbled and the couscous and veg that accompanied was was so good, my husband had the daily special which was fish with linguine and he really enjoyed it. We had starters (not pictured) these were small and pretty expensive but tasty. The mains were bigger than expected I would say. The puddings were also very generous in size and very sweet. I would recommend this place and would go back for sure!

Absolutely amazing experience. Staff were so friendly and hospitable making adjustments for food allergies. Service was super quick and attentive. Location was beautiful with such an amazing view. The food was amazing and came quickly. Amazing presentation. Would 10/10 recommend best meal we’ve had in a long time! Will definitely be coming back

A wonderful treat to include on our trip to the Isle of Wight…we received a very warm welcome, with very thoughtful caring service, alongside the high quality, very excitingly presented delicious culinary delights. Had an amazing Sunday lunch at The Duck yesterday. The focaccia and various butters as sharing nibbles was a fantastic intro. A great selection of starters, roast beef cooked to perfection and topped off by an incredible chocolate dessert. Staff were very attentive and friendly and food was excellent. Would highly recommend.

We went here to celebrate a birthday and were greeted by a birthday card which was a lovely touch. The food was good and location very nice. The only downsides were having to pay for parking and the service from the lady behind the bar. The 3 serving staff were very friendly and did a great job, but this was ruined by the lady behind the bar who was a little blunt and rude. Disappointed that this is the only restaurant I have ever been to that would not allow us to use our own birthday cake.

We just enjoyed a lovely birthday lunch at The Duck. I had the duck leg and it was the best I've ever had, so moist and tasty. Everyone else really enjoyed their meal also. The restaurant is lovely and the staff is super friendly.

Loved the place. Amazing food, amazing service and beautifully presented dishes. It's not a party place but a quiet and peaceful place to have lunch or dinner.

We had a table booked for 5 for a birthday, we didn't have to wait to be seated as the table was free. Staff made a birthday very special by putting a birthday card on the table signed by all of the staff whoch was such a lovely touch. The food was absolutely incredible and the cocktails were superb. I want to thank every member of staff for being so incredibly kind and orofessional. The duck is very much recommended. Thank you 😊 💜

Last night went to The Duck in Ryde. I ordered Masala Mushroom, very disappointed. It was very bland no taste what so ever. The sauce thin and runny. Definition of Masala is Indian spices. There was certainly no Indian spices in this meal.

Great food and very friendly and attentive staff. Very relaxing atmosphere and the confit duck is divine! All items on the menu sound (and I’m sure taste) delicious! If you are on the Isle of Wight, I would highly recommend!

Had an amazing evening out for my wife's birthday. The atmosphere was great and the staff were so welcoming, polite and friendly. The food was second to none, every bite was pure bliss, haven't had a meal nearly as amazing in many years! The attention to detail was very much appreciated and we can't wait to return! Most definitely the best place to eat on the island!

Amazing food. Probably the best on the island. Customer service is the worse our party of 4 has ever had. Despite the amazing quality of food none of our party would go again as the customer service was so bad to the point of being uncomfortable.

Enjoyed a lovely Sunday lunch celebrating my friend's birthday. The dishes were well presented and very tasty, hence only one photo of the food, the atmosphere was vibrant yet relaxed, the wait staff was competent and warm and the cocktails we had went down a treat. Reservations are a must.

As a Birthday present this was excellent.The food was delicious in there restaurant. And we certainly do it again.

We were looking for a restaurant in Ryde for a good lunch as a birthday treat. We traveled to Ryde by train to Portsmouth, across on the catamaran and strolled along to this lovely gem of a restaurant. The menu choice was good and the quality of food was excellent. Beautifully presented with lovely flavours and superb service. A lovely relaxed lunch before wandering back along the esplanade to catch the boat home. Thoroughly recommended.

We booked for our anniversary meal last night. Our meals were fantastic, and the staff were really helpful and friendly. As a surprise, there was an anniversary card on our table signed by the staff and happy anniversary cocktail sticks in our desserts. Highly recommended.

Ok. Based on reviews I had high expectations. Starter duck with poached egg. Well the egg was fridge temperature. On top of warm duck meat. The main was a whole fried fish and that was good. Also not a lot to get wrong here. On the whole a more fast food experience since starters came within minutes. And even with the fried fish on the bone mains were only a short while later. Not even 60 m and we had cocktails starter and main. Might be back if in a hurry to get fed.

Good food and nice airy restaurant, but let down by the fact that we ordered 5 roast dinners and we only got one little pot of gravy between us, also only one little pot of horseradish sauce for 4 roast beef dinners. Service was quick.

Wonderful find. Our family live on the Isle of Wight and took us to The Duck for lunch. What a fantastic meal and ambience. The menu was excellent and the staff so attentive. Highly recommend-especially the sea bass and the pork belly burger. Wow! Not cheap but so worth a visit.

Absolutely amazing time at The Duck. Meals were served with a smile and such attention to detail. I turned up with a birthday badge (as it was my 22nd) and as soon as I sat down they brought over a card signed by all the staff which was just lovely. Any time I glanced over to the bar to try and catch someone's attention to ask for something, they would catch my eye and come straight over, which was lovely as it meant no awkwardness. Food came quickly and was absolutely gorgeous to look at and to taste! Cocktails were amazing too. And the restaurant environment just added to the whole experience. It was intimate, with lovely music, just felt very romantic and also welcoming. The setting was gorgeous too with the pond and views of the sea. I would give The Duck more than 5 stars if I could. A really lovely, intimate, high quality restaurant and would recommend to anyone visiting the IoW.

Went to the duck to celebrate a significant birthday whilst on the island. From the birthday card to the food and service I couldn't fault it. Look forward to going again loved it.

Spent another birthday meal here and have to say it was probably better than last time. Food was amazing and absolutely worth the trip from the West Wight. Lovely atmosphere and layout of the restaurant, staff were friendly, an all round fab experience and I would highly recommend trying The Duck.

Once again at our go-to IOW restaurant after a 2 year COVID hiatus. Once again a great meal with a new menu. Same excellent ambience and attentive staff, great choice of drinks and a dessert selection which gave my wife terrible trouble in deciding which to have! Superb pan-fried Seabass and beautifully flavoured Carribbean jerk tiger prawns. If I had a minor niggle it was that the soup was red hot when it arrived. All in all a great meal, and will definitely be back very soon.

Incredible food, really nice venue, lovely staff and really well priced. The food was absolutely delicious and high quality, would recommend to anyone visiting the island. It's also in a really nice area along the water where you can walk before or afterwards. Will definetely be coming back!

Brilliant cozy restaurant with locally sourced food (i was told restaurant owner has own garlic farm on IOW). Staff was excellent and attentive; the service was quick. Food was divine, everyone enjoyed even most of us had different dishes. Definitely will be back.
