Firstly big shout out to Charlotte (manager), Ben, Cameron, little Charlotte and Natalie. What amazing staff they are, nothing too much trouble for these folk. Hotel really needs some work and it would be a fabulous place. Marvellous location right by beach. Some issues with our room on arrival which were sorted immediately whilst we relaxed with a cup of tea. Cannot praise staff enough, they made our holiday

Just left the place very disappointed. Ordered carrot&coriander soup, calamari and caesar salad . The soup came with bread without butter, testless and coriander was presented in dry form of the herb spreaded around the plate. The salad was with half yellow leaves, with bacon (!) , chicken and sauce what was tested as salad sauce not cheese sauce. It did not have parmesan either. When I complain about the sauce as my daugher does not eat mayonnaise, the chef said it is caesar salad sauce like we never tried it before. The calamari were nice, but my daugher left hungry as she could not eat this salad as was not like caesar as was lacking main ingredient parmasan cheese in it. Overall - awful for the money spent.

It was amazing, I had 10oz rump steak and opted for a peppercorn sauce. It was served with all the trimmings. I can honestly say that it is the best rump steak I have had. So tender and juicy. My husband had a homemade burger with blue cheese, bacon and served with chips and salad. Plate was clean and he was very happy. Our friends had the fish and chip special. Served with peas, tartar sauce and a generous wedge of lemon. Plates again were empty. Great chef, great place and service. Very happy with the prices. Some of our guests had a sunday roast platter and they will be going back. Would advise booking a table. We will be back.

Breakfast was definitely the best meal with toast, juice, cereal, and full English. Dinner wasn’t as good, the service was slower and there were less choices The rooms were pretty good.

We wanted to check out this hotel as we've moved to the Island so nice to go to different places for food or just a beer. The drinks we're fine and reasonable. Young girl behind the bar was very pleasant. They need to spend a bit of money on the decor and toilets, the ladies only had 1of two cubicles working. We would return, it has the makings of a nice bar but needs work found ASAP. To be fair it's still early in the year so assuming this will happen before the holiday season starts.

We stayed here for three nights from 27th - 30th July. It is a budget Hotel, so be warned! In truth it would benefit from a complete refurbish, but that would be an expensive and risky investment, and of course push prices up. Little things would help though. the bathroom was very dimly lit and the light over the sink did'nt work. The receptionist told us the manager could not replace the bulb because the fitting was so old, bulbs for it were no longer available! So a small investment to replace lights would be good. Also, there was nowhere to hang bath towels, a small rail held the hand towels, a couple of hooks on the wall would suffice, manager take note! Our room was pleasent enough, spacious with plenty of storage space and a sea view. Food was - just ok- not much choice, eg; on our first night the two hot dishes were, ham,egg and chips or chicken curry, the rest were salads, so very basic, however nicely presented. Cooked breakfasts were fine, but not much fruit provided.I diagree with lottiep58 - everything was NOT homemade!!Staff were pleasent and helpful

We visited the hotel on 16 June on arrival the frontage looked very tired and overgrown the lobby looked the same it was obvious the hotel was going through restoration but thay didn't seem to be doing much maybe it's because the season had started so I will give them the benefit of the doubt ,We got our room key and found it to be very clean but the curtain rail was coming away from the wall we told the manager three times it fell on deaf ears ,But after saying that the staff where second to none very helpful ,the entertainment was ok especially the young lady she was a brilliant singer, The food was good especially the breakfast ,I only had one bad meal, the chef made a mistake with the menu and cooked pork instead of beef not everyone likes pork he new this earlier in the day so had plenty of time to cook some beef but no thay sent out for some and we got sandwich beef put into pork gravy it was discussting, But overall we had a very good holiday and yes I would go again.

Service, food, experience great. Friendly and attentive staff, Hazel, Paddy, John and Debbie (our little angel) couldn't do enough for us. Couldn't fault it. Great to be greeted with free tea and coffee not only on arrival but every afternoon as well as mulledd wine and mince pies on christmas day! Hotel isin second phase of renovation after being unused for several years, although this is taking place there was no distrubance to the trip as no work was done whilst we were there - it will be a big hotel when all finished and wish them all the best for the future. If our experience is anything to go by it will be a great success and out match the competition. Thank you

We chose this restaurant on the basis of other reviews and were very disappointed with the quality of the food. Our order included goat's cheese and cranberry tart which contained hardly any cheese, something purporting to be moules mariniere (mussels cooked in white wine) that was in a creamy kind of sauce and included two unopened shells (every recipe I've ever read for mussels says you should discard unopened ones) and tough steak. It did not represent good value for money.

We happened to pass by the Gracellie Hotel, on the way down Hope Road, to the beach, with a couple of my male and female friends, including my 6 year old son, and Jack Russell dog. One of us noticed they had a public bar, so went in, to keep out of the February cold. It was amazing! They allowed dogs, and had a water bowl ready waiting for him! They even had a pool table (40p a go!), darts, juke box, pinball machine, massive TV, and on Friday nights they apparently have a DJ! We all had something to do, even my young son got to have a go on the pinball machine. No more resounding cries of "I'm bored". We took a brochure and the rooms were gorgeous (far better than where we are staying, but that's another story....) and reasonably priced. We had dinner there and it was absolutely amazing, even my son who is as fussy as they come, ate everything, and asked for ice cream afterwards....this is a boy who only eats chips! The staff were warm and friendly and didn't bat an eye when my son begged them for a free go on the pinball machine. The barman handed him 50p from his own pocket! This is the best bar I have ever been to, and if I lived here, it would be my local. From now on, anytime we visit the Isle of Wight we will stay at the Gracellie Hotel. 10 out of 10.

I will always remember The Gracellie Hotel, it's where I came in with my boyfriend and left a couple of hours later with my fiance! My boyfriend normally comes here to have a drink and play pool with his brother, in the downstairs bar and is always raving about it. He decided to spoil me for Valentines Day, and reserved a table for the two of us. When we turned up, our table was elaborately decorated with balloons and flowers, and soft romantic music playing....nothing to do with him, the hotel staff did this for all the Valentines Day diners, a wonderful touch! We had the most gorgeous fresh fish for our main course and my dessert was to die for. I enjoy a good wine, and the wine was absolutely superb. My boyfriend proposed to me, and I of course accepted. The setting was romantic, classy, and the staff professional. We were so impressed with the whole Valentines Day experience, and my fiance extremely happy with the bill (a first), that we have decided to hire this hotel as our wedding venue. There is an outdoor decking area overlooking the sea, and I have already started planning my wedding photos. With a hotel and restaurant like The Gracellie, we need look no further. I wish to thank the staff for creating a wonderful memory, and making another in the not too distant future.

Found this hotel with a restaurant open and inviting. Called in on Friday and was so impressed. The dining room was very comfortable and spacious. Had the fish which was superb, cooked to perfection and so fresh and moist. Sadly was driving but my friends enjoyed the house wine a fairly priced £11.95. The total bill for 3 was £62.00 and truly a bargain for all the care and politeness from the just right staff. Will hope that I'll be able to return soon as I have no complaints.... Also intend to stay so that I can dine in peace. Thanks to all the staff, wonderfull!!

We enjoyed a visit to the botanical gardens & decided to stop in to their cafe /restaurant for a bite to eat I must say that the views were stunning looking out onto the gardens , we were lucky enough to get a table on the veranda where a local choir were singing & it made our day The food menu is quite limited but there were a nice selection of cakes available & lots of unusual teas too The food we did order was delicious .. but they were small portions for the price ( I must admit it was one our most expensive eats while on the isle of wight!) All in all a great setting to enjoy a cup of tea & drink but maybe wouldn’t go back for food
