The best restaurants in Southgate Crawley South East

This is a lovely place for freshly cooked quality food. There's a great selection of meals. The prices are very reasonable.The staff are friendly and helpful.

Best chips I've ever had from a fish and chip shop. Wonderful. Will go there regularly from now. Friendly staff reasonable prices. 5 *****

I had the makhani curry and it was watery and the quality of the chicken was poor and I think they needed to get the scales checked out as my wife's 10oz gammon was nowhere near the 10oz on the menu and I am a butcher who deals with weights all day, the food did arrive promptly but wished we had gone elsewhere but we have eaten at premier inns in Manchester,Leeds,Newcastle,Edinburgh and another in London and never had a problem.

The pub had a warm and inviting atmosphere, with friendly staff and delicious food. The drinks were top-notch, and the music created a lively vibe. It was the perfect spot to relax and catch up with friends, great for a casual night out.

Visited with Mum and oh boy! We had such a lovely time. Holly looked after us, she was so funny and friendly. No January diet for us, we enjoyed our burgers and have to blame Holly for “making us” eat desserts too. Everyone has to try the Tripe Chocolate Brownie! :D I’m defo bringing Mum back for Mother’s Day and until then I will be returning with friends to drink more of that Picpoul!

Ordered a prawn bathia,every time I’ve had it elsewhere it’s been a rich red colour,not here ,it came and was a dirty dish water grey colour ,no flavour whatsoever I threw 90% of it into the bin 2nd dish of chicken shaslick masala lacked any flavour aswell,rice was hard ,only reason for one star was onion bhaja was ok Bombay aloo also lacked any flavour and the pototoes looked as if something had been poured over them to hide how bad they were We snacked on the onion bhaja and homemade naan bread Very disappointed,this after it was recommended to us

This place has had a revamp.The decor is stunning, the new seating is so homely and comfortable. The food…wow, just incredible. I’ve been eating here on and off for several years. Several years ago this place was right up there as far as a curry in Sussex will give you. I’m happy to say that the food tonight was exceptional, incredible even. The Downsman has got its mojo back.

Spent a lovely, family New Year here. The staff really went out of their way to make sure everyone was served beautifully and the fireworks really were the icing on the cake - great night, great pub! Will be going again

This place used to be one of the best around but in recent months it has slowly declined. Quality and quantity is reducing gradually while prices are increasing. Chips are hard and dry and portion sizes are inconsistent. Fish much smaller and a large portion now resembles small elsewhere. Such a shame... time to go elsewhere

Franchise Owner was in behind the preparation and POS area and was coughing in to his hands . Some effort to turn away but no hand washing before then touching the POS that stage also do, the counter, the fridge to get his drink. Disgusting.

This is a takeaway. I had a chicken shish. The salad was very sparse and the chicken had an off flavour as did the pitta. I couldn’t eat it. My partner had a chicken doner and again, hardly any salad and taste was awful. The whole dinner was disgusting and I wouldn’t feed it to an animal. Wish I had taken pics, but didn’t think
