Ordered 3 breakfasts the first arrived minus hash browns and no cutlery, waited 5 minutes for cutlery by which time food was getting cold, was told hash browns would be soon, second meal arrived poached eggs cold and more like hard boiled, 3rd dish arrived poached eggs again over cooked, still no hash browns, asked again and 1 hash brown arrived in a pot which was delivered with a surly attitude, not once did anyone ask if the food was ok. Very poor food and the staff looked disinterested, for £48 I would expect better quality food and service.

Really lovely atmosphere and decor. It is great that they have locally sourced produce where possible. Also good friendly service. It is certainly on the higher end price wise. We came in for a lovely breakfast and had the shakshuka and added chorizo, and the poached eggs on toast with added feta, mushrooms and chorizo. We then had a coffee and an apple juice each. Adding things such as chorizo or feta to a meal does incur some additional costs to the base price of the meal. Both meals were lovely and well cooked. Combined with the service charge the final bill came to around £67. Which for two people for a breakfast is on the higher end. The quality of ingredients and food is great, plus with locally sourced produce understand the higher prices. But would we return for breakfast again? As a very rare treat maybe.

Can't comment on food only really have hot drinks. The staff are efficient and friendly, drinks are well made with a good range of seasonal drinks.

A new standard in excellence! You ask for it and they will provide! Ordered the George burger for dinner..... with extra burger, extra bacon and 2 x eggs and what an absolute MONSTER it was! Cooked to perfection with crispy fries and slaw. The new chef is making his mark and it's well worth checking out.

Disappointing customer service does not come close to my experience in the East street store today. I had just had dental surgery and went in to buy a drink with a straw as I couldn’t move my mouth properly. The trainee barista a young lady was both incredibly rude and passive aggressive. She glared at me when I made my order and proceeded to bang the milk carton on the counter, throw the syrup angrily when I told her that she hadn’t given me the correct order. She angrily asked questions and when I couldn’t speak up due to not being able to open my mouth she repeated herself in a very unpleasant tone. I tried to tell her twice that I had just had dental surgery so that she knew I was not being unhelpful but she didn’t listen having decided that my drooping mouth was due to me being miserable and not because I couldn’t move it. She was passive aggressive in her every communication and made me feel uncomfortable and upset. It made me think if I had a permanent disability or issue with communication that I would never return to the store again. It should not be okay for a customer facing staff member thinks that it is okay to behave in this manner. As she is a trainee I hope that whoever trains her steps up and does a better job before people stop going to the store.

Ate there for lunch in January and had the parsnip dumplings. Dry as bone, no sauce to speak of. Bland, bland, bland. Parents had fish which was dry and overcooked. The only salvation was our charming waiter who couldn't do enough to redeem the situation. Sadly, he was unable to change the menu or dishes. Seems like we weren't the only guests to complain about the dishes. Apparently, the chef does not take kindly to negative feedback, so staff are reluctant to tell him! How ridiculous. Come on folks, for the price you command, you can do MUCH better than this please. We've eaten there before and had a very pleasant meal.

I arrived at the upstairs bar and grill at around 5.15pm. It was half empty and I was approached by a man who I assume was the manager. I asked for a table for two, of which there were plenty. In a rather condescending tone he informed me that they were fully booked. I drew his attention to all the empty tables and was told rather abruptly and unapologetically that they would be occupied later. As it was not yet 5.30pm I think it would have been polite of him to perhaps have said, 'We are expecting a rush at about six o' clock, but you are welcome to a table until then'. After all they serve only drinks and snacks.

Lovely pub if you're looking for somewhere for a quiet meal. Good variety of food (decent sized menu plus specials) which all tastes home cooked and decent quality at a reasonable price. Pub is a little on the chilly side at winter but completely understandable given how ridiculous energy costs are nowadays and how much it must cost to attempt to heat large high ceiling rooms with single glazing - just make sure you wear a jumper in cooler months and you'll be fine. Friendly service and nice decor.

I have been visiting for the past 28 or so years - lovely quaint tearoom - decor not changed at all but this is the way I like it - lovely private garden - I always have the brown fruit scones which are lovely and their welsh rarebit is really tasty - yes its expensive but worth it - no nasties in the food!

I was given my panini in a cardboard container. When I asked for a plate, because the contents was leaking, I was greeted by a dismissive attitude by the staff saying ‘pardon’ again I asked for a plate. I pointed to the the clean plates and was told it’s takeaway only. I certainly won’t come back again. Customer service was nonexistent, rude and disrespectful.
