I came to the restaurant with friends for breakfast after being recommended by a work colleague and must say what an experience, the food was fantastic, we paid for the hot buffet which also includes a fresh continental breakfast, the service from Cindy, Annie and Paul was first class and very professional, the breakfast was cooked well, with a vast option, an overall enjoyable experience for just £10:99 each, would highly recommend and will be visiting again.
Found this place by chance whilst searching the net for b&bs in Basingstoke. How lucky we were-it's a little gem. Located right next to the River Lodden, it's an old mill which has been tastefully renovated so that it has lost none of its charm. The reception/bar area is tastefully dressed and the area leading down to the restraunt gave us a big surprise as all the old works of the mill were on display. The area outside had plenty of seating alongside the river bank. The accommodation of 12 rooms are situated in a quieter area away from the main building. Our room had a huge king size bed, plenty of storage and a big walk in shower. The room was very clean and tidy and we had a good sleep. We ate in the outer bar area and the food was top notch. The description pub grub does not do it justice. We had fish and chips and it was excellently cooked with a light, crisp batter-just as we like it. Breakfast was included in the room rate and again was excellent. We had the eggs benedict. Finally, and importantly a big thank you to the staff who were polite, attentive and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble, so a big 10/10 for them. Will definitely return and recommend it for sure.
Staff are always really friendly and attentive. Our waitress noticed our mains had been some time since our starters(we didn’t even notice as we’re busy chatting) she chased up the kitchen, told us there had been a ticket issue, apologised and gave us a free round of drinks. Over and above, what excellent service!
Really good and excellent value.
Came here with some friends on Tuesday and was kindly greeted by two of the staff. Throughout the night I thought service was great and made me want to come back for a drink another day
We were crammed into a table, despite two thirds of the restaurant being empty on a Friday night. Despite firm pressing, we weren't moved. My dish was average, not enough in it, more sauce than anything else. I wouldn't visit again.
Always loved going here but today the curry sauce was lumpy not the normal yummy one and my fish batter tasted like sea food so disappointed won’t go back again
Y has this shop been closed down. Not surprised as service was very poor and quality was that good. U order something from menu and it came out not like the picture
Popped in to the cafe today just for a coffee.
1st time visit and it's lovely.
It was busy and food that was coming out looked absolutely amazing. Huge compliments to the HEAD CHEF and Congratulations also to the Head Chef and staff for the 5 star rating!
I ordered delivery through just eat. Saw their pamphlet on my door step and was craving some flavorful soup as I wasn’t feeling well. The ordered arrived in 15mins, which was surprising as on the website it was showing one hour. We were happy but when we opened the food except the crackers nothings tasted good. We ordered two Tom yum soup as it’s our go to from any Thai place. But trust me this is the worse I have ever had. No lemon grass, no galangal and no kaffir…. are you serious??? How is it even a Tom yam soup then. It was just flavored water with few mushrooms, prawns and cherry tomato. I was so disappointed we paid 14 pounds for that :/ we also ordered Pad Pring so we thought let’s try that, might be better but again disappointed 😔 the Pad pring had three chillies on the menu shown for the spicy level but this wasn’t even close to spicy nor there was salt, it was just bland. Paid nearly 30GBP for this food. Biggest regret ever. Please don’t write “taste of Thailand” on the menu when it’s not even close to it.
Only Greggs out of the three in Basingstoke to have a piping hot sassauge and bean melt. Not a single thing I could possible complain about. Flaky and delightful only regret is not buying another
Pretty average and nothing special to be honest. Had the house special curry with fried rice and prawn crackers. Very cheap compared to the other in the area but I won’t return. The flavour was extremely garlicky and the prawn crackers are very poor quality. Booker specials £2.99 for a million discs. Sorry to say but quality products will improve value and customer experience
