Ordered a takeaway/delivery according to good reviews. Zinger king prawn was just pure sugar. Chicken bhuna dry as anything. ETA 7.35 turned up way after 8.

The food was ok but the person who served was very rude. I will not recommend this for a happy time with family

Food was lovely, couldn't fault it. The waiter though, was a different story - what a moody, miserable man he was. Very abrupt in his manner to us, so gruff & rude, threw things down & generally banged things around in the restaurant, the entire time we were there. Between serving, he kept checking his phone & couldn't have made it any more obvious that he was in a very bad mood & clearly didn't want to be working there that night. We did not feel welcome or indeed wanted by him. Spoiled the evening completely for us......

A stand out experience both in terms of the sheer quality and authenticity of the food coupled with the customer service from the owner. This restaurant has been run by the present owners for less than a year and so should not be judged on the historical reviews. I will definitely return to explore more of the dishes and experience the breakfast menu/cookery course.

Had a quick curry here with my friend. One of the best places to go for a cheep decent curry in Basingstoke. We always enjoy it. The owner is such a friendly guy. On this visit, the owner made a customer starter dish for me to try and I told him I enjoyed it at another restaurant. Always goes out of his way to please his customers.

Ordered over the phone, 5 meals. After the man read the order back and we had agreed everything over the phone only to find out when the food arrived that one of the mains was missing. We phoned back to resolve the issue when the rude man blatantly told us he hadn’t written it down, we asked if we can get the dish sent out to which his answer was no as he doesn’t know when his delivery driver would be back. The food was average at best the chicken was very dry and hair was found in the food.

Excellent restaurant! Visiting from the US and decided to stop in for a curry. So glad I did! The food lamb Biryani was outstanding. The service was spot on as well. Highly recommended.

I visited Tuli recently on a Saturday night when I was staying in Basingstoke. I was there at 8pm and had pre-booked but there was only one other diner present. The quality of food was very good. I had a chicken tikka starter and korma for main, both of high quality and good value for money. However, the service was very abrupt and heavy handed and I had to twice ask for my drink as the staff prioritised their take away delivery service. They showed little interest in whether I enjoyed my meal (even though I did) and didn't seem to like me asking them things. He seemed surprised when I asked for a receipt. Other reviewers seem to have had similar experiences. I will give 3 stars for the high quality food but if I visit the town again the manner of service will put me off returning to Tuli.

We were let down by a neighbouring venue and the bar staff in the pub we were drinking in recommended the Tuli. It wasn't great in my opinion, very busy which is always a good sign, but maybe not if you want the best food and service. Both our main dishes were under spiced and too generic to have any wow factor. the service was professional but not friendly. The prices were fine and on another day, it may be great, just not this night

First visit for 2 years and the quality food and friendly staff are the big plus at this restaurant. Always friendly staff. The food is a very good quality and plenty of variety. Ordered a meal for delivery, rang the order through at 5.15pm, order delivered at 6.50. Everything was cold so had to go in the oven for 15 minutes to heat through. Chicken in the Biryani was very dry an inedible, the tarka dal had no garlic in it at all. Very disappointing

I would like to know how long ago the meat was cooked before being added to the dish, both my wifes and mine the meat was dry and over cooked, my personal opinion is the meat is pre cooked then tossed in to the dish last minute, chicken should be soft moist and sweet, not hard and lifeless.

What a great evening. Myself and my family had a meal on Saturday 19th September. The service was great, the food was delicious.

I ordered via Just Eat and the order was cancelled, when I called the restaurant they explained they’d never received the order, when I called Just Eat they told me the restaurant had IT issues that prevented the order from going through....so I waited over 2 hours to Just Not Eat. If you enjoy low calorie food this place is amazing.

The food wasnt that great, especially considering you have other much better options for Indian food or other food very near by. The service was also a bit slow. Ordered palak panner, basmati rice and some kind of chicken.

My son who lives in Basingstoke had an evening out for his stag night we went to the Tuli for a meal at the start of the evening, the service was great and the food was excellent portion sizes were good and nothing was to much trouble. It’s a pity that I do not live closer as I would use this restaurant more often.

Popped in with my fiancée while we were staying at the hotels across the road. The service was good, attentive and pleasant waiters. It was busy (even on a Monday) and lots of takeaways going out the door, so all good signs of decent food. The menu was what you’d expect and fairly vast actually. Pleasantly surprised to find a NZ Sauvignon blanc on the wine menu. The food came quick, the chicken balti was excellent. It was really good value for money, we’d go again.

The main dishes were excellent, rice could be improved. What was not acceptable was the service by the elder gent on a Tuesday night, we were given a small table on a quiet night, ordered quite a few dishes and asked could we move to a bigger table, to be told this is a table for 2 and the service went for poor to bad and close to rude. Other staff were great. I would go here again, but would insist in this person being far away from our table.

Popped into Tuli's for something to eat and to recharge our batteries after our 2 hour Motown show 6 til 8pm. A very warm welcome, lovely table looking out of the window. Service was excellent. The range and quality of thier cuisine is always very good. If you like authentic curry's this place is a must to visit.

I eat here regularly. Always great food and friendly atmosphere. Cold beer and a warm hand shake. Manager and his son are brilliant hosts.

Tuli gets better and better. This time no disappointments as the Service was excellent, food was fantastic and the environment was 5*. I recommend Tuli and will always go back. Keep going, you deserve 5 stars.

Ordered delivery on the app, waited 2hrs only to be delivered a stone cold meal ( not bad only been using tuli for 10 years + ) will be using saffron Indian in Brighton hill near asda from now on

Arrived on a Friday night without a booking. They squeezed us in which was great. Service very good, with the waiter even suggesting a tastier alternative to the usual vindaloo. He was right, his suggestion was great

You'll need to book ahead to get some of this quality Indian grub, because there aren't many seats! Well worth the trouble though.

A return visit in the new year, a Friday night, with 4 other Grumpy Old Men (GOM's) - an excellent selection of foods and drink with what looks like a new menu. The food was excellent, the welcome and service of high quality, and value for money. We will definitely revisit. Can't think why with all this going on the restaurant was not more busy. I've never had a bad word to say for Tuli and recommend this venue.

We booked a table for Four on new years eve for approx 7:30pm. On entering the restaurant the waiter looked around for a table for us. All the tables were laid ready for diners. He took us to a table up a short flight of steps near the kitchen door. There was only six other people in the restaurant at this stage. So we thought all the other tables must be booked. No one else came into the restaurant all evening. The walls are dirty and could do with a coat of paint. A bright light above the table did not create any ambience.

Ordered a takeaway from this restaurant. The portions served are laughable.. ordered chilli paneer and lamb tikka for £3.95 each and was shocked to see how tiny the portions were.. called and spoke to the manager who was not apologetic at all and kept saying that they were starters and thats how the portions are.. We have eaten at nearly every restaurant in Basingstoke and this guy has the audacity to tell us that its normal for starters to have such tiny portions.. will stay away from this restaurant and ask all my friends to never visit this restaurant ever again...

We (the guys- 20 of us) go to a difference restaurant every 6/8 weeks and try to have a different experience each time. The menu was booked in advance and the restaurant gave us a great deal. Being a Tuesday night it wasn’t too busy, we had excellent service and great food. The restaurant was incredibly organised and would definitely recommend it to all. We will be returning.

Ordered a takeaway for delivery. I was told it would be 1 hour as they were busy. It took 1.5 hours. Driver didn't apologise it was cold, very greasy and horrid. The bag it came in was swimming with grease!

My boyfriend and I bought a take away meal and the quality was awful. We ordered one chicken rogan josh and one chicken korai with one portion of plain rice to share, plus two popadoms with the usual dips/sauces, and a keema naan to share. The dips/sauces barely covered one popadom - not enough for two, the rice was cold - not even like warm on arrival, the two Indian dishes had such dry chicken it was not edible- chewy chicken even with their respective sauces. NEVER AGAIN!!! DON’T BOTHER - WASTE OF MONEY!!

Visited on a Wednesday night as was bang opposite hotel I was stopping in with colleagues. Very handy. Poppadoms were good, accompaniments average, only as the onion one wasn’t chopped small enough for me. Chicken tikka balti with naan was decent with nice portion size. With rice and cobra beer cane to a very reasonable £17. What’s not to like.

Wow. One of the tastiest Indian meals I have had. I had the chicken Tikka Balti which came with a really moist tasty Naan. The mushroom pilau rice was very tasty. The sag aloo was very nice too. Started with two poppadoms and sauces which were pleasant too. Even the music was good.

Went here with a client on their recommendation. Food was very nice and tasty. I opted for the chicken jalfezi which had a good kick to it. Service was a tad slow. Good curry house though if in Basingstoke.

A really lovely Indian restaurant. The staff were friendly and helpful, and fitted us in even though we were there late as had been to see a show at the Anvil first. The food was delicious and there was plenty of it.

Visited on a Friday night with 5 of us old boy's having a "lads night out" - we visit once a month or so - never fail to deliver quality food, welcoming, attentive and friendly atmosphere. They have revised the menu and 5 of of us all agreed it was an excellent meal. The Tuli is normally full of clients but this evening we all seemed thin on the ground.I really recommend the Tuli at the top of Town - you won't be disappointed and the revised menu is an excellent choice.

We always come to Tuli whenever we eat Indian food, great service even when really busy and delicious food every time. Will keep coming back and highly recommend. Not sure why there are mixed reviews for the great well run restaurant.

Very Disappointing Vegetable Curry - mainly Onion, not that difficult to throw in a few proper vegetables given the range of Vegetable side dishes.

Visited here as part of a (not rowdy) Stag party. Seated in the window on a long table - The food was standard fare mostly, with a few special dishes on the menu - Everything was cooked well, the poppadoms crisp and clean with the usual sidesA decent range of sub continental beers along with a full bar. Reasonable value for money, as the mains sat in a decent £8-10 price bracket. There was even a complimentary sambucca round at the end (for those who dared)

Book in advance because it's a small place with awesome food. Good for two large parties at once with five or six table left for couples. Pleasant staff. Well positioned for a good lash-up when you stumble out with your guts bouncing.

This was our first visit to Tuli Tandoori and we weren't disappointed. We were visiting Basingstoke for two nights, staying at the Red Lion hotel which is virtually opposite this restaurant. The menu is full of both traditional dishes and Chefs specials. The staff are very friendly and helpful and if you are not sure they will take time out to explain the dishes. They will also adapt them to your particular taste with regards to chilli heat etc. We will definitely be eating here again during our next visit to Basingstoke.

Tuli won't let you down, whether it is a takeaway or eat in meal. Onion bhajis are awesome, food is consistently of high quality. In my opinion Basingstoke's best curry house.

I had been here a few times before and it was always ok. Then I started using another Indian/Bangladeshi restaurant in Basingstoke. That one shut down.Too be honest I was not expecting very much from The Tuli, so I was pleasantly surprised. We had our old favourites Chicken Jalfrezi,Chicken Shashlik,Jeera rice,Cauliflower bhajeeAnd a garlic naan.Each dish was well spiced, tasty and well presented. The staff were very courteous and even remembered me from years ago.The one thing that seems to let this type of restaurant down is consistency. Maybe they have different chefs, cooking things to their own interpretation of the recipe. I don't know, but it feels that way sometimes.Anyway, give it a try, it's good.

We had a take-away from this restaurant, but the tables were nicely set and the waiter and the owner were friendly and helpful when we placed our order and waited for the food. The eating area is not large, so I would suggest you try and book or eat early.We were there at 6pm and already there were a few people eating.The bhuna and rogan josh were excellent and the naan bread was large.

Tuli s doesnt look spectacular form the outside- but the range of dishes is excellent- if you like Indian and related food- and the curries are really good. In addition the service is excellent- no frills just good food.The lamb dishes stood out for me.

5 of us visited on a Friday night and as always had an excellent meal. The service and welcome is always warm. The quality and value of the food is exceptional. The restaurant is located at the top of Town so its an interesting place to watch the Basingstoke nightlife! I recommend this restaurant because of the service, welcome, variety and quality of the food - it also offers value for money. Never disappointed.

Nothing particularly good or bad about this place now - we seem to remember the food being outstanding on previous visits but haven't been here for a year or so. Service was efficient if not especially friendly, food was OK but nothing more. £38 for two including drinks.

I've been to this restaurant so many times and have always had fantastic food and this time was no exception, we went on a Sunday evening, which was very quiet service and food was great, and have to say their onion bhargees are awesome, will always go back to Tuli as it's probably my favourite Indian restaurant... Highly recommended by the Blackburn family!

There were three couples in our group. We had not been to Tuli for some time, due to a "not so great" previous experience.The staff were inattentive, the wine selection was poor and for the ladies the biggest issue was no Prosecco!Service was quite slow, the staff seemed distracted and not very friendly. Lacked any sort of atmosphere as the staff spent most of their time staring out of the windows to the street outside.

I really enjoy eating at the Tuli, it is always very welcoming and friendly and the food is great. The owner and manager always goes out of his way to be friendly and helpful and we either eat in or have a take away every few weeks.A couple of improvements could be made as when the manager is not in the quality of service is noticeably worse. Also when phoning for a takeaway or delivery depending on who answers the phone it can become a very frustrating experience. I can only speak English and I can fully understand that language problems can and does happen, but it sometimes seems mission impossible trying to communicate an order to some members of staff. But don't let this put you off, I am nearly always very happy with my food from the Tuli and often recommend it to all my friends.

We used to consider this the best Indian restaurant in Basingstoke, but for one reason or another we had not been able to visit for ages.When we arrived there were not many people dining but there was a very brisk takeaway trade. Our drinks and popadom order was taken and delivered to our table very quickly. We were then ignored and even though we had long finished our popadoms it took three requests before anyone would come and take our food order. We then waited and waited and no food appeared and the staff continued to ignore us. Other customers came in and received the same treatment while most of the food coming from the kitchen was going out the front door for delivery. If we had been on our own we would have got up and walked out but we had a guest with us and wanted to make sure they got fed.Our food arrived nearly an hour after being ordered and ninety minutes after we had entered a nearly empty restaurant.When we had finished it again took several requests to get the bill.The food as always was great and very reasonably priced but the very poor service spoiled the evening.It looked like takeaways got priority over diners and if this is the case we wont be returning any time soon.

Arrived latish on a Sunday evening on Basingstoke and found hardly anywhere open but lucked out because the meal I had was absolutely delicious. It took quite a time to arrive but was well worth the wait!

We visited this restaurant again and I can say it just gets better the food is beautifully cooked and the staff are polite and helpful you are assured of a warm welcome even if you haven't booked in advance.

When we came here the restaurant was empty apart from me and my partner. One of the staff members we found was very accommodating whereas another staff member we found lacked customer service skills. The food came promptly and was to a good standard and was relatively well priced. Overall, a satisfying experience and we will return.

On arrival the staff are quick to take your drinks order and popodoms but then we had to ask twice to order our main meals. When the meals arrived there were several dishes missing. The waiter came over and asked if everything is ok and I pointed out that I had no meal and several side dishes were missing. No apology from the staff.Meals were OK but service patchy. We voted between the Thai and here and this won. Very pleasant staff and very helpful. Food was pleasant enough and there were no complaints to be had, other than one of the dishes tasted like a cook-in sauce from Sharwoods. Nice okra and spinach, it's I had one picky complaint it would be to replace the horrible plastic menus , they reminded me of being in Argos!

Ordered a meal for delivery. Took over an hour and order was wrong. Regardless the food we did get was stone cold. Called to let them know and they told me I had to wait 15 minutes for my dish to arrive but wouldn't replace the other cold dishes. Man on the phone was arrogant and rude. Seriously avoid these people. They can't even muster up a half decent tika masala. Left with a stone cold incorrect order. So many better places to go so don't waste your time.

I went to this restaurant few weeks back for takeaway ,matar paneer and tandoori roti, I didn't like it at all no salt in the curry and tandoori roti was half cooked, don't feel like going back again!

It's that classic decor inside but the food is great. The staff are very good. The food is great and I've been back twice since. Great selection of curry and they can adjust the heat for your own taste.

Bit chaotic - was asked 3 times (by different staff) if I wanted to order - decent after pub food but not overwhelming. Decor is pretty tired and basic. Cheap enough.

Very disappointed. I have eaten here many times but something has changed. The food was not good quality and the waiter was sullen and unfriendly. We were the only people in the restaurant yet it took ages for our food to arrive. I think they are giving priority to their takeaway customers.

With 4 work colleagues , very early on a Tuesday eveningOrdered lamb got chicken. Tasted average. However the service was so rude, uninterested and doing you a favour style. I was happy to get out in under 90 minutes.

Have eaten in in the past and enjoyed the food. Today we ordered takeaway for delivery and after 2 and a half hours still no sign of our meal. The driver had phoned once after an hour and 20mins to say he was struggling to find us. He returned to the restaurant with our food but we had to contact them to discover this...bad service all round. Ended up asking for a refund. Sadly we're unlikely to use them again.

Only just passed the standard measure of any British Indian style restaurant. How well they do their vegetable dishes is a good test, wish more places would put the effort in. Despite looking like a contemporary restaurant the food is nothing more than average. Draft beer tasted awful and was sent back. Dahl watery and flavourless. Chana Masala boring along with aloo mattar and sag paneer. I know there's more money to be made from meat and fish dishes but veggie dishes shouldn't be an after thought.

We have been going to Tuli for more than 10 years (well before they moved to their current location) and the reason we keep coming back is the consistently excellent quality Indian cuisine served up by the folks at Tuli.Add to this the warm personal service given (they remember you and always make you feel welcome) and you have the standard by which I judge all other Indian restaurants. If you want the best look no further.

First time at Tulis. Won't be the last. Food was exceptional and reasonably priced. Only criticism is that the waiters could do to relax a bit, that said they were very pleasant and attentive.

My brother and I have been coming here for several years and the food is consistently good. The shish kebabs are superb and absolutely delicious. Main dishes are good portions and well cooked and served well. Staff are friendly and efficient. Prices are reasonable, too. Overall, recommended.

We have been visiting Tuli for a number of years and we love it. We are recognised by the owners who always come to say hello making you feel so welcome. The food is very tasty and always well presented.

Four friends visited for an evening meal we had a pleasant meal good portions excellent quality clean and tidy. Tables were a tad small to accommodate all the food and drinks. Our only gripe was customer service could be a little less stern. Get the staff to chill and chat a bit more and smile.

Visited without booking on a Saturday evening. Good value and service. There were a few families with children eating so got the sense it was child-friendly.

I love this little restaurant - & the ladies always leave with a rose. Food is generous, delicious & reasonably priced. The service ranges from good to poor depending on the waiter - that is the main reason for the '4 star' rating and not a '5 star'. The only other negative is that it is a little cramped - but I understand their need to make the most of the space they have.

We have eaten from here a lot and I mean a lot. The reason for this is the whole family love the food. It is consistently delicious. Everything we order always comes with a friendly smile and of brilliant quality. When the family and I visit the restaurant for a family meal we are treated upmost respect and with a warm welcome. Even my children aged 6 and 10 sometimes beg me to go there as they love the food and the service we always receive. I have tried a few and will continue to try other companies until we find better but we always return to the Tuli as we have not found a better curry house yet. Highly recommended. Yum Yum Yum.

Called in on a Monday evening and it wasn't busy (only 4 of us in the resteraunt - more staff) We had a variety of dishes and all were top quality. The nan breads and side dishes were very tasty. Large main course portions and plenty of rice.Very friendly and efficient staff - as you would expect on a quiet evening.

Fell upon Tuli by complete accident,and we're so pleased we did. Portions were large and food was delicious. The service was efficient and they even charged our phone,and on leaving were presented with a rose each. Toilets were spotless,as was restaurant. My only criticism was it was slightly chilly,but they soon increased the heat for us. Nice little find in the centre of Basingstoke. Onion Bhajees and mushroom and paneer puri were fabulous. The staff showed attitude of not to serve as I was alone. They are more interested in serving you if you order more else they treat you as if they are doing favour by serving food. Never going here.

Continuing my quest to identify the best curry house in Basingstoke I tried here last night with a mate and we enjoyed our food. It's good, but not the best - but I'd happily return.The menu has some different dishes which is always good to see. The prices were very good and the service was efficient but perhaps a little too direct.I went for my standard dishes to try out a new restaurant - Onion Bhajis and Lamb Dupiaza. My friend had meat Samosas and Lamb Jalfrezi. The portions were good, the presentation was nicely done and the flavours were full and authentic. The Lamb could have been more tender. The bhajis were tennis ball sized, well spiced and very well cooked.As I said, I'd be happy to return.

In need of some food after a day spent in a hospital this restaurant was literally across the road from our hotel being the Red Lion in the centre of Basingstoke and so we went along for our tea.Staff we met were very friendly and the establishment was very clean & tidy in appearance The starters we chose were Prawn on Puri & Shami Kebabs and there after we ordered a Tandoori Chicken Biriyani to share along with Onion Bhaji & Plain Nan and to be honest everything we had was hot, tasty and very enjoyable and was washed down with a Bottle of House Wine.Overall a good standard of cuisine and all for £34.00 including the wine !!!

In a word, disappointed. I've been to Tuli many times in the past but got the feeling that something was different this time. My chicken Ceylon was okay but my brother's vegetable curry was bland and uninteresting. The biggest distraction was the young waiter who served us, he came over as very pushy and was visibly grumpy when we said that we weren't going to have anything to drink.
