We recently visited the spruce goose as we had some friends in town visiting. We were initialy greated at the door by a friendly gentleman but we didnt get his name. Our server named chris was super friendly and made our visit all the better we can understand why the other staff members were calling him smiley when talking to him. Our food was delicious and hot. Couldnt have asked for a better cooked steak. We will definitely be coming back. Chris we will be requesting for you as our server when we return.

Excellent all round from the moment we got to the door to the moment we left. I had a very grouchy child and that didn't stop the service being excellent. Everyone did everything to make my child smile and have a great meal even though it was very busy. We had starters and mains and they were spot on for what we asked for, we wasn't going to go for puddings as it was getting a bit late for us but they recommended some puddings and we are so glad we stayed because it was a great way to end our meal. Would highly recommend spruce goose if u want to have a great meal out. Thank you to everyone at spruce for giving us a fantastic service, we would definitely be coming back

What an establishment this is! First off I was sat promptly and immediately asked if I would like to start with a beverage, I order a Diet Coke with no ice with arrived within 30 seconds of ordering, the prawn cocktail I ordered as a started arrived again within a few minutes and was delicious, I decided to tackle the upgraded mixed grill with the 8oz and absolutely love it, cooked Rare just the way I like it (compliments to the top notch chefs as well), dessert was a churros sundae which was the perfect combination of warm and cold … delicious, was served by John and Lee thanks guys I will be back 100%!!!!!!!

Wow what a fantastic family meal we just had, amazing service from the lovely John! Our son certainly had a birthday to remember, what a massive credit John is to spruce goose!Nothing was too much trouble and even put a candle in our sons dessert, it’s the little things!Really made our family meal a memorable one, thank you so much.

Date night with the hubby . Served by Chris. His service is excellent what a lovelly man. Spruce you need to keep this man. Saturday was busy but service was speedy and food was excellnt . Well priced especially with the loyalty discount . Would definatly recomend . Be sure to book .

Excellent food and service as always from our local favorite ...be sure to book especially on weekends as this place is packed . Service is always friendly , staff go over amd beyond to help and often entertain our kids. We generally have the same with the kids having the £6 , 3 course meal whilst myself amd my partner have ribeye. Nice sized portions amd with our loyalty card we get lots of discou t too.See you soon no doubt

It hasn’t improved in the last twenty years. This time the chicken gougons we burnt and dry. The mashed potato could be used as a tennis ball, the fried egg was burnt on one side and raw on the other. They didn’t have any straws for the kids drinks.Not a place I could recommend in any shape or form.

Came in for a quick snack before seeing a movie and the service was very prompt. Ordered some garlic bread to start, our waitress recommended it cheesy and we're very glad we went with the suggestion. The steaks that followed came out perfectly cooked; my rump mid-rare and my wife's sirloin medium. Went from the lunchtime menu and the portions were great for the price, and the kids portions were an amazing size too. Glad we came back as they're always accommodating and friendly.

The service was appalling, the waitress had an attitude, and clearly did not want to be there. Everything from start to finish was a disaster. Being hurried into ordering, was not told that they had no T Bone steaks. Drinks arrived in dirty glasses, melted ice and flat coke. Cutlery was not polished smudges and fingerprints all over them and cocktail napkins were being used as serviettes, menus left on table after order taken. Both ribeye steaks were sent back due to under cooking, we especially asked for medium well, which we prefer on ribeye steaks. When order arrived back, the steak knife (tucked underneath the steak) should have been placed away from from customer, instead was plonked down infront of me with the steak knife flipping up and landing on my new dress leaving a stain of bbq sauce. Not much of an apology offered from the waitress. However the steaks were adequate 2nd time around. We did not want to stay for a dessert as we were so disappointed with the whole experience. We have eaten there many times, its just a shame that a member of staff can completely put you off returning.

We were welcomed at the door in a very pleasant manner and escorted to our seats. I noticed that the restaurant was not as busy as usual and this was obviously because of the Covid-19 outbreak. Drinks arrived almost immediately. It was not long before a waitress came to take our orders. We had steak with all the trimmings and, as usual, it was served exactly as we had ordered. Having finished we were asked if we wanted a sweet. As the waitress was speaking she had a sneezing fit into her hand. Instead of leaving us to wash he hand she continued to talk to us. I was not impressed! At a table near us there were children that were out of control who were running up and down the gangways and shouting otherwise we had a very pleasant evening.The staff are always pleasant and it is a restaurant that I will visit again.

We have visited many establishments such as this when staying at Premier Inns etc and this was one of the best we have eaten at. We had both dinner and breakfast and despite being very busy we had excellent service and hot tasty food. I had steak and chips for dinner main and the steak was cooked correctly to my order and was large and juicy. Our waiter was witty and efficient and deserved our tip. Breakfast was buffet style but we received a warm welcome at the door and where everything was positioned was explained. Would recommend.

The food is good but the staff are excellent. From Lee greeting you at the door, it is always a nice and comfortable atmosphere.On this occasion we were served by Tequilla, who was friendly and helpful as well as attentive. It certainly elevated the experience from good to great.

Visiting Basingstoke to attend a live show, we decided to make it a day-out and also stay-over rather than driving the 75 miles home late at night. We stayed at the Basingstoke West Premier Inn, adjacent to this Beefeater pub, and thus recommended by the hotel as the place to eat; particularly-so breakfast.Having had our last meal at a pub on the way to Basingstoke, early lunchtime on the previous day, we were more than ready to eat. On arrival at this pub we were welcomed by a young lady who was very bright, bubbly and just wanted to help us enjoy our visit. She was enthusiastically cheerful and helpful, and gave us all the information, allowing us to sit where we wanted.We decided on a Full English Breakfast from the hot buffet, but I also decided to have a couple of slices of toast prior to visiting the buffet. A conveyor-style toasting machine was available, but I noted that the conveyor was moving very slowly. I placed two pieces of bread (one after the other) on the sloping feed tray and waited. I could see that the first slice was well-toasted after travelling halfway through the toasting chamber, but I was not able to retrieve the second slice in time (it was too hot to do so). Eventually one slice appeared on the out-tray and it was black, the second slice failed to appear at all!Just then the bright young lady came close by, so I motioned that I needed assistance. The problems with the toaster appeared to be a common issue, and she soon retrieved about a dozen pieces of toast from the back of the toaster, efficiently adjusted the running speed of the conveyor, and properly attached the out tray. I tried again and although the toast was still a bit overcooked, it was edible and I did receive the same number of pieces of toast as I had fed in slices of bread. Result!There was no plates available to convey the toast to our table, so I used a cereal bowl. Just as I was retrieving the second slice of toast a waiter appeared with a stack of plates.My partner who didn’t want toast made two cups of tea with the tea bags and hot water provided, whilst I was toasting. The tea was, to be fair, reasonably good.After eating my toast I visited the hot buffet. There was black pudding (not at all my preference), overcooked back-bacon rashers (a lot like cardboard and not particularly hot), reasonable baked beans (hot and not dry), very good sausages (but a bit less than perfectly hot), good mushrooms (I retrieved some from the bottom of the dish, which were better than the dried-out ones at the top), a good hash brown, and an average fried egg (only just warm but fortunately with a runny yolk).Neither of us could not say that that the breakfast was very good and certainly not excellent. Overall it was adequate and sated our hunger (we could have pigged out) and therefore it was reasonable value at £9.50 each.My partner concurred with my own eating experience and we finished our tea and departed. Unless you time your visit to the buffet perfectly this breakfast will never compare to individually cooked breakfasts.

Although expectations were low being a Beefeater eatery and £30 a head I did not expect the food and service to be so poor. As a company night out we had pre-ordered our food, even with pre-ordering not all courses arrived and those that did were only bordering on edible, it felt as if the meals were pre-cooked in the day and kept in a warmer, the cheese dishes rough, the steak really not great and christmas pud extremely rubbery.The wines were cheap, circa £15-16 a bottle and really were not good, where you are normal safe with an Argentinian Malbec I would steer clear of the Steakhouse offering and the Rioja was not any better. If it were not for the fact we were at a work function would completely have skipped the food and drink and gone elsewhere, the kebab van on the other side of the roundabout literally has better service and better quality food!I would like to think that this was partially down to the fact the business was fully booked but then would expect the management to ensure the staff were able to cope with the guests they had booked in.

We visited this restaurant for dinner and breakfast. Although some of the items were not on the menu due to supply problems, everything was explained to us and there was still a great variety. The staff were polite, helpful, cheerful and worked well as a team, despite being extremely busy. The food was very enjoyable, nicely cooked and presented.

My husband and I thought we would take our son, out for dinner as it was his birthday. We also invited some of his friends along too. The food was incredible, considering how busy it seemed yesterday and there being a lot of us, the wait wasn't that long at all. Our waitress who served us was really nice, constantly asking if we were ok and if we were needing anything, thank you shannie, well deserved tip! We are staying in the hotel for a couple of days whilst visiting relatives, so for our first night we decided to eat out at beefeater spruce goose. Unfortunately some items on the menu wasn't available but that didn't offend us, the food was delightful! I had a steak, and the food was scrumptious and my steak was cooked to perfection, complements to the chef. Our waitress shannie was very attentive and very friendly, so thank you again shannie for a lovely service. It's clear to say we will definitely be returning to the beefeater Spruce goose, see you all again soon, and again thank you.

we decided to go to the brewers fair for dinner after seeing an advert for their new menu. booking was easy and everything fine at check in. waitress very polite and courteous.then it started. New menu. we'll half the starters not available along with 30% of the mains and a good selection of the hot puddings... no chance of getti g another booking somewhere else so we ordered mains from what was available.. they arrived in good time but were disappointing. mine was missing slaw which did get delivered when asked for. food was of average standard and not really anything to talk of and prices didn't reflect what's on the plate.. puddings ordered but where average.. waitress asked if the meal was good. wife replied it was OK. nothing special. and we got and "ok". to be honest it's not somewhere we will return too too quickly.

2 weeks in a row whilst travelling.Food isn’t 5* but it is very goodService apart from 7am breakfast is brilliant - but to be fair who is on top of the game then.We travel for work and stay at premier inn often - this is one of the best beefeaters we have used.

we enjoyed a last-minute decision to eat at the spruce goose. we were served tonight by Kaitlyn she was a very good waitress she was attentive and genuinely wanted to check we were having a good time and that everything was ok. She told of bottomless drinks options and endless chips for the kiddies. We rarely tip as waiters/ress are not as good as they use to be but Kaitlyn definitely was and was so pleased with her services and care for us all. Well done and well-desrved tip.

Excellent service. Visited for my sister's birthday on Sunday. Even though some of the memu was not available we had good service. The manager was excellent and his staff were very professional, even though we teased about missing menu. Thank you, we had issues but you sorted them out. Will definitely visit again, without our shed manager. Southern Comfort recommended

Drove past and decided to give this Beefeater a visit, not been to one for years. Very nicely decorated and felt welcoming. Then we met Stefan, an exceptional waiter, charming polite and attentive without leaving you with that ‘over-kill’ feeling. Order taken, drinks arrived promptly. Then the food, absolutely lovely, compliments to the chef and the kitchen staff. Another drink, lovely chat with Stefan saying how we’re enjoying it. Would highly recommend. Lee (Manager) and Stefan you have definitely got this right. We will be back

Visited for lunch over half term and despite a 15 minute queue for a table which was booked in advance, it was than made up with Johnny and his team's customer service with a smile! Good food and choice. Great location near the Ice rink and bowling alley.

John was an excellent host… went above and beyond and just made our experience special. The food was excellent and the ambience great. It’s clear that all staff care about the experience diners have. Staying at the Premier inn next door with my family for a night, came in about an hour early for some drinks at the bar. Very quickly seen to by Lee (manager) directed us to the bar and said he'd try his best to get our table ready quicker for us! It was a very busy night, i believe there was a big party in the bar, however Connor served us almost immediately and we got our drinks for us. Lee came and found us and sat us at our table 30 minutes early! We then had Jess as our waitress who was extremely polite and cheerful. Despite the new menu launch and busy night, our food was with us within 20 minutes and was all cooked perfectly! Just came back from breakfast, which was also amazing, Lee was there too and came over to say hello.Lovely experience and will definitely be back if in the Basingstoke area again!

Have been to this Beefeater quite a few times over the years and it has always been good. The food is consistent with the service always quick and helpful.

Came here for a meal with friends. Alot of the menu was unavailable. ,which was the bad start. Food was medicoir. Place was dirty. Window still was thick of dust. Large party sat behind us ,had children screaming and running around. Then to top it they changed a baby's nappy on the seats while we were eating our meal. We were sat in easy reach of the toilets.We will not be coming again

I came in with my partner, despite being very busy, I was looked after quickly, efficiently and with a smile. The best part of the night was the excellent steak I had! Ribeye! I highly recommend it to anybody! Thanks guys see you soon!

Today I brought the family to the Spruce Goose and it was such a delight! I ordered the lasagne and it was superb. My family enjoyed the cosy atmosphere and the lovely staff who work there. All around an amazing time. I will always recommend the Spruce Goose.

My partner and I had a delicious dinner at the spruce today, we shared a medium rare sirloin. My absolute favourite and it was cooked perfectly. The Spruce is a must try

My parents travelled 45 mins to join us for dinner as they love a beefeater but their local one was lacking care and attention, so we told them that our local one was the best around and it didn’t disappoint … they loved the way we were treated by the lovely Jon, his energy and his attention to detail is second to none, so thank you Jon for making my parents evening a pleasurable one … oh and the food was amazing too …

Not a great time there Services was rubbish and the food was cold and the atmosphere was not very good and never again will I be back in that place again

We decided to go out to celebrate my wife’s birthday and we did not regret .Food was amazing . The restaurant was clean and good atmosphere. The gentleman who look after us was amazing . His name is Stefan. He is a real asset to the company. Amazing customer skills , great knowledge about wines, very organised.We will be back because of him and amazing food.Thank you so much for making my wife’s birthday celebration so special .

We booked on line, greeted and seated very quickly by James, he was friendly, funny and knowledgeable. He recommended the wine it was very good, thank you James. Service was paced very well, food was delicious and the onion rings first class. Puddings were really nice and we left feeling stuffed. Loved that this place was very COVID safe, barriers between each table was very reassuring. The combination of good, reasonably priced food and first class service from James makes this a 5 star. We loved it thank you James.

We popped in after going bowling and our waiter Jon was amazing, they where very busy but took the time to make sure we always had what we needed. Very child friendly. Food was amazing, 100% recomend

We were looking for somewhere to eat before going to the cinema and remembered the Spruce Goose. We hadn't booked, but it wasn't a problem and we were taken straight to a table and offered drinks. Feeling hungry we had the prawn cocktail starter, which was nice but would have been better had the tomato and cucumber been cut smaller; it made it awkward to cut up the large chunks of cucumber and tomato and eat from the bowl.For my main course I had the standard mixed grill, very good choice! A nice and tasty mix of meats with lovely chips. Definitely worth having but make sure you are hungry because of generous portions.Desserts were rather limited sadly, several items on the dessert menu were not available when we visited. Overall a very good meal.

In particular James abs Stefan were brilliant. There were others but I was too slow to get their names. I’m here for a few months but until my company realise how much this is costing them, I’m staying at the premiere inn solely because of the team in the restaurant. I can’t tip you but I can tell everyone how good you are.The food is great. Being here for as long as I am, I could do with a gym membership. But there are health options I could chose. Just don’t want to. Went in last night for a meal. The staff were really friendly and helpful.. The kids love the fact there is quite a choice on a kids meals. The food was amazing. Defo come back again

I came on a stop over and was incredibly impressed beyond belief, free refills on some soft drinks, unlimited fries, and steaks cooked to absolute perfection, aside from the incredible food I was served by the lovely John, incredibly full of energy and really made me feel welcome :) make sure you check this place out as this as I haven’t had a meal this excellent in years, Thankyou Spruce Goose !!!!

This is one of the best places to eat stakes, burgers and beef served just how you like it and with a very good customer service and customer care. Good place to eat in family, with friends and if you just want to eat something different in your lunch time.

Awful time!!!! Went in with my family, then seated. Within 5 mins we were asked what drinks we would like and also ordered our food at the same time. 20mins later we still don't have our drinks and then noticed that the waiter had not put our drinks through, so when he realised he had them made. We ordered 2x draft cokes NO ICE AND NO LEMON, however when they were finally Brought over they both had ice and lemon in, so we asked for them to be changed. SO...... we were sitting where we could see the whole bar and my wife noticed that instead of making us 2 new fresh 1s, they decided to get their ice prongs out and pick the ice and lemon out of OUR drinks, put them back on the tray for the waiter to bring back to us. My wife told me this and obviously I went and had my say. The waiter watched as the barman did this. THIS WAS 1 OF THE WORST THINGS I HAVE SEEN IN A RESTAURANT ESPECIALLY DURING COVID. WHAT WOULD OF HAPPENED IF ONE OF US HAD A CITRUS ALLERGY AND WE DIDN'T SEE THEM DO IT........ I DREAD TO THINK...... THE MANGERS EXCUSE WAS APPALLING... "ITS ONLY HIS SECOND DAY" ....... WHAT!!!!!! IF THAT STUFF HAPPENS WITH MY DRINK, WHO KNOWS WHAT HAPPENS WITH YOUR FOOD IN THE KITCHEN...... DISGUSTED!!!!!!

Fantastic Service food was really good overall very good was a little disappointed that they did not have the vegan pudding but everyone else I was with absolutely love there

We understand that the menu was smaller than before but five items we chose theydidn't have, the service was disgusting we had to ask many times for cutlery,sauces, condiments. meals very disappointing and when we were eventually servedcoffee after a long wait it arrived without spoons,sugar and milk. We will nevervisit the spruce goose again.

We frequent this restaurant alot. It's always so very busy but I cannot fault the servers. All are very friendly and know us by name. Have never been let down. Food is is well cooked and on time , occasionally drinks are slow but when they full there must be 200 plus people in house . Thank you spruce . Will be back next Saturday .

Came in tonight for a meal with my family. It was the first time we have met since the start of COVID. The journey was made difficult by the petrol panic buyers. When we arrived at the spruce goose we were greeted by the friendly guy at the front. The meal was made memorable by the friendly staff and amazing food! Will be back again soon!!

Once again we had an amazing time when dinning here today, the service was amazing and the food was great aswell, my 2 kids went away happy and was over the moon with their Brownie and ice cream. Lee the manager was so welcoming and took the time to speak to the kids which I find rare in restaurants. Cant wait to go back again soon to the "moo place "

Brought the family for my mother's birthday. Ordered around 5 steaks and they were cooked to perfection! Personally I went for the sirloin cooked medium rare. Our waiter Stefan was a pleasure to have. Will be coming back!

We went to celebrate our wedding anniversary and as normal the service was excellent, we asked for Johnny but unfortunately he was front of house this night so he said he would give us the next best thing and he didn’t disappoint James was amazing and very attentive. Our food also didn’t disappoint although portions especially with the started could be a bit bigger …. The fillet steak was so much better than Miller and Carter ( where we usually go ) thank you again for a very enjoyable evening, we will be back soon

Very accommodating and friendly helpful staff . Quick service also but food very average and poorly presented with quite small portions . Wouldn't be in a hurry to return for the food anyway.

Today myself & Son visited for Breakfast. From the moment we walked in the service was bubbly happy and explained fully what to do. 1 member of staff really went the extra mile naturally, HOLLY. I've worked in retail over 16years & it is very rare to find such helpful staff. She was welcoming, accommodating, nothing was too much to ask. She made our day, we left with smiles. I really hope Holly and all the staff working this morning 6.9.21 can be recognised for their outstanding service. Keep those smiles going

Came here as a family of 7 and joined up beefeater rewards to get 50% off mains. Bill came to 170 pounds and then server told us it would take 24 hours to activate card. Therefore unable to get 50% of mains. Needless to say we won't be going again!

Fantastic night we spent the night at the beefeater for my nans 80th. A warm welcome from John the manager and a fantastic service the food was excellent will definitely be going back to the beefeater in the near future.

A regular meet up place for our group, the quality of food is always good and reasonably priced. The reason for our constant custom without a doubt has to be the staff, in particular John, always warm, welcoming and amusing. Very attentive to ‘the little things’ which all in all makes the experience that much better!Always recommending to people!

We have been coming here for a long time when visiting my son but this time bank holiday Sunday the service was exceptional. From the welcome by Lee the general manager to the very cheerful waiter James they went out of their way to help us have a good evening. The steaks were superb and all the food was good. We hope to be back soon.

We stayed nearby and had breakfast here for four mornings. It was very good value as the two adults had a full breakfast and the kids ate free. The food was always very good, hot and plenty of choice.

This was found by accident by Mrs K, we were on our way back to the hotel when she saw the beefeater sign and that was it.We popped in to see if they had any space for dinner, they were so helpful and got us in for 2000 which was just perfect. What we did learn before going out is that taxis in Basingstoke are like gold dust. We left the hotel in good time, so we thought, to discover we couldn’t get to the Spruce Goose in time. I called to inform the Goose we might be late , and they could not of been more accommodating.Fortunately a cab turned up and we managed to arrive 5 minutes after our start time! Again the staff were marvellous and showed us straight to our table and the journey began.We started with classic prawn cocktail for Mrs K and I had the filled potato strips, very nice. Then the mains came Mrs K’s ribeye was a sight to behold and cooked to perfection. I had a mixed grill with an upgrade to an 8 oz rump and it just melted in my mouth, the other additions were just right , it was so plentiful that it beat me in the end, but overall it was an excellent meal , the staff were attentive and helpful and the atmosphere was idyllic. This place is ideal for nearly everyone. We will be back if we come to Basingstoke again

Great food and amazing service This is not a gastropub on the level of Michelin stars but what they do is very good.We had great steaks at great prices.A lunch time menu from £5.99 per main course and 3 course kids menu for the same price.The restaurant has a modern feel and very clean.Will be going back !Thanks for the amazing service

Went here yesterday.Pre-booked, so seated quite quickly.Our waiter took our drinks order, gave us time to decide what we wanted without being pushy.Drinks came fairly soon and the waiter answered the questions we had.Order taken and starter arrived within 10 minutes.Main meal around 15 minutes later.All on all a very pleasant evening.

Whenever I'm in Basingstoke I always head to the Spruce goose to eat. Food is always amazing. The service brilliant. The staff are always very helpful, informative and very professional in their job. I have felt very safe each time I have visited during this time of Covid19. Huge well done to all. I look forward to coming back to eat again.

What a meal, haven't been out since covid and really enjoyed are selves starters was amazing and my son loved the goujons, keeps asking when we going back so he can have them again, overall restaurant was clean. And staff was friendly

Came in for breakfast with my kids and it was amazing, all staff were friendly and brilliant value for money, only 9.50 for me and the 2 children to ear all we want. Will definitely be coming back

Can honestly say this was one of our worst dining experiences ever! I ordered leek & potatoes soup as a starter, came out almost cold, lumpy and barely covered the bottom of the bowl. Our gammon steak and chips were not much better, once again almost cold. The gammon was very small and the chips were cold and barely edible.I did speak to the manager who knocked the price of the soup off the bill. I very rarely give a negative review but this was a diabolical "meal" compared with the many good reviews, I can only assume that it was 16:45 and they were just changing from the lunch time menu to the dinner menu, but this is no excuse! The person responsible for sending this out to a customer should be ashamed of themselves and maybe can I recommend a much needed refresher course on how to cook!! Also Premiere Inn take note, reviews like this will only harm your excellent reputation.

Over priced microwaved food, this restaurant goes further downhill every year. Definitely not what it used to be, isn’t worth the money at all

Went with a large group of us about 17 in total. Service was wonderfully delightful by a young man Adam who kept us smiling and on our toes. We all chose the roast . 4 options , beef, chicken , lamb and vegan pie, which is a lovely addition. Would highly recommend , £10 for a roast dinner cooked well with friendly staff.

Passed through on Sunday afternoon in this large busy restaurant and pub. Although busy food came out on time, fresh and hot. Our ribeye's were perfectly cooked . All staff encountered were friendly and hospitable. Thanks spruce , we'llbe back soon

Stayed with family for a long weekend. Be sure to book as this place is busy breakfast lunch and dinner. Excellent service and good food. The staff were brilliant with th kids . Good choice of food avaliable and great deals on offer, starting with the all you can eat breakfast where kids eat free. Would definitely recommend

We arrived 5 of us just finished at I fly with no reservation. The manager sorry failed to obtain his name but was super efficient found us a table and somewhere to park the buggy. Staff were rushed off their feet but managed to keep smiling were efficient and the food wasn't bad at all and reasonably priced. Special thanks to our waiter James nothing too much trouble.

Had a nice meal but the most important thing was the staff. In particular Stefan and Adam they were absolutely wonderful.

Having stayed at the hotel the last weekend, we would like to sincerely praise the team over at the Spruce Goose, Who made us feel welcome through their breakfast lunch and dinner. Nothing was too much and the staff were always really happy and made us laugh, it didn’t matter the time of day twe walked in they were always just happy to see us. Of the 12 meals we had in tot they were all cooked perfectly. So we will 100% be coming back next holiday. Special thanks to our waiter John

We all can expect changes as we come out of Covid restrictions, and so it is with this restaurant next to the Premier Inn. Their staff were pinged by NHS app and they had to close. They are now open again with full buffet breakfast and a smaller dinner menu, but with table and bar service for drinks. Tables are still socially distanced and hand sanitisers etc in place. There were some 23 of us in our party and the staff all coped well with us, and the food was good.

Chicken was very bland supposed to be covered in cheese which had no taste fries were ok, coleslaw ok, a few salad leaves throw in a dish, poor presentation of food didn’t look appealing at all. Quite dark in the restaurant all in all not an experience I will repeat

I recently visited the Spruce Goose to meet up with family who were staying at the hotel. The Covid procedures in the restaurant seem to be very good, everything was nice and clean. There is a good choice of quality food at a reasonable price. Our server, Tequila, was fantastic, she is so friendly and helped cater to all of our needs and requests she really is a great asset to the team.

Myself & my partner came into the restaurant at lunchtime today, 15th July.Stefan B was our waiter, and he was absolutely brilliant. The food was lovely, and thanks to his knowledge and suggestions of the food, we had a fantastic meal!He was very nice and really attentive. This is the second time we’ve been here and the food is always decent for the price. The mixed grill is a definite and you can upgrade to a better/larger steak if you want one. We were served by Tequilla and she was so attentive and professional the whole time. Couldn’t have had a better host! Would come back for sure.

Visit 11 July - server stefen B.Amazing food, hot, steak cooked to perfection (blue). Stefen prioritiesed his guests, kind, consistent, polite. He is fairly new there and was very professional regularly checked us to make sure the food was good and if we needed anymore beverages. Can not wait to visit it again and enjoy amazing food, service and feel well cared for.

I have worked in retail for over 40 years and over a number of years have unfortunately seen a decline in customer service throughout the retail business, but thanks to a recent visit to The Spruce Goose in Basingstoke and meeting a member of staff called John, he single handedly has put my faith back in retail and that people and companies can still achieve very high standards in customer service.Food was great, we were served quickly and efficiently. Stefan & John are the duo ever restaurant need! They are incredible- kept us laughing, made sure we had everything we needed and made our time enjoyable. The good food was an added bonus!! I hope they both get the recognition they deserve, I’d visit again just to see them both!
