Sherfield on Loddon Garden Centre and Cafe in Basingstoke and Deane

Four of us went here today for lunch. Arrived at midday. Disappointed that they had already run out of several items on menu including fish n chips, burger and even jacket potatoes. Which was unbelievable. Although thankfully we managed to settled on something else but not sure how later customers managed. Think someone hadn't done a food order!

Spacious, large garden with many tables (beautiful in the sunshine). Food was lovely. They sell the typical cafe food: paninis, sandwiches, jacket potato, quiche of the day and cakes as well as cold and hot drinks. I had a coronation sandwich (£8.95) with crisps and salad. Large garden centre with clean toilets. Did not see any EV charging points though.

Nice location and lovely cakes. Bright cafe. Staff in training which perhaps explained the error with the hot chocolate drink which was just too strong even after we asked for a weak one with no chocolate on the top. No apology for the error. Shame but perhaps a learning point. A few more smiles would make it feel a more welcoming experience. We will come back and see if things improve. Fingers crossed

Took my autsic daughter for lunch had checked on line that they did jacket potatoes. Arrived at 12.45pm went up to the counter to order to be told none avaliable. No wonder the place was empty. Really unhelpful staff no

The gentleman loo, the first thing you see it a terrible rusty radiator and I mean more rust then paint, one of the cubicles had no seat, not quite true it was on the floor ! I understand is new owners, they have their work cut out to make this area pleasant!

I had a late breakfast/brunch with a friend and we both had delicious pancakes. One was savoury (bacon & maple syrup) and the other was sweet (strawberries & blueberries). Generous portions! We received a very warm and genuine welcome and the cafe warmly welcomes dogs. A very enjoyable visit!

Our local knitting group has started using the cafe at the garden centre for our meetings. The manager, Tilly, has been great about making sure that we have a suitable area to knit and natter and looks after us really well. The cafe is a great place for groups to get together as not only do you get yummy cakes and drinks, but there is no hassle about parking.

This has always been a good place to meet up. This morning Susie Nixon was her usual smiley, helpful self - she can always be relied upon to look after you, whatever the occasion. Today she was ably assisted by Lucy Watkins.

Visit here on a regular basis. Friendly staff, lovely coffee and great selection of cakes. Will continue to visit on a regular basis.

We love visiting this garden centre which is now Capital Gardens and we are always very welcomed. Its very dog friendly, our dog Hector is very spoilt after his walk and it has a lovely seating area for dogs with fresh water. The food is lovely, we benefitted from buy one get one free breakfast sandwhiche's which were very tasty. They have created a very relaxing space, we would really recommend.

I’ve recently been here a few times, just in the past month and each time, I’ve received friendly and professional service. I haven’t had full meals but each time enjoyed either an Americano or a Hot Chocolate with a slice of cake. The drinks have been good, I am fussy when it comes to coffee and I don’t like choc drinks if they’re lukewarm but each time the drinks have been spot on.

My wife and I used to regularly visit the restaurant here for food several years ago but a change of restaurant management saw the food quality and service plummet. However we popped in today and we’re presently surprised by the environment and more importantly quality of the food provided by the new chef Carl. Portion size was good and quality was excellent with the atmosphere in the restaurant being more like we remembered it from its heyday. Definitely worth a visit we will definitely be returning.

Just had our first breakfast at the garden centre in a long time. It was delicious, hot, freshly prepared and cooked. Will certainly be going again. Thank you Carl, head chef and Tilly and her team for excellent service.

Went for a Saturday breakfast with friends and had a mixture of their full English, bacon and egg sandwiches, and avocado and poached eggs. All I can say is it was almost perfect. ( maybe black pudding added to the full English would just be the icing on the cake). All the food came freshly cooked and all arrived at the same time. The cost was very reasonable and excellent value for money. We understand the ‘old chef’ has returned and is determined to improve everything and is intending to start roast Sunday dinners later in the year (septemberish). The drinks were great the service brilliant so it is well worth the visit. We’re pleased we found it and looking forward to visiting again really soon.

Had a lovely lunch at the Cafe at Capital Gardens Garden Centre today. Food was great and staff are very friendly and attentive.

Very poor food quality. We ordered two toasted sandwiches which consisted of two cheap thin slices of bread, slices of turkey out of a packet and pulled pork which resembled dog meat. Limp brown salad accompanied. Tea pot was dirty. Staff pleasant. Long wait. Menu...

What an amazing experience meeting santa and breakfast. Great food, service, staff were really friendly and helpful and the Grotto and Father Christmas was fantastic interactive visit with a lovely Santa.

Very disappointed. Sandwiches at £8 were 2 slices of standard sliced bread. Cheesy chips barely had any cheese. Pot of tea for two had one tea bag in it. Most certainly will not be going back

Dirty, massively overpriced and very poor quality food that takes an age to get to you. Don't bother, you'd be better off with a tesco meal deal

Went yesterday just for coffee. Wearing masks and well aware of social distancing... No other customers there and young man serving looked disinterested. No tables and chairs available inside and we were told we could only sit outside. The weather was cold and spitting with...

Lovely festive afternoon tea. Loved the cinnamon and cranberry scones, turkey and cranberry sandwiches!! A nice treat with family and friends.

Although it doesn’t look the most attractive of locations, the cafe is lovely and has plenty of space for groups. There are a good selection of cakes too.
