Visited for Breakfast this morning. £12.85 for Orange Juice and Eggs on Toast with extra Bacon (1 rasher !) Just a rip off. Will not be going back.

Food is always great and so fresh, always end up talking to other customers while sat at the tables. Can seem a little expensive for some things but food is of good quality. Come here at least once a month!

Stopped in for a breakfast roll. I got a bacon and mushroom baguette but it was disappointing and to my eye, poorly filled for the £9 it cost. Flat white coffee was good. Service had the charm of broken glass.

Popped in for quick sandwich to go, and I must say that panini was incredibly delicious! I will definitely come more often ☺️ Also the team was very friendly and helpful!

My wife and I go to this restaurant occasionally, and we always ask ourselves why we went back.......... maybe its because we think that it must have got better...... it never does! The food looks good but is always tasteless and bland. Drinks average, food aweful. My wife has contacted their office direct, but they are not helpful at all. We won't be going back again!

Came here for thr first time over the weekend. There was a queue but it went down quite quick. Ordered a tuna melt panini asked for no onions but told the filler is already made up so I stuck with it and for over £8 I thought it would be something special. Was very busy so was lucky to find a table. Food came out very quickly so I assumed it was already made up and just needed to be toasted. There was so much stuff in the panini but hardly any tuna or cheese or sunblushed tomatoes, but lots and lots of onions (great), leek and normal tomatoes. Panini was very disappointing, was more like a salad roll rather than tuna melt so only ate one half as the amount of onions too overpowering and as its all mixed together it's hard to pick them out. Overall, not a bad place for a busy Saturday and the staff were friendly but I definitely don't rate the panini I had, definitely not worth over £8. Maybe they should give the option to be made to the customers liking, or serve it with at least crisps or something for that price.

Popped in mid day on Saturday, ordered large spaghetti bolognaise and a Mediterranean salad. Spaghetti was cold in parts where it hadn’t been warmed up sufficiently in the microwave, pretty bland flavour. The worst salad I have ever had, the tomatoes and cucumber tasted fousty, the oil used tasted more like a cooking oil, very poor flavours. Would never eat here again. For £20 better value to be had elsewhere.

Myself and my mum were planning on eating here but whilst stood in the queue, saw that the girl making the panini’s didn’t once change her gloves, even after touching chicken, putting chips in the fryer, getting food out the microwave etc. she used the same knife to cut every single panini (not ideal for vegetarians/ anyone with allergies etc) the cutting board also wasn’t wiped clean once whilst we were stood waiting (which was over 10 minutes) Another guy was handling food with his bare hands and again didn’t see any handwashing happening before moving on to the next customer. Drinks were fine but absolutely would not eat here.

So me an day partner do come hear for lunch when we are in town, or I pop in for a bite, most of the time it has been good! We love the jacket tatos with chilli&cheese and the pannis aswell! The reason I'm giving it a 4 rather then 5 because somtimes the food can me a tad cold or sometimes the stuff at the till can be really slow or confused.

Came in with my newborn and toddler, the lady taking my order at the till was very slow. First she took my toddlers lunch box down wrong and was going to overcharge us. Then made me wait a very long time so she could put the order in, thankfully another member of staff stepped in. She also forgot my water so I had to go to the till and leave my kids by the table. Awful service

I visited here with my parents on a busy Tuesday before Christmas. The lady who served me was very welcoming and helpful. There was so much choice, I was a little overwhelmed when I got to the stage of ordering for myself and my parents 😊. She patiently guided assisted and I ended up with a delicious brown bread baggette full of a tasty filling. The iced caramel coffee was lovely too. My Mum bought some lovely muffins and cakes to take home. I would highly recommend Cafe Giardino.

We never eat here because they do not display a Score-on-the-Door and when we have checked online it is low. However we do come in for coffee which should be safe. On this visit we saw one reason why they might have a low Score-on-the-Door: a dog sat up on a chair at a table being fed by the owner. If the Inspector came in at that time I wonder what they would make of that! It just confirmed our decision not to eat here. I have given better than minimum rating because the coffee is fine and the staff are friendly and efficient.

I can quite honestly say this is one of the worst places for service I have ever been. The staff are so rude, so unhelpful and complain and shout at the smallest request. Couldn't wait to leave. Made to feel so unwelcome. Food wasn't anything to write home about either. Massively gone downhill since the old chef went :(

Visited caffe Giardino today for lunch with family and I Must say what an amazing costumer service lady on food and on coffe very helpful , very delicious coffee smoothie&shakes and food delicious I will definitely come again. Thank you for Cafe Gardino the best service!

I’ve visited caffe Giardino on Friday 13th. The food is great, the employees are nice, but the manager shouts all over the room, especially calling out the name of one of the employees. He shouts at the staff and talks even though the customer doesn't wait long. She acts as if she has personal problems. And he takes it out on the employees.

Had the English breakfast. Sausage wasn't anything special. Mushrooms struck me as being tinned, and as such a tad slime. The meal filled a hole, but nothing more.

I had the chilli con carne and it was horrible and had green lumps and don't know what these green lumps were but they were not apatiteing what so ever plus the place was empty and it freaked of some sort of strange oder comeing from one of your employer's

I have visited this branch on several occasions and always find the food very good. Unfortunately every time I visit I am made to feel like an inconvenience. Never known such miserable and sour faced service. I am a very smiley person and a. Pet that not every person is but surely when you work in the service industry, it is a must? If the staff smiled a bit and didn’t huff and puff when you order a drink, this place would be lovely. Such a shame!

Ordered 2 breakfast and a sausage baguette with chips food missing from the breakfast and cold when the rest of the meal turned up the hash browns where still frozen . Potion sizes were awful for the price will definitely never use again

Rude staff , slow . Felt dark , dingey dull. Worst service ever ! The lady was so rude definitely should not be in customer facing role . She should be back of house doing dishes or washing up. The food average took ages get a panini out . Will not be returning .

I would say if you are looking for a new coffee shop to try out maybe give this place a try but I wouldn't recommend applying for any job offers they send out. I went for a job interview here last year and they guy I spoke to was very nice and was happy to see me but the next day on my trial shift I got in on time and was excited to start but I was only there for 1 hour before some lady told me they would be in contact with me neediest to say they didn't even bother to give me a phone call or a email.

Really expensive, food ok in places but terrible in others. Staff doing their best but could do with some customer service training. Would not recommend, which is sad as it used to be a favourite

Food was okay but very expensive for a very small portion. Customer service was poor, both members of staff on shift didn’t seems to want to help or serve us and when they did it seems with distain. Probably wouldn’t go back or recommend

Been here 1st time today never again Lady that served me looked like she chewed a wasp, no please or thank you, said how much it was, had to ask for my change. Went and sat down not long wait but it was thrown down poached egg was hard and vinegary get a better breakfast from a supermarket and you get more for your money

Worst experience in a restaurant in a long time. Portion sizes were ridiculous. Order a jacket potato that comes larger than life - dry as anything - no butter and 1 tablespoon of tuna. Chicken was dry. Customer service was horrendous - served our food over a barrier by a man that didn’t even look like he worked there. Won’t recommend or revisit. Prices were through the roof! £35 for a salad (mainly onion) jacket potato - late & a coke.

Went in for a breakfast which the young man served me very well and polite but as soon the manager come out there was a problem she was extremely rude and didn’t act like a manager did fire the young lad in front of costumers don’t think she is fit for this position

I've been visiting Giardino, on my own and with family and friends very frequently, for about fifteen years now and that should say on its own something very positive about this place. The staff are exceptional at their jobs and that shows in the great pride they project when it comes to providing fantastic customer service. They are always so very friendly and inviting which makes for a top notch environment to relax in. The food is great, as is the coffee. When the going gets touch the tough (those lovely staff) get going to maintain a friendly and service driven outcome for their customers.

Poor experience. Extremely bad customer service. Ordered desperately wanted mixed grill breakfast well within the time at 11.40am before shut off only to be told they wouldn't do it. If you're not prepared to offer the service then don't put it on the menu. My family member is in the military and doesn't even hesitate to put their life at risk & give good service but you can't even give them a mixed grill????? Hope you read this & take note & at least offer a resolution. So I visited & Ordered a Big Breakfast but sadly it wasn’t that Big tbh It came with a very thin sliced piece of bacon over cooked Hash Brown but did enjoy the Toast as the bread they use is nice the Beans were a little cold/Hard also so a Big Breakfast & Hot Choclate for £12 is pretty steep & was expecting more food on the plate for the price tbh.. (I’ve eaten a few breakfasts in my time just check my profile on here & im afraid this was the smallest portions) SEE PIC

The food was nice (but expensive) and it's spacious enough, but the staff are incredibly rude to each other, especially the chef to the waitress. If you have an open kitchen you can't behave like that as it ruins the experience for the diners before they've even sat down.

Popped in on Wednesday for a quick bite to eat. Ordered a cheese, bacon and avocado panini. It was completely tasteless. Small piece of tasteless bacon. Small portion of tasteless melted cheese. Few slices of tasteless avocado Few slices of tasteless tomato Think somebody needs to have a look at the pricing and quality of ingredients used.

I’ve never had to write a negative review before, but today I feel I have to. Myself and my nephew popped into Cafe Giardino today for a spot of lunch. I’m not sure what has happened but the quality of food has dramatically dropped compared to what used to be served! We both ordered a ham and cheese panini and a pot of tea. The tea was, well, tea. However the panini was pretty poor and rather tasteless. Firstly I was unfortunately surprised to see hardly any filling poking out of the sides of the panini so I opened it up. I was pretty shocked to find two and a half slices of generic supermarket wafer thin ham with no sight of cheese. I made staff aware that there wasn’t any cheese in it but was told that there was to which the lady pointed to what looked like Dairylee spreadable cheese! I was asked if I wanted any more cheese on it but it wouldn’t have been melted cheese! In hindsight, I should have asked for a new panini. All in all, I ordered two £6.30 ham and cheese panini’s and what I got was 2 warm butter soaked bread with a minuscule amount of ham and near invisible cheese. What has happened to this place? They used to serve really good and plentiful food. Think I’ll give this place a miss in the future.

Message to Ceolic disease sufferers ...DO NOT USE FOR GLUTEN FREE ..... I'm am sadly editing my 5* why ? I have been here numerous times but on my last and very last,may I add, visit I pointed out that it has to be GF. My mother had chosen her sandwiche and the lady proceeded to work with GF bread but was going use all the same boards and utensils to prep mine! Never had this problem before! What's happened? I was abruptly told that they cannot guarantee there procedures so GF contamination is not guaranteed! Thank goodness I observed their change of management procedures as I could have ended up seriously ill! They should not advertise Gluten Free if they can not manage accordingly. They did not event try! Has management changed? I will not recommend to anyone anymore and feel that GF should come off their menu and advertising. The following review was from what I used to experience.... What's happened? Adam thank you for all your help today. Lovely dealing with this chap who was extremely helpful in guiding us with their menus, specially the gluten free availability. His colleague was very helpful too, she went the extra mile to make sure all was happy. Received lovely portion dishes, service, presentation and quality were 10/10. My mother and I had a smoked salmon and cream cheese sandwich. It was a beautiful sandwich and the assistant was friendly, polite and professional. All the assistants really enjoyed their job and could not do enough for us. Really well organised lots of choices to eat and delicious beautifully presented food. We will be back soon.

The lady didn’t understand what we wanted ordered. Granary roll which they had on show in their cabinet so ended up with a white roll 40mins later. I understand it’s a busy time of year but would be good to be warned about the waiting time due to having to go to work. Also all that time we waited the food wasn’t the best. We use to come here quite regularly but will definitely not be coming back.

I am in the Cafe Giardino and not been here for sometime. The sausage rolls looked tasty but are far from it. I have informed a member of staff that it tastes uncooked. Hopefully, the cafe will take feedback on board. Plus a mug of coffe it was £6.10

Went in for coffees, service very slow & to top it all my ' mug of latte' which I drank within 30 secs, this costing over £3 Not what I call a refreshing drink & definitely will not go here again & will encourage friends not too either.

Sunday morning coffee and hot chocolate were disappointing after one sip we decided to go elsewhere

We enjoyed our lunch here, lovely food and we had a large portion size with the jacket potato. Very little waiting time, and the ladies serving us were lovely.

Grumpy staff, wrong/poorly cooked food and fire alarms constantly going off. Nah.

Poor service and staff seem less than enthused. Ordered a large salad and was told I could pick any 6 options, there were 5 dishes and one ‘dish’ was cheese… Nowhere did it say that everything on display was a chargeable extra nor did staff seem willing to compromise. Terrible value for money and had to leave to go and purchase a meal from another restaurant just to stop me feeling hungry!

Two jacket potatoes with such small amount of filling each and had to pay extra for a very small amount of salad. It was not worth the money at all and I won't be going back. It is an absolute rip off.

So disappointed!!! We've been regulars here for 6+ years and have always ordered the same combo panini with no problem or extra charges (chicken & goats cheese). Went in today and ordered our usual and was met by a new member of staff who looked at us like we were stupid or crazy and said that has never been allowed. After trying to tell her we've always ordered this she finally agreed that things have changed now and we could have the 2 items in a panini but it would cost an extra £3!! We declined and walked out. Such a shame but will not be going back again. Really miss the usual staff member Mario, now he's gone it's gone very downhill.

Have been a regular at the cafe and would be place we bring kids regularly to celebrate their little success at school etc. the last 2 visits haven’t been the best and today was the last straw. The pasta served was so less than the regular portion. Hair on plates that I had to go and exchange it! Again no apologies given! This used to be a bliss for us but doubt it will be from now on!

Made a visit while car was being serviced and not disappointed- vast range of baguettes etc with lots of choice’s of fillings and all made quick. Very clean as tables were attended to as they were vacated- would definitely use again.

Poached egg on white. It arrived swimming in water from the poaching but really the toast was sopping wet. Butter your own toast with very cold butter and eggs not poached in a poaching cup and therefore was poached yolk and a tiny bit of white. Really unhappy. Every other time I've had excellent food and service. I was just disappointed this time. I won't be going for breakfast again.

The place was clean and tidy but the girl behind the counter was not the happiest I’ve ever met, she proceeded to pick my slice of lemon cheese cake up with her hands free from gloves or any kind of cleansing after taking our money and giving us our change, I asked for another piece and pointed out what she had done she didn’t apologise at all. We also asked for sparkling water and got still !! This was changed but didn’t give us a good impression won’t be back any time soon .

I've lived in Basingstoke all my life and never been here until today. I popped in just for a coffee and was pleasantly surprised with the selection of hot and cold food. I ended up ordering a giardino classic Panini and was not disappointed. Superb...

Really very friendly service, good food and reasonably priced. They were very accommodating with my dietary requirements.

I have become a regular at Giardino and take advantage of their loyalty card, with which you get a free drink every 10 stamps. I have had toasties and eggs, both of which were good; the scrambled eggs were excellent. My usual latte is always good and the service is friendly and efficient.

Had to wait 15 min to order, another 10 min till food was ready whilst there was hardly anyone in the cafe. No glasses served with drinks. Had to ask for table to be cleaned and all the ladies working all looked miserable as sin....

Somethings changed here and not for the better. The business was not full and yet the FOUR people behind the counter were advising customers of a 45 minute wait? People were turning around and walking out. No one seemed bothered. We only wanted tea and a scone so stuck with it. Sadly the scone was stále and hard as nails. We watched them that were served bring there food back because it was cold but with no apologies. Not sure how I feel about all the staff, including those preparing food, not wearing masks and some of them not wearing gloves. Not sure what the rules are now but didn't look safe. One to avoid for the future i think.

I ordered a decaf mocha frappe to go. Where to start...firstly, the girl at the till didn’t know how to make it and was asking her colleague which couldn’t care less. Secondly the drink was overpriced for what I got. It didn’t come in a takeaway cup as I asked and it didn’t taste like a mocha. While waiting the waitresses and people behind the till were talking so loudly. Not a nice experience for a first timer

In a shopping centre, opposite Iceland, so not great views from "outside" seating. However staff very friendly and helpful and coffee was good.

We queued for 20 minutes and were given our drinks and we were passed a number. Then we sat down for about 40 minutes and still were not given our food. We then approached them about it and were given the worst customer service I have ever seen. They looked liked the didn't care after we had waited for an hour and we weren't even give a 'Sorry for the inconvenience.' Avoid this café when there is a big queue unless you are prepared to wait a very long time!!
