In the Area for a few days, so, thought we would eat away from the Hotel. Warm welcome and drinks arrived quickly, but, sadly, presentation and quality of food was poor. Nachos to start looked like a child had thrown it on a plate. For main, the lasagne was burnt and clearly been through the microwave. Waitress was apologetic, but, no blame attached to her. How could this plate be deemed acceptable to be sent out? Shocking!

Family group of 6 . Early dinner booked for 6.30pm on a Friday evening. Fairly busy, good atmosphere. Service good. Food and drinks quite expensive for what we got, e.g. £16 for a mediocre burger with just a few chips. £6.20 for a pint and Pinot at £25/bottle. A generally OK experience but probably wont return.

We recently visited Chineham Arms and were warmly welcomed by Hannah and Sophie. The ambiance of the pub is both cosy and charming, contrary to some reviews I had read. It boasts a quirky, festive outdoor space that reminds one of a Bavarian drinking spot. Having already eaten, we opted for drinks and were impressed by the delicious proseccos and the exceptional mulled wine. The menu looked so tempting that we decided to try the lamb kofte and squid - both dishes were a culinary delight, especially the lamb kofte served with potato salad and pita bread. A truly delightful experience!

Booked this venue for my wife's surprise 40th birthday and had full use of the outside 'Cow Shed' area and i must say how fantastic it was to have such a lovely outside covered space for all our friends and family! From booking the Chine Arms with Rachel and Chris to the fantastic service by all the bar staff who where so helpful all the way through, especially Lauren who always ensured that we had everything and where happy to the great food that was brought out for the buffet. We couldn't fault anything at all to be honest and it was a great hit with all that came to celebrate! Many who would want to use this space for there upcoming parties too! There was never a sense of being rushed at any point, the tables where being cleared in the same manor as if we where dinning in the restaurant area. We will be back!

I've been multiple times with colleagues and the food has been fine at best and bad at worst each time. Even the nachos aren't great, with the cheese used congealing into one blob within a couple of minutes and not enough of the other toppings. The building itself is nice, though, with a lovely outdoor area (part of which is covered).

I find the Chineham arms a lovely pub. Staff are friendly and a wide range of drinks. Cheaper than my other locals in Sherfield on loddon. Food is tasty (rate the pizzas). My parents had their 25 wedding anniversary in the cow shed. Really well organised and lovely hospitality from the managers. And it is free to hire!! No complaints from me. But I am a regular. New managers have brought a lot to the pub. Poker nights, darts teams and a fab Sunday quiz. Dog friendly, family friendly and plenty of space to hang with friends

I drop into the Chineham Arms from time to time and have known a number of the landlords over the years, all very different, and Garry being easily the best. Always appeared happy even when he wasn't and a warm friendly welcome. Couldn't be more different from the current situation. To be fair some of the young bar staff are warm and friendly. I won't drone on and hate being negative, but the place has really changed. Recently I went in and there were poker tables all over the place. What is all that about? I will leave on a happy note; I visited last week and laughed out loud when I saw the forthcoming televised football matches. Check out my picture. Too funny. Had no idea The New Forest team were now in the Premier League! LOL.

My husband and I visited here today after reading the reviews. We ordered roast beef dinner and shepherd's pie. My husbands dinner was hot and tasted lovely. My roast beef was such a disappointment. The vegetables, gravy and yorkshire pudding were cold. I was asked if I wanted it reheated or a fresh one. I refused as the cold dinner had put me off and they must have known this when they served it. They did not charge for this meal.

I have just read several trip advisor reviews and can’t believe we are visiting the same pub: I have been a regular for 18 years and the last 18 months have been the worst I have ever experienced. The current managers are the worst I have ever seen- oh sorry the point being you barely ever see them except on a poker or darts night clearly with their mates!!! What about those customers that have been going for ever - how are we treated, I am very interested to see if this review is taken down or kept as a real experience- happy to have a chat Mr Current Chineham Arms Andy - are you brave enough to have the chat??

Having been told to try this pub by a friend we thought we’d try it out as we’ve not been here before. I can honestly say that Upton arrival it was like a regimented soldiers camp! We fully understand the rules etc, but the ‘older lady’ ( maybe landlady?) not sure? She was rude and to the point about ‘how’ to use my phone camera etc to log in.. I’m 40 not 10.... So beware of the hard faced lady!! Pricy beer and food, not the best place we’ve been too, hopefully visited on a ‘Bad’ day for them?!? Young girls behind the bar were lovely and helpful..

This is the second time that I have been to The Chineham Arms with family that live in the area. The place has a lovely atmosphere and is clearly doing a great job in remaining a Covid secure environment. Plenty of outdoor space etc a one way system and ordering on line. The problem was that the app was not easy to use even for people a generation younger than me. I would have walked if they had not been with me. I ordered Fish and chips, this is my go to lunchtime meal because if done right it is just the ticket, if done wrong it shows up the issues in the kitchen. Great Chips ! excellent size of fish but cooked in very bland batter a little thought would have been good here. it came with Tartare sauce which either came out of the cheapest jar or was made in house with the most horrible mayo , not good boys and girls. The real game changer was a serving of mushy peas mixed with either spearmint or peppermint such that I thought it was green toothpaste. I was just so disappointed. The service was good once you got beyond the App. Personally I would have talked to the customers and asked what they wanted in the traditional way.

Arranged a relaxed works leaving do here on a Friday evening 31/1/20 taking advantage of their pizza buffet which was served in a reserved area by the bar. Comms were very good before the do to clarify numbers and expectations. The pub serves good beer including London Pride and Amstel, and the pizzas were surprisingly superb for a British pub, with a great range of pizzas on offer. As a heads up you need to order and pay for the pizza buffet up front - but it actually saves any bother on the night, to be honest, and is a friendly, relaxed, cost efficient way of providing food while everyone is enjoying chatting and drinking.Wrapping up two and half happy working years here with fantastic work colleagues made for a brilliant evening.Fully recommended.

Went last Sunday at 2pm for a friend's birthday, 17 people, booked two weeks in advance. It was embarrassing. The roast ran out during ordering, several people had to choose other meals because not only has they run out of the meats, they admitted to running out of veg! That was obvious when the meal finally arrived, as veg was pretty scarce! I had fish and what they described as chips... scraps more like... We were there for three hours, it took so long to get served. The manager avoided us even though we asked to see him... We got what amounted to less than the price of a drink off the bill... Terrible in every way, don't bother. Serving staff were nice, and as embarrassed as us! We had a great time despite the venue because of the company, and the fact we couldn't believe what we were experiencing.

As far as pubs go, this is not like a cramped, traditional pub. It is modern and has a great range of drinks, from cask ales to fine wine. The food is exceptional and the chefs even suggest wine pairings if you are willing to spend that little bit more. The service is very welcoming, and even on a cold, wet evening, there is undercover heated outdoor seating. There is no separate allergen menu, however, there is a range of dishes which are available. A modern pub, local to the business park a few hundred meters away so expect to be busy on a Friday.

Went with friends today after our Slimming group and just wanted a Chicken Salad, on the menu was a Mozzarella salad for £12 you can add Chicken for a further £3 - Wow we thought this is either a very expensive salad or a really great one. We didn't want the Mozzarella so after consultation with the waitress we were offered a 'really great' Chicken salad for £13. We waited for 40 minutes at which point if we hadn't already paid we would have given up and left. Eventually a plate arrived with half a bag of Rocket salad, half a tomato sliced 2 small wedges of cucumber, 2 rings of red onion and the smallest Chicken breast I have ever seen. Plus the salad leaves had not been checked as there were a few dead mottled leaves there too. Pretty appalling. Give them their due when we complained they refunded the price of one salad although both together couldn't have cost them more than £5, Not going there again, very very expensive for what you get

I visited this pub today with three friends, two of us ordered chicken salad at £13 a pop, the salad consisted of a handful of leaves, one tomato quartered, a couple of slices of cucumber chopped and a couple of slices of onion and half a breast of chicken. The salad leaves could be bought in nearby Tesco for £1 a bag and I wish they had have got them there, the leaves we had were past their best and were limp and yellowing.... a very miserable salad. I did rant at the waitress as we had paid up front and waited 40 minutes for it....she did offer us the money back for one of the salads, which made the salads £6.50 each, still expensive for what we got....Miserable tasteless meal, remind me not to go there again!!!!

We had booked a table, which was good, as the restaurant was full I think including a large party of around 16. Drinks were fine, starters were tasty. Salt & pepper squid was lovely although quite a small portion. Chilli beef nachos were more plentiful and tasty. Then there was a really really long wait for our main courses......,which when they arrived were rather mixed. My burger was lovely although the french fries were over done. Fish was also over done (dark brown batter, I think in the fryer for too long) and chunky chips would have been better. Nice coleslaw though :-) Bit then from this point on, it all went really wrong, as no one ever came to our table again! We waited for around 30 mins with empty plates but no one took them away and in the end we decided not to have dessert, although we were originally planning to. We eventually went up to the bar to pay as it was the only way to get any attention, and spoke to the manager, who to her credit kindly knocked off our drinks tab as an apology. Hopefully this was a one off, but surely pubs realise they will be very busy on sunny Friday evenings and can plan their staffing accordingly?

Nice enough inside, staff friendly, seating and bar area good for a drink or watching sport.Food was average for the money, does not compare to other pubs in basingstoke at similar price point. Battered cod and chips, pretty bland, chips were the best part. Salmon, creamed leeks and fennel and caper salad, dry salmon, token amount of leeks and fennel.Sat in restaurant, nobody came after 20 mins so ended up ordering myself (big sign says table service). I dont mind ordering my own food but the sign said otherwise.

We had some social plates to share as a family. Excellent food expertly cooked to perfection by Dan the chef. Great presentation, didn't have to wait long, great service.

Yet again the Chineham Arms have come to my rescue. It was a 40th birthday celebration and more family than expected accepted the invitation at the last minute. The original restuarant couldn't accomodate 18 people bu the Chineham Arms stepped in. We had a great meal at good value. My only comment would be that the booker had asked us to be out by 7.30pm to accomodate another table but we hadn't even ordered our desserts by then. However we were not rushed in anyway. Thank you so much to the team at the CA - again!

We have been kept waiting for an hour for the main meal (Sunday roast), and 30 mins for a single scoop of ice cream for the dessert! I wasn't impressed at all. We didn't even had the ice cream because at that stage, me and my kids just walked out. Especially when the people next to you who arrived later were being served first, and already having their desserts where as we're still waiting after 2 people already asked us what we ordered for dessert 30 mins ago!! So disgusting. I will not recommend this place to my family and friends. The price you pay (which is expensive for a roast by the way), is not worth for the services you'll get. Such a shame!

The pub is friendly and has some nice open fires, also nice in the summer as plenty of outside seating. I've eaten here a few times, the food is ok, some days better than others. The business park tends to use the pub quite a lot so drink prices compared with other pubs are on the higher side. They do have some good premium beers on tap though!

We called in to this charming pub whilst on holiday. It was excellent from the friendly staff to the delicious food. Our welcome was warm and friendly. The pub spotlessly clean and the food amazing. It was in fact faultless. Our puddings were so good. It saddened me to read a review of people moaning about people smoking out side in the garden YES outside. Well I do not smoke but as people have to go outside to smoke why do people complain I know it's not the most pleasant thing to smell but it's not their fault or the pubs and at least it's not inside anymore. It really does not bother me. Some people do not like dogs but some people do. I mean who wants a dog sat next to them and I have three dogs but would not expect people to welcome them unconditionally. But this pub was the most charming place I have visited for a very long time.

Good, hearty, pub sandwiches and decently priced. Dogs welcome in the bar area. Bigger meals available. Open fire makes it warm and cosy. Friendly staff. Toilets and fittings in there could do with some 'fixing'.

Been a year since I visited this place, last time was disappointing to say the least. This time no different, food was bloody awful, atmosphere was shocking! Will give it another year before I go again. Barton's Mill is about 3 miles from there, I'd suggest head that way!!

We popped into the pub for a beer and a quick meal early evening. The pub was very attractive inside and outside with lots of seating and a range of hand pulled beers. Service was good but the meals were only average. I had a burger which was tasty but it only came with a small number chips, so I was hungry afterwards. My wife had a steak pie with chips which was more wholesome but thought it had come out of the microwave and was not made in house. At £11 a head we thought it was far too expensive for what we got.

I have been here many times as it is my local but the first time my wife & i visited it was under different management however at the time we had a dog & this was one of the few dog friendly places in basingstoke, as soon as we arrived they somehow knew we had a dog and she came with a bowl of water as well as 2 free bags of treats for our Ryan.To say that was what made our first visit perfect was quickly outclassed. Now the food might be a bit pricey for a pub but it is well worth it we had triple fried chips & beer battered cod with peas & tartare sauce & slice of lemon WOW that was so nice it is one of the reasons we return.Aside from the food there is a nice selection of beer, ciders and wine.Their burgers are mouth watering as well.Personally in a year they have remained consistent even though they have had chef changes and management changes, well done I say for keeping it consistent throughout all these changes.Even the people who frequent here are decent, polite and span all age groups.Essentially this is all you could want from a local

Fancied a Sunday roast lunch with the family. Most places were full. Ended up here. Food was average. Some of the veg was cold. We're fairly sure the roast potatoes were cooked from frozen. Staff seemed uninterested. We had to find one to get the bill, then the waitress came over and just read out the amount rather than give us a bill. Not sure if that's normal or not but I wasn't actually sure what we were paying for as a result. Have had drinks at this pub many times. Won't be returning for food any time soon.

It may not be the cheapest place to drink compared to town, but I can walk so save spending £20 on taxis. Friendly staff, good atmosphere, nice locals and nice outside seating. Bar staff are always great, I'll mention Tom as he is good fun and can give friendly banter while staying professional. Marlon and the team are doing a good job.

This is my local and so i'm aware it's not the cheapest but the meals i've had before have all been great and it's within easy walking distance. We visited today for a Sunday roast which i've not had here before. The table was booked for 1pm and the place was pretty empty. There was only one other table of diners. The Sunday roast price is cheaper than advertised on their website and actually costs £12.95 not £14. I had beef. All looked superb but the deliciously pink beef was a little chewy and I had to cut lots of fat off. Most of the veg was really tasty but the roast potatoes tasted heated up rather than freshly roasted . Staff were courteous as oppose friendly and noone came out to check we were happy with our meal or ask us afterwards when they cleared the plates away. This is a really nice pub and I will visit again for drinks and other food off the menu. However, staff could definitely be friendlier and I wouldn't order a roast dinner again. I think this is a shame as there is lots of potential but I guess the place needs someone who is willing to make the effort to make the difference that is needed.

When the pub was built it was a great boost for us locals as somewhere to have a nice pint and a meal but, over the years with the development of the business park, the family friendly atmosphere has been lost and the prices have been hiked to maximise profits from the corporate credit card holders. I still pop in every now and then but it is not very good value for money (maybe Fullers should investigate how a London Pride costs £4+?) and sometimes the menu is very limited depending on which staff bother to turn up.

This pub has a great garden, some of it covered, and beautiful outside lighting and planting. Food is ok but not great. I had a burger which was very rubbery and my daughter had calamari which were nice but came as a very small portion for the price. Lovely place to sit outside for a drink on a sunny evening.

Great food and atmosphere, would be nice to pop to the local more often. But it's quite expensive and is more of a treat than a regular occurrence.

We had lunch here on bank holiday and were really impressed. Service was friendly and the food came quickly and was a good standard. It is maybe a touch pricey but it is the only pub in the area. Good job it is a nice one!

Was in the middle of eating my lunch when I needed a drink of water. Went up to get a water came back to find my lunch had been taken away. Even though my coat and bag was on the back of the chair to show that there was still someone sat there. I asked the lad have you just taken my food and he said yes sorry then walked off. Bar was busy but only 2 people working behind it. So bit of a que.

This pub is highly recommended for a delicious Sunday roast - the Yorkshire puddings were exceptional and the online booking system was easy to use
