Visited here on a sunny weekday in the first week of school Easter holidays.
It was quite quiet when we first arrived & we had the choice of where to sit.
Personally,I found the table service side & non table service side options of where to sit a bit confusing. I would say the staff did too as they were constantly running around looking after both sides 🤔 On that point the staff got busier & busier, from what I could tell only 2 staff were working the whole area (although a couple of other staff members did serve food to tables) They definitely need more staff.
Food was okay & nicely presented. Average prices for location.
Couldn't be bothered to cook lunch, so had a meal at this pub (which have visited occasionally). Slendid 8oz steak, chips, tomato and rocket. Very decent pint of Aspall's cider too.
Staff were also very pleasant and courteous, so the whole dining experience (in a traditional pub) was excellent! Thanks very much!
Visited recently and had mixed feelings. The pub itself is nice and offers a good range of drinks. I ordered the duck cakes with poached egg – unfortunately, the egg was undercooked, though the hunter’s chicken was enjoyable.
The experience was let down by poor attention to detail and service. Our table was set with no napkins and mismatched cutlery (two forks and one knife), so we had to take from another table. The real issue was the customer service – it took ages to get served as the female staff member seemed more interested in chatting with the locals. Nobody checked on us during the meal, and it took over an hour for our dirty plates to be cleared.
A lovely venue, but sadly not matched by the service.
A large store offering many food products, from fresh vegetables and fruits to semi-finished products, preserves and ready-made meals, as well as my favorite sourdough bread. I really like their bread.
Self-service checkouts definitely make shopping easier.
Absolutely appalling behaviour – RACISM and ASSAULT by a member of staff.I had a shocking experience at The Cuban in Canterbury that I feel needs to be shared. My friend and I were standing near the windowsill inside with our handbags next to us when a tall African bouncer approached us aggressively. He began waving his finger in our faces and acted confrontational without any clear explanation—apparently just because our bags were resting on the windowsill. What made this worse was that he targeted my friend, who is Black Caribbean, with clear and disturbing racial bias. It was painfully obvious that this man—despite being Black himself—was prejudiced and aggressive toward us, especially her.
We visited today for Sunday lunch a party of 6 including 2 grandchildren (2 and 5 years old). After ordering and paying (!) we waited for 53 minutes for the food to arrive - actually it needed a reminder, and even then my son's roast pork was forgotten and had to 'plated'. The food was very poor - not that anyone came to ask - with the veg tasting like it had been made at 8am and kept warm in a steamer. My potatoes were uncooked in the centre. The whole experience was reminiscent of school dinners from the 1960s.
I'm still astonished, 8 hours later.
A once lovely village pub has now been ruined by the current manager. Many locals have since had to drink in other establishments within the village after many years at the Half Moon. Racial
Discrimination was never a part of this place until now. This has no place in our village let alone in society.
We visited this establishment. When arrived only two tables in garden.
Ordered food garden filled up we waited well over an hour. When asked told some people before us ordered sandwiches, so got theirs first !! Other tables had fish and chips and burgers.
When food arrived coleslaw was just mayonnaise, camembert balls were rock hard jacket was so salty and breakfast had no egg. We ate what we could as had a very important visit that we travelled 2 hrs too.
Staff we very unhelpful and uncaring and just brushed off. I myself work in the food industry and found service unsatisfactory and if there had been a reason for delay should have been given the choice to cancel order ! Worst £60 spent .
The rating is for surrounding as kids could play whilst we waited so long.
Really disappointing as had been recommended should have just gone to McDonald's ! As food probably better !!
