Costa Coffee in Cherwell

Some atmosphere in this otherwise Costa-cloned modern box-designed coffee drive-thru outlet. Coffee was the best part of it.

Unfortunately the last couple of times going through the drive thru I haven’t had the greatest experience. My order hasn’t been correct. Today (9/10) I went through and ordered my drinks. One flavoured latte with oat milk and one latte with ordinary milk and one shot. When the girl served me she repeated my order and when the drinks came the oat sticker was on the wrong drink, the one shot latte. I questioned this and they just took the sticker off and replaced it on my flavoured latte. I didn’t feel that was sufficient for me to believe it was oat milk so I asked her to confirm with the person who made the drink if she definitely used oat milk. She said she did but after that I didn’t really feel that happy about it. More like they didn’t want to remake it so they just switched the stickers. Remaking would have been the better option. So I left. When I got to my mum’s she had the one shot latte. But that was incorrect also. it was so dark it was like they added an extra shot and not just the one shot as ordered. She hates strong coffee so it went straight down the sink. It’s a shame because up to the last two times I haven’t had any issues. I have to be careful to only have oat or almond milk and need to be confident the staff are making drinks exactly as ordered so I am not sick.

Costa is Costa! Often stop here when using the M40, it's less packed than any services and of course cheaper. Staff seemed very knowledgeable this time round, unable to discount the food they had marked up at 50% off blaming the till. Also said you can't use the app and have discounted food! All rather odd I think they eventually got fed up of me questioning the price I was charged, lost their temper and refunded everything!

How Costa claim to sell coffee is a breach of the trade descriptions act. Appalling bitter fluids drowned in milk stuffs. Why?

Ordered 2 Mocha's, no offering of chocolate sprinkles like most sites do. Pastries looked anemic and cold..

Called I a week ago for mediocre coffee when car charging. The toilets were abysmal. Today exactly the same.

Service was terrible. As a customer I said thanks to them twice but non of them reply. I went in at 5:45pm, The workers seems doesn’t happy to serve me. Is this because I am an Asian? This an updated review. We have been many times to this place and overall it is a great place to go to. This is an efficent Costa where the staff work together well. (I've been to a lot of Costa and some either lack quality or efficency). This is also a busy Costa so the fact the are efficent is important. The food is good and the drinks are good. With the customer service also been good that give this a high rating.

Didn't have food but very nice staff and atmosphere

After so many years of going to Costa for a flat white, I can honestly say that the barista makes it right about 30% of the time. It's hard to take now, when they have increased the price (again) to £3.75. I will definitely be going less in the future. However, when they do make it right - like today at the Costa in Banbury - it's a wonderful pleasure. Well done to the barista there.

An oasis of calm during the rush hour. Costa hot chocolate always a pleasure to be savoured. Plenty of parking, polite and efficient service, clean environment. I had not been here before, but there were a number of regulars taking a break from their early morning routine.

the 3 stars on service are for jack, he took my order was very polite, as for the girl working with him, she was speaking to him like dirt, rolling her eyes & when i smiled at her not only did she mock it once but twice, when i had to double take, not very nice at all, the hot chocolate is okay, toilets are not very clean

Staff here are always in a rush to close up at night can see they do not like there choice of career. The drive thru is always closed before closing hours, it states on there website the main building is open till 8pm and drive thru untill 9pm, the drive thru is always shut off by half 7 what is mis-leading, when you go into the shop the machines are broken down before closing floors are wet and there's a ton of paper towels covering the drip trays covered in muck on the coffee machines what puts me off completely.

Gingerbread hot chocolate drink was vile, wait in queue for 10 mins to be served then wait another 10 mins to get my drink, won't go back there again

Not a good experience today as someone was letting their 2 children run riot and taking no notice of them and making a lot of noise. We are regular customers and this is not usual, it is usually a good experience having a coffee and a chat.

A vibrant busy environment staffed by first rate and attentive happy servers! Sadly, the WCs seem to be used as a Service Station by non-patrons. And since Coca-Cola took Costa over, the dairy alternatives have changed to CC Brands with many additives, and lots of sugar, and nowhere near as healthy, tasty or good for you as previously.

Usually a welcome break while we charge the car. Today however I felt very let down. No gluten free lunch food at all and no packets of nuts which I could have made do with. Had the last remaining porridge pot ( luckily I'm not coeliac so hopefully ok). Was given a dirty spoon to eat it with! Twice!!! No soap in the only functioning toilet, but they did replenish it quickly when I mentioned it. I hope my next visit is better or we'll go round the corner to the petrol station where there may be more choice for dietary requirements.

Went through the drive through service was a bit slow. They weren't too busy as it was early evening. Don't like the paper straws because they get too soggy and it's difficult to drink. I know it's not their fault but someone needs to look into an alternative.

I am writing this review to express my utmost disappointment with the Costa Coffee store in Banbury. My sister recently had a distressing encounter at this location that has left us feeling cheated and disheartened. During her visit, my sister paid for her order with a £20 note. Shockingly, the store manager, who should be setting an example for the staff, took advantage of this situation and deliberately withheld £10 from her change. Instead, she only received the change that would have been given if she had paid with a £10 note. This act of deceit by a store manager is particularly disconcerting and raises serious concerns about the integrity of this establishment. To add insult to injury, when my sister questioned the discrepancy, the store manager claimed to have checked the security camera footage, insisting that only a £10 note was used. This assertion is blatantly false, as my sister was given the change in her hand, clearly indicating that she had paid with a £20 note. It is inconceivable that such an incident would occur if their claims were true. The lack of honesty and integrity displayed by the store manager is truly disheartening. It is a betrayal of trust and a violation of basic ethical standards. Customers should feel safe and confident in the hands of the store's management, but this experience has shattered that trust entirely. I strongly urge Costa Coffee to investigate this matter thoroughly and take appropriate action to rectify the situation. It is crucial that such unethical practices are addressed promptly and that steps are taken to prevent them from happening again in the future. As a result of this incident, I cannot in good conscience recommend the Costa Coffee in Banbury to anyone. Such dishonest behavior by the store manager is unacceptable and tarnishes the reputation of the entire establishment. Customers deserve better treatment, and I hope that Costa Coffee will take this feedback seriously and make the necessary improvements to restore trust and confidence.

Ordered 2 drinks which took 25 minutes to come out. We were stood with a few others having the same issue. Nobody seemed to have a clue what was going on(even the supposed manager). Avoid this place at all COSTa.

Stale food. Offhand staff at till. Interminable waiting - not enough staff. Costa has a lot of traffic on a Sunday morning and are not doing anything about how bad this outlet is.

Every thing its great but aircondition its always too high . Instead of relaxing I have to put on a jacket and the coffee gets cold because of the aircon.

Member of staff who served us today was so rude ! Talked at us in clipped tones and visibly irritated when we couldn’t hear her . Slammed around and banged our drinks in the counter. Won’t be going back .

It is a Costa, so you know what you are getting: a decent drink and a tasty snack. This particular branch has a drive through and is located close to the M40 (junction 11) next to a Premier Inn and an electric car charging facility. Despite the rather industrial surroundings, it has a friendly atmosphere and there is outdoor seating in the car park.

VERY RACISTS I went into the shop, the boy he saw me. I’m not a white person and he did ignore me at the beginning and then I asked for a bubble tea and also I asked if you can give me a big one they said we don’t have a big one, no problem so can I have this one I asked and they said yes no problem I came back there was no bubble in it and I asked him why he didn’t have the bubble they said because we have no actual straws so I said you could’ve told me at the beginning and he said this is it do you want your refund in very bad manner and don’t come back

Busy. Service was quick and the cortado was spot on.

As of late, the service has taken a steep decline. I've resorted to Starbucks. (I know) Update. Still shocking. Blonde behind the counter scoffed when asked for a clean glass. Bad, bad attitude. Give another couple of months.

It’s a small Costa coffee shop, adjacent to the charging station and often impossible to get a table. It needs trebling in floor space!

I always find the service/staff in this Costa more rushed, unfriendly and abrupt in comparison to the 3 others in Banbury.

Called in for a coffee and some breakfast. However, once parked, it became apparent that Costa only allowed guide dogs on their premises. I used the drive-through but, in the end, only came away with a small coffee (rather than a large) and just a small pack of biscuits to share with my four-legged companion. Apparently, this is a decision from Costa's head office. Well, Costa head office, I'm off to the starbucks at the Gateway retail park to have some porridge, a takeaway cake and a very large decent coffee as this mocha tastes watered down. Thanks, Costa, for not allowing dogs, a deep, narrow-minded attitude.

Went for Sunday breakfast. Handy as it was near the electric car chargers. Quite busy so a bit of a queue. The bacon roll and Belgian cinnamon brioche bun were delicious. Don't ever order a large coffee as the regular was plenty big enough!

Dropped in here while using the charging station across the road. Costa coffee may not be anything out of the ordinary, but the staff in this one are very friendly, kind and importantly at this sort of place efficient!

It's alright,, I asked for a coffee latte,, it was just milk 🥛🥛 not happy experience,, I think American coffee or expreso much better

Had a chicken wrap which had a tiny amount of shredded chicken in plus chewy. Wrap was seemingly raw in part... Awful, not usual for Costa

Fast and efficient drive through operation

Ideal sop off for us whilst we charge car up at charge station next door to Costa. Nice staff,lots of indoor or outdoor seating usual fast efficient service.

Great Costa. Conveniently located and they have dog bowls too. Lovely staff as well. Only issue is that the toilets are not very nice at all. For a Costa, I usually expect something a bit nicer. Otherwise, the food, coffee and service were lovely

A perfectly serviceable chain coffee shop with a moderate sized indoor seating area as well as drive thru. Someone shared some crab roe flavoured snacks outside and I haven't made up my mind if I enjoyed them or not.

This place is always ridiculously slow be it in the cafe or through the drive thru. Today however was a new record. 20 minutes to wait for a coffee is totally unacceptable. Needs to do much much better

Staff are not polite and do not engage. Service is extremely slow, they do not use the overflow parking at the drive through leaving long queues!! Is this laziness?? Use if desperate and have time on hands!

We had a bit of time to spare so we sat inside for a tea, coffee and a biscuit. The tables were clean and cleared and the staff were friendly, efficient and helpful. Lots of free parking outside. There are newspapers available to read and a good selection of sandwiches, cakes and biscuits.

Barely worthy of 1 star...but 0 stars wasn't an option. Had very little of the food on the menu available. Service was poor initially, and bordering on rude after we tried to work out what products were actually available. Won't be going back.

Stopped for a coffee break here on my road trip. There is ample parking and also, a couple of toilets.

Recently, I have abandoned this Costa for my favourite drink due to its policy of closing the doors without notice for those wishing to sit in and relax with their coffee. As they don't publish these changes in opening hours, (for example the Costa app. could be updated), you never find out until you've parked and then pushed, unsuccessfully, to open the door. Anyway, plenty of other places to go to who seem to want my money.

Opening hours are inconsistent, due to ‘staff shortages’ and/or ‘technical issues’ apparently, according to the many notices sellotaped to the doors. Today we got here at 16:30 and the place was already closed except for the drive thru. On the occasions where we have been allowed in to use the toilets, they were found to be unhygienic with hair and urine being stuck to the toilet rim, and a soaking wet floor (nearer the toilet than the wash basin). Not experienced this from Costa before, it’s such a shame. Experiencing this once or twice is fair enough, we’re all living in hard times at the moment, but 4 times?!! Just be aware of this if you are planning to call in while you are charging your car up at the nearby charging points.

A very good Costa. Excellent Covid precautions. Nice staff, great coffee and right next to the super fast EV charging station just off Junction 11 on M40. Free WiFi.

Usually love costa and I am a regular visitor. As a family we stopped off at the car charging point at 17:35 and checked online and the opening times were until 18:00. Got to the door at 17:36 which was locked, plenty of staff inside all restocking and chatting, I knocked the door but was ignored. My toddler was needless to say very upset and I am very disappointed. The opening times on the door even said 18:00, won’t be using costa again!!

I suspect these guys get a fair bit of traffic from those charging their electric cars across the car park. I've been there a few times now and the staff have been friendly and the coffee very good - can't really ask for much more.

Costa should feel proud about this location. The staff are quite possibly the friendliest I have ever encountered. Great service, lovely location, all while I wait for my car to charge 🙌
