Costa Coffee Banbury Cross Retail Park in Cherwell

No vege baps left at 10am so couldn't have bap and drink deal for£5-99, asked if I could have vege toastie instead same deal at lunch from 11 , and told no ,I think a little cater for the customer would do them a lot of good especially as it looked like they can't get stock levels right , probably thr mass of meat baps will.be thrown away

Went in with family and had raspberry mini- bubbles frappe, blueberry bubble tea and passion fruit and mango cooler. The two bubble drinks had no boba in them which is disappointing when that’s what we have ordered, and the raspberry drink tastes very weak and straws are missing, not impressed.

Busy shop with seating upstairs. No food today 😭 It does lack a little something 😕

The food is okay ,as in any Costa coffee shop . However , the tables are almost never clean. I have been there few times , and even when it is not busy , the tables are sticky and dirty , with dirty trays and mugs left there for hours .

Only had a mocha but was good. Could be hotter though. I always find their drinks not very hot

Very good service by pleasant staff. Flat white was very good with good amount of coffee in it. Parking is easy and seating is of good condition and clean. Tables could be cleared quicker and given a wipe. Wiping isn't just for COVID.

After a bit of shopping it was nice to stop for a nice big hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows. The staff was very friendly. The store has a good selection of cakes, decent seating area and pleasant ambience.

The coffee was OK, a bit bitter for my liking. But the Toilets looked like a farmer had used it for his Pigs. One toilet out of order and the other like a farm Yard. Don't buy a coffee if you need a wee.

Another car crash in a Costa. The staff appeared to never have been in a cafe, much less worked in one. Confusion abounded over a simple enough order with drinks left off, customer cup left next to the till. Same old Costa rip-off on the non dairy milk, which I will never pay on principle. Costa really needs to get with the program and stop discrimination against people who do not want cow's milk. Other chains manage it successfully. Lousy microwaved sandwiches. Why not use a proper sandwich press? Awful, echoey of misery to top it off.

Cortado was done wrong 2 times and the toast which I ordered came burnt. When I asked for a redo I received a very undercooked toast. The blueberry tart seemed to be quite old and didn't taste as it normally does.

Out of date, stale food. Very slow and offhand service from the member of staff taking orders. Very long waits - not enough staff.

The person who served us was rude from the moment we arrived. Got the order wrong, tried to blame us, shouting at the young lad that was working with her trying to blame him for her mistakes. He was the one who tried to talk to her and ended up by being shouted out by the same women. The order was still wrong and due the attitude of one person we decided to leave. Extremely disappointed with her customer service skills and the way she spoke to the employee in front of customers. The young lad was apologetic and really tried. We did try to say something at the time but she did not want to listen.

We found lots of customers enjoying the food options, which include sandwiches, pastries, and cakes. Overall, Costa Coffee is a popular choice for coffee lovers who are looking for a wide variety of drinks and food options. However, it may not be the best choice for those on a tight budget.

Standard Costa. Fixtures and fittings looking a little bit tired. I'm sure the service could be quicker; there to seemed no urgency.

Very friendly and professional staff and great tasting coffee. I highly recommend the pre 11:00 breakfast specials.

Terrible experience in Costa today from colleague serving on the till taking orders. The colleague was very rude with bad attitude towards customers demonstrating brand damaging behaviour to Costa. He failed to advise us that the card machine and loyalty card scanner wasn't working and demonstrated rude and dismissive behaviour when questioned, there was a sign on door stating no card payments available, but most other customers in queue hadn't noticed this. This is ok, but the attitude of this colleague was terrible, and as a customer who regularly visits this business I will no longer be visiting this site and advising my extensive friends and family about this too.

Usual Costa coffee place, too many tables, and people, and noisy coffee machines so you won't hear each other speak.

Very bad service using old sitting milk to make coffee .when I ask fresh milk lady behind the counter very rude .it was worst service I had so far any costa shop

Disappointing service, impolite and then subsequently staff member put her hand inside the empty cup to pull it out of the stack and poured my drink into it. You may have washed your hands but unacceptable to serve drinks like this, shame covid procedures have not taught this staff member much. Please maintain hygiene standards.

Very poor service today. Three staff on all were rude.. seems they all have massive egos and we're rubbing each other up the wrong way as during the 20 min wait to be served they all seemed to bicker and argue with each other. Drinks were cold and they missed one drink all together. Not a good experience at all.

Hi. I came in to the Coffee shop with my wife this Sunday at 3.30pm. The staff where not very receptive just asking Eating in or out no smile. I had a query on a offer that we had recieved i was told they couldn't help Stop. I was eating in when my order came they wanted to give it to me in a plastic cup . I expect it was because most of the tables where covered in dirty trays and cups so not very pleasant to sit in. The coffee was very weak not to the normal standard it was like hot milk. we go regularly to the Costa Coffee next to the Premier Inn where we are always greeted nicely and the tables are cleared regularly. I look forward to your reply.

We often stop by and I have coffee and a sausage bat. You need to watch the heating of the bap as three times the assistant dropped a sausage and just wrapped the bap in a bag presumably hoping we would not return to complain.

served by joseph(?) who was rude and obnoxious while he took our order, making us feel very rushed despite there being no queue and really not taking long at all. he then rolled his eyes heavily and made the drinks, in which the milk was burnt and a hot chocolate that tasted more like a mocha. he did not tell us when the drinks were ready and failed to use manners or professionalism throughout any of our interaction. he had already begun being belligerent to other customers so we left

Of all the Costas I use the staff here on a Saturday are some of the friendliest and chatty I come across. They are very polite and helpful. Also coffee and cake are great.

Very slow service, it was a Saturday at 10.45am, but it took 25 minutes to get served, one person taking orders the other making the drinks, not being from the area I didn’t know where else to go but this was very disappointing. Next time I I’ll find a local coffee shop.

Nice staff and efficient service

I’ve been here twice in the last couple of weeks and have had fast and friendly service on both occasions. Tables clean with plenty of space between them. So hard to place your order when the coffee machine is on and myself and the barista are wearing masks and through the screen.. would be great if you could order from the app to table/notified to go and collect after ordering to save shouting back and forth at each other.

Some staff are polite but not all.

Great service, I had ordered through the app- on arrival busy Saturday - socialising distanced queue inside- I caught the manager as he delivered a customers coffee to the waiting area- I advised ordered via app- he said order hadn't come through, my coffee was made in minutes and I collected straight away- Great Service.. Why does costa only have limited supplies. They never seem to have enough Oat milk and always running out of hot chocolate. Service was great tho can’t blame the staff.

Slow and favoured mobile orders to in person orders

In the circumstances the staff are doing a great job and the coffee quality is excellent. In the time of lockdown this is an oasis.

We visited Costa today and while the girls behind the tills we great, friendly and efficient, social distancing clearly wasn't maintained. A customer came into the shop without a mask on and walked past us closely. A member of Costa staff walked into the shop wether just starting a shift or returning from a break and had no mask on. Not very good considering how we are all struggling with covid

Went here because we wanted some shopping as well. We had cold and hot coffees and breakfast as we were up early. The coffee was satisfactory for where we were.

We called in last Sunday for a coffee and croissant. I like mine warm with butter and jam. My husband waited for ages to be served as the service was very slow. It was busy in there but a couple of tables had been taken by people who sit with their paper and make one coffee last an hour. I picked the cleanest looking table I could but still had to wipe it with a napkin. The tables always have trays of dirty cups etc on them and always need wiping. One evening last year they had the air conditioning screen down to clean it when people were eating and drinking! The place looks tired and fatty and could use a facelift. We won’t bother going back there now.

What a terrible experience!!!! Woefully slow, 25 mins wait for two drinks. Staff more interested in chatting than serving... the only reason it was 25mins wait was because people in front of me left que. Won’t be back.

Expensive coffee, ridiculously priced cakes. To be honest you can buy a decent coffee maker and coffee beans/grounds & do a decent cup for yourself. It'll soon pay for itself at pennies for a cup rather than several pounds per cup. If you're wealthy then it won't bother you, but for the rest of us 99% my argument makes sense.

Had a lush hot chocolate, just wish people would smile a little bit more! Spread that positive energy.

I was the 2nd through the door at 7am and greeted by the most miserable member of staff who didn’t utter one word!! Sat at a dirty table with flies around the left crumbs and most tables are dirty!!! I’ve used this Costa on many many occasions.....never again!!! Turns the milk sour in my coffee!!

Costa was supposed to have had a refurbishment all the sofas are gone bar one shoved at back of shop and replaced by tables with mismatched chairs which are very uncomfortable to sit on giving an unfriendly feeling to the place ... maybe they are doing the age old American thing of making the furniture so uncomfortable that you only stay a short while? ... Who knows hey? There were even chairs lined up along one wall making Costa look like the local labour exchange ... staff indifferent unhelpful and got orders wrong ordered toast white bread not brown that we ordered ... butter was so melted that is was nothing more than oil ... had to clear the tables myself as there was nowhere to sit even asked for wet cloth and wiped down a few tables (should get discount for that) there were 4 staff on duty and shop was not busy but still no one came to clean tables and take away the empties the one that did moved at such a glacial pace that at one point we'd thought she had stopped ... can't believe how bad this place has gotten after the so called re-furb ... will not be coming back and will be telling everyone i know to avoid here at all costs

Visited yesterday around 1.45pm.Had to clear table myself outside as full of about ten cups. Went inside in the end but just as dirty. Toilets unclean and smelly. Should have walked out really but desperate for a drink. Husband said he would never go there again.

Refurbishment is cheerful. Newspapers available are appreciated.Great Costa coffee takes time to make. We definitely will return.A few staff members are working fast to ensure a quick service for those in the queue. The new manager is amazing, she works incredibly conscientiously, quick and cheerful. We suggest she nurture and grow the caring staff members. For example, the woman Barista who speaks English as a second language is amazing. She works at top speed while multi tasking, she's a team player and is always willing to help the customer and management. In this business, there is always a revolving door of staff to be expected. It's difficult to find people who are reliable and with a good business attitude.As a customer, we see one of the staff members, a young male Barista, he just stands, moves slowly and he's NOT willing to help the team nor show any interest in running the business. He often looks at his watch waiting for his shift to end.His colleague, the woman with all the arm tattoos, seems more interested in social time with him and others, she's not setting a good example.We wish the new manager great success, she is someone who sets a good example of work ethics and she deserves to have a top quality team working with her.Other reviews report dirty tables. It doesn't take much for a customer to move cups to another......we've happily done so. Perhaps management would consider hiring a person to cover the floor and dishes only. This is what Waitrose has done for a few busy shifts, in Banbury. Presently, the caring staff at Costa are doing everything to make up for the long queues and shortage of staff members. Management should not tolerate those staff members calling in sick often.Lastly, reviews report non smiling staff. This is common in Banbury and it's British. Some of the staff are so busy multi tasking to keep the queue moving, it's hard to fake a smile, especially if there is a shortage of staff or other staff members NOT pulling their weight.

Bacon roll and hp sauce was hot and fresh. Lots of back bacon not fatty and tasted great along with my iced salted caramel latte
