We had a wonderful experience at elephant and castle with Ellie as our bartender! Service was amazing and we loved the new refurb!

Great renovation. Feels more comfortable and better vibe, now offering cocktails and better drinks! The food menu has very little pescatarian of vegetarian options, more would be great! There is an unpleasant smell coming from the toilets in one corner of the bar. So be choosy where you sit ! Overall a great upgrade and renovation, I’ve lived in the area for 15yrs and have never been inclined to go for drinks at the The Elephant & Castle, however I feel this will be a new regular spot, especially as they also have a later licence !

We stopped by The Elephant and Castle last week for a couple of drinks (haven't been there for absolute years). What a great new decor, great vibes and atmosphere! We were served by Maya, she was funny and chatty and mixed a banging cocktail! Will have to come back for more soon! Thanks!

A return visit for me, first time since the refurbishment. Good to see food back on the menu. It was a busy Friday night, but the team kept smiling! Edited to add: I have some food allergies and the manager (Will) was so helpful, making sure I ate safely! Recommended!

You really can't miss this pub, with its brutalist concrete exterior! I found it warm and lively inside, with very friendly and helpful bar staff. Plenty of space too so a good place to meet friends. Edit: The pub's been freshened up and it's now red! Great burgers (and a great team) too.

Popped in on Tuesday evening ,it was 2 for 1 burgers the atmosphere was brilliant and the burgers were brilliant.

Arrived 10 minutes earlier to the start of the launch event. Talked to a bar attendent. Got our names ticked off. Was told there would be free tastings of food & free drinks, upstairs & downstairs. We're given a glass of prossecco each, as welcome drink, very nice! As upstairs was too noisy, we went downstairs & much more comfortable at the booth. The informations from different staff members were not consistent. We were told to get a ticket each for a drink by some guests. We were not given the tickets as we got in. The food didn't come downstairs. Had to go upstairs to complained. When the food came downstairs, they were just chicken & beef burger sliders, nothing else. They were few & far between. We managed to have one each. We only have one drink each from redeeming the tickets & yet we saw couple of people whom we shared the booth with, had at least 3 drinks more than us. They certainly did not buy the drinks as I can see no swipping of cards/phones nor cash used. We felt a bit hard done by. Never mind, just regard the event was not so nice an experience for us. Thanks for having us anyway. Best wishes!

A great pub for an afternoon or evening drink, and transforms into fun DJ nights at the weekend! Came back to catch some of the Six Nations! Pub's looking good.

I had an absolutely awful experience with the manager here. I enquired about renting the basement a couple of months back for my event. I wasn't told about any refurbishment that was due to be done and although I asked tye stipulations to rent the room I was told I would only need to pay £100 for a no show. There were no bar spends stipulated AT ALL. I was then told roughly around 3 weeks before my event that the place was going to be refurbished despite an agreed date and me and my business partner already putting out promo. We were at a loss bit agreed to the new date and also lost one dj because of the move. However we decided to continue. I then received an email 2 days before the event stating that a bar spend needs to be made although it was discussed at all. I didn't see the email until the day after the event as I believed everything was dealt with. The only reminder emails i received was to state the £100 for a no show. We get there a whole hour and a half before the event is to start and there were still a number of people downstairs editing and drinking although we discussed with the manager the day before that we would be there to set up from 7.30pm. When I asked him what will happen with the guests he basically didn't have an answer and expected me to keep them there although I asked for the room to be rented privately. He then left me and NY business partner to tell guests to accommodate us in using the dj area. By doing this we disrupted there meal and drinks, however they were very understanding. We then asked management where all the connections were for the setup of the music and he didn't have a clue. We had guests and djs there beforehand that also complained of the lights and music going off for at least five minutes whilst people were downstairs eating and drinking. Everytime I needed his assistance he was very nonchalant and unhelpful. I got more help from the bar staff. We set up the mixer and connected to everything by 8pm. Manager had no idea to just simply put the music on so we couldn't do soundcheck and waited until 8.55pm before the music came on. The sound quality was awful and as the manager didn't know how to moderate it the night was plauged with distorted music. We also discussed where guests would be smoking beforehand and we were told the side door was to be used. However for at least 10 minutes I had to tell the security guard that management already said it was okay. Manager promised gree drinks to all djs for the inconvenience but all were refused but two djs. At the end of the night it was pouring with rain and we asked to stay just a few minutes to order a driver as it was raining and didn't want the equipment damaged. The can was 4 minutes away and we were rudely and abruptly told to leave the premises by the same manager that seemed to be absolutely incompetent for the entire evening. I am completely disappointed in this. I work on radio and have done a number of events in various venues and have never been treated like this. He wasn't just unpleasant with myself but my guests, djs and business partner. I will never be using let alone drinking in this pub again. I had a few other promoters that were very interested in the place too, however they all saw the behavior of the manager and it put them off. He never discussed how much the bar made and as I said previously the £100 was only to be taken for a no show and he still tried to take the money from my account. The manager there is horrible, unprofessional and clearly doesn't know what he's doing. Really disappointing

They’ve just had a really unusual refurb. Everything looks almost exactly the same as it did before, but now each element looks nice, as opposed to looking completely knackered. There are also some good bits of statement lighting, and they’ve painted the horrible ceiling to make it as unnoticeable as possible. Continuing the theme, the bar staff have been upgraded to people who don’t look like they actively resent having to work in a bar. Similarly, while the toilets still look like a disaster zone overall, they’ve added some tasteful ads in frames and stripes on the walls to almost imply they look like that in a deliberate and arty way. They also no longer stink, so that’s something. Unfortunately, the opening crowd was, for some reason, overwhelmingly male. So much so, I wondered for a moment if they’d turned the place into another neighbourhood gay bar. They need to do something to get some women in IMO because the atmosphere in the main bar was actually quite shitty, if you aren’t a fan of groups of office blokes shouting banter at each other. The downstairs bar was both nicer and less testosterone heavy, with the music seemingly being provided by a Spotify playlist entitled ‘moderately edgy bar music’. Public Image ltd followed by progressive house at one point 🤷🏼‍♂️ Food offering is burgers and wings. Hopefully this place continues to do well. Previous owners Antic had pretty much run it into the ground, along with the rest of their business.

Came here last night to see what the Elephant was up to after the refurb, it looks amazing and had a really good couple of hours here. Was great to chat to the Manager Will for a bit about the plans for the place and the service I had at the bar was lovely so will be back soon

I'm surprised that I haven't reviewed this pub before. I've been coming here 2-3 times a month since it reopened, which must have been about 8 years ago. Comparatively cheap drinks, a couple of good cask beers, great atmosphere (live DJ on Friday and Saturday and good music at other times), excellent garden.

Bartenders were lovely, had a really nice chat. Super funny girls. Manager was very helpful too, thanks for the service. Will be back.

Good little pub, our group only came in for the one drink after work but ended up staying the rest of the night! DJ was great and the staff were so attentive and friendly. Will definitely be back - thank you!

A wonderful bar in the middle of Elephant and Castle, with friendly and helpful staff, low prices and good events.

The music selection could be better, the volume doesn't let you even talk to anyone. There could be more space for a dance floor if people actually dance ( again the music should be better) haven't you heard of reggaeton or pop? At some point they told us to go inside to listen to this insipidity music, I was much better outside with fresh air and my drink.

The atmosphere was very boring, they made us leave the terrace to enter a hot environment without ventilation or tables to sit at, the DJ was super boring, she never agreed to play the music we wanted, we only asked for one song and she didn't listen to us, the bad beer, tasteless and expensive drinks

Poor atmosphere and bouncers very unpleasant. Even though the group was very nice, half the group was not allowed in without a good reason. For the ones who did get in, the vibes were poor.

Came to celebrate my anniversary with my husband. LOVELY Christmas atmosphere. Vibrant and lovely staff. Smelled of mulled cider. The American was so funny—the staff overall had an amazing vibe. thank you for a great night. We will be back!

I was in a short time ,drinking something. Too could place , and the furniture is not for making you stay more. Expensive prices in a "cheap boozer " .. After all the bar stuff was nice and fast..

Cool dark spot with moody lighting and loud music blaring into the late night. Decent stop for a pint. Lots of space indoors with a big patio.

After loving this place for many years, it’s recently been taken over by new management. The bouncers decided to not allow my friends back into the venue to collect their items and man handled them when no aggression was given. Won’t be returning.

Nice beer and good location but bar staff not that great. Don’t think they even said a word to me and I bought a few rounds. First round the barlady keyed in the amount but was so disinterested she walked off without confirming so I had to reach over and click confirm on the little machine thing lol

Great pub right on the main corner of Elephant and Castle. Excellent range if beers and ales, I naturally gravitated towards the Guinness !

Going to this pub was an abysmal experience. The music is so incredibly loud that you can't even have a normal conversation when being an arms length away from the other person. If you are sitting with friend on a table? Forget about it, just go to the Spoons next door.

It is one of my favourite bars, the food is definitely better than the Wetherspoons nearby, they always have an ale on peculiar to them, "Volden", I think......genuinely hoppy (that beats the nearby Wetherspoons too)......both Voldens under £5.....heavily dependent on nearby universities' students, the drop in custom during summer is amazingly similar to Edinburgh University student pubs, which I commented on to the manageress - that 10 million more people in a town doesn't make any difference, if you're a student bar, you're a student bar, it seems.

Today I came ordered my drink and food, paid in cash. However, my food didn’t come, I went to ask for a reason, they said it’s not on the system. There’s no prove that I payed. I came to the pub for five years , I won’t lie about only a dish. Very disappointed experience. 👋🏼 bye

A pretty good pub although when we went there weren't many people. It started to fill up around 11:30pm! The beers are always the best!

Was messy but the staff were doing everything they could.

The food was better than expected, but the expectations were pretty low considering how rancid the toilets were. If we weren’t in a big group on a Saturday we would’ve tried to find somewhere else!

I used to come hear a lot especially at weekends but the crowd is not what or used to be. I prefer other local boozers. It's gone downhill. Not as many local faces as there used to be.

Bit of a mixed review here as the bar man was very friendly and the pub is nice, but, oh boy the toilets were dire. I've been in Soho pissoirs that smell less. They were quite wet inside too which meant people would be traipsing liquid into the pub. We were sat at the back of their pub and had to move tables as the stench was so strong and wafted each time anyone used the toilets. The pub had around 15 people in and it wasn't even 9pm on a Saturday so not exactly busy. Just a bit unfortunate really and something I'd not expect from a nice pub.

Never been in here before. I liked it. Was with my two kids as we really needed to sit down before getting on the tube before heading home (east London). Didn't see any other kids but no one seemed bothered by mine so felt very welcome.

Omg the toilets are disgusting!! I went into the women toilet and found sick on the floor. My friend then call me to the gents toilet to find the floor covered in piss… the smell was so awful I wanted to puke! 🤮
