Good pub in a very convenient spot! I had a lunchtime drink, but the DJ nights look fun so I'll be back. Feels like good things are happening.

This pub has really changed for the better! There's a much better atmosphere, service at the bar is more efficient, and it feels friendlier too. Had a lovely catch up with a friend here, who also commented on the improvement and the warm welcome. Keep up the good work!

After loving this place for many years, it’s recently been taken over by new management. The bouncers decided to not allow my friends back into the venue to collect their items and man handled them when no aggression was given. Won’t be returning.

Great location and reasonably priced drinks. Didn't get any food so can't comment on that. But would definitely come back.

Nice beer and good location but bar staff not that great. Don’t think they even said a word to me and I bought a few rounds. First round the barlady keyed in the amount but was so disinterested she walked off without confirming so I had to reach over and click confirm on the little machine thing lol

Great pub right on the main corner of Elephant and Castle. Excellent range if beers and ales, I naturally gravitated towards the Guinness !

Bad service and very bad lagers

Going to this pub was an abysmal experience. The music is so incredibly loud that you can't even have a normal conversation when being an arms length away from the other person. If you are sitting with friend on a table? Forget about it, just go to the Spoons next door.

It is one of my favourite bars, the food is definitely better than the Wetherspoons nearby, they always have an ale on peculiar to them, "Volden", I think......genuinely hoppy (that beats the nearby Wetherspoons too)......both Voldens under £5.....heavily dependent on nearby universities' students, the drop in custom during summer is amazingly similar to Edinburgh University student pubs, which I commented on to the manageress - that 10 million more people in a town doesn't make any difference, if you're a student bar, you're a student bar, it seems.

Today I came ordered my drink and food, paid in cash. However, my food didn’t come, I went to ask for a reason, they said it’s not on the system. There’s no prove that I payed. I came to the pub for five years , I won’t lie about only a dish. Very disappointed experience. 👋🏼 bye

A pretty good pub although when we went there weren't many people. It started to fill up around 11:30pm! The beers are always the best!

Was messy but the staff were doing everything they could.

The food was better than expected, but the expectations were pretty low considering how rancid the toilets were. If we weren’t in a big group on a Saturday we would’ve tried to find somewhere else!

I used to come hear a lot especially at weekends but the crowd is not what or used to be. I prefer other local boozers. It's gone downhill. Not as many local faces as there used to be.

Bit of a mixed review here as the bar man was very friendly and the pub is nice, but, oh boy the toilets were dire. I've been in Soho pissoirs that smell less. They were quite wet inside too which meant people would be traipsing liquid into the pub. We were sat at the back of their pub and had to move tables as the stench was so strong and wafted each time anyone used the toilets. The pub had around 15 people in and it wasn't even 9pm on a Saturday so not exactly busy. Just a bit unfortunate really and something I'd not expect from a nice pub.

Never been in here before. I liked it. Was with my two kids as we really needed to sit down before getting on the tube before heading home (east London). Didn't see any other kids but no one seemed bothered by mine so felt very welcome.

Omg the toilets are disgusting!! I went into the women toilet and found sick on the floor. My friend then call me to the gents toilet to find the floor covered in piss… the smell was so awful I wanted to puke! 🤮

Excellent pub in the heart of Elephant and Castle. The pub serves food,good selection of beers on tap and at very reasonable prices. Friendly staff. I would highly recommend this pub. The pub also shows all major sporting events. Nice outside seating area also.

Hands down one of the worst pubs I’ve visited in London. The server had the attitude of a hormonal teenager and on top of that beers were flat and glasses were dirty. The Wetherspoons next door is much better.

This place has the worst service I’ve ever experienced in London. We dropped by as we had tickets to a show nearby and needed to quickly eat before we go. We ordered and all the food did come out quick except for my burger. I went up and asked how long and they said it was not put in our order. We happily paid as I needed to eat. However, we waited another 20 mins and nothing. We can clearly see the cook in the kitchen standing there not doing anything. Not one person checked in on us or followed up. I finally went up and asked about my burger - and it was clear the cook didn’t get the ticket. They quickly made the burger and again no apology. This is where it got worse - the waitress who brought our burger rudely handed our food to us and said “sorry it took 10 mins to cook your food”. I was in shock and of course got angry but couldn’t believe this is the standard of service this place has. It’s a shame because the food was decent (over priced) but never going back again.

The place is very cool. Packed by youngsters. Good music. Excellent vibes at reasonable prices. A bit noisy. The staff could be more friendly and they should learn to smile whatever their feelings are. They dont really know what hospitality means.

The worst pub in all of London, they don't know who the group the police and the beatles are, they should change the DJ, it's already unfortunate, I don't recommend this place to anyone, it's a mistake like a world to go there.

Good atmosphere and service but let down I suppose as per other reviews toilets from the 1980s. Seating is also a bit dated and uncomfortable. I would have stayed longer if it wasn't for those issues, I'm sure they already know this and I know these things cost money.

There’s a nice, relaxed atmosphere when it gets dark and the staff bring out candles for the tables, but it is completely overshadowed by the awful smell of the toilets. This needs to be changed immediately, the smell was completely overpowering as soon as you come in

I hired out the downstairs area for my 21st birthday for 20 guests, and we had such an amazing experience! The manager, Alex, was very easy to communicate with and ensured that we could plan the perfect night. At the venue, Kyle was so helpful in getting set up, from sorting out the music to explaining how the venue works. It was clear that my best interests were at the heart of the evening. At 11pm the downstairs area was opened up to the public. This created such a fun environment, and it was so lovely to see everyone have such an enjoyable time together (and enjoy my music haha!). Great atmosphere and great fun. Thank you to the entire team for making my birthday so very special!

Male toilets were disgusting there was a very bad smell around where we were seated. Mediocre plase, nothing too special but the security were friendly, made us feel welcome and had good sense of humour and thus im giving this place 5 stars.

We had a lovely time while visiting this pub on Saturday. The SECURITY on the door was the highlight of our night, WE FELT VERY SAFE PROFESSIONAL !! Nicest security ever !!

Pint stolen by some random fella coming off the street! Wasn’t angling for a free replacement and it certainly wasn’t forthcoming! Manager and stuff aren’t proper pub people. Nice spacious interior though.

Well run bar with eclectic customers, good beer and food. Great views of the goings on around the Elephant and Castle. Garden space at the side for warm days.

Good value for a Sunday roast, perfect for a hangover. Although the toilets are rank.

Popped in on a rainy Wednesday. Sadly the vegan burger was sold out, but the vegan quesadilla was a great alternative. Really well made, tasty, and arrived fast. Quick and friendly service, though would have been good if they had delivered my food at the same time as my friend. The quesadilla came 10 mins before the burger, so we ate at different times. Probably because the quesadilla was listed as a starter - however it was a replacement for a main, so would have made sense to come at the same time. The decor is quirky and well loved, giving it a warm and friendly feel. I did find the acoustics in the space quite challenging - it being a wide open space - and it was loud and busy. Also a lot of people seemed to be taking up room for slow drinking and not leaving much room for people who wanted to eat food. But overall, I liked the place and would go back.

£12 for 8 chicken wings and when I complained the “large portion” was pathetic was given a disdainful look. It’s just poor value.

Below is my review from seven years ago. Here' an update. I come here about twice a month, because it's local, but also because it's a great place. It's always lively, it has good beer and it's very cheap for the area, especially their Volden session pale ale. It has a good garden at the side and also plenty of tables on the pavement at the front. The food is also good. From 7 years ago: Recently reopened after being saved from becoming the worst sort of estate agent. Good selection of beers. The food looks good, although I haven't tried it, and they sometimes have a barbecue in the garden. The garden is really good.

The establishment is dirty. Staff are all on their phones. It seems like a dive bar. Sorry.

Pubs alright but the bogs are like the ones from Trainspotting.

A good pub to meet friends for drinks or a bite to eat. Service is occasionally a little slow. Friendly enough though! Edited to add: much quicker service on my return visit! Good to see.

Hired out the private area downstairs and had the best experience. Kyle and Alex were super helpful, very accommodating and very supportive. The prices are so reasonable especially being in London, didn’t grab a chance to eat however my guests had some and really liked it. Would definitely recommend and I will definitely consider hiring the space again.

I had fish and chips. Really nice. My friend tried the vegetarian burger. Nice beer and nice atmosphere. The bathroom’s hygiene was quite problematic. Overall I had a very good time there.

Had a good time on Saturday night with my gangs here. Nice crowd, loved the music. DJ was cute, has sexy accent. Danced all night, really enjoyed it.

Pretty cool place, have been there a couple of times and always liked it. I have not tried their food yet though so I can't tell how tasty it is :)
