Caffe Nero in Worthing

Coffee nice but interior decoration and cleanliness of premises is poor.

Only had tea and cake, but scrummy cake.

Great coffee. They sell vouchers but ran out the week before Christmas.

Very disappointing visit. Waited at the counter for 25 minutes just for 2 cups of coffee to be served,whilst only ONE customer was waiting to be served before me. 🤔. female staff member on duty," slow as a snail," and miserable with it! The female staff member made no effort to greet or make any effort to interact with customer(s). No asset whatsoever to Café Nero . The place looked unkempt, and all used crockery piled on many tables from previous customers. Short of staff no doubt will be the reason. Will not return there......until I hear of better standards and professional staff employed there.

They need a couple more members of staff, to ensure the tables are kept clean and the queue doesn't get too long. Poor customer service for the high prices charged. The place simply isn't cleaned enough and the chairs are uncomfortable and tatty.

I popped to the worthing cafe Nero this afternoon with my partner and again was greeted with hardly any downstairs seating due to the same group of asian men that im sure live there had taken up the same seats in the corner to the left of the door. The service that I received was quick, however despite having quite a few members of staff on shift tables were not being cleared and the place looked cluttered. I ordered two flat whites which are usually just right but this time they weren't great, No attempt at a pattern in fact no attempt of any finesse just scruffy blobs of frothy cappuccino milk. Worthing is littered with coffee shops and the competition of standards are high, If the poor attempt of a coffee that i received continues then a dip in sales would be a surprise. definitely coffee training needed.

As expected , tables a bit grubby, food mediocre and overpriced. Normal for chain coffee bars in the UK.

The people working there are charming, and the service is good, but the toilet was rubbish, and there wasn't a toilet roll

I always like to go to Cafe Nero but they should have more gluten-free options for their food especially with their sandwiches and cakes, but I do like the atmosphere there.

Place needs a good clean. Especially the toilets.

The staff are very good but I have to say the downstairs toilet in this shop is appalling and very dirty. Also the toilet cleaning rota had not been done for 3 days. Needs improvement please

once the best on the high street !! Unfortunately standards dropped. The Worthing store is tired and run down. Huge staff turnover and no continuity and hence poor service . Recruitment terrible employing staff with no social skills or interest. In particular one girl is consistently rude has complete attitude problems and sometimes not even in cafe Nero outfit. This morning was the final straw for me and after 30 years of drinking in cafe Nero prominately in London , I will no longer visit the Worthing store. The manager is very good and the men , but she is let down in particular the girl with the red hair !!! And I’m not the only one to have complained about her !!

Like most coffee shops, nice but seriously overpriced. Why do I have to get such a big drink even when I order "small". What happened to REAL coffee cups?

Great place for a coffee or any other hot drink. Great staff. Good selection of cakes.

Amazing staff behind the counter but obviously overwhelmed. There was no one to clean up the tables as one of them was taking orders and the other was making coffee and whatever else was ordered. As soon as possible the female staff was coming out and put the place in order in no time with a smile on their face. They are hiring, probably trying but may need to try harder....

So funny to see the circle of baristas, lovely place to relax.

I like the retro charm of this place. Doesn't seem to attract youngsters at all. My macchiato was good, but the wife's mocha was unbearably sweet, and had to be replaced. Went again recently - they are handling the pandemic restrictions efficiently. I chose to eat and drink at their external seating. Still lovely potent macchiato and wonderful cake! Recommended. Went again recently. Not such a good experience. The wife's double-shot cappuccino didn't even taste like coffee! Plus the place does now seem to be attracting a less-savoury class of clientele 🙁 However, my macchiato (made with Guatemalan beans) was perfection! Update 17th June 2022 Actually we're lucky in Worthing to have a place where you can be certain of getting a high-quality coffee, each visit. (In most coffee outlets there is no such certainty!) Today I had macchiato (made with Peruvian beans) and a slice of cake. All truly delicious, and the service was friendly! Update 28th June 2023 Caffe Nero now consistently serves you with filthy dirty cutlery. I have uploaded a picture. I'm not going there again.

Great relaxing place to get a coffee in town. Loads of space for everyone.

I keep returning because the coffee is consistently good BUT this caffè is always dirty and i am not sure that hygiene levels are upheld. The staff are super friendly but I think there is a lack of management ensuring that essentially jobs like keeping the toilet clean and clearing tables are done in a timely manner.n

Often visit Nero's as dog friendly. This place could desperately do with a refit as looking very tired, especially upstairs and toilets. Both toilets look very grubby and stained. Ladies hand dryer is no better than a gentle breeze on a spring morning!!!! Upstairs is a large airy space with a few small tables n chairs. It could be made so nice! Also no sweeteners in dispenser, and although they did find a couple of sachets eventually for my diabetic partner, I felt awkward.

Not the best visit. My hot chocolate was not that hot and the chocolate powder was sitting at the bottom and not mixed in. The atmosphere was good but hard to hear my friend sitting next to me.

My favourite chain coffee shop.

They let dogs in, for which we are always very grateful! Long walks daily with a dog so we are frequently in bed of a drink and a snack - like many dog owners I expect. Well done. So few businesses do

Been coming here for years. Today a member of staff was rude. Not only that but incompetent as well. Reason being was because lemon muffins were put in the blueberry muffins row. Because I suggested they put them in the correct place I was told not to be rude. Service down to a slow crawl otherwise.

Love coffee although cream and syrup all over the cup - sloppy preparation! Service was quick and friendly, cakes were very nice! Had a chocolate chronut! Really good and not too sweet! Nice place to sit and watch the world go by.

Love that I can gave a savoury croissant at ai fair price. Don't want cake or something more substantial.

Do not order from this shop online! Members of my family have SEVERE milk allergies and we ordered some OAT milk hot chocolates only to be delivered cows milk. It is lucky I checked them because they will have a court case on their hands if they had been consumed. All food delivered within the order looked like it was thrown together by someone with their eyes closed Ridiculous and dangerous service!

Always busy. Don't always clean tables. Open door kitchen gives the impression of "messy". Baristes efficient and generally friendly.

Really bad service tables not being cleared I sat for 25mins before somone cleared the dirty cups away from the other customers tables.in this shop I saw no cleaning at all so disappointed.

Flat white had more froth than milk. Made it difficult to drink. And I only drink flat white. This was a treat wasted for me.

Fruit flies everywhere, on the cakes and pastries and flying around the shop, it was a mess and the drinks not tasting good, would give 0 stars if I could

One of the better Nero's I have visited nationally. Staff were rapid and drinks were great but still took the time to have a friendly, engaging conversation. Would visit again.

I've always liked their coffee and staffs are friendly, but the last few years seems like the quality of how its drinks are made has gone down. The hot chocolate used to be really nice but now, it taste like ready made chocolate. Coffee wise it almost still the same. Service is a little slow. **I used to work for the company years ago, the way I was trained compared to now is a lot different. (I was a maestro as well).

Excellent customer service! Very friendly, helpful and clean, pleasant place to rest, drink and eat. If you like to watch the world go by as you sit then this is perfect with huge windows all round. Located in a shady spot at the beginning of the arcade so too much sun should not be an issue. A nice selection of seating, drinks, warm food and cakes. Pricing as you would expect from this type of coffee shop. Only lost a star because the shared loo was a little wiffy but clean and no reason to avoid. Also should cater for wheelchairs as large. Will visit again. I want to try the chicken lattice with homemade coleslaw this time!

Lots of space! There's an outdoor area that is partially covered so still can be used in the rain. Some space on the ground floor and much more on the first floor (that is where the picture is from). There are quite a few sofas which is an added bonus. Coffee was lush! Cons: there is only 1 toilet men and one for woman and they are VERY small! I couldn't see a disabled toilet either. COVID: lots of hand sanitizer available and the place looked very clean.

Little bit classier than costa!!! the guy on a Sunday morning is a bit of a Grumps On the whole staff are ok though and coffee is better than costa though I do wish the large coffees were costa size but that's not a deal breaker

What fabulous customer service and of course coffee. My husband I came for a day visit and I cut my finger on the latch of the public loo on the beach trying to get the door open, we tied it up with a tissue to stop the bleeding and went in search of a coffee and sandwich . Lucy the lady serving immediately noticed my finger and asked if I was okay, she went off in search of the first aid box and let me take a plaster to replace my tissue. Totally unexpected but so welcome as I feel so much more comfortable now. Thank you Lucy and cafe Nero excellent customer service and the coffee and sandwich were excellent too.

No proper cups. Only paper cups with compulsory plastic lid, neither recyclable. Nice hot drinks and plenty of room

Further to my October review I risked my health & made a visit today & NOTHING has changed regarding the clearing & sanitisation of tables. On the ground floor two tables had residual food packaging & empty drinks carton on them left from previous customers. On the first floor I witnessed a couple with two babies vacating a sofa area leaving the residue of their visit. 20 minutes later the area had not been cleared & cleaned & a new customer had to remove the items before taking a seat. At the same time another table occupied by a couple was left with two empty drink cartons & a newspaper & again whilst I was occupying what seemed to be the only clean table the table had still not been cleaned. I repeat that upon my visits (now suspended for safety reasons) I have NEVER EVER seen a table being cleaned & sanitised. Often up to 4 staff serving & enjoying joshing amongst themselves & with customers but doing any cleaning? - no way.When 2 different people took my order to eat/drink in neither asked for my contact details & once when I ordered a drink & food to take-away but changed my mind & took a seat nobody challenged me for my contact details.Trying to advise the local council health & safety department has proved fruitless there is no obvious route via their websites.If you value your health & that of others avoid this branch of a company already rumoured to be in difficulties.

It's probably ok, but I have never been there.

Alcohol dispensers & distance/mask signage but never seen tables being cleaned after use which is why I only ever visit at opening time when all IS clean. I leave as soon as gets busy.Toilets a disgrace. Staff charming & food & drink as per usual acceptable Caffe Nero standard.
