This place is a hidden gem. Good old proper pub/ restaurant. Owners so very friendly , the food amazing. All meat and vegetables are locally sourced.we both had the stake and ale pie which was amazing, the meat was so tender and homemade pastry top class, this came with a dish of veg, consisting of broccoli cauliflower carrots and leeks, all cooked perfectly. It was served with a choice of new potatoes or home made chips, and was also presented with a big jug of homemade gravy.
The service was perfect ,genuine kind lovely people. Beautiful village between Northampton and Newport Pagnell.
Also dropped by last year for a Sunday dinner which was also fab.
So nice to be able to gout out for such fresh wholesome food.
We will be back
First time ordering from Jade Garden and certainly won’t be the last. Tastiest Chinese takeaway I’ve had in along time. Ordered online and was ready 15 minutes later for collection. Looking forward to ordering again soon 😋
It is said that war is long periods of boredom punctuated by moments of sheer terror. In this regard Hi Lo Jamaican Eating House is similar to war. But as Sun Tzu writes in the Art of War, "be where your enemy is not". At 11pm on a Friday night my enemy was certainly not there, and neither was anyone else.
I was very excited to go to Hi Lo Jamaican Eating House due to the reviews posted here. They range from 1 to 5 stars but are almost entirely concentrated on those two ends. 5 star reviews will tell you it is a life changing experience where you will make friends for life and be entertained by the rambunctious proprietor. 1 star reviews warn of abuse, terrible service, and the rambunctious proprietor. On TripAdvisor several reviews flag a serious safety concern.
Unfortunately on my visit I experienced none of this. Just a profoundly boring evening in a strange bar with a dead and hostile atmosphere, drinking room temperature bottled Guinness foreign export.
In this regard it has failed even to fail me correctly as the 1 star reviews told me it would.
Other reviews mention food but when asked they apparently don't do it anymore.
The bar is silent unless you pay money in the jukebox, which paired with its emptiness just makes it kind of creepy.
Lovely treat. The food is full of flavour, so tasty. We got the B for 2 people and mixed starter. The staff are very friendly and the Peking has beautiful Chinese ornaments and decorations. Will definitely be ordering from there again. Thank you 🙏🏻😊
Nice big portions. Taste is good as well but I was surprised to learn that they didn’t make chilli oil. Very unusual for a Chinese takeaway for not having such basic item.
I started being a customer here tonight for the first time and the people who work her and the dellivery drivers are very friendly encluding the service spot on deffo coming here again,
and food amazing xxxx
Ordered a takeaway. Delivered quick but that’s where positives stop, squid very chewy, magic wok special rice (all the meats) came with one bit of chicken, one tiny bit of pork and one tiny bit of beef and some onions/mangetout dumped on top plain fried rice, not exactly special nor was the two hairs found in the rice. Ended up throwing majority away. Waste of money
The Tasty provides a reliable service, allergy aware, with food as good as any other in the area. Have been eating from here for years. They have a 5/5 hygiene rating. 😀
I came here about a year ago and posted a negative comment well I have been back numerous times and it's super it must have been one of those days for the barista who I have not seen since. Ham and cheese croissant and carrot cake are both gorgeous.
