This place is a hidden gem. Good old proper pub/ restaurant. Owners so very friendly , the food amazing. All meat and vegetables are locally sourced.we both had the stake and ale pie which was amazing, the meat was so tender and homemade pastry top class, this came with a dish of veg, consisting of broccoli cauliflower carrots and leeks, all cooked perfectly. It was served with a choice of new potatoes or home made chips, and was also presented with a big jug of homemade gravy. The service was perfect ,genuine kind lovely people. Beautiful village between Northampton and Newport Pagnell. Also dropped by last year for a Sunday dinner which was also fab. So nice to be able to gout out for such fresh wholesome food. We will be back

Went to this pub for dinner and a couple of beers after a journey down from Scotland. It is the only pub in Stoke Goldington and did have a good rating on any review site we visited. We maybe just caught it on a bad night, but there was no hot food on offer. We were offered a sharing platter which consisted of cold meats, pate, tuna, prawns, cheese and some other bits and pieces. For what was essentially a mix of shop bought bits and pieces, with absolutely no cooking involved,it did take quite a while to arrive, and seemed to be overpriced for what it was,£22. The beer was decent enough though.

Hard to choose what's best about this pub, whether it's the way Steve keeps the beer or the way Rachel makes the pies. Incidentally we have been walking over the fields to the Lamb for nearly 40 years and as my parents would say manners cost nothing, We always take off our muddy boots, see photo below taken on boxing day 2013. We are always warmly welcomed as we enter the Lamb without muddy boots.

Rachel made us feel very welcome and all covid protocols followed which made us feel safe. If you visit you really won’t be disappointed. My wife and I stopped off at the Lamb after walking our dogs at Salcey Forest. The landlady was incredibly welcoming to us & our dogs and managed to squeeze in our lunch order. We both ordered pie, one steak, Guinness & Stilton the other ham and mushroom. The food was generous, wholesome and really tasty. Clearly homemade and plenty of it. The pub was spotlessly clean, but Its decor is a little confusing and didn’t really have a style, but in a time when many pubs all look and feel the same, the lamb had a sense of uniqueness which adds to its charm. There’s no bells and whistles here, what you see is what you get, a friendly, good value pub.

We came to The Lamb for a birthday meal and chose from the Christmas menu. It was a filthy night but the pub was snug and welcoming. Due to the weather and the early hour (6pm) we were the only diners but there was plenty going on in the bar. A very quiet 'local' in a pretty village, I ate here on a weekday evening recently. Having checked out The Lamb's website and their sample menu, I looked forward to the meal. However I was disappointed with the actual menu which was just a little blackboard, in particular the lack of steak when there was both a rib eye and a fillet steak on their sample menu. In the end I had a fairly average piece of gammon with some plain veg ... adequate but not inspiring. They did seem fairly gluten aware and my meal was gluten free as I requested. I might pop in again for a drink, however I doubt I'd choose to eat there again when there are better restaurants a short drive away in Newport Pagnell for example.

This is the second time we have eaten at The Lamb. It is now Stoke Goldington’s only pub and it fulfils this rôle well with good ales and typical, if mostly unexciting, ‘pub grub’ at reasonable prices. It does not try to be something it isn’t. We booked for a meal with friends because we’d heard good things, but it was disappointing:(1) The menu is on a chalk board on the wall. It doesn’t say what any of the main courses are served with. Then there were other dishes on offer that weren’t on the board. It was all a bit confusing.(2) I chose from the board only for someone to come out from the kitchen some time later to say that that particular dish had all gone. How hard is it to update a chalk board?!(3) The fish was a piece of cooked fish in a dish and that was it. There was no sauce, garnish or even a wedgeof lemon. We asked for sauce and were given what tasted like melted Flora with something green floating in it. The chips looked undercooked.(4) We asked for a jug of water and the waitress said she couldn’t provide any drinks as she’s underage. I understand this means she’s unable to go behind the bar, but surely she could ask for water at the bar.(5) When our friends arrived, they ordered drinks at the bar then came over to the table to greet us. This meant their drinks were sitting on the bar for a few minutes. A member of staff then said ‘Stab in the dark… you haven’t been here before’ before bringing the drinks over to the table. I thought it was rude and I felt embarrassed. It only served to confirm my suspicions that it’s a pub for locals, and if you’re not a local…(6) It was a Friday evening and for most of the meal we were the only people in the restaurant, so there was no ambience. I was surprised it was so quiet on a Friday.Overall, we wouldn’t return as there are other pubs in the area where the food and service are better.

I had heard good things about this pub, sadly our expectations were not met. There is no doubting that there is a good selection of beers which was appealing. The food is standard pub food - not great, but not bad - what you would expect from a pub in a small village. However, the cleanliness of the pub is lacking. The table that we sat at was dirty and incredibly sticky. There was also a serious fly issue in the pub at the time - above our heads were at least 30 flies running around the ceiling and sadly, trying to help themselves to our food. The kitchen door was open, so there was nothing stopping the flies from entering the kitchen.I do appreciate it was warm so flies probably came in through windows/doors etc - however having so many flies all over the ceiling, and the table/food etc, is not a nice experience. The review would have been 3* as its an average pub , but reduced to 2* due to the fly/cleanliness issue

There are an enormous number of pubs around the South Northamptonshire / North Buckinghamshire area that attempt the whole 'gastro pub' thing, and usually end up disappointing us because they're not great value for money, and they have a total absence of attention to detail - ideas above their station, in other words. The Lamb at Stoke Goldington has no such pretensions. It's a pub that does food - simply, without fuss, but with a great deal of care and attention.* Pies. Brilliant Pies. Usually a couple of different pies.* Fresh vegetables. Without added salt, butter or faff. Thank you!* Terrific ales - not necessarily the brands you see everywhere else.* Great desserts - although I'm usually full by the time I've had pie, chips & veg!* A lovely team - I don't know the chef but there's some real talent there.* Entirely fair pricing.* Did I mention the pies?We come here a good few times a year, and it's such a relief when everyone else is trying to run before they can walk - love this place. Can you do the chicken leak & ham pie a bit more often though? Haven't been offered that option for a while!

I visited here with a friend after reading so many positive reviews on TripAdvisor.I quickly noticed the very 'local' feeling to the place, which perhaps could feel a little intimidating, but I do quite like the cosy homely feeling of a local pub.We sat in the restaurant part, and were the only people in there the whole visit. We both ordered Ham, egg and chips, and I must say the ham was really lovely. The chips tasted like proper chip shop chips which I loved! The only negative I would say, was that the egg and ham came on the bowl/plate and the chips came on a dish for me and my friend to share. This wasn't ideal, as there weren't really enough to share - I don't know why they wouldn't just put it on one plate? For £9.50 each I would expect a fair portion of chips on my own plate..We had pudding, and had a artic roll and also the brownie - both were delicious - worth having one!Overall, friendly, nice food, the location is a little out in the sticks - no phone or internet signal at all - they do have WIFI which worked fine. The place inside is very homely - nice and cosy but could do with a bit of sprucing up to get some custom from non-locals I think. The lady behind the bar was lovely - nice and relaxed visit, which is part of the overall enjoyment :)

Have been meeting some women friends here for lunch for the last couple of years. We like it because one of us has a dog. We can take him in the bar to eat with us. He really approves of the chips. They really are proper chips not oven chips which makes a change.Yesterday Friday, we met as usual at 12.30 for lunch. Two of us ordered sea bass and two the asparagus with poached egg salad. It seemed to take forever to come. Finally it arrived. No poached eggs on the salad so had to go back. One sea bass came with new potatoes and vegetables as ordered. Looked good. The other sea bass came with salad but no chips as ordered so had to wait for those and by the time they came bass was cold. The owner who is very friendly, apologised and said we could order sweets or whatever, we ordered coffees which came with chocolates.I'm not sure what was going wrong, to get 3 out of 4 orders wrong isn't good. We felt the price was too was high for what eventually came. A very small poached egg on the salads. They were £9 each. Lettuce, tomato cucumber, a few new potatoes, asparagus and egg. Total cost, no more than £2.Sea bass was just pan fried, nice but no attempt to make it a bit special, I do the same thing with a wine sauce, lemon and capers. It just adds that extra bite. £10 for this is not cheap. Will we go back, probably, just hope they were having an off day.

Heard great things about this pub but was shocked at the poor staff and the misleading "home cooked" food slogan on there advertising board - nothing home cooked about aunt Bessie roast potatoes and Yorkshire puddings! Really average food. There was a mix up with our meals and we had been delivered another tables roasts but before they realised we had already seasoned with salt and pepper but they still took them away and sent to the original table??? Very poor.

Having recently moved to the village of Stoke Goldington the lamb has been a source of great pleasure. The couple who run it are warm and welcoming, the locals are friendly and it's a great place for a pint or dinner.A properly run local pub, everyone is made to feel equally welcome.Oh....and the roast dinners are a real treat for the weekend. We go all the time and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future.

We've been here for a meal twice now, first time was just before Christmas (nothing Christmassy to be seen) and it was disastrous, almost an hour for food to arrive and then it wasn't that great....the fillet steak had amazing flavour (we had to change orders as they had sold out of sirloin...a recurring theme here, bear with me) but it wasn't cooked at all well, bit like your granny does when she warms things under the grill and it goes soggy! It's not like us to try anywhere again after such a meal but due to personal recommendations and also the reviews we decided to give it another go this time for Sunday Lunch...last Sunday - choices of lamb, chicken with stuffing, beef or pork. Yum we thought, no, they said: sold out of chicken and lamb...but it's 12.30 we said!! Suffice to say that we ended up with the beef and the pork and to be fair both were very tasty with plenty of veg and lots of gravy. We had our eye on the dessert menu but didn't want to risk being told that our choices were sold out so we gave them a miss. My husband loves the beer here and I love the atmosphere and as we are locals I imagine we will go back...just not for a while.

Just brilliant. Not fancy but great service and fabulous food. Some one made a comment on one of the reviews saing there are better places to eat in MK... WELL if you want to pay double the price for half the amount and have problems parking then feel free to dine in MK... The Lamb is like stepping back in time the way good food used to taste and so welcoming even though they were rushed off their feet nothing was too much trouble and so apologetic when they ran out of ribeye steak though the fillet was fab,,,,just don't wait for the menu its on the wall,,,,how cool is that,,,oh and ladies, a trip to the bathroom is a must, perfume hand creams and spotlessly clean,,ahhhh really lovelyWe can't wait to try the Sunday lunch,,,Thank you for a memorable Saturday evening Jo & Dave,,,, Weston Underwood

We had an very enjoyable evening at the Lamb last weekend. The food standard was exceptionally high and the portion sizes huge. The rack of lamb was amazing. The staff were all friendly and welcoming and himself assures me the beer is well kept. Well done to Rachel, Steve and the rest of the team.

We visited The Lamb on a Friday evening as a family of 5 wanting to show our son's Chinese girlfriend a classic English pub and classic food. We were not disappointed as good beer and good choice of ale pie and other staple quality pub food. Quiet and relaxed restaurant area, helpful staff, overall a very pleasant evening.

A little gem of a pub in village. Friendly staff made us feel really welcome. Fantastic, flavoursome, home cooked food. It was nice to eat great food and relax without feeling the need to go like you get at some chain restaurants. They were very accommodating for children with portion sizes and pricing. Free Wifi. We will definitely be returning to sample the rest of the menu......

Old school style, sticky carpets and standard pub grub - not worthy of the top spot when there are so many other amazing pubs in MK! Lovely staff though.

We were lucky enough to win a Sunday lunch for 2 with a bottle of wine in a raffle. So earlier in the week I booked a table and added our children onto the booking, it was all very easy and the staff polite and friendly. Then we arrived and were shown our table by friendly bar staff. They then proceeded to make us feel throughly spoilt. We don't really get out much, but we will definitely make an effort to come here again! The food was delicious and very well proportioned, there's a fab selection of real ales and the wine is good. The staff are wonderful and we felt very welcome.

We ate here last night with two friends who live locally and know the pub well. The Lamb Inn is a very straight forward, down to earth locals' pub with excellent beers, one of which is called 'Death and Glory'. This is a very strong beer and very nice to drink and I am told that the lamb is the only pub in the country to have it on all the time. If you pass this way you should try it.Beers and wines are very fairly priced (New Zealand White for £14), as is the food which I could only really describe as 'home cooked.' That term has been used by many in the reviews here and it describes the food very accurately. The Lamb Inn is not a restaurant and does not pretend to be one. It is a very down to earth friendly pub that does food.Dishes are all straight forward and well priced. There are a number of choices of pie including Chicken & Bacon and Beef and Ale. The pie pastry is short crust and seems to vary in thickness as the top on my chicken pie was far thicker than that on the Beef and Ale pie and denser than it need be. The accompanying chips are hand cut and fried like my Mum used to do them. I'd prefer to score the food as Good rather than very good but the system doesn't allow me to do that and the food is certainly better than the 'Average' category. It is well worth a visit but don't expect gourmet food. This is really what more pubs should be doing rather than the Chill Chain approach.

Food here is just great, amazing Prawn Coctail, absolutely beautiful fresh Fish & Chips ( my favourite ! ) Highly recommend Sunday Carvery, beautiful food, fresh, hot, and very reasonably priced. ALL the staff are friendly and cheery, you will be greeted by the amazing team: Brian the Manager, ....the ladies Chen, Emma, Vicky, Suzanne to name a few, and the boys Lewis and Aiden on floor duties .....always smiling/singing and welcoming ! Music is pleasant and not loud. Highly recommend family restaurant beside a stunning Lake, with 3 hour free parking ! Enjoy....I know you will 😃

Been to this Costa a few times and usually staff are very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately today (24/11/24) whoever the dark haired girl with an Eastern European type accent was, who was making the coffees around 12pm, completely spoiled our visit. Not only did she get our order wrong, she was rude, dismissive and was heard snapping at her colleagues and complaining that she’d ‘not had any sleep and was not in the mood’. The other workers appeared to be treading on eggshells around her. I hope the manager sees this and has a word with her. To the poor girl on the till taking orders - you did a great job despite almost losing your head when you were trying to work as a team and make sure our order was right.
