Booked to go to house for my friend’s birthday on new year’s eve. Ended the night horribly as the female bouncer attacked me over an issue where my friend had lost her earring and they would not let her back in to look for it. Unprovoked aggression including pushing me and grabbing me by the neck. I have video evidence of her pushing me, and threatening to ‘knock me out’ for standing outside the venue. Horrible lady who clearly gets a kick out of causing harm to drunk vulnerable young women. Even one of the other bouncers agreed that she was horrible. I have attached a photo of her and will be filing a complaint directly. Security are meant to make you feel safe and protect you, not assault you! Disgusting.
We just moved locally and decided to try out the Jug and Bottle for a change. We were really impressed, the food was divine and our waiter Euan was so friendly and polite. We immediately booked for a family occasion, when we had relatives visiting from Swansea. This time our experience was the opposite end of the scale. Our waitress was so rude- didn't get her name, short dark hair- the minute we sat down (on time) she asked where the rest of our party were, I said they were on their way and wouldn't be long. She then asked how long they would be, I said I don't know. She said again well will they be long because we need the table back. We had literally just sat down on time for our booking. I again said I don't know, I could try calling them. She stayed stood by the table waiting for me to call them, then asked if I could order for them. I was annoyed at this point- our booking was for 1pm and it wasn't even 10 past by this point, but I'd been asked repeatedly where the other 2 where, if I could call them and what they wanted to eat. I'm afraid I was very abrupt at this point and said I don't know what to tell you because the whole situation was ridiculous. The last 2 of our party of 6 arrived then and we ordered straight away because we didn't dare let them peruse the menu!
After our previous lovely meals, this one was a let down. The roast potatoes were awful and it just wasn't to the same standard. We haven't been back since, taking our custom to the Devon Doorway, The Manor and the Fox and Hounds instead.
Called in based on reviews and was blown away by the flavours and freshness of the perfectly cooked food.
Pannang curry and seafood dish on chefs specialties dishes.
Delicious and a comfortable atmosphere.
4 beers, 2 meals and sides with 2 rice £78. Well worth a visit if you’re in St Helens!

Have been eating here for years but lately it appears to have gone down hill.
Portions have got smaller.
Ordered a Large fish and chips this week which i thought myself and mother in law could share, when we got home and opened the paper we was shocked to see how small the fish was and it wasnt enough for one of us let alone two!!!
Sadly thats the last time any of our family will eat from there. Time to find a new chippy!
We came here as a family of 6 for belated birthday tea for my mum, and our expectations were exceeded! I came here a few years ago and was blown away by the food, and finally got round to bringing the family along as well. Booked a table few days prior, text confirmation, and staff were very friendly and welcoming on arrival. We opted for the banquets rather than individual dishes, and we felt that there was plenty of food - so much so we were able to take some home. Staff were very attentive, always asking if we wanted more drinks and also cleaning the table inbetween courses which was appreciated. The food was divine! the starter plates consisted of ribs, seaweed, beef dumplings, prawn toast and spring rolls. This was served with small bowls of sweet chilli sauce and sweet and sour sauce, more was brought out when requested. Duck to follow, crispy and flavourful. We had an array of main dishes, the sweet and sour prawns were delicious, as was the spicy chicken. We felt it was incredible value for money, and there was enough food to feed a village (hence why we have had it for lunch today!). I can’t recommend this restaurant enough, a true gem in the heart of eccles. Thankyou for such a special night!
The burger was good, like a dressed up home made burger. The wonderfully presented, not the best and for sure not the worst. Portions are very American. (Aka large)
The American diner vibe is fine but the seats desperately need to be replaced, peeling and falling apart. which is why I gave that portion 2 stars. Worth a stop if you are in the area , but I wouldn’t go out of my way.
This is the best Indian restaurant I’ve ever been to in my life, I’ve been coming here from a young age with my family and I cannot bear the thought of going anywhere else for Indian food.
The service is impeccable, the staff really take the time to get to know you and are always so kind. They go above and beyond to make sure every visit is as enjoyable as it can be and they just get better and better each time you go. You don’t get service like this anymore so it is very refreshing to experience this!
Not one time have I or my family had any issues with the food, it is always top tier! My visits now are usually just with my boyfriend and we do get the same food every time (pictures included - I get the chicken tikka biriyani and he gets the balti lahori gosht). Both his and my family visit Blue Nile and we all love it so much!
I could honestly go on and on about this restaurant as it truly is my favourite place to go (my favourite time to visit being Valentine’s Day). I would like to say a massive thank you to all the Blue Nile staff for always making such a comfortable and fun environment every time we visit, you guys are the best and your food is to die for!!!
I was served the worst lamb chops I have ever eaten. Cheap thin off-cuts which had been precooked in a water bath and the chef had forgotten to even put them on the griddle! For a main that cost £22 the quality was appaling. Also the service was really poor and it was clear nobody cared at all about the job they were doing in this branch of the Yara chain.
Avoid going here as it overpriced, poor quality and served by staff that couldn't care less.
Issues with my booking dates. I called & emailed the hotel multiple times with no answer. Eventually I got in contact with the reception, who was incredible rude as I explained the situation and then put the phone down on me abruptly, leaving the issue unresolved.
