I don’t know how you did it I have travelled around. A lot of places but this donner meat we just got as a side has truly changed how we ever try donner meat again. It was perfect I can’t describe the words for better than perfect but it was truly something else open a kebab shop 😂😂😂 will order again

I've been looking for a halal fish and chip shop for years! This was worth the wait, delicious, fresh, hot. Just amazing. Real chippy chips. I had a pie which was lovely and tasty, full of meat. My husband had cod. It was fresh, no oil, crispy. 100% would recommend and we can't wait to visit again.

I used to order from you all the time for my parents as your fish n chips are usually excellent quality but last time the chips where stale as though they have been reheated or cooked way before. As you can imagine we never heard the end of it from our parents. So, we have been going to The Britania just down the street for our fis n chips, they are unbelievably tasty but very expensive. I wish I knew that you sorted your chips out or got rid of the kid who was lazy and reheated our chips. We would love to return to Portland fish n chips.

I have ordered from here before and it has been decent, however this time i was waiting for it to show up and the delivery time was not updating. When it got to the time it was supposed to be delivered it didn’t update to a later delivery time or show. An hour and a bit after the estimated delivery time, it updated saying it had been delivered. I have still received nothing. Quite frankly abysmal.

Waited over 2 hours with no update on what was happening with my order. Felt like they just forgot about my order then suddenly remembered I had been waiting 2 hours. Never waited that long ever absolute poor service

Went for the Red Doner. For the price the portion is very small. The doner was dry and surprisingly bland. Star for not charging extra for salad and sauce, for which the Special Sauce somewhat saved the meal. Would not recommend or try again. Friendly service.

I ordered food via the Portland fish and chips shop website, I placed my order around 1745 hours for a 1830 delivery. I received a text message saying I could track the delivery driver at 1809, I clicked it and the expected time was 1832. By 1909 I hadn't received my order so I contacted the store, the store stated that they had prepared the food and they had given it to a delivery driver and that was as much as they could do.I asked how I claimed a refund and the store said I needed to claim it through the company that employs the delivery drivers. The delivery driver came to my address at 1938 by which point he had my food for around 90 minutes so I refused the delivery on the basis that my food was going to be stone cold. I eventually found out how to attempt to claim a refund, I contacted them and they said they wouldn't give me a refund because the store had declined my refund request. So I'm £19 out of pocket for food that I had been with the delivery driver for 90 minutes, unable to get a refund and had to endure the stores bad attitude! Further complaint will be forthcoming and a fraud case has been raised with PayPal who I used to pay. 100% would not recommend using this restaurant, horrible service

First time visiting Portland's fish and chips. Staff were all welcoming and friendly from when we walked in. Good selection of food on the menu and also a paper version if wanting to order from home. Tried the homemade doner meat which was honestly the nicest thing ever! Perfectly flavoured, even got my partner to try for the first time, was not disappointed. The fish and chips was perfect crispy on the outside and fresh on the inside :) The boxes are the perfect touch with the seperater inside for fish and chips. Cannot fault our visit, good price also. Going to be visiting again very soon. Thank you

I recently visited Portland's Fish & Cips and had a fantastic experience with their fish and chips! Food was cold, chips very dry. Ordered gravy with my chips and got curry which I didn’t mind too much but sauce was barely existent. Disappointing.

Have driven past this place many times but never been in before. I saw a recent review about how much better they’d become under new management so gave them a try. Really impressed - amazing fish and chips, freshly cooked in front of you. Great range of other goodies which I’ll try out whenever I can. Strongly recommend.

Visited to try the red donner meat and it is amazing. Chips are freshly cooked to order so have an amazing crisp outer. Good value for money and the staff have remembered me across a few visits. I will return.

The fish and chips were exceptional! The fish was fresh, with a perfectly crispy golden batter that wasn’t too greasy. The chips were thick-cut, fluffy on the inside, and crunchy on the outside, just as they should be. I loved how everything was served piping hot, making the meal even more enjoyable. The portion size was generous, and the tartar sauce was a perfect tangy complement to the meal. The service was friendly and quick, and the casual atmosphere added to the charm. Overall, a fantastic experience that I’d highly recommend to any fish and chips lover!

We ordered the famous red kebab meat and it was soo tasty! Cooked to perfection with a really tasty naan pitta. Boxed securely with cellophane inside for freshness. Came with lovely chips, but could have enjoyed the meat alone as was VERY tasty! Will be back again for sure! Friendly staff, quick service, lovely and clean and very reasonably priced!

This place offers a variety of options. The Fish was delicious however, the chips were too hard to bite on and we only managed to eat a few of the chips. The chicken goujons are extremely yummy and the chicken burger was great!

Chips rice and curry sauce very dry, only a very small drizzle of curry sauce on the top. Just plain white rice underneath, very flavourless.

Found this place on a halal fish and chips list. Was so pleasantly surprised at the freshness of the fish and serving size. The service was 10/10 from the super friendly staff bc they were super attentive and accommodating. They brought out tables bc it was raining outside and the toilet was prepared with a ladle. Some time ago, Portland's was a great fish and chips shop that went through a bit of a transition from not only chippy fare, but also pizza, burgers, chicken, and all sorts of other foods. I was pleased to hear the shop was under new management and back to providing traditional chippy fare and doing away with all of that other stuff. There is parking at the front of the building and to the side. Walking towards the door, there was a lot of litter and it was a little untidy, so my heart sank a little. On entering, it was completely different: clean, tidy, and modern. The staff were helpful, friendly, and smiling. There was an extensive traditional chip shop menu on the wall above the range, and a wall had been erected, closing off where the pizzas and burgers were once prepared. It looked great. I hope the focus will remain on traditional chippy fare and not fall back to burgers, pizzas, and fried chicken, as I feel it has a bright future. The haddock was fresh and delicious, in a crispy, tasty batter. The chips were how you would expect: crispy, light, and golden, and plenty of them. The salt and pepper squid was fresh with a small accompanying salad. The food overall was great, and I will likely return when passing. Nice chippy but they charge you 50p for a snide sachet of sauce that ye can buy 100 for for 7 quid. Most expensive portion of chips you'll buy in Liverpool but they are nice I will be sticking to my local chip shop lockharts on Warwick street not far from here

Little disappointment. Food was very greasy - didnt impress our European guests. Large haddock with fries was more filling than sharing platter. Found little metal clip from sharing platter. Other than that delivery was quick and food was piping hot.

Ordered 3 cans of Coke Zero and received 2 cans of Diet Coke that nobody wants. Expect a full refund for the drinks.

We went here because they have gluten free fish and chips, and it was excellent. They also had onion rings on the menu and I asked if those were gluten free, he said no. But he offered to try to make them, and he nailed it! Great experience all around.

Fella is sound and the red Donner meat is 100% best Donner in the city! The pita/bread is a different twist too fluffy, soft and gorgeous. Well worth a visit!!!!
