Very disappointed. My husband and I had been wanting to come here for quite a while so we decided to visit today. When we got there at 5pm it was closed even though their google page shows that they are open until 11pm on Sundays. I'm heavily pregnant so it wasn't easy for us coming on public transport but we really wanted to try their food. We left upset and confused in the rain. It seems from other reviews that other people have been met with the same situation in the past.

Sometimes food was good, other times it gave me diarrhoea

We had the best burger at Grand Daddy’s Diner. Having never heard of the place we popped in whilst looking for food on a recent day out. There’s a great selection of burgers and they were executed to perfection. The owner was friendly and attentive. Definitely on a parr with Five Guys if not better!

Great menu. Fantastic burgers. Easily gives 5 guys a run for its money. Will definitely be back to try some more of the menu.

The burgers are very delicious here. And there are also student discounts available. Good place to go after work!

Came here as i saw it advertised and it was unreal. I got a fried chicken burger with cheese, Buffalo wings, cheesy Fries & New york cheesecake. Food was all fresh and hot and tasty. Got a few cans of American soda which they have a big range of, the cheesecake was delicious and warm with Lots of icecream! owners were lovely and gave me discount! HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Food was very great, tasty and juicy. Even the boss, the chef offered a fantastic service ensuring all customers were comfortable and asked for feedback. What struck me the most was his kindness to a homeless pair who were gratefully asking for food. The owner even asked them to sit indoors rather than to eat outside. 10/10 and would love to support the owner more.

The food was tasty and well cooked, my only discrepancy was the sheer grease that came off it. The service was great the man was lovely and friendly, but was told cheesecake was off the menu and they had nothing die to it not being busy. No atmosphere, furniture ripped and outdated, music turned off and we were the only souls there. Although there was reserved signs on the tables where the ripped diner seats was. But we figured that was to deter people from sitting there so they didn't have to clean it if anything. When we was eating they turned music on but overall it wasn't what I hoped for.

I went with my friend to get the American Diner Experience that wasn't Archie's. It was lovely food, great service. The young guy who served us complimented me on my taste in American Soda (Dr Pepper Strawberries & Cream). I used their bluetooth to play my music list on Spotify. It was good.

This was hands down the best burger I had in Manchester so far. The wings were also tasty. Good prices. I highly recommend it.

Today i went to this place, after searching on google for one of the best places in manchester. So i decided to go with this place. And honestly, it was such a great service given by the “dad & son”. They were so kind towards my kids. The food i ordered along with my friends, came out 10/10. I keep praying for this place to keep doing well and people to go there and try it out. If i was a local, this would be my every other weekend meal. 👌🙌

We went earlier in the day so it was very quiet. Staff were polite/food came quickly. Overall nice but the chicken was a bit dry, and the pop from the dispenser I wanted came out as just soda water.

Food was amazing, service was quick and the person working this evening (14/05/2024) was super friendly. My only recommendation (not a complaint), is maybe some music. Otherwise the 5 stars is very much justified! Will definitely be back ❤️ Also, wasn't aware there was a student deal, but we were happy to pay the price which was very affordable anyway. Don't bother with chains like Archies, go here!

I love this diner so much. They have a great variety of American drinks and it feels so authentic without needing to be cheesy. Staff are always so lovely and polite. The food is always perfect and I cannot fault it. I would choose this place Over any other for burgers in Manchester.

I went inside, there was a sign telling me to wait to be seated. I didn't see any workers just clients talking inside. Maybe all were on a break? I will have to try to come again and see if this was just my bad timing.

Excellent food and service. It’s also a bonus for being halal and having a good selection of vegetarian items ! The owner even offered student discounts of free items depending on if you paid cash or card. The chips were definitely one of the best I’ve ever had. Would definitely recommend this place.

Nice thick burger. If you want thick patties, this is the one. However, 1 point deducted for order medium but got well done. Might because my request for luttice warp. The chips are nice and crispy. It's more on the crispy side and that's what I like for skinny fries. The milkshake is wonderful. I ordered peanut butter and oh man the flavour is strong. The viscosity is just right too. Not too thick to drink from straw and not too watery like flavoured milk. The service is great and they're nice to accommodate my request for luttice wrap although not on the menu and the seeminly first attempt. Overall, a nice burger shop I would come back from time to time.

First time dining here and it was a very pleasant experience. The staff were lovely and accommodating. I ordered onion rings, fried chicken burger, fries and a drink. They only made me pay for the starter and burger which was very kind of them. I believe this is a student discount. Food came out quickly and tasted very fresh. Will definitely go back!

The burgers were really nice both quantity and quality wise. The prices were very reasonable and they have a student free drink and fries available. The staff was very friendly.

The crunch of the pickles and gherkins added a delightful contrast, while the freshness of the shredded lettuce and the crunchiness of the red cabbage elevated each bite. Each component worked harmoniously to make a delicious burger! The cheesy fries were decent, but they didn't quite hit the mark for me. While the gooey cheese had a satisfying texture, it lacked the bold flavor I was hoping for. The fries themselves were crispy enough, but they didn't stand out. Overall, I'd give them a 6 out of 10. They were okay, but there's definitely room for improvement.

As you enter you’ll be greeted by a funky and fun interior, and serviced by a friendly manager. We had an order for 4 which amounted to 32 pounds which included 4 burgers, 4 fries and drinks (an AMAZING student, cash only deal to get free fries and drink with a burger). Super generous portions and lovely, quick service, juicy chicken, dripping with sauce and perfectly cooked fries. This is the place to go when you want something filling and tasty. They have a large menu with many unique burgers- something a bit more special than a typical Faux American joint. Comparing to typical fast food, this place gives way larger portions, Way tastier food for the same price! Supporting small businesses and a comforting environment. My only gripe would be if they did a couple of vegan options! Special thanks to the manager and staff for taking our photos and being super accommodating! Would give 6 stars if i could, a must go for all local students. We WILL be back <3

Popped in for a burger whilst visiting for a gig at the Apollo. The venue is super cute, I absolutely loved the retro decor (although it could use a little TLC) I opted for the Daddy Mac, which was outrageously good! Over the top style and size, which is exactly what you would expect from an American diner! Would recommend to anyone visiting the area 🍔

I ordered fried chicken burger, with side of chips and drink. The burger tasted amazing and the burger buns were soft and spongy looking. The customer service is great and I really recommend this place, try their dishes and you won't be disappointed.

We always go here when visiting Manchester. The staff and owner are lovely and always welcoming. The grand Daddy challenge burger is massive and very tasty! Love the shakes as well! We always have a good meal.

Food and service were amazing! Best burger I’ve had in a long time, huge portions. The staff even went as far to bring extra nacho cheese unprompted and gave us “top ups” of milkshake that didn’t fit in our glasses. 100% would go again.

I have been to many burger places in Manchester. This is by far the best burger place I have been to. It was fresh and the meat was high quality. I had the big daddy's burger and the loaded fries. Highly recommend and will definitely make this my main burger place.

My husband and I arrived after traveling in from Edinburgh on New Year’s Day and were craving some comfort food. Gran Daddy’s was perfect. The food was delicious, but the owner was so welcoming. He told us it wasn’t a great day to be open, but that he wanted to be open for any customers that might have traveled from far away. The portions were more than generous, everything was seasoned to perfection and tasted great. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. After returning back to the states, we couldn’t stop talking about how kind he was and the mark he left on us both. Thank you for feeding us, and sharing your hospitality with us!! If you’re looking for American comfort food, and one of the kindest owners we have ever met, don’t hesitate to enjoy a meal at Gran Daddy’s!!

tldr great value tasty food with IMMACULATE & kind service My fiancé made an offhand comment that they wished we had American diners in the UK sometime so I found this place & took them as a mini surprise/treat. I have NEVER felt so welcomed and looked after anywhere!! The gentleman who served us, I presume the owner, was attentive but not overbearing: put the heating on when he noticed we were cold, helped us get the best value meal (I spent £11 on a burger, fries and a coke!!!), and when we ordered milkshakes he surprised us with large size no extra charge 😭 And let me tell you, we got Ferrero & Nutella milkshakes and they were the BEST milkshakes we'd ever had!! And yes I've tried that one pink themed food joint in Manchester many a time! The burgers were fantastic too, huge portions, mine had a mac and cheese patty that was to die for. The food might not be gourmet but for a casual eatery and for the price, fantastic. Had lots of veggie options too. Would be great for kids, I think. Try it!!

I really liked the burger. It's near to Manchester university so you would find alot of students, so not very expensive. However, taste is really nice.

Been in Manchester for the week with work and gave this place a try , ended up eating here 3 times in the week . Very friendly and welcoming staff and the burgers are top notch , not just an average burger gaff. I have a big appetite so my first visit I added an extra burger to my burger , totally unnecessary as they are big meaty burgers that really hit the spot . Onion rings are class aswell . If you are in the area and enjoy burgers give this place a try . Price is very reasonable for the quality. Place as a large selection of American drinks aswell

Great place with good food and friendly staff. Students get free drink and fries and is a lovely meal for £8. Great place to work through your lunch too, as it's laid back and with present but tasteful and quiet background music.

I’ve eaten better burgers in my life. This was pretty tasteless for £10, fries burnt. Staff friendly until my boyfriend said he doesn’t like the food. He left full burger and no refund was offered. I’d never come back and no recommend- there’re better places with higher value for the money.

Utterly delicious, juicy burgers! Priced very reasonably for what you get. I can't recommend them enough. Better than Five Guys in my opinion, which is saying a lot! Worth a visit if you love a proper burger and a classic diner atmosphere with cool and friendly staff.

Very disappointed after reading the reviews. Burger was ok but very sloppy. Fries were awful very over cooked. As if they were re-fried leftovers. Served in a wooden box that doesn't look ver hygienic. What's up with plates. We aren't living in the stone ages.

Blue cheese burger was fabulous

Wonderful buisness and the owners were so welcoming! Arrived at 11am on the dot when they opened and the owners were already set up and welcomed myself and my sister in ❤️ We grabbed our own seats and ordered at the till when we were ready. The lady at the till had to come back and tell us that the food we ordered was not ready to be served because that was one of the dishes that was not prepared quite yet since everything was made fresh to order. Not a problem at all, we changed the order and it was made within 20 minutes! We got an extra serving of specially made fries that were not on the menu for the inconvenience! The food was so fresh, delicious and the portions kept us full for ages afterwards too. I would highly recommend eating out here ❤️ The staff were lovely and attentive and made the effort to make us feel important and offered refunds for the difference in meals when there was an issue. The place was very quiet and I have no idea why because the food was great, the music was all classics like Elvis Presley and Tina Turner, the atmosphere was spot on for a classic style diner. I would love to see this place thrive!

Amazing little gem of a place to visit, never knew about this place but I saw it on Instagram. Saw the high reviews and thought I should check it out. It did not disappoint, food tasted amazing I could have easily had seconds. They have alot of drinks available some I have never seen before. This place deserves to be alot more bigger and popular. Next time im back in Manchester I will visit this place again. Forget Nandoes and Dixy's this is where you want to eat.

Burgers are made fresh, it may take awhile but it tastes super good! If you are a student, there’s a free burger upgrade to a meal! I would come again to try all other things on the menu, because it is that good! Hope to see Grand Daddy open in Singapore one day :)

What a little gem this place was! Gorgeous burgers, fresh crispy fries, fab old fashioned milk shake. The service was amazing and prices some of the cheapest in Manchester. We could have got a better deal too if we had known they did student deals but these weren't advertised so we missed out. Some of the booths are looking a bit tired but apart from that I will definitely be visiting again and recommending it to people. I had a chilli burger which was cooked perfectly and my companion had the Mexican burger. And look at my bubblegum milkshake! Heaven!

Lovely little diner which was so so good !!!

It's a nice little burger joint tucked in a side road off the main road. The gentleman who served me, Elliot, was brilliant. Very polite and hospitable young man. The food was great, I got a grand daddy burger meal with water. This comes with 2 fried chicken pieces and a beef slice, watch the video, it's a pretty generous portion. Would recommend, the place. Some of the booths need renovation as I noticed the leather seating coming apart, but apart from that it was delicious. Would go again.

Really good well-stacked burger (none of that ingredients-sliding-out-everywhere business), and fun selection of American soda flavours. Decent price for the amount and quality of food, plus the staff are super nice. All food halal if that matters to you

The food here is amazinggg!! The burgers were so juicy and fresh! The buffalo wings were divine! Homemade buffalo sauce was incredible! Will definitely return! Very friendly service, lovely guy! Such a lovely diner in Manchester which was fantastic all round! Service was lovely the moment we walked through the door, and the food was delicious! We found this place on our tastecard app and i'm so glad we did! The prices are so affordable and even cheaper with the discount from the tastecard! Will 100% be going back!

My friends and I wandered in at 9pm after a long day at a convention, and the guy running the place was an absolute star. Quick service, friendly conversation, and when there was leftover milkshake in the blender he told us to drink while we waited and he'd top us up with the spare. It looked like a nice place to eat in, but we got takeaway, with sturdy paper bags and separate boxes for everything. He even offered us a bag to carry some of our con purchases. The fries were solid and the shakes were delicious, but the real star here was the burgers. The Big Daddy was absolutely gorgeous, and I 100% recommend it. Juicy and filling but not greasy, flavourful but not overpowering. I also tried some of a Blue Cheese Heaven, which was really lovely. I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in Manchester, and I recommend anyone visiting to give it a try.

(French comment below) We really enjoyed our meal, fresh, homemade, a really nice chef and staff The chicken burger was super crispy, the bacon'n'egg burger juicy and the fries so crispy too with the good amont of salt! I will recommand it 100% and if we can come back in this city, We will eat here again for sure! Nous avons adoré notre repas qui était frais, fait maison, un staff et chef super agréable Le burger au poulet était super croustillant, le burger à l'œuf et bacon bien juteux et les frites parfaitement croustillantes et salées juste comme il faut! Je vous recommande à 100% ce restaurant et si nous revenons dans cette ville nous y retournerons avec plaisir!

Horrible service, we had to leave after being ignored.

Ordered a plain burger, they proceeded to serve us a burger with everything on and argued we did not request it plain. The plain burger that we was served was cold and tasted old, the chips were overcooked and barely warm, the 8 pound burger didn't even come with chips, and the server had to sort through the pile of 'clean' glasses to give us actually clean glasses

Lonely place for delicious food. The worker was soo lovely and provided extra food to open our fast with. Food was really good! Halal too!

Excellent food! The waiter was very kind. Went there for 3 times and the food quality remains outstanding as it had been. The beef patty there is like nothing I have eaten. It is not heavily minced and retains part of the texture and flavour of a proper steak. Apparently it was carefully purchased in advance before being served to us. They also do student deals and the portions are large! Definitely would go again!

Quirky American style diner that offers Burgers, Milkshakes etc decently priced and the food is lovely! Would definitely recommend, its opposite the Bread shed so very convenient if your attending a gig etc
