Block Steak Shop in Manchester

We were staying nearby and came for steaks. Absolutely amazing, good quality meat and nice portions. Service was great, friendly and personal. The macaroni cheese is the best I ever had and well worth the trip up to Manchester.

Came here and the Hatch has permanently closed yet advertising places like this open? Came at 7pm, says closes at 9pm. Completely shut.

A very enjoyable evening, only issue was the delay in receiving the food, but it was definitely worth the wait, steak well cooked, fries well seasoned & the martini was the cherry on top. Will definitely return.

very good value for money, had the steak and Stilton with a side of beef dripping fries. The ciabatta was nicely loaded and plenty of fries left me full and very satisfied. My partner chose the Bavette steak with chimichurri and said the chimi really lifted the dish. This is definitely a good place to come for a light lunch or evening meal, we will be back.

Price is good for what you get. I had the surf and turf which was a nice cut of bavette ... king prawns, fries with rosemary salt and caked in chimichurri. My partner and I both felt the dishes came too heavy with the chimichurri. Overall decent experience and would return. The peppercorn sauce was nice.

Was excited to try your steak and fries before I leave the UK. Sadly the food was kind of disappointing. I ordered a flat iron with fries. The steak turned out to be way overcooked, which by default should've been pink. The steak was very chewy and difficult to cut into. Was happy with the fries which were well seasoned. Service was great.

All in all a good experience. A little loud music, but they turned it down when we asked. We where 4 people that were all happy about the food. Okei service as well :)

Went for lunch, the steak and chips options were good, the drinks were better. Staff were friendly and attentive. Good vibes.

Came here after having a walk around the area after getting off the train at Oxford Road Station, me and my friend came across here and decided to give it a go and we opted for the Bavette and fries and wasn’t disappointed, I went for the chimichurri dressing & my friend went for the peppercorn both went perfectly with the steak, generous portion of chips, too. You will definitely leave full & satifised, only negative was it quite cold in the restaurant

Brilliant - small menu means food is perfect and quickly served. We did a walk in on Friday - steaks perfectly cooked, tasty fries, sauces and butters spot on, side of mac & cheese was delicious. Great to find a place that really knows how to cook and serve steak👍👍

The food was enjoyable and had a lot of flavour, no skimping on portion sizes lots of chips and a good size steak for the price. My friend ordered the mushroom bagel which she enjoyed. All in all a good place to come for my lunch break

Perfect! I went for a romantic solo meal and left more than satisfied. I had surf and turf, with a side of Mac and cheese, and it was beautiful. Steak was cooked to perfection and full of flavour. I will definitely be back, after telling colleagues/friends to go and visit. Also shout out to the great service from the dark haired Aussie/Kiwi (sorry I couldn't pinpoint!) Thank you

I really enjoyed the steak and fries.

This is supposed to be “deep fried potatoes dauphinoise”. It had zero cream sauce and as you can see from the picture it was deep fried to a piece of coal. Also for some bizarre reason the tissue they brought cutlery in was soaking wet. Maybe they expected me to wrap it around the potato coals to rehydrate them? Not sure. Won’t be eating there again. Update 12/10/23: The owner was very kind to offer us meals on the house. The steak and chips were great, and the chimichurri sauce was delicious. The staff were also friendly, and it’s totally understandable they might’ve had a very busy day when I got my initial order. Hospitality isn’t an easy field.

Flavourful quality steak cuts, and excellent side dishes and sauces. The wine list is impressive and nicely put together. The staff are friendly and the atmosphere is unpretentious and laidback. Gluten free options were plentiful. But most of all, the prices are incredibly reasonable. This place is just wonderful! Well worth your time and money.

Amazing food, duck loaded fries are out of this world, must try in Manchester

Went for the bavette and chips with peppercorn sauce. Spent the rest evening throwing up after tasting the concoction that was supposed to be be peppercorn sauce. That's after eating 6 pieces of meat and a dozen French fries.... even the wife couldn't eat it. More like pavement food than street food.would of given less than 1 star on the experience

Simple steak in a food court. It comes cooked pink. They tell you this on the menu. You can have the steak cooked through if you want, but please don't ruin the excellent food by asking. Staff were friendly. Service was quick. Excellent value for money.

We had bavette and chips and it was really really good and both were cooked perfectly. Liked the peppercorn sauce, a bit less salt next time though. Block is in the Hatch, under the ring road bridge and you have to walk through quite a bit to find it. It's number 15, on the ground floor. You can order in block itself, or pick any table within the Hatch, scan the QR code and order. It'll be delivered at your table.

Brilliant. Found by accident when working in Manchester. Bit difficult to find once you enter the hatch but glad a persevered. Bavette steak and dripping fries were amazing and very good value. The mac and cheese was awesome and there is good sized portion. I can see this place being great for lunchtime people or those after a quick bite early evening. Very streetfood atmosphere so would be great fun in the summer. Would definitely go back on my next visit. Would be great if they teamed up and did delivery. Highly recommended.

Had the bavette steak and fries and padron peppers because I did not know what padron oeppers were. Both were delish propely cooked. Padrom peppers look like hot peppers but are fairly mild and covered in salt crystals. Nummy.
