It was our second visit for afternoon tea at Cedar Manor with our first visit being 2 years ago and it was just as wonderful. Such a beautiful place with the best, most delicious afternoon tea. They are so welcoming and Cedar Manor is just beautiful. Thank you again for a lovely visit. We will definitely come again!

Fantastic! I’m a regular visitor to this shop and I’ve never bought anything that hasn’t been perfect. From the “Cumberland curl”, a variety of marinated chicken breasts, lamb joints, bacon (including treacle and breakfast), a variety of different pies, “chilli growlers”, marinated lamb shanks and so the list goes on. Absolutely first class. I’ve been nudged into writing this review after my husband tried their new spicy lamb pie. He said it was “excellent” with “great spices”. All this with such friendly, professional, informative service. All I can say is if you’re in Windermere don’t miss a visit.

Staying locally and last day treat a fab cooked breakfast. Cooked fresh, lovely service and atmosphere. Would recommend a visit. Thanks.

So happy I found this little van of treats after a long dog walk. It was based at the National Trust site and the guy who runs it, and his friendly dog, were really nice. I'm a fussy coffee consumer but his coffee was really great, and the vegan offerings made by his wife were truly delicious....and very filling as they are generous portions! The cinnamon bun and the oreo cookie were gorgeous but my favourite was the choc flapjack. Unfortunately I had to share it with my husband so I very much plan to stop by here again the next time we are up in the Lakes and treat myself again. Thank you!!

Terrible customer service. Travelled 2 hours to eat here. Advised to come back in 1 hour for a table. Explained to the lady was okay, to then be told they may not be able to make our food as they are closing at even though it states 4:30pm. Then passed a takeaway menu (which left us very confused as we had been given a table in 1 hour) All throughout this the lady walked off which resulted in me asking her to come back to us 3 times to explain what exactly we needed to do. The older lady Walked off mid conversation, and was extremely unhelpful. We have visited this place as a family many times. This level of rudeness it is safe to say we will not be returning. This encounter has left us feeling very upset and disappointed. We have sent many family members and friends to visit this place, and rated it very highly.

A great place to eat! Staying with family nearby with babies and vegans- they cater for everyone! Nothing is too much for them. The food, service and the staff are fantastic My stepfather said their sausage and chili jam sandwich ‘goes down in history as the best!’ They even do scones cream and jam to go!

Amazing food and service. Had prawns to start and chicken gyros, friendly service and good sized portions that were delicious. Highly recommend.

We visited on a recommendation and it did not disappoint. Me and my partner both went for the bbq pulled pork and it was delicious and full to the brim! Service was great.

We had a gorgeous meal in Oaks restaurant. A 3 course feast that started with Coquilles St Jacques (a wonderful mixture of scallops and potato) main was perfectly cooked lamb and, to finish, Creme Brûlée. My fellow dinner guests all had something different but every plate was clear and a lot of contented nodding was going on. Bravo!

Well we live in Australia where pubs have all the atmosphere of a warehouse and our visit a to the Queens Head yesterday made me wish I still lived in England. We’d had an unexpectedly long walk through the village of Troutbeck and my daughter was not feeling well, and our lunch here totally redeemed the day. The menu was great and we all thoroughly enjoyed what we ate and there was much swapping around of things from plate to plate. The pate was rich and smooth. The bread board was enormous, the olives tender and the dipping bowl kept us guessing - olive oil, balsamic and honey? My son thoroughly approved of his chicken burger in ciabatta and wolfed it down. As he is now eighteen he enjoyed a pint of Dizzy Blonde with it. My palate is better on wine but I had a few sips and that was a very nice beer - smooth and a little bit flowery, in a good way. I had a delicious shandy and the manager was very gracious about my indecisiveness about what beer to have it made with - so much choice!! It was bloody delicious. The other great thing about this place is that it’s in a building which is several hundred years old and has been fitted out with incredible grace and style. It’s the perfect English pub - low ceilings, wooden beams, firesides and comfy seating and dogs. I’d come back in a heartbeat and in fact might just make a special trip before we head off down under again. Stonkingly good. PS: I’m a writer and usually write about Tasmania where I live. If you’re interested, find me on Amazon - Apple Island Wife. Happy days!

I can't review the food here as we didn't stay long. We had booked the restaurant and arrived on time. When we walked in we weren't acknowledged either by the waitress who was close to us, or the lady behind the counter at the back. So we loitered a bit before the second lady shouted over 'sit in one of those tables over there'. We got the menu, but by this time we felt there was no atmosphere and it felt a bit like a cafe - although the food prices were high. This wouldn't have put us off but the feel of the place did. Sorry to Hooked that we didn't stay but we had a much better welcome elsewhere that evening.

We waited outside for a short while for a shared table and received our food promptly. The queue remained out the door whilst we were there, getting longer! They serve hearty breakfasts with delicious flavour that are perfect to start a day of exploring the trip the lakes.

We had the best wedding at Broadoaks in October last year. Everything was amazing. Issie, our wedding coordinator was great, as were all the staff throughout our two days stay. The place itself is stunning and was great for our wedding of around 35 people.
