The Windermere Speakeasy in South Lakeland

Opa was a wonderful restaurant with very kind and accomodating staff. The food portions were very large and reasonably priced and the everything was cooked perfectly. Would recommend for solo travellers or anyone :)

We had a booking at 7:30pm and when we arrived were left at the entrance for five minutes before the waiter returned and said "you are sitting at the round table up stairs". No one took us to our seats or even pointed us in the direction of the table. When we sat down, we were not given any menus, so had to use one which had been left between five of us. Thirty minutes went by and no one had taken an order, so at 8:10pm we asked to place an order for drinks and food. As the waitress didn't have a notepad, she just took the drinks order (which we completely understood as we would struggle to remember 5 drinks, starters and mains off the top of our heads). She came to take the food order about 5/10 minutes later. Twenty minutes after that, we began to recieve our drinks, but one of the beers had been forgotten, so we waited another 5 minutes until that arrived. It took a total of TWO HOURS until we received our food. The waitress and manager apologised and said that they were sorry for the delay, but they were prioritising the Take-Out orders?! When the starters arrived TWO HOURS after we had sat down, we were missing 2 out of the five we ordered. These arrived at the same time as the main courses (well most of them). Of the five main courses, only 4 arrived. We said that we were missing one of the Vegetarian Moussakas which ended up never arriving... the Veg Moussaka which did come was stone cold in the middle and had to be returned. They asked if we wanted the other Moussaka, but we just said to cancel that one. The Chicken Gyros were so salty that they could not be eaten and were left to be taken away. The waitress was lovely the whole time and very apologetic but it didn't get much better when the bill came because we were charged for wine which we never ordered?! A couple sat next to us didn't have a drinks or food order taken and had to go down stairs to ask for a drink. Half an hour later they still hadn't received them so left instead of waiting for food or drinks. Do not be fooled by the 5 star reviews, we were really excited to eat here but will 100% not be back.

This venue was a stunning impromptu find when needing a coffee stop which led to a fabulous Greek brunch. The hosts were super friendly and kind and the food was delicious and superb value. This was a delight to spend time in, dog friendly too.

We visited on a Saturday night. The food was fantastic and very fresh. The service was excellent and there was a buzz about the place.

This place is friendly, jolly and enthusiastic. Lovely homemade greek food, with service to match Full up on 4 dishes between us but we squeezed in Aunties Orange Pudding, worth it!

The restaurant was busy when we arrived but were seated promptly. The food was delicious, fresh hot and a generous amount. The prices were reasonable and the atmosphere and staff were great .

Really excellent meal. The team was welcoming and encouraging to try new things. Loved the zucchini fritters (I’ve tried making at home), baked feta, chicken skewers and Greek salad. Drink menu very nice two. We tried several different things. Highly recommend. (As an aside, music is just awful. Remakes of 80s songs. Really bad remakes.)

My wife and I both enjoyed a very nice evening with excellent Greek meals, well presented and in generous servings. The service was top quality with helpful, polite and friendly staff and served in a relaxed way, as one would hope when dining at a Mediterranean restaurant. Would definitely recommend

We ordered Hummus, vegetable moussaka and a Greek salad. The food was amazing. Our waitress (who was from Madrid) was terrific. Prices were very reasonable. Good ambiance.

Me my wife and 8yr old visited this place around 12:30 very nice welcome nice place , My daughter ordered a pizza we opted for the chicken gyro;s we were the only people in & it took Maybe 25 min for are order to come she sad sorry as they had just opened and the grill wasn’t hot , Also the pizza dough was not defrosted ! So my daughter opted for chicken nuggets which she enjoyed The chicken gyro was nice/ok not much of it & expensive compared to other Greek places we have been The place was clean and the staff were friendly

The new Opa Greek Restaurant in Windermere is outstanding. The Greek vibe hits you as you walk through the door with the decor, music, ambiance and warm welcome but it's the food that's the star... authentic Greek flavours, quality produce, cooked and served to perfection just how you'd expect in Greece, generous and heartful... no prisse plate dressing. just great, honest, tasty meditareanean cooking. We had the baked feta, loaded with peppers, red onion, tomato and fresh oregano, village meatballs ( really succulent and no fat - so good - and the tangy tomato sauce OMG ), Feta and Spinach filo pies ( perfect, with fresh dill as well ) grilled hallumi with a chilli dipping sauce and a chicken gyros plate with skillet flat breads, tzaziki, fries and salad. Ive not had a gyrus that good anywhere outside of Greece before! There's plenty more on the menu to choose from so I'm already looking forward to going back to sample a true taste of Greece in the heart of the Lakes!

We were so lucky to get in without a reservation, the owners and staff were exemplary on their customer’s service and hospitality and the food was fantastic!!! Highly recommend eating here, they have only been open 3 weeks but a real asset to Windermere. Just need to be quicker with the ice…..

Stumbled upon this little bar/restaurant as we were staying close by. What a great find! Menu is casual dining but with originality and flare! We ordered the vegetarian sharing board and another couple of dishes to share and were not disappointed. The food was presented beautifully, plentiful and flavoursome. Wine and drinks list is extensive so I enjoyed a raspberry Bellini pre dinner and wine to accompany my food. Shame we’re going home tomorrow as I’d love to go back and try more dishes… thank you for your great customer service, excellent food and great value for money.

We visited for tapas and cocktails, although they also have a great wine list and selection of spirits, plus share plates, pizzas and burgers on the menu. The staff were really friendly, with a great playlist - we really enjoyed our evening and would recommend
