This was the first place we stayed on our HIS definitive 9-day tour of the UK. It was a lovely hotel on a quiet lakeside with signs saying Private Lakeside all around. The staff were kind and the rooms and furnishings were calming and relaxing. There were guests staying with two large, intelligent, well-behaved dogs, which made me feel the difference from Japan. We slept soundly and comfortably, had a delicious breakfast, and left in high spirits.

We visited Broadoaks for afternoon tea on Mon 3 March. It was spectacular! Normally there is not enough savoury and too much sweet but this couldn't have been better. Lovely sandwiches, brioche rolls, sausage rolls, mini quiches made up an amazing platter; we have never seen anything quite like this. The scone was the perfect combination of crispy on the outside, soft in the middle and didn't crumble when the jam and clotted cream were added. The desserts were all home made. The chocolate ganache cake was to die for! The chef even prepared two Portuguese tarts as a special extra. My wife had a vegetarian platter which was equally perfect. Patrick who managed the afternoon tea service was friendly, entertaining, super helpful and incredibly smartly dressed! It was worth going to the hotel if only to meet him! Chelsea at reception was a lovely, friendly and bubbly person. Overall this was the most extravagant afternoon tea we have ever had; it was the height of decadence and a wonderful experience!

A nice alternative to pub fayre. Good quality food. Especially the Pork Chop dish. Around £20 per main. Service was good. Atmosphere was pleasant. Music nice. It was a Tuesday night and reasonably busy until 8.30pm. It is a bar too. But quite expensive really. I would recommend, for good quality food in a quiet restaurant setting. No dogs during food Service. Although two tables outside would cater for this.

What a fantastic place, spent the weekend there and the dog was welcome too, the staff were all very friendly and professional and couldn’t do enough for us. The room was huge with a Super Kingsize bed, very tastefully decorated and immaculately clean. The breakfast was delicious and we booked for Sunday lunch as well. Would most definitely recommend this hotel and will definitely stay here again.

Disappointing Experience at Langdale Chase – Poor Service and Lack of Basic Hospitality We paid for close to £700 for one night at the hotel. It was a disappointing experience. From the moment of arrival, there were numerous issues: • No assistance with luggage, despite my partner being heavily pregnant. We were left to carry heavy bags ourselves with no support offered. I had to take them up the flights of stairs myself. • No greeting or welcome on arrival – we were left standing awkwardly in reception while the staff were busy. • I had tried to call ahead to confirm our arrival, but no one picked up the phone. • In our room, the only still water provided was a small bottle with a broken top that could not be opened. • There were no water glasses provided in the room, only wine glasses and coffee cups. When I raised concerns with the hotel, I was told by a staff member that the reason for the lack of assistance was that they were “too busy”. That said, it did not seem to be that busy. For me this explanation is not acceptable. Being busy is no excuse for neglecting basic hospitality and guest service – especially when charging premium rates. I had sincerely hoped for a relaxing and welcoming stay, but instead, it was frustrating and stressful.

A fairly small, simple and quaint restaurant, but excellent value and delicious Chinese food. The chicken and sweetcorn soup is some of the best I have ever tasted. Well seasoned and the texture is perfect, as often some places make it way too gloopy. The prawn toast had more prawn in it than virtually every other place i have been, furthermore you can tell its homemade rather than the oh so common freezer to fryer ones made with a prawn and chicken mix. The hot garlic beef steak was absolutely divine, so tender and spicy, a standout dish. Only downside, the sweet and sour wasn’t great, I have much better elsewhere, but the rest of the food is so good it doesn’t bother me, I just don’t order it anymore! If you have somewhere to eat at home, there isn’t much advantage to eating out at the restaurant compared to as a takeaway as its a simple setting, but regardless the staff have always been very friendly and catered to our needs well. The best Chinese in Bowness/Windermere and it’s not even close! (And trust me, at the time of writing we have been to them all!)

Thoroughly enjoyed our tapas selection (meeting selection plus halloumi and patatas braves. With the extra benefit of unseasonably warm weather we were able to eat al fresco and could almost have been in Spain. Buzzy atmosphere, good food and friendly service. Recommended.

Visited Windermere today with our cocker spaniel It was chilly so didn’t really want a outdoor seat for coffee and meal which seemed to be all we could have with a dog However we came across ‘Slate’ Dogs welcome We were promptly welcomed and given a menu, and advised our order would be collected as soon as we were ready Coffee was served, very nice Followed by our meals, very well presented and exactly what was described Prices were completely reasonable for what we had Would highly recommend and will return if we come again to Windermere
