Tapios in South Lakeland

The food is excellent with lots of Gluten Free options. Excellent service and great atmosphere. The staff were very ‘clued in’ on GF which is always a bonus. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Great little place for tapas and can see from the people they had to turn away were fully booked . Good stacked bar for drinks and nice tables setting . I had chicken in a sauce , potatoes and starters food was good

Food was average, service was terrible. From the minute we walked in ushered to the bar for a drink and the minute our knife and fork touched the plate we were asked if we would mind moving so that other people could use the table. All this being said we had pre-booked a table for 20:00 which we didn’t sit down at untill 20:10 and expected to leave at 20:40. Very disappointed

Once again on our annual visit to Windermere we dined at Tapios on.......Friday the 13th. No horror story here though, consistently the best tapas I've had in the UK. Great service with a very warm welcome as always. Wishing all at Tapios a very merry Xmas, see you soon Neil & Lottie

Waitresses were fabulous. Food really not great. Worst tapas I have had. Owner propping up the bar looking cross and getting in the staff's way. He asked for our opinion then was dismissive and angry when it wasn't all positive. Needs a decent chef and the owner to stay away, then it would be great.

We booked a table for two the day before based on us liking tapas, people recommending whilst we sat outside having a drink and that the vibe and decor appealed to us it seemed cosy and friendly and the lighting both inside and at the front adds warmth which we like. Staff very friendly (we assumed Spanish as the music and food is Spanish style however surprisingly they were mainly Polish and Romanian even the cook is Polish, we love Polish food so perhaps they could branch out and do Polish food too haha). We ordered a variety of dishes and all tasty. Atmosphere was superb. Bill very reasonable priced we were shocked to change from £80 with what we ate and drank. Only slight negative was the staff clearing your plates too quickly however they prob need the faster turnaround of tables so I can understand to a degree but just feels slightly rushed but on the whole world highly recommend!

Fantastic service and great food, the white wine Sangria was a real surprise and very moorish. A must eat restaurant. All the dishes were tasty and authentic.

Food was pretty excellent but the service, especially from the man who welcomed us on entry was bizarre. Abrupt and unfriendly. I guess they deal with a lot of tourists so can behave how they like but we won't return. They need to fund a way to match the good food with good service.

My son chose this restaurant as he loves tapas and the quality of the food did not disappoint. We ordered 3 dishes each and it was enough for us along with a couple of beers. I did feel that we were a bit rushed, the table which was quite small quickly filled with plates of food and I think I would have preferred a gentle trickle of food to savour. A bit more in keeping with Spanish tapas rather than it all appearing within minutes. That said the service was good.

A good spot in Windermere - popular so would recommend booking. Decent selection of wines and beers and a wide range of tapas. We opted for the meat meze which was good - needed some additional bread to accompany the heavily sauce based tapas. Service was ok given levels of business

Excellent food and great service in a nice little restaurant. Particularly enjoyed the chorizo in red wine, honey and almonds.... And they make awesome mojito's.

The food was good, however disappointingly the service stopped once the food arrived at the table. The dishes all arrived very quickly. We enjoyed the chicken in white wine & albondigas. We weren’t asked if we wanted more drinks, desert or coffee. The 3/5 star review is due to this. I would have liked to have left a 3.5/5

What an amazing experience! First time ever Tapas thoroughly enjoyed it. Such a warm welcome, friendly staff and amazing service with fantastic quality food and drinks. Well worth a visit if your in windermere. Don't forget to leave a tip! They deserve it. Big AL

We booked a table for 6pm for myself and my husband as we had read great reviews online for the restaurant and it did not disappoint. When we arrived the chef was talking to a neighbouring table and offering to modify some dishes to their taste which I thought was excellent service from our first impression. We were seated promptly and ordered drinks. The restaurant was steady with families dining showing us that there was food to suit all ages. We ordered the mixed meze to start and the pitta bread was lovely and warm with the hummus, tzatziki, olives and feta. To follow we had chicken wings, beef which melted in the mouth, chorizo in honey and almonds (which my husband thoroughly enjoyed), langoustines, potatoes bravas which were beautifully cooked and the aubergine with a cheesy sauce. All the food was hot and extremely tasty and we ate the lot! For dessert we shared the triple chocolate stack, again beautifully presented. This weekend in the Lakes is very important to us and has been made all the better by the fantastic food at Tapios, thank you so much.

The food was great the beef was tasty so was the meatballs the service was great and very reasonably priced food. Make sure you book as a very popular place.

Managed to reserve a table, it was October, first time lucky. My only complaint about Tapios is you have to ring after 4pm to book, there's no online reservation facility and it does get busy. Anyway, I'm over that now....I think. A couple of bottles of Garnacha Syrah at £19.95 and two Meze Plates at £11.20 was a very good start. Tapas is excellent and another 4 dishes and Patatas Bravas was ideal for 4 of us. Definitely be back next time we're in the area.

The staff were lovely they always came back to check on us. The food was delicious especially the chorizo in red wine and honey sauce. Service was very quick.

Wonderful Mediterranean restaurant. Always book for when we stay in Bowness, so looking forward again soon. We always go for the set Meze dishes, so tasty and more'ish. Andrew, the owner is a fantastic cook. Would recommend to anyone.

We were recommended this place by Holly Lodge where we stayed. It was that great we came 2 nights in a row. It had a lovely atmosphere and the food was delicious, it came out so quickly. The tropical sangria was real good. The staff were very friendly and made us feel comfortable. We will be back again :-)

We do love a tapas restaurant and this gem is one of the best we've been to. Faultless from start to finish. They could only fit us in at 8.30pm and we wouldn't normally eat that late but Tapios came so highly recommended we booked the slot. Everything was simply perfect. Excellent service. Food sublime. Loved the Spanish wine that accompanied our delicious food. The restaurant itself is very romantic. Can't recommend Tapios enough.

Went here at the weekend and were very pleased all round. Very good service and the food was absolutely delicious. We even ordered pittas afterwards to lap up the sauces from the dishes. Fantastic place. We will always try and book here whenever we come to the lakes.

Food is beautiful. Generous portions for the size and definitely recommend 2-3 plates each! Fresh, and super tasty. Meat is tender and not dry! Staff are lovely and welcoming and has a cosy atmosphere. One only thing to mention is if the booking system would be improved. We tried so many times/ways to book and ended up walking in for a booking and was told there was no tables past 6.45pm. then watched a table of 4 and 2 walk in around 7.30pm. Bit strange if the restaurant was full for bookings that don't seem to exist. Honestly, don't want the booking way to disservice that it's a very good restaurant.

Good evening- food was tasty & atmosphere was very pretty with candles & fairy lights. Service was good with staff being attentive. Recommend the garlic prawns, meze & mushrooms. The meatballs were very tasteless and weren’t great.

Absolutely fantastic food and service! Thoroughly enjoyed our meal, not a single part that I wouldn't recommend. Great Sangria too. We sat outside as a party of 4, turned up at 5pm when they opened to guarantee we'd get a spot, as they only have room outside for 5 tables of 2 (due to current Covid regs cannot sit indoors). So glad we did, was busy all evening but highly highly recommend a visit!

Outdoor at Windermere’s hidden gem was just amazing, amazing service from Cristian and the best tapas food ever. Loved our night here so much and can’t wait to return tomorrow night as we loved it so so much.

We have visited twice within a week over the festive period and both times we were absolutely impressed. Amazing service from the staff, special mention goes to Chloe who makes you feel so special and valued. The food was out of this world, the best tapas, amazing service and such a magical venue which adds to the experience. Easy to book, lovely selection on the menu, efficient and friendly service. Melitzanes and tzatziki arguably the best we’ve ever had! Highly recommended.

Portion size was great for tapas and the food was great. Staff were really nice and friendly. Felt like they genuinely cared and wasn't just asking questions because its their job. Would definitely visit again.

We decided on a tapas evening and settled on tapios. It was beyond our expectations and we left very full. All the food was very tasty, especially the chorizo and prawn, calamari and the beef dish. Alongside we had the rose sangria which was lovely. The staff were very friendly and attentive too.

We went tonight after a recommendation and so glad we did, the food was delicious and the atmosphere was great. We went for 8 and although we had to be out for 10 we didn't feel rushed. Special mention to Chloe who was professional but super friendly and clearly loved working there. Chloe was efficient but funny, we loved her banter without her being over friendly. A rare find in staff these days. We'll definitely recommend here xx

Our third night of four in Windermere was another success. The food was well flavoured and the atmosphere was fabulous. The food was perhaps not quite as refined as the two previous restaurants, but the atmosphere was a little more lively and exuberant. Of the dishes we had, thePatatas Bravas the Langostinos al Ajillo and the special which was Pan Fried Sea Bass were the most delicious. Another really enjoyable evening and once again service was excellent, no surprise as competition in Windermere and Bowness is clearly pretty stiff. Well done and thanks to the whole team.

Whole experience was amazing! Food was really good, especially the lamb. Santi was an excellent bar tender and his cocktails were lovely. Food came quickly and all the staff were very friendly. Would defiantly visit I again!

Spotted Tapios for lunch after a long walk. Wow, loved it, great pizza served in the box. Pint of Cruzcampo just a great lunch. Six of us, three different pizza and all hot and so tasty. Will be a regular stop off for us.

4 of us visited here during a trip to the Lakes. I found the restaurant on TripAdvisor and am so glad I did. The food was delicious, the atmosphere fabulous and the staff great. My husband and I had the Meat Meze and it was superb. Our friends went for the normal variety. There wasn’t a dish we didn’t enjoy and very little was left on the plates - and that was just because we were full!!! Everything was very well organised and Covid secure. The restaurant was busy, which was great to see too. We would certainly all return here and have no qualms about recommending Tapios to anyone who enjoys good food. They even had a chalkboard with my name in Spanish! (I think that was just a coincidence! Joy in Spanish is Alegría”)

Parecería que Tapios ha estado abierto durante al menos 3 años y no sé cómo nos lo perdimos y, da la casualidad, nos perdimos.Reservé una semana antes y fueron 6. 30 u 8 pm. Cuando llegamos a las 6. 30 pm, estaba bastante lleno y había un ambiente acogedor a pesar de que la puerta estaba abierta para brindar aire fresco en estos tiempos de Covid.Servicio realmente eficiente, una Garnacha Syrah decente y unas tapas realmente sabrosas. Yo diría que las gambas filo fueron quizás la única decepción, no muchas gambas.Seguro que volveremos aquí el año que viene.

The food and atmosphere in this place were amazing. Staff were brilliant, really attentive and friendly. The chorizo in honey and almond was absolutely to die for.

Lamentablemente, mi intento de cenar aquí se vio frustrado. Mi esposa y yo llegamos y estábamos felices de unirnos a una cola para una mesa y nos dijeron que tenían capacidad después de las 8 pm y que seríamos los próximos en sentarnos. Varios otros llegaron y se sentaron después de nosotros. Hablé con el joven de la puerta que no estaba contento de que me preguntaran por qué teníamos que esperar y luego se negó a permitirnos cenar en el restaurante. Es una pena que hayamos elegido este restaurante específicamente para la celebración de mi cumpleaños.

Amazing food and service. As a table of one, they didnt have to fit me in but were happy to do so regardless. An absolute must if you're in town.

A small, but excellent tapas restaurant. We ate here twice during the week and thoroughly enjoyed our meals. A good choice of dishes, very many of which are gluten free. Very good value. Service was very good. Thoroughly recommended.

OMG we were told this venue was popular and now we know why. The food was amazing, authentic tapas, fresh produce, wide range of choices that accommodated our needs (nut allergy, yeast intolerance, prawn allergy so we were not easy to feed). Staff were professional, had a strong knowledge of their menu so were able to discuss options supporting you to get the best out of the experience. We had fish, hummus, meatballs,, halloumi, prawn platter, chicken the list goes on as we went back a few times and were not disappointed. It was well worth the weight I know I have brought back with me. Book as it is very popular and when you do you won't be disappointed

We were lucky enough to get a table at Tapios on Sunday evening outside , 5 of us plus Hamish our dog .This is the 2nd time we have eaten there and the food was as fantastic as we had remembered from the 1st time .The staff were very friendly and attentive which is always nice especially under the current climate. The Covid measures in place were on point and upheld by all the staff which in turn made the whole dining experience feel safe but still enjoyable.Definitely recommend and will certainly dine there again, Shaun ,Hazel and family

Después de tantas buenas críticas, estábamos muy emocionados por nuestra visita. El ambiente era bastante agradable, pero desafortunadamente la comida y el vino fueron muy decepcionantes. Pedimos 6 platos de tapas (patatas bravas, chorizo, langostinos, ensalada de tomate y feta, halloumi y champiñones) y desafortunadamente tenían un sabor muy extraño, no estaban bien cocidos o ambos. Por ejemplo, la salsa para las patatas bravas y el chorizo era increíblemente dulce y el chorizo sabía más a frambuesa. El vino tinto que pedimos estaba aguado y casi imbebible. Es una pena, ya que lo estábamos esperando con muchas ganas.

Best restaurant we visited in Windermere. This was recommended by our air bnb host and we are so grateful it was! We had fabulous food, wine & beer. We went for the meat sharing mezze and had it split so it came as a starter and main. Every bit of food was fabulous! You need to book - you won’t regret it.

Wow,wow,wow,what can I say,food and ambience just amazing,we visited here on 1st night of our mini staycation,we were in the restaurant for 3 hours,that speaks for itself!!! We enjoyed the whole experience so much,we rebooked for our last night and enjoyed it just as much,anyone that has anything negative to say about this place is just moaning for the sake of it,they can not do enough for you

Reservamos Tapios después de leer las excelentes críticas y no nos decepcionó. Comida de calidad y para un restaurante de tapas, el tamaño de las porciones era grande, por lo que solo necesitábamos 5 tapas entre los dos. Todo vino a precios razonables y de calidad a buenos precios también. Fantástico servicio al cliente y sin prisas después de haber terminado nuestra comida dejándonos para terminar o vino y salvar el ambiente. Nos gustó tanto la experiencia en general que reservamos para una segunda noche, algo que nunca hacemos es comer dos veces en el mismo lugar. No tuvimos problemas para reservar una mesa en la que aparecimos en nuestros paseos diarios. Un gran restaurante y muy recomendable si lo tuyo son las tapas, el buen vino y el ambiente relajado.

Between the 3 of us we shared a number of the dishes, each one was lovely, full of flavour and each having it’s own distinctive flavour. A real delight and something different to the ‘normal’ restaurant experience.

Amazing meal. Superb service. Ate far too much but thoroughly enjoyed. Own a property in Spain so thoughtful we would try. Managed to get a table but struggled to get through on phone so after we checked in to hotel we walked down. Got a table for 8.30. So many people trying but sadly they were unlucky. Must book. Best tapas out of Spain we have ever had. Possibly need more Spanish wines and Spanish brandy to make more authentic.

We visited here on Saturday night with some friends and what an amazing experience. From a friendly safe welcome and sanitizer on the tables to the most friendly and helpful staff. And then the food was just fantastic along with the whole ambience. I can see now why all the guests I recommend to visit love it and we will be back again soon, thanks guys you have an amazing place and a five star experience overall

We visited here on Saturday evening and absolutely loved it. My wife and I shared the meat meze and it was sublime. If we lived closer we would definitely frequent this place!

I have visited the lakes on 2 occasions and both times eaten here - it is perfect! The food is so delicious, the restaurant setting is beautiful and the Rioja is fab! Staff are attentive and ensure you have all you need Highly recommend

We precooked here on the day and got a lovely table near the window. Lovely food and really good service . We really enjoyed the night and the restaurant is really pretty! Will recommended to all our friends when they visit!

We prebooked here for our anniversary meal and despite a slight mix up with our booking it was sensational, the atmosphere is great under the circumstances, the staff where brilliant and the food was sensational. We chose 6 dishes between us and I genuinely couldn’t tell you my favourite, the chorizo was fantastic, the lamb was amazing, the calamari was beautiful. Faultless and will definitely be returning. Well done everybody.

Absolutely disgusted by my visit , completed lack of manners by staff when greeted with no advice what to order. Felt as if we were rushed the whole time and looked down upon by the staff, food was mediocre would not recommend

I have been too Tapios several times b4 and took my son for his birthday I was so disappointed with the lack of service by the staff I was still eating my meal and the waitress started to remove our plates what appeared to be the person in charge showed a complete lack of interest or customer service when I asked him about meals on the menu after visiting over the last few years I will not be visiting again it completely ruined my son’s birthday.
