Tapios in South Lakeland

Good evening- food was tasty & atmosphere was very pretty with candles & fairy lights. Service was good with staff being attentive. Recommend the garlic prawns, meze & mushrooms. The meatballs were very tasteless and weren’t great.

Very comfortable setting, fab for watching the world go by. Food was delicious and service excellent. The olives and chilli's are essential 👌 Will definitely return for a longer evening without the family...want to sample the Sangria

Absolutely fantastic food and service! Thoroughly enjoyed our meal, not a single part that I wouldn't recommend. Great Sangria too. We sat outside as a party of 4, turned up at 5pm when they opened to guarantee we'd get a spot, as they only have room outside for 5 tables of 2 (due to current Covid regs cannot sit indoors). So glad we did, was busy all evening but highly highly recommend a visit!

Outdoor at Windermere’s hidden gem was just amazing, amazing service from Cristian and the best tapas food ever. Loved our night here so much and can’t wait to return tomorrow night as we loved it so so much.

We have visited twice within a week over the festive period and both times we were absolutely impressed. Amazing service from the staff, special mention goes to Chloe who makes you feel so special and valued. The food was out of this world, the best tapas, amazing service and such a magical venue which adds to the experience. We will be back when we are allowed to and will continue to recommend to our guests always. Thanks guys and Happy New Year

Easy to book, lovely selection on the menu, efficient and friendly service. Melitzanes and tzatziki arguably the best we’ve ever had! Highly recommended.

Portion size was great for tapas and the food was great. Staff were really nice and friendly. Felt like they genuinely cared and wasn't just asking questions because its their job. Would definitely visit again.

We decided on a tapas evening and settled on tapios. It was beyond our expectations and we left very full. All the food was very tasty, especially the chorizo and prawn, calamari and the beef dish. Alongside we had the rose sangria which was lovely. The staff were very friendly and attentive too.

Tapios is a fabulous place fantastic food, excellent service and a lovely atmosphere. This is by far the best place to eat and drink in Windermere.

Visited 1st time and will definitely return, most food gluten free, sangria great. Felt very comfortable with the covid restrictions. And made to feel welcome.

We went tonight after a recommendation and so glad we did, the food was delicious and the atmosphere was great. We went for 8 and although we had to be out for 10 we didn't feel rushed. Special mention to Chloe who was professional but super friendly and clearly loved working there. Chloe was efficient but funny, we loved her banter without her being over friendly. A rare find in staff these days. We'll definitely recommend here xx

Our third night of four in Windermere was another success. The food was well flavoured and the atmosphere was fabulous. The food was perhaps not quite as refined as the two previous restaurants, but the atmosphere was a little more lively and exuberant. Of the dishes we had, thePatatas Bravas the Langostinos al Ajillo and the special which was Pan Fried Sea Bass were the most delicious. Another really enjoyable evening and once again service was excellent, no surprise as competition in Windermere and Bowness is clearly pretty stiff. Well done and thanks to the whole team.

Whole experience was amazing! Food was really good, especially the lamb. Santi was an excellent bar tender and his cocktails were lovely. Food came quickly and all the staff were very friendly. Would defiantly visit I again!

Spotted Tapios for lunch after a long walk. Wow, loved it, great pizza served in the box. Pint of Cruzcampo just a great lunch. Six of us, three different pizza and all hot and so tasty. Will be a regular stop off for us.

4 of us visited here during a trip to the Lakes. I found the restaurant on TripAdvisor and am so glad I did. The food was delicious, the atmosphere fabulous and the staff great. My husband and I had the Meat Meze and it was superb. Our friends went for the normal variety. There wasn’t a dish we didn’t enjoy and very little was left on the plates - and that was just because we were full!!! Everything was very well organised and Covid secure. The restaurant was busy, which was great to see too. We would certainly all return here and have no qualms about recommending Tapios to anyone who enjoys good food. They even had a chalkboard with my name in Spanish! (I think that was just a coincidence! Joy in Spanish is Alegría”)

Lovely service, great music to create a Spanish ambience but unfortunately the food was far too salty, especially considering medical issues. Please reduce the salt you cook/ prepare food with. Thanks

we pre-booked a table here and all the tapas are especially good including the mussels - i would recommend the rose sangria too. the staff were friendly and accommodating. all rules were applied to for covid 19 also

The food and atmosphere in this place were amazing. Staff were brilliant, really attentive and friendly. The chorizo in honey and almond was absolutely to die for.

Nice food and pleasant staff, definatley need two to three dishes per person, dishes came out together which meant we finished sooner than we hoped.

Parecería que Tapios ha estado abierto durante al menos 3 años y no sé cómo nos lo perdimos y, da la casualidad, nos perdimos.Reservé una semana antes y fueron 6. 30 u 8 pm. Cuando llegamos a las 6. 30 pm, estaba bastante lleno y había un ambiente acogedor a pesar de que la puerta estaba abierta para brindar aire fresco en estos tiempos de Covid.Servicio realmente eficiente, una Garnacha Syrah decente y unas tapas realmente sabrosas. Yo diría que las gambas filo fueron quizás la única decepción, no muchas gambas.Seguro que volveremos aquí el año que viene.

Lamentablemente, mi intento de cenar aquí se vio frustrado. Mi esposa y yo llegamos y estábamos felices de unirnos a una cola para una mesa y nos dijeron que tenían capacidad después de las 8 pm y que seríamos los próximos en sentarnos. Varios otros llegaron y se sentaron después de nosotros. Hablé con el joven de la puerta que no estaba contento de que me preguntaran por qué teníamos que esperar y luego se negó a permitirnos cenar en el restaurante. Es una pena que hayamos elegido este restaurante específicamente para la celebración de mi cumpleaños.

Amazing food and service. As a table of one, they didnt have to fit me in but were happy to do so regardless. An absolute must if you're in town.

A small, but excellent tapas restaurant. We ate here twice during the week and thoroughly enjoyed our meals. A good choice of dishes, very many of which are gluten free. Very good value. Service was very good. Thoroughly recommended.

OMG we were told this venue was popular and now we know why. The food was amazing, authentic tapas, fresh produce, wide range of choices that accommodated our needs (nut allergy, yeast intolerance, prawn allergy so we were not easy to feed). Staff were professional, had a strong knowledge of their menu so were able to discuss options supporting you to get the best out of the experience. We had fish, hummus, meatballs,, halloumi, prawn platter, chicken the list goes on as we went back a few times and were not disappointed. It was well worth the weight I know I have brought back with me. Book as it is very popular and when you do you won't be disappointed

Booked well in advance as it is a very popular restaurant. Got a window table for two and enjoyed some sangria and a range of tapas. All delicious with great service. Will certainly visit again next time we are in the area.

We were lucky enough to get a table at Tapios on Sunday evening outside , 5 of us plus Hamish our dog .This is the 2nd time we have eaten there and the food was as fantastic as we had remembered from the 1st time .The staff were very friendly and attentive which is always nice especially under the current climate. The Covid measures in place were on point and upheld by all the staff which in turn made the whole dining experience feel safe but still enjoyable.Definitely recommend and will certainly dine there again, Shaun ,Hazel and family

Después de tantas buenas críticas, estábamos muy emocionados por nuestra visita. El ambiente era bastante agradable, pero desafortunadamente la comida y el vino fueron muy decepcionantes. Pedimos 6 platos de tapas (patatas bravas, chorizo, langostinos, ensalada de tomate y feta, halloumi y champiñones) y desafortunadamente tenían un sabor muy extraño, no estaban bien cocidos o ambos. Por ejemplo, la salsa para las patatas bravas y el chorizo era increíblemente dulce y el chorizo sabía más a frambuesa. El vino tinto que pedimos estaba aguado y casi imbebible. Es una pena, ya que lo estábamos esperando con muchas ganas.

Best restaurant we visited in Windermere. This was recommended by our air bnb host and we are so grateful it was! We had fabulous food, wine & beer. We went for the meat sharing mezze and had it split so it came as a starter and main. Every bit of food was fabulous! You need to book - you won’t regret it.

Wow,wow,wow,what can I say,food and ambience just amazing,we visited here on 1st night of our mini staycation,we were in the restaurant for 3 hours,that speaks for itself!!! We enjoyed the whole experience so much,we rebooked for our last night and enjoyed it just as much,anyone that has anything negative to say about this place is just moaning for the sake of it,they can not do enough for you

Reservamos Tapios después de leer las excelentes críticas y no nos decepcionó. Comida de calidad y para un restaurante de tapas, el tamaño de las porciones era grande, por lo que solo necesitábamos 5 tapas entre los dos. Todo vino a precios razonables y de calidad a buenos precios también. Fantástico servicio al cliente y sin prisas después de haber terminado nuestra comida dejándonos para terminar o vino y salvar el ambiente. Nos gustó tanto la experiencia en general que reservamos para una segunda noche, algo que nunca hacemos es comer dos veces en el mismo lugar. No tuvimos problemas para reservar una mesa en la que aparecimos en nuestros paseos diarios. Un gran restaurante y muy recomendable si lo tuyo son las tapas, el buen vino y el ambiente relajado.

Between the 3 of us we shared a number of the dishes, each one was lovely, full of flavour and each having it’s own distinctive flavour. A real delight and something different to the ‘normal’ restaurant experience.

Me and my partner visited the restaurant for tapas. The food was outstanding and reasonably priced. The staff were all very friendly too. If we were to return to Windermere we would definitely return here

Amazing meal. Superb service. Ate far too much but thoroughly enjoyed. Own a property in Spain so thoughtful we would try. Managed to get a table but struggled to get through on phone so after we checked in to hotel we walked down. Got a table for 8.30. So many people trying but sadly they were unlucky. Must book. Best tapas out of Spain we have ever had. Possibly need more Spanish wines and Spanish brandy to make more authentic.

We visited here on Saturday evening and absolutely loved it. My wife and I shared the meat meze and it was sublime. If we lived closer we would definitely frequent this place!

We visited here on Saturday night with some friends and what an amazing experience. From a friendly safe welcome and sanitizer on the tables to the most friendly and helpful staff. And then the food was just fantastic along with the whole ambience. I can see now why all the guests I recommend to visit love it and we will be back again soon, thanks guys you have an amazing place and a five star experience overall

I have visited the lakes on 2 occasions and both times eaten here - it is perfect! The food is so delicious, the restaurant setting is beautiful and the Rioja is fab! Staff are attentive and ensure you have all you need Highly recommend

Visited here last night to celebrate a friends birthday. Friendly staff and excellent service nothing was too much trouble. Best tapas I’ve eaten by far. I would highly recommend. Thanks Tapios for making our evening so enjoyable and not disappointing us.

We precooked here on the day and got a lovely table near the window. Lovely food and really good service . We really enjoyed the night and the restaurant is really pretty! Will recommended to all our friends when they visit!

We prebooked here for our anniversary meal and despite a slight mix up with our booking it was sensational, the atmosphere is great under the circumstances, the staff where brilliant and the food was sensational. We chose 6 dishes between us and I genuinely couldn’t tell you my favourite, the chorizo was fantastic, the lamb was amazing, the calamari was beautiful. Faultless and will definitely be returning. Well done everybody.

I have been too Tapios several times b4 and took my son for his birthday I was so disappointed with the lack of service by the staff I was still eating my meal and the waitress started to remove our plates what appeared to be the person in charge showed a complete lack of interest or customer service when I asked him about meals on the menu after visiting over the last few years I will not be visiting again it completely ruined my son’s birthday.

Absolutely disgusted by my visit , completed lack of manners by staff when greeted with no advice what to order. Felt as if we were rushed the whole time and looked down upon by the staff, food was mediocre would not recommend

Enjoyed my tapas meal and the desert was yummy! Ideally located in Winderemere near to my B&B. Definitely book as this is a fairly small restaurant.

Pre-booked our meal for a romantic weekend away in Windermere. The restaurant was very busy. We were shown to our table straight away.Waited approx 10-15mins for drinks order to be taken/arrive even though we were sat opposite the bar & could see our drinks on the bar.Ordered 6 dishes to share. 5 of which were perfect for sharing unfortunately the prawn and chorizo dish only had 3 prawns. When the waiter finally asked us if everything was ok with our meal as he cleared the plates I explained that there could have been an even number of prawns i.e 4 firstly as tapas is a sharing dish and secondly the price of £7.95. He went onto explain 150g of chorizo and 150g of prawns but didn’t apologise. When the bill arrived I was surprised at the price for a pint of San Miguel being £6.45 when pre-COVID 19 visited London and never paid over £6 in restaurants.Left feeling disappointed

Actually we’re lucky to find a free table on Saturday night. Probably pre-COVID times this place were able to accommodate more people as tables are nicely spread out making dining comfortable.Before ordering your food, I recommend ordering sangria. They have white, pink and red options. Everyone probably has their own preference, but I found red pleasing my taste buds the most. Don’t get me wrong - other two were nice as well.Depending on hunger level, you can order some starters - we had typical set of hummus, pita, salad, olives and yoghurt sauce. Nice set (with sangria obviously) to prepare your taste buds for what is about to follow.For main we had Chorizo con gambas, Langustinos al Ajillo and Meat meze. For two it was plenty (of course if you usually order two main courses in restaurant, this might not be enough). Chorizo together with king prawns are served in nice slightly spicy sauce, prawns in slightly peppery sauce and meat meze...well...that’s actually set of 4 tapas (meatballs, beef in tomato sauce, chicken in creamy mushroom sauce and oven baked potatoes).Long story short - I’ll be going back for more

We arrived at the restaurant relatively early on a Tuesday evening and it was pretty empty apart from a couple of tables which were fairly well spaced but when you took into account chairs being pulled out and sat in, you were quite close to the next table. The waiter initially tried to put us next to the first table but seeing this I asked if we could sit somewhere else. Dispute this he was very accommodating, maybe could see I was anxious with my young family, and seated us where I asked after checking his booking form. The restaurant is cosy but I felt safe and well spaced and all staff wore masks. The toilets were cramped but it was well signed that it was a one person facility and there were plenty of hand gel stops. Apart from some dippy customers, we felt safe going to the toilets which were very clean. The food was lovely although not the best tapas we’ve ever had, but all the same it was very nice and I would definitely recommend it. I always find tapas expensive however for a family of four with an alcoholic drink for each adult and a fizzy and fruit juice for the children £20 a head is pretty decent to be honest.

Booked a table over the phone in the morning for an evening reservation,no problem when arrived, escorted to an inside high table where we ordered drinks and waited for our table to be prepared. The staff followed the current covid regulations and the service was fine and the food even better. But towards the end of our meal an elderly gentleman walked into the restaurant and started moving tables and chairs about, picking up the spray sanitizer and cloth and walking amongst the customers with no mask and cleaning down. At first I thought it was just some randomer who was unhappy with waiting for a table but after 5 mins kind of guessed he may of been the owner,well I hope hope he was the owner. Normally this type of stuff I wouldn't have blinked at but in these testing times I thought it was a bit off.Fortunately we were all but done so we got our bill and left,the actions of this man certainly undermined the service that the staff had provided,the food which now became secondary was really really nice btw,so if you do go in hopefully lessons will have been learned and both the food and service will be as before he turned up.

Visited last year and enjoyed it, so booked again, well in advance with email confirmation. Arrived promptly to be told we didn’t have a reservation. Couldn’t evidence it on the evening as limited access to email but despite my assurances that I HAD booked, was informed I hadn’t and (even if I could prove the reservation) there was nothing they would do about it other than offer us a table which we would have to vacate in 45 minutes. Needless to say we declined. Found the email the following day and forwarded - see photo - but received no apology or even a response. Fortunately we didn’t go hungry as San Pietro has a cancellation and we enjoyed a fantastic meal there. Disappointing experience, mistakes happen but the attitude was poor and has been reinforced by the lack of acknowledgment of error. I suspect that they get so much passing trade that they couldn’t care less about repeat business. Would go back for the food but couldn’t trust with a reservation so won’t bother. Book at your own risk!

We were recommended to dine here by the owners of local Guest house, Glen Wynne and we were not disappointed. I had made a booking by telephone a couple of weeks previous so on arrival, we were seated at our reserved table in the window. We were served promptly by a friendly, attentive waitress who adhered to current COVID guidelines.The tapas we chose was second to none and could not be faulted.The portions were made with fresh ingredients and were generous. The jug of Sangria was very tasty and went down a treat.If you fancy a taste and ambiance of Spain, whilst in Windermere, a visit here is a must.

Loved our meal at Tapios. The food was delicious. I was impressed with their covid measures, unlike a lot of other places around Windermere. All staff wearing masks, social distancing, lots of hand gel and disinfecting tables. The staff were very friendly too. Best meal on our holiday!

Great little restaurant, serving delicious Spanish tapas. Every dish we had was amazing, washed down with a jug of sangria! Highly recommend this place. They were also taking lots of measures for Covid.

Tapios is your typical tapas bar but with good veggie options. We went in on day 2 and returned twice here. Due to lockdown/ restrictions everything was based on pre-bookings and not surprisingly most slots were going very quickly. The food was very good and the staff courteous. Only item I could get them to do better is probably the sauce for the patatas bravas.

Excellent find in Windermere! We were staying in Windermere for 3 nights and came to Tapios for the second and third nights of our stay we enjoyed it so much. The choice of tapas is amazing, with fabulous, authentic, Spanish dishes. The aubergine and lamb dishes were two of the most delicious I have ever had anywhere, including Spain! The food is very reasonably priced too. Even though the restaurant had very strict Covid-19 safeguarding measures in place, the atmoshphere was still buzzing and lively. The wine selection is impressive and the service professional and friendly. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys good food and drink in a lively atmosphere - booking is essential!

Had evening meal here on Saturday night, it was very busy and popular. Sat outside. Food was beautiful drank lots of espresso martinis and danced to the wonderful music. Ended up staying a lot longer than we thought fe to this and the staff were amazing well worth a visit!!! I will be back

What an amazing meal! It truly felt like we were in Spain, the atmosphere was so relaxed even with the social distancing and masks in place. After long we didn’t even notice. First things first a chilled jug of sangria served in one of the ceramic jugs you’d get on holiday, Spanish music playing the background...we were actually in the South of Spain!Then on to the tapas, they suggested 3 each and that was perfect. Meatballs, calamari, prawns and chorizo... And you have to try the halloumi, 3 pieces of grilled heaven! We finished an incredible night with cocktails which were the cherry on the cake. We couldn't believe our luck when we saw there was a tapas restaurant in Windermere and booked it up before our stay. We were not disappointed the food was amazing and very authentic. Brilliant flavours and choices of dishes all served to a very high standard. The chaps running the restaurant worked tirelessly yet nothing was too must trouble. We loved it so much we went back for a second time on our last night. A must visit but best to book as was very busy.

Had the pleasure of eating here recently and wouldn't hesitate to recommend; the food was very very good, we can recommend the meatballs, halloumi, chicken kebabs, tsatziki & pitta bread - all delicious.Spacing of tables was good and staff wearing masks to offer customer reassurance.This is a busy restaurant with a nice vibe (shame there was one customer who appeared to have had too much to drink).

Visited tapios yesterday as we went last year and was blown away as to how lovely it was so as we were only in the lakes for 2 nights we were so keen to eat there again, but left feeling its now been tainted unfortunately.We ordered and the food suspiciously arrived in about 5 minutes. It all mustve been reheated as nearly all our dishes were tepid, we even had different temperatures of meat in the same dish. When we mentioned it to a waitress she apologised but never relayed it, we had to mention it again to another before the management were told. He gave us a slight discount but im afraid we wont be going back. It wasnt half as good as last year....sorry tapios.

We were staying in Windermere for two nights. We had gone past this lovely place on our first night having missed it and vouched to go back for our tea the next night and we’re so glad we did. We were greeted by a very friendly member of staff and quickly had our food and drinks ordered. The food is incredible. I highly recommend the chorizo and meatballs. The halloumi is also really really good. It has a lovely chilled atmosphere, and we were really well looked after.

Very quaint nice place. I always love tapas as I don’t get it often so it’s a nice treat. Staff very welcoming and look after you well. Had a gin and it was presented nicely and they make their drinks look lovely! The decor and atmosphere I personally loved it!! We got about 3 dishes each. It was all so lovely and I really enjoyed it. It was a lot of food so sadly couldn’t finish it all but it was lovely and nicely presented. The halloumi was to die for and the chicken in white wine sauce. I will definitely go back when I’m visiting at the lakes again.

Booked a table for a Saturday night. Was busy but not overcrowded to say it was a small restaurant. Food came quickly and was excellent. We had the set menu which worked out cheaper than picking dishes each. Not a great selection of beers but then again it was a tapas place. Staff were helpful and friendly.

Fantastic drinks and tapas menu! I ate here alone whilst on business and the restaurant had such a nice atmosphere with background music and the staff were great. I ate at the table in the window which was fab and thoroughly enjoyed their rose sangria. Felt like a real treat!

We chose the set Meat Meze and were treated to a fantastic selection of excellent and tasty dishes. Ample food for 2!

We were the first ones there but it hadn’t been open long and soon filled up. We got three dishes each, the service was really good and food and drinks came out very fast, I couldn’t fault it at all and would definitely recommend to anyone visiting the area! If you want to eat after 6:30 I would advise booking a table.

We shared the set tapas meal - excellent variety with a cold platter - followed by 3 or 4 hot dishes. Very tasty and more than ample for 2 people. Great atmosphere and very popular - probably need to book at busier times of the year.

Went to Tapios for the second time. Very friendly restaurant. The food is beautiful cooked and very tasty. There is a good menu with lots of choice.

My sister recently announced her engagement and as maid of honour, i was asked to arrange a hen ‘weekend’ in Windermere.... one of the evenings activities was to consist of a meal out, my partner and I trawled all around every restaurant in Bowness (only to be told they either couldn’t accommodate 14 people or they could only cater for us at 5pm or 9pm! So off we went feeling a little despondent but, fortunately for me I spotted Tapios on the way out of Windermere, it was closed at the time so as soon as I got home I looked on the website and contacted them to see if we could eat here, I got a prompt response to say ‘no problem’, the fact that there were14 of us just wasn’t an issue so, I booked us in then and there.

We came here with my boyfriend to have a nice dinner which unfortunately didn’t happen. The service was ok but not the best. We ordered a few things from the menu but most of them tasted frozen(which we realised later on is true as we’ve seen one of the waiters buying some frozen stuff from the sainsbury’s cross the road). He’s not a picky eater at all but couldn’t finish his mussels so had to send it back. At the end they were nice and took it off from the bill but it was still too expensive for what we received. I wouldn’t necessarily come back.

Now we came here a couple of years ago and left a 5* review.

Visited on Saturday night for son’s birthday. Would advise booking as can get busy. Had the best tapas meal. Started with tzatsiki and hummus with pitta. Shared chorizo with red wine in a lovely sweet sauce. Meatballs in tomato with a slight spicy kick but not too much. Lamb in minty sauce. Chicken skewers which were lovely. King prawn garlic, would have liked fresh garlic in this dish. Patatas bravado’s. Place was buzzing and service was great. Washed down with a lovely Sicilian red.

Had a great meal in this small but lively restaurant. Staff were excellent pleased to see the no dog rule was enforced as well. Food was of a very high standard will see come back here thank you.

This restaurant has a wonderful atmosphere, and the food is out of this world! Friendly staff, too. Couldn’t fault it at all!

Wonderful service, friendly staff, beautiful surroundings for a nice relaxed meal. Food was outstanding and the sangria was gorgeous, thank you all for a fantastic evening!

Had a lovely meal for my boyfriend’s birthday. Shared the meat meze which was amazing. Great service and wine too. We’ll definitely be back.

We love tapas, but the issue with this place is it's just not got the soul of proper Spanish cuisine. It was all well cooked and presented nicely but it was lacking any seasoning, spices and the garlic we are used to. It all just felt toned down, I liked it but it needs more umpf!
