Good pub, good outside space, good beer

Decent ales but no food despite being advertised. Was starving too!

So much love for this place, love music, friendly team and a superb covered heating area for us smokers and non smokers alike.

We went to this pub to watch a band, Ricochet. Great atmosphere and great service. The couple serving were polite and had the job nailed with no queues. It was great to see people happy in their work. Would definitely call again when in the area

Layla makes the most AMAZING cocktails. All proper ingredients. Mixed in front of you. DELICIOUS Don’t miss out on this lovely pub and brilliant cocktail bar. Very nice staff.

Lovely modern bar and like all of Kendals buildings will have a story to tell. Really good selection of local cask ales at very good prices (£3.70 a pint of Swan) , friendly welcoming staff and dog friendly which is a bonus .

A quick few beers in Kendal again, this an OK place located in the centre, nothing amazing but fine for a few bevies when in town!

What a great place to meet up with friends, nice atmosphere and plenty of space outside in good weather. Don't worry if it's raining there are under cover areas on both sides of the yard as well as room inside. The food is good & well presented and the toilets are first class.They also have live music on most Fridays I believe, in fact this week it was a group called the Black Sheep who were rather good. Update, 2023, there are now new owners and they no longer do food, but the other comments have not changed. .

Kendal Weekend - 23/02/24 - Cumbrian Ales: Loweswater Gold 4.3% and Lancaster Brewery: Lancaster Blonde 4%. I must say the pint of Loweswater Gold was exceptional!

Went for the otentik night. Fabulous food from them. Good beer and cocktails from the bar.

Excellent bar, loved the cocktail menu. Dog friendly was the crowning touch. Drinks were great, live music was fun, staff were friendly and super helpful. Will definitely visit again if I’m in the area!

We came here from Manchester on a weekend away and so glad we came upon this place. Lovely venue with a brilliant outside area...me and the missus spent the late afternoon soaking up the sun! Staff were fantastic and really friendly...the Aperol Spritz and Gin Fizz we can highly recommend. They don't do food, but apparently are soon going to start again. Best surprise was the live music...there was a great band on in the evening...think they were called Big Trouble. Apologies to the band and staff for having to witness our dancing but we loved it! Can't recommend this bar enough! Definitely worth a visit!

My wife and I popped into this bar for drinks on a couple of occasions during our recent visit to Kendal. This pub has a really good beer garden through the back with lots of space, tables and chairs. On our first visit we were lucky to go when the Sauvignon blanc was on offer at £4.50 for a large glass and it only cost me £2.95 for a a pint of IPA. Coming from Edinburgh where you regularly pay £6 for a pint I was in beer heaven. The bar staff were grand pouring drinks with a smile. All in all a very good bar with lovely outside space.

We didn't get food, but the drinks were nice, couldn't keep ourselves on the chairs though, why they so slippy? 🤣 Thanks for the lime!

Great choice of drinks and special offer on wines and beers during Coronation weeks was a great touch by the new owner. Glad it is back open.

Lovely friendly staff in here serving up tasty local beers and a decent spirit selection. Definitely worth a visit. Their yard is nice in the sun too

Beer selection is small but pretty good. The outdoor seating area is probably the best in town, providing loads of quality seating and most under cover. Look out for reduced prices on real ale on Monday and Tuesday!! Would be 5 stars but they can't get a chef at the moment. Shame... used to do nice food. Definitely one of the pubs to visit if doing a tour of the hostelries

Great place to visit and enjoy the beers

They no longer do food but the way I was turned away and told to go elsewhere instead of offered a drink just felt rude. The staff member was busy talking, seemed disinterested and just told us to go somewhere else bluntly. I was in around 12pm if you want to stop this gent damaging your business. Disappointing as in the past the staff and food have been lovely, now both are lacking. I’ll save that guy a job, cut out the middle man and tell you to also go elsewhere, i ate at the fleece where the food and staff were both fantastic

Never ever again. We sat outside and was told to be inside by 21:30pm, no issue with that but we were spoken to in an incredibly rude manner. The gentleman in question then spoke to another group in exactly the same manner! We went inside to finish our drinks as we watched the same person demand that people move out of his way. He was rightfully questioned about this and politely told to use the phrase “excuse me” he said he previously said this to the customer. He had not. He was confrontational to the customer. All night we watched this same gentlemen speak poorly to people. We along with many others in the bar will never return to this establishment based on his actions. We have previously frequented this bar without issue and compliments to the young girl behind the bar who served to an excellent standard. Regretfully, this vile man will run this place into the ground,

Brilliant place. We visited a couple of years ago when it had recently opened. On this visit I could not remember where it was and then came across this place. Found it. Still as good as I remembered.

Cant find any chefs so they dont do food anymore which is a shame as it was good pre Covid. Just a pub now which is a shame.

New Manager who now allows dog into the bar.No food available at this pub.Easy access to toilets on ground floor and outside seating areas to rear of pub, all on ground level.Good selection of beers and spirits and shows sporting events on main bar tv.

Nice place. I was there on a Tues evening so quite quiet but friendly atmosphere. Offer on a Tues of £1 off a pint so an absolute bargain. Very clean toilets too

A modern bar. Not my usual type of boozer but very comfortable with excellent real ales. Will certainly go again if I'm in the area.

Clean and tidy. Willing bar staff. Meeting friends at lunch time but only stayed for coffee. Looks good enough to return for drinks & a bite to eat.

No longer serve food. The menu looked amazing but when we arrived we were told they no longer serve food so I am not sure if this is due to the current situation with Covid, because it was Monday or if it was the way it is going forward so it would be good if the website was updated.

4 of us ate there. a week ago .The food was of a poor standard ( avoid the calamari folks ) and the waitress and her team leader were barely able to muster anything like a rictus grin let alone smile. If you are tempted to try this place then lie down in a darkened room until it passes.

Spot on, really welcoming. The ladies doing front of house were working hard, smiling and really engaging. The food was great and pretty quick. They asked the kitchen if they could deal with us as a walk in, which is really sensible and clearly ensures the standards are maintained. Great beer choice also. Tip top.

We found this place by chance after our hotel's restaurant was fully booked. It was super value with delicious food, great real ales at discounted prices, and very friendly service. So good we went there both nights.

Really really good food here. I had the Cheese and Onion Pie with 'Shoestring' chips and enjoyed every bit of it. Even the veg! The menu is quite varied and looks to cater for lots of different diets. I really enjoyed the garlic bread and Chicken 'popcorn' as well as the calamari. I don't see any sign of discrimination nor bad food as other reviews have suggested. Though I did visit on a Tuesday afternoon so there was no rushing the cooking staff 😁. Thank you for making our trip to Kendal so lovely.

Just OK, would have been 2 star but for a lovely dessert.

Absolute gem of a place, nestled at the bottom of the main shopping area in Kendal, staff were lovely found us a table when we hadn’t booked and really made that extra effort. Big shout out to Sally, really made our stay special and the recommended Chicken Skewers are a must, great food prepared fresh and good selection of ales and drinks

The place was lovely on entry, we were taken to our seats and given the menu, all good. The waitress took our order, all good. Then the guy behind the bar, tall skinny lad, put the drinks on the table, slammed them down without a single word, he did this several times throughout our meal, just put the drinks down, nothing said. When it got round to paying I had to attract the waitress for the bill, we were sitting there about 10 minutes after our meal without anyone coming over. Tbh we were glad to be out. The food was nice, that's not at fault. The fault was the service, needs touching up, regardless of how busy it is, manners to the customer is always top. We weren't even asked if our food was OK or not. We'll be going back, but just for drinks, not again for the food. Pedro's and fleece Inn are definite better options in my opinion

The ale was really well kept with some great local choices. The food wasn't great sadly. The chips were not home made, not was the pizza and the burger was soggy throughout. Not a place I could recommend for food but I could recommend for a nice pint.

There aren't many options to eat out in Kendal on a Sunday night but Mason's Yard was an excellent choice. Friendly and efficient service and excellent food.

Second visit to Masons and again all excellent. Service was very good friendly and attentive, had the fish and chips and calamari all well presented. Clean and nice seating areas including outside space excellent value for money, will be back.

Called up last minute and managed to get a table. The food, staff and atmosphere were excellent, I cannot rate it highly enough. A venue running a great covid secure service that is an asset to the local community. I would highly recommend this place...

Would not have found this place if I had not googled first. Tucked away down a sidestreet its very unimposing. Yet the service was exceptional before we even got to food with nothing being too much bother. Was looking for a Sunday roast and this was exceptional. A mix of beef and chicken, with seasonal veg on the side with full flavour. Roast potatoes crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Perfection. The mason mess for dessert which was to die for. No pretences here, just solid good food at a great price! I will be back.

Absolute stunning place, staff make you feel so welcome, Beautiful 3 course meal an the food was cooked to perfection. Anyone ever in lakes an fancy a lovely meal away from the hustle and bustle then this place is well worth the quick 25 minute drive. Would definitely return if ever visit lakes again. Just cannot fault it and not to pricey whatsoever. Lovely evening and thankyou to sally who couldn't of done any more.

So good last weekend we returned this weekend. Fast and friendly service from all. Some tables are under shelter with heaters. Food was excellent and great value for money with small plates available. Will definitely visit again.

Rang a week before to book in for 2nd May, was informed that no need to book and venue wasn't taking bookings, the person on the phone advised their was plenty of outdoor covered space.. arrived after explaining we'd be traveling from Midlands nearly 3 hrs drive to be fronted by a very rude staff member who completely contradicted booking policy and made my 13 ye old kid and my wife feel so uncomfortable that whilst waiting for a table they felt so uncomfortable, they left both citing an obvious negative reaction to their ethnicity as no other logical explanation could be offered for the rude staff behaviour. Ended up going Romney's instead which was so welcoming and pleasant.

Delicious food, friendly staff, good spacing between tables and an easy one-way system. The Stilton mushrooms were amazing, and the steak & ale pie was delicious with really tender steak and a generous serve of rich gravy.

Family friendly, COVID-safe. The food is fresh and delicious. Garlic mushrooms and cauliflower soup were standout items.

Stopped by for lunch- the quality of the food was excellent. Ordered the hunter’s chicken- big portion & good quality ingredients. Cannot rate highly enough. If I hadn’t been so full, I’d have gone back again for dinner!!!
