Kings Head in South Lakeland

Only had a couple of drinks here as we were on our way for our tea. The lady at the bar was very chatty and friendly, put us all in a great mood. The bar was busy, it had a great vibe and we all had a really nice time.

Dirty grubby and smells like they have a sewage problem somewhere and to top it off they've hiked their drink prices up to a premium.....maybe to get rid of the local coke gangs that where always in there ....really won't be going in here again now ITS AN ABSOLUTE DUMP

Young man named Martin works there and he made us feel welcome, beer was great and his tips of the best places to visit were spot on!

Stopped for a quick lunch, went for the beetroot & feta salad, OH had one of the hot sandwiches. Both very tasty need to come back and try the Thai evening. Staff were attentive, welcoming & pleasant.

Thai dinner cooked to order. The sizes of the dishes were great value for money and had that really authentic Thai taste. I suppose having a Thai chef helps. Will visit again.

Kings Head is a great local pub with plenty of real ales. It also has a great bowling club out the back, all welcome!

The Kings Head is a decent old pub. The furnishings and decor are of the traditional style but, typical of Marstons, are probably overdue a bit of refurbishment. The pub is clearly a popular “local” and it’s easy to see why. There is nothing twee or pretentious about it; it’s an ordinary boozer with good service, music and a telly or two. In short, a nice place to chill over a couple of pints.

Visited Ulverston for the day. I like this pub, it's cosy and a bit "Olde Worlde" which is my cup of tea. Only had a couple of pint shandies, and sat in the window watching the world go by.

Stayed in Ulverston for a few days last summer with some family and stumbled on this lovely little pub whilst exploring the town. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Service was lovely and the pub had a real family feel to it. Will defiantly visit again next time in the Lake District.

Lovely food and drink here! Surprised that it was so empty (though it is January!) the food really was tasty and I thoroughly enjoyed the garlic soup of the day. My partner would also like to say he loved his chicken wings and burger too. Lovely service from both the staff and had a nice chat whilst settling up. Would recommend

Not in the same league as many of the other cask beer pubs we visited on our tour of Ulverston. Quite an "eclectic" crowd in here. Prices were fair though.

Fell in to this place because it was empty ish! Lovely welcoming, beautiful cider! And dog friendly! Couldn't ask for much more. Staff where lovely and welcoming!!

The bar staff were really friendly and really helpful, they couldn’t do enough. We sampled the Thai food, starter with a main course. The food was seriously tasty. We will definitely going back soon.

The King's Head is a proper, friendly, traditional pub. It doesn't do food, but for somewhere to go and chill over a pint or two after a busy day, it's perfect. There are plenty of other places in Ulverston to eat after you've chilled in the King's Head!

Two lads on the bar were great. Very friendly and knowledgeable on the ales. Happy to allow beer and wine to be tried before bought and very dog friendly. Bea, chef, does amazing Thai food and I highly recommend the Tom Yum soup, the Thai fish cakes and the Green Thai Curry! Super friendly pub, well worth a visit for both her and food.

Last night it was like a worldwide government over-reaction to a global pandemic had never happened. Not a mask in sight, queues at the bar, mirth and merriment all around. As we learn to live with a virus for which every vulnerable person has been "vaccinated", it's nice to have our freedom back and The 'Little Kings' is just just the place to visit. You can even watch people practicing the art of crown green bowling as there's a green at the back of the beer garden. Contact the Secretary of the Kings Head Bowling Club to roll some yourself at £5 per person.

Had the pleasure of having a few beers here on friday with some friends. The atmosphere was nice and relaxed and service was excellent. Our server Brianna was a credit to the establishment and made sure to not only take our order but to throw in some light hearted banter and laughes along the way. Overall would recommend to anyone looking for a nice relaxing place to rest in Ulverston.

While my friends and I had stumbled into this fine establishment seeking refreshment of the intoxicating kind, we were delightfully surprised to find not only a great array of beverages but the bar staff were also delightfully surprising. Brianna had been the one to serve our drinks for the evening and although a mask was worn it was clear she takes service with a smile as serious as life or death, ensuring we never had to wait for the next beverage and throwing in some of her own banter so neither our pallets or crack went dry, a true merit to the establishment.

Great bar, had nice quiet drinks with a couple of mates, server brianna was great, not only did she make sure our drinks kept flowing she also had banter and a laugh with us while doing so. Her customer service was outstanding and deserves a promotion 😁

OMG! The food , the service , the staff!!!! We are on holiday here and every night we have been in for drinks. The staff are very attentive and extremely pleasant. They remember what you order and are happy to help and please you. We ate here tonight and both my husband and I could not finish our meals. The steaks were enormous. A real gem ! We intend to visit daily and suggest everyone give it a try. You will not be disappointed.

He estado bebiendo en Kings Head (Lal Kings) Ulvertson durante aproximadamente 4 años, así que decidí llevarme a Friends de regreso a casa la última vez y ¡qué basura absoluta se ha convertido, así que asumiré una nueva administración nuevamente! ! Luego nos sentamos afuera y Barman en sus últimos 50 s / 60 con canas, posiblemente el Gerente venga a tomar nuestro pedido. Mis dos amigos piden ron y coca cola y le pregunté qué ginebra tenía disponible. Su respuesta fue "¡Tenemos 100 s, no puedo molestarme en nombrarlos todos!" Muy buen compañero de ayuda y excelente servicio al cliente. ¿Cuándo llegó el pedido había 4 bebidas? 2 ron y refrescos según lo pedido y 2 gin tonics, pero solo pedimos 3 bebidas ya que 3 personas no están seguras de qué fue tan difícil con el pedido y la ronda fue de 20, así que mi amigo regresó al bar para informar que había incluido una bebida adicional. y nos cobraron de más. El barman se puso muy mal y se quejó de cómo habría recuperado el costo y solo nos dio un 2. 80 reembolso, pero el G&T costaría casi cinco dólares, por lo que todavía nos cobraron de más y ¡el error del barman no es nuestro! ! . Luego nos dijo que cenáramos nuestras bebidas y nos fuéramos después de estas bebidas cuando fuimos educados en nuestra queja.Realmente me revuelve cómo los negocios basados en el cliente pueden ser tan desorientados, poco acogedores y groseros con las personas que quieren sentarse y gastar dinero en su establecimiento. Fue una terrible bienvenida con la camarera enojada gritándonos agresivamente que usáramos el desinfectante de manos. Todos nos estamos adaptando a estas nuevas reglas de COVID - 19 y es fácil olvidar las cosas que no son normales pero que no tienen por qué ser tan desagradables. El barman (posiblemente el propietario) tomó nuestra orden de bebidas y agregó una bebida extra, así que la devolví. Al recibir mi reembolso por la bebida extra, me dijeron que ya no nos serviría y que teníamos que terminar nuestras bebidas y marcharnos. Probablemente avergonzado de que arruinó la orden, pero fue una respuesta muy mezquina e inmadura. Son tiempos difíciles para los negocios en estos días, debería tratar a los clientes con más aprecio y respeto.

Llamé aquí en nuestro camino para una comida para mi cumpleaños. El nuevo propietario estaba dando algunos toques nuevos al lugar y nos contaba sus nuevos planes para el lugar. Terminamos quedándonos por más de uno como lo habíamos planeado. El pub tenía un ambiente agradable y limpio y está claramente en las manos adecuadas. Regresamos el sábado como un grupo grande después de una comida y terminamos quedándonos aquí por la noche para mi 50 cumpleaños. El ambiente era brillante, la música era retro y encajaba bien con el pequeño lugar único en el que el personal era muy amable y acogedor. Los precios eran correctos. Ahora hay comida disponible que tenemos que probar. Estamos ansiosos por ver los nuevos cambios y ver el pozo recuperado a su antigua gloria. Muy bien recomendado

Apareció para tomar un trago rápido, principalmente para salir de la lluvia, terminó teniendo un momento realmente fabuloso. El KA tiene un ambiente verdaderamente acogedor y relajante, a diferencia de muchos de los pubs alrededor de Ulverston. Opciones de calidad en el menú, algo que seguramente complacerá a la paleta más exigente. Tripulación muy amable, el propio chef incluso vino a comprobar que habíamos tenido una buena comida, no debería haber estado preocupado. Icing on the cake son los músicos residentes que tocaron la guitarra y cantaron un fantástico set en vivo, calidad de nuevo. No me puedo quejar, definitivamente volvería a visitar cuando esté en la zona. Recomendar a cualquiera que le guste la buena comida en un ambiente relajado y agradable. 10/10!

Best homemade burger I’ve had since I was in my dads ball sack, burger was juicy and had immense seasoning, salad selection was spot on, not too much not too little, compliments to the chef.

Las porciones son realmente pequeñas y la calidad se insinúa en el encabezado anterior: era como pescado barato en el supermercado con chips de horno y un poco de ensalada poco atractiva. La otra comida era tortilla con papas fritas y la porción nuevamente era minúscula, como una porción de un menú para niños. La tortilla era comestible pero sin sabor real y las patatas fritas nuevamente una decepción, junto con una ensalada ridículamente pequeña y suave. Los precios están en la parte alta de lo que pagarías en otro lugar en Ulverston, sin embargo, por este tipo de dinero en otros lugares, obtendrías porciones de buen tamaño y comida decente y de calidad. Sé que este lugar recién está comenzando con la comida, pero realmente tendrán que cambiar algo tanto en precio como en calidad si van a recuperarnos nuevamente. Salimos casi tan hambrientos como cuando entramos y volvimos a casa para comenzar a cocinar una comida justo después de comer en el pub. El personal era amable y ale bien.

lovely little beer garden out the back, stayed there most of the afternoon as managed to get a large table and there was about 20 of ud so worked well. nice and sunny. outsidebar was put on due to large numbers as it was carnival.

The way that we were tret when our drinks had been knocked over by a rowdy crowd was disgraceful. We had done nothing wrong but were expected to replace our own drinks. If this is what the new management lets happen to its regulars then sorry but this regular will be no more.

I remember when this was a good, welcoming pub. Now it smells funny. Waited 5 minutes to be served. Staff more interested in chatting or serving regulars. Avoid like the plague.

What have they done to this pub? Had a D.J and stupid flashing lights on. Maybe I'm getting old but I like a quiet pint. Will avoid if they carry on with this.

This is a strange pub and I was unsure of it when first entering...the whole place is a little drab yet feels quite vibrant at the same time. It is hard to explain...it serves decent enough ale for a very good price. I would probably give this a 3.5 rating, but it has a pinball machine in there...and so it gets a 4 star review all the way haha. Although I'm still a little unsure of this place, I would definitely pop in again next time I am in town.

I have been drinking here for ten years, and the current landlady is the best i can remember . (Bob and Mary go back 15 years) There is a 'local atmosphere' which means everyone knows your name. Great beer at good prices too. Good if your feeling down or just finished work. You can chat, watch sport, or disappear into a cosy corner

Aka "The King's ***" Waited 3 hours for food. Kitchen broke down. Ending up getting pizzas instead of proper food. Right now waiting for breakfast. Things were supposed to be ready 20 min ago. Still waiting!

The Kings Head is an excellent pub. They serve fabulous food at extremely competitive prices (12-3 and 5-8, Tuesday to Sunday), there is a fun quiz WITH BINGO on Tuesdays from 9-ish, they have live music on Saturdays, they serve REAL ALE, and it is a fabulous atmosphere. Come along and try it for yourselves! (Oh yes, they also have Sky Sports!)
