Came here a few days ago. Our server Isla went above and beyond. A very lovely girl who was chatty and very accommodating she made our time there that much better. Food was below par.

Myself and my wife were looking for somewhere for an anniversary lunch, and came across Botanica, which was one of the few places open on a Monday lunchtime. The menu looked good and it seemed like an interesting and quirky choice. The young lady that served us was very friendly and helpful, and we have no complaints with the service. However, we were both a little disappointed with the meal itself. I went for the sticky beef tacos, and envisioned generously stuffed Mexican tacos, yet what I got was 3 dollops of beef on top of very small and very thin discs of tortilla wrap. The beef was tasty, but it seemed the preparation had been minimal and I was finished in about 6 bites. The tortilla was also very thin and disintegrated when you tried to pick it up. If it had been the price of a sandwich I probably would've been happy, but it cost a main course price. For that it was decidedly meagre. My wife had the Buddha bowl, which was okay but nothing more exciting than a quinoa salad and it lacked some imagination...and flavour. The incessant techno-hippy beats were also very intrusive and far too loud. Okay if you like a funky soundtrack to your meal, but personally I'd rather not. Overall, I think Botanica can't quite decide if it's a cafe or s restaurant, with small portions at restaurant prices. It was okay, but won't rush back I'm afraid

I was really looking forward to my meal as the menu sounded interesting. I was sadly very disappointed. The coffee was bitter. The Parmesan truffle fries were small and all broken up in to small pieces. The bao bun was dry with very dried out pork belly which was more like pork rinds. There was very little slaw on it. The portions were small but the prices were quite high. Lots of room for improvements. The one redeeming feature was the front of house staff who were friendly.

A must do whenever I am in Kirkby Lonsdale. Gorgeous food and amazing staff.

Nice bright bistro type restaurant, plenty of outside seating. Two Lagers on. Plenty of wines, do ask for hot plates. As food my not be the hottest. especially if getting smaller plates, all tasty though and i would come again ',Decent menu good service reasonable prices.

Called in on a miserable wet Bank Holiday Friday for lunch and were immediately cheered by the warm welcome and quirky but comfortable decor and atmosphere This place has had several incarnations and this one, involving significant indoor and outdoor refurbishment is the best yet Interesting menu of unusual international and traditional dishes.....small plates etc just right for an interesting and satisfying lunch Reasonable prices, wine a bit expensive but hey..this is the French Riviera of North Yorkshire This and Number Nine both well worth a visit

Superb food and service. We eat out at Kirkby on a regular basis but this was our first visit in 2024. The quality of food is brilliant and we find 3 small plates plus some fries is enough for 2 of us. We had the crispy sea bass, pork belly and calamari and all were superb. Chips weren’t bad either 😁 Great service and competitive price. You won’t go wrong here

Incredible little place hidden away, very friendly staff from entry to leaving. Food was delicious, the small plates are actually quite big too! The crispy sticky beef was fresh, hot and still crispy despite the sauce. The halloumi fingers were also amazing, but there was a little too much sauce for personal taste. Both the regular and Cajun fries were very fresh and crisp, but again the Cajun fries did have a touch too much seasoning for personal taste. The baby back ribs were tender, juicy and fell off the bone, can’t recommend them more!! The slaw was definitely an interesting colour being bright pink, but was still also very nice and fresh vegetables used. The raspberry and chocolate tart was amazing, definitely fresh and delicious, as was the lemon and meringue cheesecake was soft, creamy and very strong lemon flavour! Have to give compliments to Linda, the server. She was extremely polite, friendly, and definitely made the visit run smoothly. Nothing was too much to ask, she was happy to work with us, and kept us updated at every possible chance she could. Hats off to her, you can tell she loves her job! Overall Botanica is a great little hideaway bistro to visit, with a nice variety on their menu, and will definitely be returning!

What a lovely little find in Kirby Lonsdale. The menu was excellent and the food was great. Staff very friendly and helpful. A lovely atmosphere sat outside in the sunshine, the canopy provided dappled shade. Would definitely recommend.

The worst meal we had for a long time. The menu looked promising + the reviews were all 5 star. The food was greasy, over-cooked, salty and smothered with a spicy sauce. Everything had the same spicy sauce coated in chillis.

Cafe gone downhill since we last visited, the staff have a very superior attitude as if we are inferior. The drinks and food are expensive, £15.50 for my Ceaser salad which was only worth £5 maximum. Staff not happy,

Popped into Botanica and had the Mac Attack burger. Two nicely cooked patties with melted cheese, gherkin and fries. One of the best burgers I've had in years (and I've certainly had a few...)

Botanica has been a favourite of ours for a few years, but it was very disappointing indeed today. Service was incredibly slow (pretty much an hour from arrival to getting food). Portion size was noticeably smaller than we are used to, and the food was not terribly hot on arrival. And what has happened to the fish tacos? Filling was okay, but the tacos have become circles of grey cardboard! Such a shame, such a different experience from what we’ve had before.

Warm seating outside with dog. Lovely people and food was tremendous. I had the breakfast tacos 😋. Prefect venue for young family with dog.

Beautiful venue, genuinely lovely staff, great menu with plenty of choice; this is simply a hidden gem. Being gluten free and vegetarian can be tricky at times, but I was delighted to find choice and options available. I loved the food here and was even happier to find gluten free cake which was simply delicious! Thank you for a lovely experience and is without doubt recommend stopping by for a meal here.

The staff were nice, the location and setting has been well done. Just had a coffee and cake which were good.

Popped in here when we were out for the day and were not disappointed, i had the Beef in a Bun, which can only be described as Epic and my wife had the Steamed buns with duck, again, thought it was absolutely brilliant. Followed by some homemade Spicy Apple Sponge and a coffee, Fantastic. Very well worth a visit.

My wife has intolerances and the lady who served us spent a lot of time sorting out and adapting the menu to suit her. The food took a long time but it was delicious when it came.

We have been to Botanica many times and it never disappoints. The food is superb and the staff are friendly and efficient. It was cold so we sat in one of the funky booths inside. We ordered a selection from the menu the Pork belly is to die for and the mac & cheese is fantastic. Always a superb occasion.

The booking system is awful.It does NOT confirm bookings.We phoned for 5 days to get our booking confirmed, they dont answer the phone.We went to the restaurant at 5pm, it was closed, though their website says its open later. Eventually got an answer machine so left a message.They phoned back and said we couldnt have a table at 7pm on a saturday night as they CLOSE at 7pm, but we could have one at 5.30. The menu was very limited and not the same as onlijne. A burger and chips with pickles,2 slices of gherkin, was nothing special only the price £23. Suprised they are still in business, its a complete shambles, we wont be going there again.

Been here in the past but not for quite a few months. Always enjoyed the food and we really enjoyed the hot beef sandwiches with a small jug of really tasty gravy and lots of garnish. It was really enough for two to share and was pr iced over what you would expect for a single portion so fair enough. Ordered the beef sandwich today and was really shocked at the size of it which had shrunk considerably with very little garnish and a small pot of watery tasteless gravy. Also food was only just warm. It was priced the same however. Staff very friendly but sadly will be going back.

Used Botanica twice when visiting the area in December. There are so many mouth watering choices on the menu, small plates to mains, the choice is yours...Staff are friendly too.

Well we went here for breakfast, overall was ok. Trying to be a bit posh breakfast which comes out dribs and drabs . Bacon is burnt to a crisp and basically looks like a Mc donalds breakfast but more taseless . The place is rather nice , young staff one who looked as if he had a proper little attitude while serving us . MORE mature lady was lovely and warming. We attended for breakfast only was average , won't be rushing back though just not our kind of breakfast . Overall might be good for others to try no English breakfasts if the men want this .

After reading some awful reviews about here we visited on a Saturday evening . All I can say is , please ignore what people say and try it . What amazing food , staff and place . Despite dishes having plenty of chillies scattered in the food I have never tasted food this good for a while . Little tip, whilst looking at the menu try the crispy kale as a starter my fav . Having been visiting this place for 3 years I really don’t know how you stay open. Today was our last “benefit of the doubt”. Slowly the place had gone down hill. Our grandchildren love your pasta and that’s the only reason we have continued going. Today was absolutely awful a table of 6 (sat in the freezing cold) for a 12 30 booking, 20/25 mins before we managed to place our order and almost one hour before food came. Incredibly it came in dribs and drabs, almost 20 mins from first dish to the last. The festive sandwiches almost 50 mins to arrive and they were absolutely awful (not like last year) my wife and I hardly ate ours. The manager was apologetic and said she would sort something!!! 2 mins later bill was on our table, nothing sorted. So my wife complained and we had one sandwich removed … WOW. We all would like to say the staff looked absolutely awful, dressed in dirty pyjamas! Never ever again!

Absolutely delicious food, had a small plate of crispy sticky beef. This was not in no way was this small, great flavours, beautifully presented and I could taste every element. Had to try a dessert and was not disappointed in the Black Forest Eton Mess, out of this world. I will definitely be returning soon.

We had such a lovely meal here after walking through town. We accidentally came across Botanica and they were able to accommodate 2 adults and 2 dogs on a walk in basis in the early afternoon. The service by all staff was great, nothing was too much trouble. We had the crispy beef following a reccomendation from the staff member and it did not disappoint. This was followed by the chicken flatbread and the mac burger, all were very fresh and tasty. The meat was soft and the salad fresh and full of flavour. We are really glad to have found this place and will be visiting again when we are next in the area. The environment and decor were great. Thank you.

Service very slow, waited 25 mins for 2 teas and 1 ice cream. Paid for the teas and cancelled the ice cream it was still somewhere in a backlog. Won't try this place again.

Nice place to sit semi-outside (under cover) but food a let down. Spanish eggs had too little, to small bits of Chorizo, too much potato, hardly any Spinach and all in a tomato sauce that tasted bought and processed. Poached eggs were OK though. Nice staff. Rather slow to serve but will probably not go back.

Amazing food! They had a good range of options on the menu. I think there'd be something to suit everyone. The prices were pretty good. The only downside was that it didn't seem as clean as I would like. The table was a little sticky and the knives and forks weren't clean but I am very picky about cleanliness. We went around 1 and it didn't seem too busy but the food took around half an hour to come. It was definitely worth waiting for!

Great Asian inspired food in a querky inside/outside restaurant. Nice vibe, tasty food, friendly staff. Definitely recommend the octopus with sweet potato puree and the asparagus.

Very good miso cauliflower and hummus starters. Interesting duck salad for main as well as huge prawn tacos. Shame they didn't do a children's pizza as we ended up with a take out box. The spicy pineapple Margherita is a must if you are pining for hot sunshine on a beach somewhere. Puddings weren't really up to the level of the savoury courses but imagine that's because they are also catering for walk in coffee and cakes. I expected a sandwich donut with ice cream in the middle to be freshly fried and hot but it was just an iced ring donut cut in half with a packet of nuts thrown on top-not sure why. Will be back for more savoury food and drinks and chillies (and because number 9 round the corner always seems to be closed and kings arms stopped doing real food) but will be skipping the puddings. Note for the restaurant-hardly anyone carries cash these days so get the add tip option on your card machine or add service to the bill for diners having multiple courses. Every other business in Kirkby seemed to be hiring-make sure your staff stay by getting them tips.

Went in last night and was disappointed, after twice previously being very impressed with the food. Poor service. Took 15 minutes for our drinks order to be taken, I had to ask to be served. Lots of waitresses with iPads not paying attention. The food was ok, but when you are paying 9-12 for a 'small plate' the value for money is terrible. I don't mind paying for quality, but it just wasn't there. Compare that to the value and quality of other local places, makes me think Botanica is taking advantage. The chicken in the sliders was even smaller than the small bun. The boa bun filling was acrid so we didn't eat those. Tempura prawns were greasy and the batter not fully cooked. Belly pork was good and the calamari was ok. Mac and cheese was ok but bland. The most annoying thing is once we had got our food and said we didn't want any more drinks we were ignored by the staff. Nobody asked how our meal was, so this is my outlet leaving you a bad review. I don't think we will be returning here for a while. Lots of lovely alternatives.

Only 4 of the 5 dishes we ordered arrived. Satay sauce just tasted like a scoop of peanut butter!

Ordered the Spanish Eggs. Had this last December when we visited and it was amazing. Sadly not as good this time, so a bit disappointing. Mainly a tomato dish with a few small potatoes in, bit of spinach and two very undercooked poached eggs on top. No sight or taste of chorizo. Ate a third and mentioned to a member of staff. She was nice and asked if she could get me anything else, but my friend had finished her dish, so said no. Chatted to the staff member again when I went to pay, she said there was a different chef who probably made the dish different. Disappointed to not have been given a pound or two off the bill!

Great place with amazing food, shame the waitresses come across as stuck up and not helpful! Not like the main man that looked after us and a free shot is a nice touch!

What a delicious lunch! Great freindly service, relaxed atmosphere, lovely music and decor paired with interesting, thoughtful and tasty food options. Left feeling thoroughly happy and will most definitely return. 5⭐ well done to all staff as it was particularly warm on the day of our visit, yet all remained utterly professional with smiles all round.

We were really looking forward to this meal but had a terrible experience. The woman who brought our drinks accidentally dumped the entire tray onto our table and onto my lap. Very unpleasant, but not the end of the world. An understandable error!I went to the toilet and used the hand dryer for awhile and decided to try and enjoy the meal in soaking wet jeans. No one came out. No one checked on us. The woman brought out a few bits of napkin. Then nothing. Finally we tried to order more of our appetizer because it had been drowned. We were about to be charged when I mentioned the tray of drinks. She acted like we should be grateful she didn’t charge us for a second!!!! We were still charged for all the drinks and the appetizer. Nothing compensated for a terrible uncomfortable experience. Several other things went wrong that don’t warrant one star. Like the ‘kids ice cream’ was £5.50. A cocktail was terrible and we had to get a re-do. £16 crispy pork belly came with no rice and no sides (and wasn’t remotely crispy). But the kicker was when we went to pay and we’re asked ‘how was it”? And my husband said ‘really not good’ and referenced the debacle with drinks everywhere and was then handed the £118 bill. I think some apology, some compensation should be made when an entire tray of drinks is dumped on the table, soaking the patron who proceeds through the meal drenched in sticky lemonade. We won’t return despite living nearby.

We ate here on Saturday night, and dined from the small plates menu, which is a mixture a pan-Asian dishes. Firstly the staff were exceptional. From the moment we arrived Linda was on it - everything was done in a flash but no one seemed stressed or flustered. They took time to chat and were attentive without it feeling rushed or overbearing. The food was incredible. We couldn’t believe how quick it was coming out of the kitchen, immaculately presented and bursting with flavours. The owner even let my other half try a dessert from the next day’s menu that he thought might be better - it went down a treat. All in all, we would 100% return here. The effort that has been put into creating this restaurant shows every bit and they deserve all the success.

Absolutely Amazing! Must visit! The team there are so incredibly friendly! The food is amazing! Everything has so much flavour and you can tell everyone who works there are very passionate and care about their customers. I just wish I lived closer, so that I could visit more often. Thank you for a lovely meal! Can't wait to come back

Glad we spotted this place for lunch. We were made to feel very welcome by the staff. We opted to eat from the small plates menu. The flavours were amazing especially the shredded beef. Would highly recommend. Perfect lunch and we will definitely be back!

This was my first time eating here this past Saturday, and I have to say the food was amazing and the customer service was even better, particularly by a young lad in the restaurant who waited on us brilliantly and spoke to us with class and respect and was a credit to the restaurant. Would definitely come back!

The decor is nice but on the day we visited the music was weird and too loud,we had to raise our voices to hear one another. The garlic bread was undercooked and we left most of it. My pizza was ok but nothing special. The staff didn't seem too bothered about our complaint and probably thought we were in the wrong. We won't be going back.

Had a lovely breakfast at Botanica, the food was fresh & tasty! The pancakes filled us up for the rest of the day :)

We had such an amazing experience here. Jokingly put about dropping a ring in the gravy for us, they called to check if we were serious and when it was sorted, they went out specifically to get us haribo rings and brought them over to us on a plate. Really played along with the joke well, really great people and even better food! Will be back, thanks guys!!

A lovely bistro style restaurant down a cobbled alley. The interior decor was as charming as the outside. Unfortunately our goats cheese and caramelised red onion pizzas were disappointing. Lovely crisp base but the topping was very frugal. About 15 small cubes of goats cheese and a small amount of onions. We pointed this out to the staff and they were very sorry and said that they would pass the comments on to the kitchen staff. They were very accomodating and only charged us for one pizza. My other daughter had the shaved beef sandwich which she said was delicious. Would I return to Botanica?......not sure.

The food here is gorgeous. Plentiful without leaving you stuffed. The wait staff are lovely and the surroundings are nice. It's one of Kirby Lonsdales best kept secrets and well worth a visit if you want a bit of a special lunch

Really enjoyed our first meal here a few months ago. However will not be returning after todays service. Abruptly told that we had to sit outside because we had dogs which I have no problem with but put across aggressively. We were then sat down to then be told you could not just have drinks again in a rude fashion (we were sat outside with about 10 of 15 tables empty). Poor customer service skills, require proper training. Will not be returning again which is a shame being regular visitors to the area lucky for us there a plenty of welcoming establishments close by.

Well what can I say, my partner and I enjoyed our dinner here so much we went back the next day for brunch. Friendly staff, great food, great prices. Highly recommend. Can’t wait to revisit already.

First time here and was welcomed by the owner. Table for 3 inside. The food and service was amazing. Nothing too much trouble. Great host, great food and fabulous place. I will definitely be back here. 5 star's from me.

Lovely place for lunch Tucked behind the main street - an intimate and modern feel that is very different to most of the other (more traditional) bars and eating places. The Mac Attack Burger and Halloumi & Roasted Peppers flatbread were both very tasty. (The flatbread would've been even better if served with some mango chutney).

Fantastic meal tonight. 6 people. Every dish was perfect but what made it extra special was the attentive service. Our waitress was Linda and she couldn’t have done more to accommodate us and make our evening special. Highly recommend.

Stopped off for a spot of Lunch on the way back from the Lakes. Ordered the fiery prawns, chicken skewers with pitta and humous. Lovely spot for an impromptu lunch & very pleasant staff. Definitely worth a visit.

We walked passed looking for somewhere to eat. Looked down the passageway and thought it looked good. We were not disappointed, great staff, great food and amazing service. Would definitely come back. We sat in the covered courtyard which was great as we had our dog with us.

We passed by here in the rain at lunchtime, and I saw they had a French dipped beef sandwich on the menu. Stopped in on the off chance, and the friendly greeter showed us to the last available table. The food was really good, with the sandwich being everything I’d hoped. It felt like a chain place, but I was pleased to hear that it’s indie. Nice one. Cheers.

We were visiting the lakes and Yorkshire at the weekend and had a day in Kirkby Lonsdale, while there we had a nice lunch at Botanica, we decided to go back the next night for tea! I booked online at 3:30 and reserved for 7pm, in the mean time my son started to complain of not feeling well, till the point were he couldn't go out to eat. So I called the restaurant as soon as we could and tried to cancel. Only to be told the fee for cancelation would be £10 per head (£50) to my amazement when I explained the circumstances I was told sorry we cant change the rules , although the owners could over ride this. So my wife rang back and asked the helpful staff to call the owners and explain the situation. They called back and said sorry they were not willing to cancel the payment. The booking system, on opentable, was designed during the lockdown to protect against "no shows" during the ever changing rules of covid. Its not to generate revenue when you cancel as soon as you know you cant make your booking. They are abusing the system - be very careful before booking online with this restaurant and really the owners have the ability to override such a payment and they chose not too !! Nice people.

Our first visit here was for brunch with family. We ate in the outdoor area that was very clean and welcoming. Food was amazing; promptly and cheerfully served. A hidden gem but I’m sure the locals are probably quite glad about that! 😜

Ate here twice during our 2 night stay in Kirkby Lonsdale. Lovely, friendly and attentive staff (even with some extremely fussy customers who spent 10 minutes choosing their table never mind their food). Just been decorated inside, garden is nice - and a bit funky too!

Setting was lovely, service was really slow. Staff didn’t check to see how the food was, would have told them it was poor if they had, chicken was dry, really over cooked and everything else was pretty bland. A shame really as on first impressions it looked like we were in for a real treat.
