Great to have a lovely coffee place in the heart of Cartmel. Cakes are home made and gorgeous. Food for lunch was fab and a great choice - falafel, hummus, pitta and salad.

We stopped for coffee and cake (of which there was a great selection!). Both were of good quality - they do a decent flavoursome flat white and the kids enjoyed their hot chocolates. It wasn't too busy when we visited and service was quick. It's in a nice position to watch the world go by in the village square outside. They had plant-based milks available as well as some vegan and gluten-free cake options.

I’m sending a trend in the comments in terms of the attitude of staff in this cafe. Experienced a very rude member of staff who wanted to know what time we were leaving! Lost for words. Small cafes wonder why they lose out to the chains but you just get left in peace to go about your business! Also £2.70 for a can of coke! Fortunately the pub opposite was altogether more friendly and accommodating!

I had a testless soup with a dry cheesescone and I wasn't happy. My partner didn't like his sausage bun either. Stuff was friendly.

We stayed in Cartmel for a few days and visited Cartmel Coffee a couple of times. Coffee was reasonable and there was a good range of cakes (the scones were pretty good). You can choose to sit inside, at the small tables on the town square, or in the more spacious and tranquil outdoor area equipped with wooden benches and umbrellas

Very disappointing takeaway coffee experience! Charged my son £3.99 for an oat latte which was unbelievably small. Same size as small from every other coffee place known to man, costa, Nero, Starbucks etc. when we questioned it she said all their coffees were the same size. This was totally untrue as we could see various size mugs and cups on the tables inside!! Clearly they only have a few paper takeaway cups and thought they could get away with charging such a ridiculous price for it. Tourist rip-offs really annoy me. We decided to eat elsewhere. Had another bad experience in Cartmel (see other review for Halo). In our week break to the Lakes we only had two bad experiences- both in Cartmel. Not sure what that means. Step up your game!

We only stopped in for coffee, but the smell was amazing. The cakes on display looked fabulous! Next time I will be having cake!! 😁😁

A great cup of coffee in a beautiful little village.

We stopped off for a light lunch and were not disappointed The cafe was light and airy, the staff were very friendly and welcoming with the dog. We had sandwiches which were packed full of ingredients and served with a lovely fresh mixed salad.

My partner and I visited Cartmel Coffee for breakfast after getting up rather late and in need of something substantial to set us up for the day. We had visited the cafe previously for coffee and cake and really enjoy it so we thought it would be a winner. I found a table by the window which was a lovely spot to watch the world go by, while my partner ordered us breakfast. The Price - approximately £19 for a sausage and black pudding roll, a full English breakfast, a pot of tea and an iced latte The food - my breakfast roll consisted of three chippolata sausages and a small slice of black pudding so overcooked I couldn’t cut half of it with a knife so had to leave it. There was more roll than filling and it cost over £6! The iced latte was also expensive (I believe over £3) and I was given a very small glass of cold coffee with lots of ice. Not an iced latte by any stretch of the imagination, and it was so bitter I couldn’t even drink it. My partner enjoyed his breakfast and pot of tea but stated it wasn’t worth the price for the small plate he received. In comparison, we visited The Food Shed this morning and had two coffees and two enormous breakfast rolls with the works for approx £16 and it was out of this world! Hopefully we caught them on a bad day. The staff were lovely though but we sadly won’t be returning.

Lovely dog friendly cafe in the heart of Cartmel. We have an unsociable dog and the owners made sure we could keep her tucked away from other dogs while we ate. Lovely tea and sandwiches. Very freiendly staff.

Visited twice on holiday last week. First time for coffee and cake, second for breakfast before heading home. Service and food both excellent. Warm, welcoming and dog friendly - they made a big fuss of my dog. A must visit if you are in the area.

For the price of the coffee, the mug is on the small size. The Victoria Sponge we ordered was raw. Should have sent it back but my 4-year old son had already wolfed half of it. On the plus side, staff were friendly and kind.

Sad - I'm vegetarian - order soup and "cheese scone". Half way through scone I am wondering why it tastes and smells funky - there are seemingly pieces of orange flesh throughout. I asked at the counter - "yes its salmon". I inform that I'm allergic to it - no apology, just "I'll change that for you". I declined and we left feeling saddened and disappointed!

Lovely Cake, Coffee was boiled far too hot and was very bitter. The carrot cake was home made and extremely delicious.

A great cafe, a much appreciated stop on our hilly bike ride. Full English breakfast was very impressive, also excellent coffee, and many more food options, including amazing cakes. i recommend the blackcurrant scone. The service was very quick and efficient despite the cafe appearing to be very busy. And the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Clean and well presented. A small selection of sandwiches cheese, cheese and piccalilli, ham, ham and piccalilli, egg mayo, etc with a small amount of chopped salad and coleslaw garnish on the side. Large soft baps. Tomato and red pepper soup with a large cheese scone were very nice. Various cakes and tray bakes are on display to choose from. The toilets are very clean. Friendly staff welcomed our small dog and offered her a biscuit.

Stopped in Carmel to find Sticky Toffee Pudding shop. Lovely village and church. Visited Carmel Coffee for cup of tea. Great value as pot held 3 cups of good quality tea. Friendly service. Cakes looked very appetising. Would recommend

We have only ever had coffee & cake in this cafe but the food looks good. Staff are friendly even though they are run off their feet on race days.

Lovely little cafe. I am coeliac so asked for gluten free bread and staff were happy to accommodate. If I could suggest one improvement it would be to advertise that they have gluten free bread as I think a lot of coeliac’s would wonder past presuming they couldn’t accommodate their needs.

A wonderful break on a warm sunny day. Arrived a little late (just before closing time). Welcomed and invited to have drink and cake. Lovely ice coffee and cake made for a wonderful break. Friendly and efficient service even though we were late.

Went in around 10.15am, looking for breakfast. Door wide open, no one acknowledged us when we walked in, although several people who I now guess to be staff / owners sitting chatting. We sat down. No menus on the tables. Waited a few minutes, no one came to us, so I looked at the menu pinned on the door and went to the counter to order based on that. 2 poached eggs (one burst) on cheap supermarket toasted bread, with avocado in a separate tub, was not what I was expecting for £8. Coffee had no major taste to it. Menus arrived halfway through eating, ah well. It's such a lovely, perfect location, but I won't be back.

Fabulous home made scones, crisp on the outside and just perfect inside. We had fruit but cheese also looked amazing and of course there is plain. Washed down with a delicious coffee. Nice choice of other savoury and sweet treats. Light and airy cafe however this weather was good so we sat out in a little courtyard at the back which was a sun trap.

Dropped in for coffee and cake. Cake was really good, honestly one of the nicest cakes I've had for a while. Coffee could be improved, the milk texture wasn't right for a flat white, but lovely spot to sit and people watch.

Called in for coffees on the 3rd Saturday in May My wife & I had flat whites & the others cappuccino etc .Coffees were good.The coffee shop is in an ideal location

Nice refurbishment. Cheese Scone was lovely but the Cream of Parsnip Soup was Nasty - needs seasoning and thickening, it gave the impression that it had split. Cake selection looked nice, so if we go again it would be for Coffee and Cake only.

Lovely clean coffee shop. We had brunch - the bacon and egg rolls were perfect with tasty bacon and runny egg. Really good coffee and tea too. Thank goodness for a cosy warm welcoming place in a wet morning.

Called in on Bank Holiday Sunday. Made to feel really welcome by the staff. The food we ordered was freshly prepared for us, and tailored to our request.....DELICIOUS ! Thoroughly enjoyed our visit and will definitely go again next time we are in Cartmel.

I got my coffee here each morning after my jog around Cartmel during a recent visit Coffee is nice, outdoor seating is good. Served promptly without any issues. Had a bacon barm but it was a little dry and over cooked, otherwise 5 stars.

On entering we saw a few empty tables, however, all of which were still full of used crockery, cutlery and glasses. It wasnt particularly busy and there were four staff members behind the counter. One member of the team served the table in front of us and never attempted to clear any of the tables as he walked back to the counter. We looked at the menu and after waiting and not being acknowledged for at least five minutes we got up and left. Surely these staff members need further training on the rudiments of dining room etiquette, " never return to the kitchen empty handed".We passed again some fifteen minutes later and the same tables still hadn't been cleared.Come on Cartmel Coffee pull your socks up! Four very disappointed ladies from Manchester dying for a coffee.I worry for your customers planning to visit for the races next weekend.

Visited here for lunch simple fayre soup sandwiches jacket potato no issue with that at all. However 2 of the side salads on our plates the lettuce was black with decayed holes in this would’ve been obvious to anyone preparing the plates. I did let the staff know and got a simple sorry

The cafe had a chalk board with meal options but we just wanted a sandwich & a drink but they said they were not serving food. So we ordered a piece of cake - this was gorgeous served with creme fraiche & berries but took 20 minutes !!! People who came in after us were served before us. There were at least 3 staff standing behind the counter & one of the girls had long hair - not even tied back. We would have thought in the days of covid they would have been glad of the custom & it wouldn't have taken them long to make a sandwich. It was a shame as we visited there on my recommendation due to a previous visit prior to covid. Would not visit there again -very poor service.

Small coffee and sandwich for ten pounds was a little on the pricey side but that said the coffee was excellent and the sandwich served with a little salad was fresh and tasty. The staff were very friendly. With the two tables occupied outside by the door I sat at the pub opposite, the waitress brought the food over the road without any fuss even returning with sugar for the coffee. Cartmel itself is a beautiful village well worth a visit.

Just been in. Waited for 15 minutes and still not served. Serving people that came in after us. Staff grumpy and uncommunicative. Plenty of other options and would go to any them ahead of here.

El acceso es fácil para todos. El estacionamiento puede ser un poco problemático a veces, pero está a solo un corto paseo del campo de carreras con su gran estacionamiento.El mocca y el café con leche eran absolutamente excelentes. Muy buen café caliente sabroso. Los pasteles se veían bien y la rodaja de almendras estaba deliciosa.Los alrededores carecen de algo, pero esto es solo mi opinión y en covid restricciones. El servicio fue excelente. Esta bien recomendado

So glad we popped into Cartmel Coffee. What a warm welcome we all received, our breakfast was just perfect and great coffee. The cakes looked amazing, we will definitely return and we have already told other family members to visit.

What a find. This cafe is situated in a character building - a former store with the large shopfront glass windows letting in plenty of natural light as well as affording an outlook out on to the village square. Up on the counter there is a tempting range of homemade baking, all of which looks very fresh and tasty. We tried a date shortcake which was just that little bit different; it’s nice to discover options that aren’t exactly the same as you would find at every other nearby tearoom. The coffee was also good - and I very seldom say that in this part of the world. The village of Cartmel is equally appealing - lovely place to stroll around, visit the very impressive and historic priory church and browse in the few stores (we particularly liked the interesting secondhand store with lots of little bits and prices of china, old cutlery, jewellery etc). If you are looking for an attractive village where you can spend an hour or two meandering and then relaxing over coffee and cake or lunch, this could well be the place for you.

Set off the smoke alarm with my tea cake and still served it to me black. They also seem pretty grumpy. Thanks for that
