Been before and normally good, but the true test is how they handle it when things don't go well. I ordered the Brisket, which needs to be cooked properly, but unfortunately it wasn't. It has to be cooked with the fat on, but not too much or it goes slimy. It was the worst meat I have ever tasted and I ledt it all. I notified the young waitress who was really nice. She apologised, and said she would tell the chef (not sure if she was confident enough to do that) . I expected someone to come and speak to us, as 2 of our party had the Brisket and we both left it. Nobody came, no offer of swapping it for something else, not even a free Baileys :-( The team in there are always good, and we will go again, but not recommending it any more. Shame.

Service was slow due to it being busy. However this was clearly due to only having one floor staff on a busy Sunday. Had to go up to the bar 20minutes after ordering a drink to actually receive the drink after server didn’t put the drink through. After requesting to speak to the general manager, they were rude and dismissive, attempting to blame someone else on the team and they then walked away instead of resolving the problem with us. The attitude given whilst talking to paying customers was appalling. Took almost 15 minutes to actually get the bill before even paying

Wasn’t expecting gourmet food, just soup and a sandwich. Ordered a veggie and a vegan soup, a med veg baguette and a cheese and chutney baguette. Med veg baguette came smothered in by far the worst vegan cheese I’ve ever tasted. It was an option and I hadn’t been asked if I wanted it. I’d have declined, not because, as the server said , ‘all vegan cheese is horrible’ but because the kind served in pubs often is. The 2 soups were the same brown colour and unidentifiable taste. No one had tried their best to make this soup delicious, that’s for sure. Server tried to claim that one of them was cauliflower cheese soup. Not plausible. And the cheese and chutney baguette had no chutney in it. Feedback given politely, received defensively. How hard can it be to provide nice soup and a sandwich for £10?

First trip to Ulverston for a one night stay and had been in one pub that looked nice on the outside but not great inside so thought we would try the Farmers next for a drink. Looks small from the front but once inside we were not only surprised by how big it was but the fact that it was packed. We bought a drink each and found the last table / chairs available - the decor is modern and bright. We were sat near the main dining area and having seen / smelled the food coming. out we decided to eat here instead of where we had planned. We made a gear choice ! Starting with an unbelievably priced bottle of prosecco which is £11 on Thursdays. We had the pitta, hummus & nibbles to share then i chose the kilo of mussels that came with chips, French stick and prawn. skewers whilst my partner had the prawn skewers with sweet & sour sauce, rice and salad. All extremely tasty, large portions and a great price.

We visited the restaurant earlier in the week and noticed tables were fairly full but the bar & restaurant seemed to have a calm/romantic atmosphere so decided to book for Friday for an evening meal... Big mistake!! 😂 Atmosphere was great for a group of rugby lads or a hen do but you couldn't hear yourself think for rowdy tables never mind place an order. The waitress actually brought out more drinks than we'd ordered because she misheard us, we were just too awkward to say anything so drank them and paid extra 😳 my partners food was great she had the brisket. I had the burger and would have personally given it a 3/5. I think this restaurant specializes in pizza though so id go for something like that next time... The interior and decor was lovely though I got the vibe the whole place is riding some massive tiktok popularity waive like a load of boomers have just discovered the place and decided to throw on their leopard print and feather hats. 10/10 for rowdy vibes and good customer service. 7/10 food. 1/10 romantic on a weekend but looked like a solid 8/10 if we'd gone two days before 😂

We had a nice evening meal here, just mains and a desert. I had mussels for my main course and a chocolate brownie for dessert. The mussels were tasty, in a nice white wine ginger and chilli sauce, however there were white a few closed inedible mussels and a lot of broken shells. When trying to get the sauce with my bread, oftentimes these small shell shards would end up in my bite which was honestly awful and of putting. On the bread topic, they pile it up on top which makes it hard to butter. I could have done with a separate plate for the bread and chips to prevent them getting soggy in the sauce and also to butter the bread on. That's the only reason I'm not giving it five stars. The venue is beautiful, the service is good and fast, the price is expected for the area and upmarket style restaurant. Overall good, just a few issues with the broken shells everywhere and closed mussels, but there were plenty of open ones too so it didn't affect the overall meal.

Pre-booked a table online as I wanted the table for a family retirement meal for my Mum, added into the comments a request to have a couple of bottles of fizz and sharing dessert for our party (which nobody acknowledged), I called a couple of days before to arrange this and pay upfront, I was told we would have two bottles of fizz and 6 glasses ready for us on the table on arrival - we didn't - why? Awkward as then the waitress is coming over asking what we want to order to drink - I was planning on surprising my Mum with the fizz. Sharing dessert I'm not sure if there was a miscommunication between us as when it arrived after the meal I'd question how many people were sharing the dessert. I've been to the Farmers plenty over the years for food and it's always been pretty decent, it's always a good atmosphere etc. Unfortunately on this occasion the food was pretty poor. Two of us ordered the 'tandoori' chicken kebabs - so bland, I'd question whether the chicken had ever seen any sort of marinade/spice mix. Rice was tasteless and there was a pitiful number of chips for a 'half & half' portion. Mussels - again commented on the portion of chips served on the side - tight. Fish dish was small but aren't they always and the Cajun chicken and brisket meals were fine. A shame overall as like I said it's always a good atmosphere and it is a nice place interior wise. I wouldn't rush back unfortunately.

Sad to say but I have eaten in this pub many times but today unfortunately was not a good experience, food and service wise. We ordered a garlic bread with cheese to start priced at £10.50! so was expecting a lovely starter, we had to send it back as it was tasteless, the dough was chewy as if not cooked properly and came with a sprinkling of cheese, not mozzarella in our opinion either, staff were very helpful and replaced it, the second attempt wasn't much better to be honest, but we didn't want to complain again. Onto the mains, my cajun chicken was good, although again the flatbread that came with it wasn't and at over £20, not value for money. My wife ordered the goats cheese, honey and walnut pizza with salad at I think £18.95? Again the pizza dough was, I think, the same as the one used with the garlic bread and also very poor quality, very tough and chewy. Salad didn't have tomato or any dressing either. With a couple of drinks our bill was just over £70 and I feel doesn't represent good value for money. As I said earlier I have eaten here lots of times and the service and quality of food is usually very good, maybe this was a bad day, at no point did any of the staff ask us how our meal was, which I find quite unusual. Disappointed to say the least.

We ordered coffee and brunch to sit outside, but we waited for over 20 minutes for our toasted sourdough to arrive. In the meantime, others who sat after us got their drinks and food. We spoke to three staff members who were serving outside, but none of them helped us. Eventually they served our coffees 15-20 minutes later by when our food was completely cold. We waited another 15 minutes to speak to the manager, but he never came out. When I went in to complain, he said "sorry but if you want coffee and brunch served at the same time, then this is not a place for you". This was the most disrespectful and unprofessional response I have ever received from a manager. I will never go back to this pub and I advise others to avoid it as well.

When I went in to complain, he said "sorry but if you want coffee and brunch served at the same time, then this is not a place for you". This was the most disrespectful and unprofessional response I have ever received from a manager. I will never go back to this pub and I advise others to avoid it as well.

Enjoyed a lovely evening at the Farmers Arms. Great atmosphere from the minute we walked in. Friendly, helpful staff who provided excellent service. Staff were knowledgeable about gluten free dietary requirements and I felt in safe hands. All the food was delicious and reasonably priced. Would recommend but book to avoid disappointment!

Fancy spot. Busy with bustling staff keeping the drinks flowing. We had dinner after a lot of walking around Ulverston, we were very hungry! The menu isn't fancy, I'd describe it as good old fashioned pub grub, but the portions are terrific. Enough for two hungry walkers. Decent beer, a bit loud on the music. But overall a good pub.

Exceptional service! I came to enjoy a delightful Sunday Roast and I got just that! Minus the over cooked roast potatoes that were completely overruled by the mouth watering beef! I had a sticky toffee pudding as a dessert which was prevented beautifully and did not disappoint. I will be back again that’s for sure!

Nice warm cosy place to stop by with decent pub grub and nice beers on. Parking is a bit limited (like everywhere round this neck of the woods) all in all, a very nice family meal had.

Called in on a very wet Saturday afternoon for a spot of lunch and to dry out after a very wet walk with our Springer Nice friendly welcome and some nice beers on offer A small menu but the food we opted for was superb Two pasta dishes, pumpkin and clam were both devoured. Would definitely recommend.
