Lovely food, great service, clean all through. A nice atmosphere with a mix of local and tourists. Would definitely recommend.

Veg on the Sunday dinner was a very small portion not good for the price paid , I agree with previous review about penny pinching Also there is a horrendous smell coming from the downstairs toilet it is disgusting and very off putting

We have been coming for years and today was the worst meal ever! I only had a salad but I hate Penny pinching! Why not put a pound on the price. The fisherman’s salad always had loads of prawns and a Marie sauce now I counted 5 prawns and a 50p bag of lettuce , so we will not be coming again for a long while. Other establishments are trying to keep their customers not drive them away . Especially long serving ones

We booked this restaurant for one of our dinners before visiting Ulverston. From outside it doesn’t look very big but once you go inside the back of the restaurant looks beautiful like a posh restaurant with a lot of space and lovely comfortable table and chairs. Easy access into the restaurant. Excellent service from our waitress. The menu is great with a lot of choices. We were all happy with our starters and mains and desserts. Lovely clean toilet facilities with music playing. Highly recommend this restaurant for food or the beautiful bar just for drinks. Would definitely return if we visit Ulverston again.

Constantly good! great portions, great selection on the menu, been for breakfast, lunch , and tea time numerous times. Always delicious and always great service My go to place for food in Ulverston.

Came here on two occasions , whilst staying g locally, on for evening meal and the next day for breakfast. Excellent value, well cooked and good sized portions. All served by friendly staff

Excellent Lunch with great food and friendly/attentive service. Restaurant area at back was absolutely packed so we were lucky to get a table. 1kg Mussels is what I opted for and it was amazing.

We had a nice evening meal here, just mains and a desert. I had mussels for my main course and a chocolate brownie for dessert. The mussels were tasty, in a nice white wine ginger and chilli sauce, however there were white a few closed inedible mussels and a lot of broken shells. When trying to get the sauce with my bread, oftentimes these small shell shards would end up in my bite which was honestly awful and of putting. On the bread topic, they pile it up on top which makes it hard to butter. I could have done with a separate plate for the bread and chips to prevent them getting soggy in the sauce and also to butter the bread on. That's the only reason I'm not giving it five stars. The venue is beautiful, the service is good and fast, the price is expected for the area and upmarket style restaurant. Overall good, just a few issues with the broken shells everywhere and closed mussels, but there were plenty of open ones too so it didn't affect the overall meal.

Went for a quick light lunch,asked for toastie the barman said yes,went to order ( after we bought a drink ) then he said we dont do toasties so ordered 2 soups had to ask when it was coming ( after 35 mins) eventually got served with 2 plates of cold soup. Wont be back 😡

Pre-booked a table online as I wanted the table for a family retirement meal for my Mum, added into the comments a request to have a couple of bottles of fizz and sharing dessert for our party (which nobody acknowledged), I called a couple of days before to arrange this and pay upfront, I was told we would have two bottles of fizz and 6 glasses ready for us on the table on arrival - we didn't - why? Awkward as then the waitress is coming over asking what we want to order to drink - I was planning on surprising my Mum with the fizz. Sharing dessert I'm not sure if there was a miscommunication between us as when it arrived after the meal I'd question how many people were sharing the dessert. I've been to the Farmers plenty over the years for food and it's always been pretty decent, it's always a good atmosphere etc. Unfortunately on this occasion the food was pretty poor. Two of us ordered the 'tandoori' chicken kebabs - so bland, I'd question whether the chicken had ever seen any sort of marinade/spice mix. Rice was tasteless and there was a pitiful number of chips for a 'half & half' portion. Mussels - again commented on the portion of chips served on the side - tight. Fish dish was small but aren't they always and the Cajun chicken and brisket meals were fine. A shame overall as like I said it's always a good atmosphere and it is a nice place interior wise. I wouldn't rush back unfortunately.

The perfect spot in Ulverston for a Sunday afternoon lunch and drink. Great vibe and helpful friendly staff. Would highly recommend.

There is a short, ginger waiter who is usually quite rude and off. He won’t let customers finish talking before trying to walk away. Waiters usually ask ‘anything else?’ But this guy had to be called back a few times so we could all order our drinks. He was quite rude when he brushed past me, elbowing me and didn't apologise. Not sure what his problem is but he shouldn't be working there if he is so angry.

Sad to say but I have eaten in this pub many times but today unfortunately was not a good experience, food and service wise. We ordered a garlic bread with cheese to start priced at £10.50! so was expecting a lovely starter, we had to send it back as it was tasteless, the dough was chewy as if not cooked properly and came with a sprinkling of cheese, not mozzarella in our opinion either, staff were very helpful and replaced it, the second attempt wasn't much better to be honest, but we didn't want to complain again. Onto the mains, my cajun chicken was good, although again the flatbread that came with it wasn't and at over £20, not value for money. My wife ordered the goats cheese, honey and walnut pizza with salad at I think £18.95? Again the pizza dough was, I think, the same as the one used with the garlic bread and also very poor quality, very tough and chewy. Salad didn't have tomato or any dressing either. With a couple of drinks our bill was just over £70 and I feel doesn't represent good value for money. As I said earlier I have eaten here lots of times and the service and quality of food is usually very good, maybe this was a bad day, at no point did any of the staff ask us how our meal was,which I find quite unusual. Disappointed to say the least.

Great pub/bar, very trendy and THE place to be in Ulverston. It is a lovely place but it is not a place to have a quiet drink, open fire and muddy boots but it doesn't pretend to be. It has great food and beers, the staff are great and very helpful.

Travelling through the lake district and made a detour to have lunch. We weren’t disappointed. The food was beautiful again! Our favourite place to eat in the area

I visited this really good pub on saturday, the 2nd of April, besides selling 4 quality locally brewed hand pumpedcales. It was all well kept this friendly pub is also a well-known eating place with a very good local following Pleasent staff also over the road is additional hotel rooms that this place rents out and it is usually well used by tourists,,,visitors to this lovely area of England Saturday 24th February 2024 This pub we again revisited. Today, the pub had 4 real ale beers on brewed in the lake district. This pub well run clean and has good staff and clientele I would use this pub always when in Ulverston

Just had top quality breakfast, the food was fresh well presented I had a full English all quality ingredients and no fat or oil,the staff were all brilliant. Plus the ambience for a lazy Sunday morning breakfast was perfect

Can't fault this great bar, great food and also a fantastic choice of beers, fantastic menu and food as stated is first class, we have eaten in the restaurant on numerous occasions and it is consistently very good, the staff are very friendly and very attentive and helpful and more than happy to go that extra mile no matter how busy the bar gets. Well done guys.

We came for lunch on a Sunday . The decor is beautiful inside and our service was fab. I can honestly say my caesar salad was the best I've ever had and the salt and pepper chips are a must ! We will be back !!!!!

We waited another 15 minutes to speak to the manager, but he never came out. When I went in to complain, he said "sorry but if you want coffee and brunch served at the same time, then this is not a place for you". This was the most disrespectful and unprofessional response I have ever received from a manager. I will never go back to this pub and I advise others to avoid it as well.

Enjoyed a lovely evening at the Farmers Arms. Great atmosphere from the minute we walked in. Friendly, helpful staff who provided excellent service. Staff were knowledgeable about gluten free dietary requirements and I felt in safe hands. All the food was delicious and reasonably priced. Would recommend but book to avoid disappointment!

Fancy spot. Busy with bustling staff keeping the drinks flowing. We had dinner after a lot of walking around Ulverston, we were very hungry! The menu isn't fancy, I'd describe it as good old fashioned pub grub, but the portions are terrific. Enough for two hungry walkers. Decent beer, a bit loud on the music. But overall a good pub.

Looking for somewhere for breakfast and we stumbled on this place. So happy we did as the food was absolutely delicious. The staff were lovely and the decor was amazing as well. Will be defo coming here when we come back up this way again....

Great food, lovely bar and staff

The food and service was amazing, the staff was extremely welcoming. The beef brisket was delicious and so tender + tasty, their fish and chips was one of the best I’ve ever had. Their portions are HUGE make sure you are hungry :) very highly recommended

Exceptional service! I came to enjoy a delightful Sunday Roast and I got just that! Minus the over cooked roast potatoes that were completely overruled by the mouth watering beef! I had a sticky toffee pudding as a dessert which was prevented beautifully and did not disappoint. I will be back again that’s for sure!

Went for Sunday lunch. In fact been here a few times. The food is always excellent and great value. The customer service is also excellent. Definitely recommend this place if your looking for somewhere to have a nice meal.

We sat outside next to the real fire, there are also electric heaters overhead so we were very cosily warm. We sampled a mixture of food we could all share and pick at, Margareta pizza, garlic bread, onion rings, chilli chips and normal chips. We all enjoyed it. Inside the pub was packed but our food still arrived in a timely manner. Drinks were all good. I particularly enjoyed the flap jack cube that came with my pot of tea.

We had a great lunch here. The staf were very friendly and the food was fresh and tasty. Highly recommended.

i've eaten here plenty, so i can tell you that the food has never let me down. the place itself is pleasant, and so are the staff. recently had a meal there for christmas eve, and we got there early. we sat by the outdoor fire/heaters, and were promptly given free hot water bottles for the duration of our meal. brilliant stuff, honestly. very highly rated.

My daughter ordered full English breakfast without half of it. It was still massive and she only managed a bit of what she had.

Not dog friendly which is unusual for the lakes. Chilli wings and garlic prawns starter were fine. Whole plaice advertised as grilled with black pepper and garlic butter. The fished seemed to be very wet and certainly had no black pepper or garlic butter anywhere near it. But disappointed considering reviews. Very nice building and good service by the 2 young ladies that were prompt and helpful.

Recently returned from a long weekend in the lakes with the family and after a wee bit of research we booked in for breakfast on the Saturday. What a great find this pub was!!!!!! Now, I eat out a lot through work & can honestly say this pub is the best food I’ve ever tasted. So much so, we booked a table for the Monday prior to our departure back south. So why did we have? Eggs Benedict (amazing) Pancakes with crispy bacon & hash browns(amazing) Full English (absolutely amazing) The staff could not do enough for us & we’re very friendly. The service was exceptional and the quality of the food and drink was outstanding. The whole plaice fish was exquisite, demonstrating the kitchen staff know how to cook fish. Overall, my family very much enjoyed the food and the atmosphere; food is good value for the portion sizes. The location was good. Public carpark very close, with pay and display parking. I only gave it four stars rather than five as I called ahead, and the young gentleman that answered refused to say if there were available tables (I was 110 yds away). When we arrived, he indicated there weren't any tables, yet a lady offered us two high-top tables (Thank you). I recently went to meet a good friend Ant Everest here in torrential rain 🌧️ I was saturated as I'd rode my motorbike from Eskdale (Yellow Warning ⚠️) so it was good to be out of the rain for a while. The staff were very accommodating and very welcoming 👍 Unfortunately on my way back to Eskdale I had a bad accident on my motorbike which saw it written off but at least I walked away from it👍

This is not a review of the food, as I didn't eat. Nor is it the accomodation, as I didn't stay. It is a review of a pint of Guinness I had there today. Tuesday afternoon, nice and quiet.. popped in for a pint. £5.10p. Very reasonable. Unfortunately downhill from there. I'll bullet point the problems.. to avoid a drawn out affair.. 1. The glass wasn't dry. You can tell this from the creeping mottled effect visible. 2. The head is about 5mm 3. There is Guinness spilt down the outside of the glass. 4. It tasted utterly awful. The first three problems on this list are forgivable.. but the last isn't. I've had many pints of Guinness, in many places.. but this was in the bottom 3. Very disappointed. Given that you can buy a four pack from the supermarket for roughly the same outlay.. people bemoan pubs going out of business... but do we ask why? Bartenders being able to pour/keep a decent pint helps..

Good pub and grub In the middle of the town

Easily accessible location. Food came about 20mins after ordering despite being packed out. Couldn’t book a table in advance so chanced a walk in. Managed to get table in dining area. I had 1/2 chicken, veg and gravy. The portion was huge. Didn’t expect such a large portion. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Partner had GF burger which again was a decent portion and was nice

Me and my partner have been staying in Ulverston and liked The Farmers so much we visited twice! Really lovely place, nice relaxed atmosphere and the food was amazing. Good vegan and vegetarian options and the portions were very generous and reasonably priced. Staff were all friendly and very good. Food came out really quickly on both occasions. Would absolutely recommend this lace if you're staying in Ulverston or the surrounding area.

Decided to go for a breakfast and were not disappointed, we both had a full English and Latte to start our day. The coffee was a let down it was only warm and not hot . Otherwise the staff were on the ball and everything was OK. There was a steady amount of customers and easy to see why being situated in a perfect location.
