Kim and I had an absolutely lovely time. We did not want to come home. The staff were great, as I would have expected. I am not sure I have ever met a DT staff member who wasn’t attentive, personable and very obliging and we felt thoroughly looked after. The hotel was spotless and it was a lovely place to stay. The room with the view was beautiful and we enjoyed seeing the incredible views over Windermere. The attached was last night at dusk and was a right treat!!

Mixed emotions. We went for Sunday lunch and it was delicious if a little pricey. It was busy enough to warrant a sign at the entrance saying bookings only. The service was below par. The staff were friendly enough but I had to ask to be taken to table and they forgot our desert order. The mixed emotions come from watching a family of 4 being treated harshly. They had dropped in, despite the sign at the entrance, but only for a drink, not lunch. Virtually all of the tables on the balcony were free albeit marked reserved. They simply wanted a drink and to enjoy the stunning views over the Lake. They were turned away. It felt very harsh to me.

The staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. We brought ebikes, which they stored securely for us. My partner is vegetarian and they made bespoke dishes for him that themselves were exceptional. Great visit.

We've driven past this place many times, and it's been recently refurbished, and always thought you'd have to be well heeled to visit...today the queue into Ambleside backed up exactly to their entrance,so we turned in and tried a drink on the terrace overlooking Windermere The staff, without question, made us feel welcome and the drinks whilst relatively expensive ,weren't extortionate...and look at the setting...! We vowed to try some food next time(late afternoon lite bites kept coming out and all seemed well recieved) I think the rooms are a little beyond our modest means but Langdale Chase is certainly a lovely place to visit for whatever reason

The hotel is in at a great lake location with impressive views and has been refurbished to a very high quality level with all the specs of a 5 star hotel. But the service and how the staff behaves to the guests feels more like a B&B or youth hostel. It feels not right if you want to offer fine dining food experiences for a very high price but no one has a clue what they serve to the guests. Or if you pay 300 GBP for a one time laundry service and you have to bring the clothes to the reception yourself and they tell you that they won't bring it back to the room. Thats why some people will call it pretentious and it doesn't feel right even if every staff I've talked to was very nice and friendly. They are just not trained or not able to deliver on the level this hotel wants to be. Any time you ask for something you feel worried cause you have the impression you push them to their limits. Thats certainly not what you expect if you pay a very high price and want to relax and enjoy your stay.

We went for afternoon tea and were beyond disappointed. Pros The views are amazing. Spectacular location on lake Windermere. Cons We waited a long time for the food to arrive and when it did it was appalling. The tiny sandwiches were served on stale bread, the cheddar doughnut was tasteless, the ham hock was also tasteless & the size of a postage stamp. Given what was presented to us and the fact it was being charged at £55 per head we refused to pay and left. The section of food was extremely poor. If you are going to try and do a twist on afternoon tea and make it à la carte with a price to match it has to be good, this was anything but. Ended up going to a local pub and got an amazing sandwich for a fraction of the price! If you are looking to book afternoon tea do not use this hotel otherwise you will be severely disappointed and out of pocket.

A very wonderful and exceptional place. The staff is very friendly, the rooms are spacious and overlook the lake. The juice was served in the outdoor seating area overlooking the lake, and I thank them for their kindness and warm welcome to me and my family. But today I arrived at the hotel and faced a problem, which is an unenviable situation. I booked through the Booking app and requested a room for 2 adults and 2 children while visiting the area with my family. But when I arrived, I was surprised that the receptionist told me that my reservation was for two adults only. Of course I was surprised and this was shocking news to me. So I said ok, what is the solution? I can take my kids to my room because the room is very spacious. He refused and told me that no more than two people could stay in the room!! Ok, where do I put my children? He told me that you should rent another room and each of you stay with a child in a separate room!!? Regardless of the costs already paid in the reservation, I will have to pay for another closed room that I will not use. I do not know this policy because of breakfast or what exactly! ? I wonder if I came to sit with my family and enjoy my time with them. Or should I stay in isolation with my 4-year-old son? And my wife stays with my 4 year old daughter? this is unbelievable . I was really upset about this. Also, my Booking app included a relaxing bathtub, but I was given a room that did not have a bathtub, just a sprinkler on the floor! I hope that the hotel management will review my reservation and express their point of view on this problem that may face any hotel guest. It is not fair for me to pay rent for a closed room that I did not use or enter during my stay in the hotel!

Incredible hotel with stunning views and excellent rooms. I had a great time at Langdale Chase and thought it was great value for the money. The hotel really felt like a historical manor with lots of little details in the rooms and woodworking but with all the bells and whistles of a modern hotel.

Amazing hotel with epic views over lake Windermere. The weather was appauling when we stayed so made full use of the hotel and the room. We found the staff to be friendly, polite and professional. We only eat breakfast in the hotel, we went elsewhere for our evening meal. We found the food quality excellent, with plenty of options. We will be returning.

Has been revamped much lighter interior new tables an chairs. Anyone whose been before will notice the change. Seems to be more staff. Very helpful very attentive. As usual great views over Lake Windermere and a decent garden for a walk. I had burger and fat chips both cooked well. Burger was tasty and moist. No oven chips hurray. Apple Crumble slightly although tasty was disappointing. The apple was more of a sauce texture apart from that hic up. Definitely re visiting

We have stayed at Langdale Chase several times over the last few years, and have to say that we were rather disappointed with our recent stay (since the hotel has been refurbished). Bed and breakfast cost around £3,000 for 6 nights, and we were expecting a really luxurious experience for this amount of money. Sadly, upon arrival, we could not stay in our suite (which was going to cost a further £800), due to an awful smell pervading the rooms - which had just been refurbished - that seemed to originate from the heating grille. We were immediately moved next door to a smaller room and the staff were incredibly helpful with this move.... But not a great start for us, as we did not get to stay in the larger superior room(s) which we had originally booked and were really looking forward to. We were also provided with portable heaters in our new accommodation, so that the main heating did not exude a smell when turned on in that room too! Our new room was still lovely and there were several nice touches, such as free drinks in the fridge upon arrival, lovely bath salts, 2 bite-sized cakes provided each day to go with tea/coffee, pillow sprays and bathrobes and slippers. However, very disappointingly, several of the basics were very poor ......... There were no hooks at all in the entrance to the room, meaning that wet coats etc could not be hanged in the entrance away from the sleeping area, but ended up being draped over bannisters and the back of chairs. There were also no hooks provided in/near the walk-in shower or near the bath, meaning that towels and washbags had to be placed on the bathroom floor whilst taking a bath or shower! ... Provision of a stool and hooks in the bathroom would be great, albeit basic, additions. On three out of the 6 days, our room had not been serviced when we returned at around 3pm, meaning that we could not immediately shower/bathe, as there were no clean towels. We found this very frustrating as we had to call reception and then it was easier to leave our room again for quite some time while it was serviced, as we had 2 dogs with us. Service in the lounge was poor. We were left with dirty main course plates in front of us for 45 minutes at dinner, then kept waiting about another half an hour for one dessert. On one occasion we waited over half an hour for breakfast, which was barely warm when it eventually arrived. Toast and extras often did not appear until we had finished our breakfast and one morning there were items missing from the "full English" - without apology, explanation or offer of alternative/extra items. We felt that the quality of the refurbishment was not up to the original standards of the hotel. The carpentry and furniture seemed quite flimsy, and in the grounds there were several badly chipped and broken new paving stones, missing stonemasonry, thin handrails that protruded dangerously onto the path, and there were areas of the gardens that were little better than totally unestablished and boggy, therefore almost unsightly in places - as well as a muddy nightmare if the dogs walked there. We just hope that the hotel recovers its previous standards of service, and that the refurbishment proves to be a worthwhile success. We will probably return, in the hope that these issues get ironed out now that the property is up and running again, but seems there is a way to go.

An impromptu choice to visit Plato's today and what a brilliant decision and choice. We had a really superb meal and were made to feel very welcome by Ronnie, who looked after us! We had the fish finger sourdough sandwich and the chicken and paprika mayo sandwich...accompanied by parmesan and truffle chips 🍟 😋 absolutely delicious. All washed down with a delightful glass of rose wine. We will definitely be returning. It was such a great culinary treat.
