I don’t usually write reviews however having almost been put off booking from reading some I wanted to praise how amazing our weekend has been. I booked the 2 night foodie escape offer as a surprise for my partners 30th birthday and we honestly couldn’t be happier, from start to finish everything was perfect! We arrived at 1:30pm expecting to explore the village before being able to check in at 3pm but were lucky enough to have our room available early. Reception staff were lovely and always said hello any time we passed throughout our stay. Our double room was clean and spacious with a nice bathroom, the king size bed felt huge and very comfortable! Although our room overlooked part of the car park we still had a great view of the mountains and didn’t experience any noise. A card and box of chocolates had also been left to celebrate the birthday which was a much appreciated special touch! We had a gorgeous dinner in the hotel our first evening, highly recommend the beef gnocchi and lamb shoulder! Breakfast both mornings was possibly the best breakfast we’ve had in a UK hotel, we loved the option of help yourself or made to order from the menu, staff were really friendly and attentive. We waited no more than 5 minutes for our coffee and toast, which if you’re getting your own breakfast by the time you’re back it was pretty much perfect timing to it arriving! We also enjoyed afternoon tea over the weekend which again did not disappoint, very generous portions and delicious! Pool area although not huge was still relaxing and enjoyable, we were in there at the same time as around 5 other couples and there was still plenty of room. The sauna was amazing and a real highlight for me! Honestly a 10/10 weekend! Don’t need to review the scenery as that speaks for itself - completely stunning, as is the village of Grasmere. Perfect base for plenty of amazing walks. The electric car charging was also a great bonus for us! I feel it was well worth the amount paid and would 100% return in the future!

Romantic SPA hotel by the Lakes. Room was spacious and clean with extra large double bed. No mini fridge in the room. Modern bathroom. The staff is friendly and welcoming. SPA is brilliant with a sauna, steam room, jacuzzi, water jet neck massage. All included in the booking, no need to pay extra. We dined in the hotel restaurant, food was good and well priced.

We went as a honeymoon destination after our wedding a few years ago and made this clear on booking. We booked a suite and requested a bath (4/6 of the suites have them so shouldn't have been hard). I have never been more disappointed in a hotel, absolutely no effort was made to make anything 'special', we didn't get a room with a bath and the additional Moulton Brown toiletries didn't exist. Also, in the book in the room, room service food is served until 10pm but then we were told the kitchen shuts at 9.30. Maybe this hotel is fine for a business trip but sadly I wouldn't return. We spent > £560 here so not a cheap break either. Although this was a few years ago, this still seems to be the case now seeing reviews.

Perfectly placed for Grasmere village and walks up in the nearby hills. Great bus service to Ambleside etc as well. Small gripes over the half-interested reception staff, but it's minor. Overall, very happy and would recommend 👌

A group of couples went having spent well over a grand and so disappointed in some of the staff. The spa pool is loud and echoey, yet one member of staff felt it was appropriate to shout (yes shout at a group of adults!) to tell us to be quiet. Other staff heard this and escalated internally. One of our group suffers from social anxiety disorder, so this event was a trigger which absolutely ruined the joint birthday trip. The woman didn't even have the decency to apologise after a complaint was made. Not even an offer of a drink to apologise on behalf of the inappropriately behaved staff member. On top of this, the bar had no staff so someone kindly jumped off reception to serve us. She was told off and chastised like in school in front of other customers. I could see how shook up she was and the bar manager just walked off. Disgraceful way to treat helpful staff - maybe make sure your bar is appropriately staffed you clown. Breakfast was good, but the service was slow (albeit friendly team). Coffee took about 30 mins and had to chase twice. The evening meal was OK, nothing special. Again, staff friendly enough in the restaurant. Room was clean and bed was comfy. Be careful on room service charge. Didn't tell me on the phone it's a £10 tray charge which meant a sandwich cost more than an evening meal in the restaurant. Such a shame as we'd all been looking forward to this to celebrate our birthdays. It's tough in January anyway, but then to spend so much and get such a below par experience was frustrating.

Quite average for the price, room was nice but the spa was quite underwhelming. They said the restaurant was full but checked multiple times and it was under 50% capacity. Waiter in the lounge was very nice.

Wonderful place with friendly and professional staff. Food was absolutely fantastic both nights. Only thing to improve is the selection for the continental breakfast, they need to add some cheese and cold meats. Apart from that, nothing else to say! We had a wonderful time and we will be back.

We booked this stay for my boyfriend's birthday; the location was ideal for Grasmere/Ambleside, and the steam room and sauna were nice. However, I did encounter some issues during my stay. Firstly, the hotel is much more dated than shown in the photos. The spa pool was smaller and shallower than shown, so I would bear this in mind if you are after a swim with your spa stay. Secondly, the staff experience was rather poor. When we arrived at 1 pm, we were uncertain whether the room would be ready. When we went to reception to check in, there was no greeting or offer of assistance; instead, a lady stared at us until either my boyfriend or I asked if we could check-in. She also provided no information about when the check-out time was when we could use the spa facilities or the parking. The breakfast was okay, nothing special but there was some nicer staff members here. It is important to mention, that the bed and pillows were both very hard so a lot of disruptive sleep, unfortunately. Also, as mentioned it was my boyfriend's birthday, however, there was no acknowledgement which is why I would suggest skipping this hotel if you want a special experience for any special occasion. Over all, it was a disappointing stay, and for the price, I expected more.

I recently stayed at the Daffodil Hotel, and I have to say, it was a delightful experience from start to almost finish. The reception staff greeted us with warm smiles and were incredibly helpful throughout our stay. The buffet breakfast was a dream come true for any food lover, with a spread that left us spoiled for choice. The spa facilities were just as luxurious as advertised. However, we did encounter an unexpected guest in the jacuzzi—a large shark looking for a snack! While the spa's ambiance was serene, the surprise visitor added an unexpected thrill to our relaxation. Attached is a photo of the shark's handiwork. Despite our aquatic adventure, we had a fantastic time, and the staff handled the situation with humor and professionalism. We'd definitely recommend the Daffodil Hotel for anyone looking for an unforgettable stay.

Really disappointed. Hotel was nice (not £200 nice) but the staff were not. Asked if we were staying at the hotel repeatedly then asked to clear our bill before we had finished our evening (although previously told we could charge to the room for convenience). Made to feel inferior and belittled Can only be because we had hoodies on for dinner.

Great location if you want to walk straight out the hotel and smash a swim across Grasmere and around the island. Scenic corner of the lakes. The pool/sauna/bubble bath is warm and clean and a good way to adapt your plans if the best of the Lakeland weather scuppers your plans for a hike.

Lovely hotel and place to stay for a restful weekend The young lady at the front desk was friendly and helpful Lifts and rooms very easy to find with good signage Good sized bedroom, finished to a high standard of fixtures and decor. Good heating / air conditioning Massive super king sized bed. Very firm mattress but I prefer that . Had evening meal on the first night, food and service was excellent. Best off booking the table when you check in, as I believe the restaurant was full and people were turned away Breakfast was a hot buffet and quality was very good. No black pudding but everything else I’d expect was available Location is just 3.5 miles outside Ambleside, on a main road. Most room situated off the road and good double glazing so I never found it an issue Right on grasmere and you can walk round it in about 1.5-2hours Only Cons I have from the stay Number one - Bar didn’t open until 7pm. If I’ve driven a good distance or been out for a long walk, I would like to get a drink. Would suggest a 3-4pm opening time. Prices were reasonable and less than I expected for a 4**** hotel. Number two - Even trying to book in advance there were no available slots for spa treatments, it was part of the reason why we booked this hotel Number three - room cleaning staff congregated outside our room and were shouting back and forth to each other. It was fairly early and woke us up. Also, shame about the company 😆

Beautiful hotel in an excellent location. Great views of Grasmere, nice scenery all around. Spa facilities are superb. I really enjoyed that. The hotel lounges, restaurants and bar areas are top quality. The food was amazing. We ate in the main restaurant and sitting room. Couldn't find fault with anything. The hospitality staff are all superb. Helpful, courteous and friendly. Especially Lin who went the extra mile to be helpful and friendly. We would stay here again

First Class Hotel, excellent service throughout our stay, staff here are brilliant. Went with some trepidation by taking our 7 month old cockapoo that hasn't conquered separation anxiety. We needn't have worried as everyone loved her and a table for breakfast and evening meal was prepared for us in a separate room so that she could stay with us at all times. Other than that personal note rooms here are always clean and if you have lake view you probably won't want to leave, the large grounds are beautiful with spectacular scenery.
