Oaks Restaurant in South Lakeland

We had a gorgeous meal in Oaks restaurant. A 3 course feast that started with Coquilles St Jacques (a wonderful mixture of scallops and potato) main was perfectly cooked lamb and, to finish, Creme Brûlée. My fellow dinner guests all had something different but every plate was clear and a lot of contented nodding was going on. Bravo!

It was such a treat to go out for a meal during the pandemic that the food was almost my secondary concern. However, once we sat down to eat in The Oaks Restaurant I remembered everything I loved best about fine dining. The menu was very impressive, lots of choice and many of the dishes featured locally sourced produce which was a bonus. An extensive wine list also accompanied the menu and the staff were really helpful describing the dishes and what they contained. I opted for the chicken parfait which was beautifully presented with warm crusty bread and relish. It tasted as good as it looked. For the main course I chose Lakeland lamb, beautifully cooked, pink and lean with fresh potatoes and seasonal vegetables. I skipped dessert and went straight for the cheeseboard, such an impressive display of produce again beautifully presented with crackers and a bowl of frozen grapes. Who knew such a simple thing could really bring out the taste of cheese. The staff were excellent, all observing social distancing measures and all wearing facemasks which can't be easy when they are customer facing. But it certainly didn't interfere with their service standards. An excellent meal, lovely wine and great company. The best kind of night out. I should just add that breakfast the next morning was excellent too. The staff were happy to swop and change items for us and the meal arrived freshly cooked and was just what we ordered. So much better that a breakfast buffet!

Lo mejor de este restaurante son los jardines y la entrada principal. . . especialmente la fuente y el aspecto rústico de la antigua casa de campo. . . el interior es terrible. ¿Antiguo y una mezcla de nuevo? ? No estoy seguro de lo que está sucediendo dentro de este edificio, pero está regateado y definitivamente necesita una actualización y limpieza. Para un restaurante caro, sentimos que estábamos sentados en una extensión en Butlins (mucha luz de estrellas por todas partes), se pueden ver mesas de cubiertos, sobres de papel con sal y pimienta en la mesa. . . es realmente un desastre. ¿Cómo pueden pretender ser un restaurante de alta cocina cuando la mesa en la que nos sentaron se usó para mantener las puertas abiertas? ¡No podrías inventar esto! ! La comida era insípida. Vieiras era un gran lío de concha con patatas y pequeñas vieiras rellenas de queso. . . no sabía nada bien. Nuestros platos principales eran pollo, sosa con musrooms y puré. . . porción enorme que se parecía más a un almuerzo asado de domingo barato. . ninguna presentación en absoluto. Simplemente terrible. Como estaban tratando de ser un establecimiento de alta cocina, nos dieron limpiadores de paletas después del entrante, pero estos se colocaron frente a nosotros sin que nadie nos dijera qué eran. . . lo sabíamos de todos modos. El postre era sencillo y agradable, nada especial. . . sabía mejor que el entrante y los platos principales, aunque afortunadamente. Esta no es una comida FINA en absoluto y, para ser honesto, deben tener en cuenta la calidad de la comida y el servicio que brindan, además del entorno en el que están trabajando. ¡Todo debe mejorar enormemente! ! No hubo controles de temperatura, no se tomaron pistas ni detalles de rastreo. Nos sentamos en un salón para tomar unas copas sin distanciamiento social. No podíamos esperar para irnos. . . no visitar de nuevo.

Tuvimos que llegar para comer 20 minutos antes de nuestra reserva y nos llevaron al bar, nos relajamos y hablamos un poco. El personal era fabuloso y nos dio un gran servicio en todo. La comida era fantástica y creo que te gustaría cada opción.

Mi hija y mi yerno se casaron aquí en junio de 2019 y fue mágico. El personal era muy servicial, el lugar perfecto y la comida era deliciosa. Recomiendo encarecidamente este lugar para un breve descanso o lugar de boda

He comido en muchos restaurantes a lo largo de los lagos en los últimos 10 años, especialmente en esta área, y estoy encantado de que finalmente haya encontrado el restaurante Broadoaks Oaks. Simplemente guau. En mi opinión, esto es de lo que se tratan las experiencias gastronómicas excepcionales: un personal atento y bien educado que fue un placer charlar. Las recomendaciones de maridaje del vino son importantes para mí y la sugerencia de Robi no me decepcionó. Todos los 4 platos eran visualmente hermosos y cada bocado era una sensación de sabor. He comido en muchos restaurantes con calificación Michelin y esto es hasta allí con ellos en mi opinión. Y un lugar aislado tan mágico ubicado entre majestuosos bosques, ¡muy romántico! ¡No puedo esperar a regresar!

We have dined here on a number of occasions and the food is always to the highest standard as is the varied menu choices. Carefully prepared with the finest ingredients and beautifully presented. Would highly reccomend, and very much looking forward to our next visit.

Breakfast served at very civilised times allowing for the luxury of a lie-in! Plenty of choice and if you wanted something that wasn't on the menu, you only had to ask. Dinner was delicious, excellent choices and a good range of wines offered. Service attentive but not intrusive.

Great wedding day dinner and fabulous breakfast the next day. Nothing too much trouble for any of the staff and great produce used.

the house is incredible and the food and wine are delicious. we tried the house red - not something we ever do - but somehow we had a feeling we wouldn't be disappointed. We weren't!

Io l'ho provato a fine luglio, e ho pernottato nell'hotel. Sia la cena che il pranzo sono state all'altezza delle aspettative; buona cucina e molto ben presentata..da provare un arrosto di prosciutto (non ricordo il nome esatto del piatto) caramellato e il souffle con formaggio di capra. Il personale molto cortese e decisamente all'altezza dell'hotel 5 stelle!! La colazione su richiesta la si può consumare nel patio accanto al ristorante (tempo permettendo)

Everything was amazing, I would recommend the asparagus to start, followed by the chicken then sticky toffee pudding for dessert, all where very tasty and not too heavy. Staff where very helpful.

The title says it all...food top notch from the first course which was a fish platter served on a slate with delightful treats to tantalise our taste buds main course for me was cod with a risotto of crayfish,some of the best fish cooking I have ever had,,and the sweet of sticky toffee pudding was that good I wanted to lick the plate..wines beautiful,service unbeatable....truly the whole eating experience is so good we will be going again...

Excellent food and drinks. Lovely wine list, and very reasonable prices! Cocktail menu is quite decent. Would really recommend for a fuss free Chrismas! Friendly attentive staff!

Tuve el placer de comer aquí durante los tres días que pasé en Broadoaks. Las primeras dos comidas eran parte de un menú seleccionado por la fiesta de boda, y estaban bien presentadas con excelentes platos sabores. Una gran comida para jubilosa ocasión.

When I got married here, the food was amazing!As I stayed for two night we also had breakfast - which was beautiful!

Incredible food cooked by a chef who knows their flavours! We chose different meals both nights and all four were a triumph!

We ate at the restaurant on 2 consecutive nights, so 4 completely different meals. The food was stunning. Presented superbly on the plate with some wondefful flavours. Good varied menu to suit all tastes. Definitely a restaurant to visit. The waiting staff all also very professional.

The menu was varied and beautifully presented. Tastes were amazing. I loved the little extras inbetween courses.

I should start off by saying I've also reviewed this restaurant as part of a review about the Broadoaks Country House (which I recommended). Relating purely to this restaurant I would simply say that it is marginally more expensive than I think it should be, as well as being a little overly formal, but..... the food is so so delicious (I am still thinking about it, 24 hours later) and the service is also excellent. So if you're a foody and would like to treat you and your partner to food that is a level above most other restaurants, then go here. I have given it 5 stars accordingly.

Evening meal with good ambience and very attentive staff. Chef deserves praise and credit for presentation and originality in the dishes served. Would be nice to see waiters serve from right and clear from left to avoid leaning across table, but very minor point and so easy to address.

Well cooked food and beautifully presented. Great choice for breakfast including a cooked to order 'Grill' - superb ! Evening meal was delightful, and delicious, couldn't fault a thing !! Service was attentive and friendly and nothing was too much trouble and was served in a relaxed atmosphere. Well recommended.

Excellent quality, and very accommodating. Great experience! Canapes, 3 courses and a palate cleaning melon sorbet. Service was exactly right. Dinner and drinks order was taken whilst we were eating canapes in the William Morris designed music room.

The food and service at the Oaks at Broadoaks is delightful. The menus change regularly. I'm not a vegetarian, but their non-meat options were so appealing I opted for them on several occasions during our stay. Equally their meat dishes are delicious. A lovely dining experience.
