Love this place. The decor is really nice. The staff are friendly and helpful. The food is fantastic. The house kebab and the butter curry are awesome. Credit to the chef. My only gripe is the children’s menu, fish goujons, fish and chips, scampi and chips are 3 of the options and my kids hate fish. No chicken options at all. But this is still my favourite place to go in Kirkby Lonsdale.

We visited for Sunday lunch on Easter Sunday. We chose to eat in the dinning room as prefer not to eat in dog friendly spaces. The restaurant was quiet but pleasant. The Sunday lunch was very good and served on very hot plates which I love. Beautiful pink beef. Crispy roast potatoes and creamy mash. Tasty flavourful gravy. Desert was pleasant but we were too full to really enjoy it. Will definitely return.

After a long walk, (you know when your legs are like jelly and you're a bit delirious), the Three Hares Cafe was a caramel-packed safehaven. I've visited hundreds of cafes (and reviewed a fair few on here) and the negative reviews are a little baffling. Yes, the scones look burnt but they are airy light and a welcome companion to a brew. Funnily enough, they probably know how to make a decent scone given the expertise across the road at the Black Bull Inn. It is a small cafe, only a few tables, that doubtless gets filled quickly but Sedbergh has alternatives nearby if you're stuck. They nailed my preference for a caramel slice (90% oozing caramel) and the pies and other bits we took home all hit the spot. Special mention for their donuts. They look like giant charred cannon balls that ooze jam. Glorious when warmed up.

After a stroll alongside the river and around the town my wife and I called at the café for lunch. The fish was delicious, large flakes of fish in a light crispy batter, the chips appeared to have been warmed up and were a little overcooked for our taste but weren’t inedible and the service by the lady was exemplary. Altogether a pleasant experience and we will call again when in the area.

Went here for the first time at end of November - the mill itself has some very interesting stalls, worth a visit if you like crafts. The food in the cafe was good. Very busy when we were there but service was good. However the place was really cold!! There is no heating and everyone was sat in their coats. This did detract from the experience and for that reason I won't rush back until the summer! It is nice that it's dog friendly - we did a lovely walk from here.

Lovely greeting by young ladie at the bar. My husband had the vegi breakfast nicely presented, very tasty reasonably priced. I had soup of the day along with a sausage roll. Again well presented very meaty sausage roll. I took the sausage roll home with me. Will definitely be going again. I was particularly pleased with the service as we were not there for a game of golf just the lunch. We were not rushed after eating so had a coffee and my husband had a couple of drinks from the bar.

My wife and I visited Kirkby Lonsdale for a short break at the beginning of May. On our last night we wanted a special meal to remember our fantastic trip to a lovely part of the UK. We were lucky enough to choose Plato's for this occasion. From walking in and speaking to the lovely girl behind the bar to leaving after having the most wonderful Chateaubriand the evening was perfect. This place serves the best food and wine with the best service. Ten out of ten and the next time we visit Kirkby Lonsdale we will certainly be going to Plato's again. Thanks for a lovely evening!!

Fab location. Venue going down hill though. Visted 2 years ago and again last weekend. Not very welcoming and manager is quite arrogant. Very typically southerner attitude and not best placed in the north. Shame.

I've been a regular at the bakery for many years and am used to the explosions from the kitchen and owner - which are often quite funny. However today was way beyond what anyone would find reasonable. I'm not sure what happened but another customer appeared to have tried to have ordered a variation from the menu. Which as usual was met by a tirade of abuse from the chef in the kitchen which everyone could hear. However, when the chef/owner stormed out of the kitchen and pushed a waitress out of the way - this went to another level. Another waitress had to physically restrain him from attacking the customer - all the time while he was shouting abuse. From what could sometimes be seen as an amusing situation became quiet threatening. A group of middle aged women trying to stop a large man attacking a customer! The looks on the waitresses faces ranged from shocked to embarrassed - but they all seem resigned - as if this is a regular occurrence. As soon as things calmed down - we left. And sadly won't be coming back. The owner needs to realise that this type of behaviour is not acceptable and the staff frankly just need to leave.
