Delicious vegan mozzarella on my pizza!

Lovely meal here last night. Food was excellent and the atmosphere was great. A really nice chilled vibe in the bar area, which is where we were seated. Lots of choice on the menu and great wine selection. Will definitely come back

The bus didnt arrive to Kendal so as they are local my Mum and son decided to have lunch here instead of in town. As usual the staff were lovely and very accomodating which in their circumstances today was very much appreciated - so thank you! As usual they said the food was utterly fantastic and very quickly served.

The courtyard is a little gem. Tucked away at the back of the restaurant it is a lovely spot to soak up the sun and enjoy a coffee or glass wine.

It's a warm and welcoming Italian/Spanish/Med restaurant with a good selection of pizza, pasta, meat and fish dishes and a gorgeous selection of wine. Good food, a lovely atmosphere and friendly staff.

Beautiful place to eat. Wonderful walled garden. Dogs welcome.. Good choice of food presented and served well . If we're in the area again would definitely eat here again

First visit. We asked if there was a table, 6pm, about 7 staff all girls hanging around the bar, one asked if we’d booked, said we hadn’t but wasn’t aware you had to. She said only bookings on that night…Sat 31st Aug. She seemed to smirk and her cronies found it amusing! Whatever the restaurant is like these lazy, ignorant staff are definitely letting it down! We went to the Brewery which has fabulous staff, a warm welcome and a fantastic atmosphere! No guesses where we’ll go if we are in Kirkby Lonsdale again!!!

Excellent food and great value. I had the pepperoni pizza which was thin and spicy. My wife had the tuna which was superb. Very nice ambiance and decor. Good service.

Staying in the area, we decided to have an early diner at the Avanti. The garden area was busy but the inside was not, nobody else on the first floor apart from us. The young lady server apologised and said more people would be in shortly...fine by us. The menu has interesting choices, a bit different from tadeonal Italian restaurants. I opted for spicy sausage pizza. It arrived freshly cooked and looked very appetising; it tasted nice. Prices are reasonable for the quality of food and service at this refreshing restaurant.

All of the wait staff provided efficient and friendly service. The spacing of the starters and mains was good, with drinks service well timed within. Felt very welcomed and looked after.

We were at this restaurant last night and we had a really special dinner. The food was fantastic from start to finish. They must have a great chef! The staff were friendly and helpful and there was a welcoming atmosphere.

We used to frequent The Aventi all the time but afters yesterday we will not revisit. The staff have absolutely no idea how to make a decent coffee. A waste of time and money.

Poor experience from rude staff. Avoid. This is a venue with potential. We went in on what wasn't a particularly busy night and still managed to receive awful service. For somewhere which prides itself on its selection of drinks, their knowledge and stock control are woeful. Ahead of a meal, we ordered a glass of port and a glass of Madeira wine. Neither option were available, so we went for two glasses of an alternative (pricier) port. There was only enough in the bottle for one glass, and they didn't have any more bottles in stock, so we had to make yet another choice for the second drink. By this point I'd paid and whilst the final alternative was significantly cheaper, the staff made no attempt to partially refund. Sadly, the poor experience didn't end there as we then heard the staff commenting on our drink choices - A highly unprofessional approach and one which I can only imagine stemmed from the embarrassment caused by their total lack of menu / product knowledge and inadequate stock control. Needless to say, after that level of disrespect, we didn't stay for the meal. Avoid. **05.07.2023 - Update following your reply: - You'll see that I leave a large number of reviews, largely very positive, and my views are well-trusted. On this occasion I simply had to reflect on our poor experience - Thank you for looking into your stocks. You say that your fortified wine stocks are complete, so there definitely appears to be a staff knowledge / training gap or a storage / signage issue here - It's a shame that there was no acknowledgement or apology for how we were treated by your staff within your response. That was the number one thing which led me to leaving a negative review - after all, everyone runs out of stock from time to time and I'd have been more forgiving of that if the staff weren't so rude. Talking about us behind our backs and mocking our drink choices is unacceptable. We were so accommodating, patient and respectful whilst they looked for the items that we had requested, only to be disrespected. It's a shame that you didn't respond to that element of my original review - You also didn't acknowledge the over-payment, which should have been observed and rectified at the time

Usually love Avanti, however the service was really poor on our recent visit. Lots of waitresses but none of whom seemed to know what to do. No one greeted us on arrival and our table wasn’t ready despite arriving on time. Had to ask/prompt them to clear our table/provide menus/the bill etc. Waited an hour for our main course. The food was good although our friends who had visited earlier the same evening did not enjoy their meals and found the pizzas very disappointing. Hope they can improve again cos we’ve had some lovely meals here in the past and with much better service!

Service was a little hit and miss The staff were friendly enough but we waited so long to order coffees that I eventually approached the bar myself to ask . The food wasn’t the best to be honest , garlic bread probably the least tasty I’ve had and the pasta dishes flavours were average . I expected better !

Me and my partner went here for a date night. It’s a great location for such an occasion. Unfortunately it was raining when we went but the outdoor seating area looks like it’ll be a great spot in the sunshine. The portions are generous and the food is tasty, it has a good atmosphere here and all the art work on the walls is from a local artist and all available to purchase which is a nice touch

Stylish restaurant, excellent food and friendly waitresses. As a party of three, plus two dogs, we were made to feel very welcome. We were given a perfect table where the dogs could lay down out of the way. We had a selection of delicious starters. The Parmesan chicken was absolutely delicious. I can’t remember what my friends ate as I only had eyes for the amazing chicken dish but they were very happy too!

We stumbled on Avanti on a weekend break for the Lake District Ultra Marathon and we were not disappointed. Lovely and attentive staff. Food was tasty and really good value. A pleasure and must visit.

Excellent food and great value. Delicious food, with good service. We had favourite restaurant in Kirkby Lonsdale, now we have two! We would thoroughly recommend this venue for a meal out. We had King prawns (super lovely) then the Seared Tuna with samphire and vegs very well presented and cooked. If in Kirkby Lonsdale you should treat yourself. Great quality and value.

We booked a table specifically for outside but were told it wasn't reserved because it was outside. We then were told if we sit outside, we have to come to the bar. I figured this might be because they are short staffed but everytime I went inside there were 3 staff, one holding and stroking a dog, the other near the bar and the other behind the bar all seemingly not busy. Such a shame because service is so important and you definitely are not inclined to tip if you have to order and get your own drinks at the bar. Food was nice, fancy and quite overpriced which again is weird paired with such relaxed poor service. I think the atmosphere and attitude towards service needs some work at this establishment. We won't be back.

Absolutely loved this place, first visit and it won't be our last. Sat outside in the courtyard, taking in the afternoon sun. We only intended to stay for a drink, but we stayed longer and then had some nibbles. Sausage Pot and Potatoe Bravas, both were delicious.

Dined outside in a beautiful court yard....fabulous service ...delious food....fairly priced definitely going back .

Lovely food and beautiful outside seating area in a walled garden . Lovely service by the lovely Caroline. Grandson said it was the best meal he’d had in Kirby Lonsdale and he wants to come back. We Chose tapas and garlic bread and Hubster had soup . The whole Meal was delicious and good value for money . 4 people and drinks £51.00

Great bar / Restaurant with a great outdoor courtyard.

We had a nice meatball dish, but the roast vegetable tart was more stewed than roasted and paired with bland oily side salad. Skinny fries nice, freshly cooked and crispy. Overall mediocre experience.

Always go to Avanti when we visit KL.. never lets us down..

Had drinks and some lunches between the 5th and 11th April. All was good but booked an evening meal Tuesday but sadly was let down by the service. They forgot about us and failed to bring our meal. We will try again in July when next in Kirkby.

Great place to visit would definitely recommend. There aren’t too many choices in this small village, however Avanti is the one to choose if visiting!

Good service and nice place to eat however food was very disappointing. I can make better myself. Chef needs to go back to cookery school. Wouldn't actually recommend any of the dishes anyone of us had. How difficult is it it actually to make a pizza? Italian resturant with no tiramisu? The service and the staff were all good.

The Avanti is a first class Italian Restaurant, which offers great food, complemented by excellent staff, service and ambience. We shared polpette (pork meatballs) as a starter. For main courses my wife had steak and writes whilst I had Mar y Motana ( king prawns, chorizo, chilli & garlic with tagliatelle). We both really enjoyed our dining experience and my tagliatelle was really spicy and delicious. A really enjoyable dining experience. Highly recommended.

We stumbled across this ‘tucked away’ gorgeous restaurant & it was the highlight of our staycation. Stunning place with a cute little yard for those warmer days & nights! Unfortunately weather wasn’t great for us so we sat inside. Staff friendly & attentive. Food outstanding and delicious! We had starters and mains along with some afternoon alcoholic beverages. For my main I chose a my main meal but as a starter size and this was perfect for me as I was enjoying some sides too (I love tapas style eating) Highly recommend and hopefully will return if we ever find ourselves back within the area

Squeezed in at the last minute. Lovely food and super staff. Great decor and atmosphere - wish we lived nearer to come again.

On arrival, we were told that their supplier hadn't delivered the fish or steak for the top items on the menu, which we'd already decided on from their website. We rethought our plans feeling quite deflated, as the remaining menu was quite weak. 3 of our party chose the King Prawn starter, 1 without the chilli (which proved quite a spicy item). The standard versions looked good and our friends enjoyed them. My wife's version was visually different, in that her prawns were markedly browned on a side and rather dry in the mouth. All 3 agreed that 5 large prawns for £12.50 was not good value. My Garlic mushrooms on toasted ciabatta was lovely.... creamy, garlicky mushrooms sliced very thin - and a decent portion for £8.50. A very pleasant bowl of roasted corn and nuts had kept us going during quite a long wait for the starters. I'd have that again. For mains: a Haloumi Burger was enjoyed, a meatballs and pasta seemed dry and a bit mean. We 2 chose some small plates (sausage pot, croquetas, patata bravas and meatballs) and felt a little disappointed that nothing came with a little salad for the price. The decor downstairs is a little spartan and noise echoes - a party of lads at the next table were no trouble but were loud. Our friends had been some years before and felt upstairs was a nicer environment -but it was a Wednesday. Paying over £10 for a large wine - even though it was nice - and a final bill over £170, we didn't feel it was somewhere to go again.

Wow.Best Italian food I have ever had.Starters and mains all first class pasta was amazing so light in texture.Staff very friendly and chatty service excellent.A very enjoyable evening. Will be and can’t wait to come back.Will be highly recommending to family and friends. Thank you.

Lovely food and relaxing atmosphere

The service was rapid, friendly and the waitresses were polite and professional. Overall the food was excellent (fantastic fish). The deserts were good but not up to the quality of the main. The wine list was good with some very reasonably priced good wines.

Couldn’t fault a thing starters and mains were a good size portion and delicious wine by the bottle a fair price lovely staff. Highly recommend

Genuinely the best Italian I’ve had before! The cheesy garlic bread and bolognese pizza were incredible. The whole party said it was the best garlic bread and pizza we’d had before!

Lovely restaurant (booking advisable) nice atmosphere good lighting, nice warm feeling it's spacious & also cosy feel about it too , so well decorated There's an upstairs area for diners also downstairs has a larger floor area for bigger tables/families groups friends etc.. it's dog friendly. The staff are super friendly and will explain anything you ask if they don't know they'll check with kitchen. The food is fantastic 😋 We both had tagliatelle (pancetta & mushroom) mine was seafood tagliatelle ( without squid l asked if l could have this omitted) both delicious , garlic chill bread with our mains. Truffled Mushroom soup & ciabbatta, Pollpett (pork meatballs ) & toasted bread . Excellent flavours superb quality 👌. Will definitely be returning thanks guys

We had an amazing meal at Avanti, the staff were fantastic and the chef even sent my husband home with a doggy bag of gravy as he enjoyed it that much! The red velvet cheesecake was to die for!

Four of us visited Avanti on Tuesday 5 December food and service was excellent. We had the mushroom, tomato, ham starters and the star of the show was our main course we all ordered seafood tagliatelle - was truly outstanding full of fish. We enjoyed it so much we have booked to go again. Graham and his staff make everyone welcome.

We visit Avanti every time and book in advance as it’s always a busy venue to get in : This visit unfortunately the food was very mediocre . The service was particularly poor . The starter was literally thrown on the table , the food and service was fed back to staff .

Absolutely Superb! We hadn't booked, but the staff were lovely, and made us feel very welcome. It was a Sunday night, so most places in Kirkby Lonsdale were closed. It was like finding an oasis. Lovely atmosphere, with a great ambience. The food was out of this world! We had the seafood tagliatelle. WOW! The best we'd ever had. We were staying at the Royal, which by the way is a beautiful hotel. But our meal at Avanti, made our visit. A must for anyone visiting KL. x

Did not book went for a lovely evening meal. They had no trouble accommodating us, despite being well booked for the Saturday evening service. It’s Abarbistro, and as such drinkers, mostly quite young, were also present, but they didn’t really cause any problem. In fact, they’re quite entertaining to watch and listen to! The food was served quickly and was tasty and well presented. The service from the young, waiting on staff was exemplary. Really enjoyed visiting and the surroundings which were bright modern and clean. Our food was tasty and generous in proportions considering the price in the £15-£20 range.

Lovely meal this evening, fab pasta, great service and plenty on the menu for vegetarians (- not labelled as such, but the mozzarella on the pizzas is vegetarian) plus plenty of other options. Lovely trio of Spanish desserts. Highly recommend and look forward to visiting again.

I attended a birthday celebration. The staff couldn't have been better. The food was delicious.

My visit to Avanti in October 2023 was a bit of a mixed bag. The food was undeniably fantastic. There was 6 of us in our party, we all had three courses, and couldn’t fault any of the dishes. However, I can't overlook the service issues we encountered. The staff appeared inexperienced and had a rude attitude. When we had a problem with the bill, what seemed to be the manager's handling of the situation was far from ideal. Their attitude was abrasive and standoffish. In short, Avanti's food is top-notch, but there's a lot of room for improvement in the service department, especially when it comes to addressing customer concerns.

This is a hidden gem and made a nice change from the pub food that we'd eaten on our trip. The food was delicious and there was a varied selection. The stand out about this restaurant was the staff. They were all so attentive, polite and friendly and they really made the meal special for us.

Found this next door to where we we're staying, lovely food, great outdoor courtyard and excellent staff. Would recommend.

Lively spot with a good choice of food. Our dinner was delicious: pasta with king prawns and chorizo and a seafood pasta. Excellent wine and beer. The service was quick and friendly. Wish it was a little closer to home, we'd be regulars!

We had booked in advance through open table but it was an exceptionally quiet evening so perhaps booking was unnecessary however we were advised this would guarantee a table on busier days Whilst the food was good the menu did not reflect what had been advertised online I was looking forward to risotto and Tuscan fish stew but the menu seemed to be condensed and simplified fir easy to order The overall experience was ok however the staff mostly young students as the restaurant was quiet stood around on mobile phones I’m not complaining about our service which was attentive but staff on mobile phones doesn’t look very professional there also did seem to be an owner or senior manager in attendance to correct this situation particularly on a Saturday evening Not sure if staying again in KL if I would return here

My go to place in Kirkby Lonsdale. The food and service are always excellent. It is set back down a little ginnel so be careful not to miss it. From the main street it does look as though it might be closed but once you realise that the windows and doors on the street are not the entrance all is good.

Good coffee. Need menus out so you can see what you actually buy here.

Tried to order food last night by was refused because we did not book The place was empty the staff said they was expecting a lot of people to arrive But they never even asked what meal we wanted as we only wanted pizza and they do take out pizzas we left and will not be going back ever

I booked a table for 12 people, at the Avanti, for a family celebration. I had to pre-order all of the meals in advance, which was not a problem. The day before our booking I had to cancel one place, so I rang the restaurant and cancelled the steak ordered for that person. All well so far. We sat upstairs, in a very nice dining area. Our waitress was a lovely young lady but, unfortunately, several of our meals were not so nice. The starters were probably the best part of the meal. The main courses left a lot to be desired. The first mistake made was to bring the steak that I had cancelled the day before. We had 3 adult pizzas of different sorts and one child's pizza. Not one person, including my 2 year old grandson, was able to eat the pizza. Everyone complained that they were far too salty to eat and they all left their main course. I complained to our waitress, who was suitably apologetic, and arranged that we would not be charged for our deserts. I felt sorry for her as she was mortified, and, in retrospect, feel that someone more senior should have dealt with my complaint. I won't be going back.

Restaurant was amazing, just a shame that we couldn't hear ourselves think. There was a very noisy table with children getting bored and the lady on the table next to us was on the phone through most of our meal. It was supposed to be a romantic meal out for our Anniversary. Even so, food was very tasty and staff were very friendly

Great food, good location and staff. It was very quiet when we visited, but would definitely come again.

What a disappointment. Not been for about 3 years and took my mum for her 80th birthday. It was like a cafe and nothing like how Avanti was when the Italians were there. No music, no atmosphere, food inedible and no manager anywhere in sight. Run by a few 15 year olds with no idea whatsoever. Not their fault but the owner more interested in selling his speciality wines during the day. To avoid disappointment don’t book a meal for a special occasion. May be ok for a takeaway pizza.

We visited Avanti midmorning for coffee, and hoped to go back later for lunch. Unfortunately the coffee was awful, I didn't drink mine, we ordered flat white, which was very milky and not strong enough. Needless to say, we didn't go back for lunch as we would have wanted the said coffee afterwards.

Nice place to have a cosy drink especially in the back garden space. Disappointed with the bruchetta, chopped onions tasted pre boiled very soft and limp. Freshly chopped would be better. Besides that, would definitely go back if I was in the area.

Staff friendly but 2 out of three meals could have been better. Booked a low table but we were put on a high table. New potatoes were over cooked (grey) carrots over cooked with no taste. No salt, pepper or Parmesan offered. Pasta a bit dry. Think for price a few little changes would have made a big difference. Lovely and clean and nice outside area.

If I could give less I would. Went in at 8.30pm and politely asked for some takeaway, was told they were too busy. I stated all I wanted was a couple of pizzas and was happy to wait. Then the excuse of “the kitchen shuts in 10 minutes” - 8.40 would appear to be an odd time to shut a kitchen on a BH weekend. It wasn’t that busy, I saw empty seats, no one was sat at the bar. It was the dismissive attitude of the barman which infuriated me the most. They obviously make enough money because they can turn away a minimum of £50 without blinking. Yes they have a captured market as the only evening venue selling take away in the town who take card. Pick you customer service up Avanti!!

Came with my boyfriend for our last meal on our trip away, and we were blown away! Service was brilliant; really fast, attentive and friendly. Perfect atmosphere and super clean venue. Great location, easy walk from the town's central car park, dog friendly, amazingly varied and tasty menu, super helpful and friendly staff and reasonably priced. We'll be back.

Meet up with my mate...local to her..look forward each time..lovely surroundings..good freindly polite staff...credit to their parents tbh...and good honest plates of mediteranean inspired ingredients....hmm ..been 4xweeks...better get booked..yum.xx
