Absolutely stunning. Having spent lots of time in Italy with previous family I can safely say this is as close to that as you can get. In fact it’s better than most in Italy! The food, the wine , the service is all absolutely outstanding. My daughter and I both agree you simply will not find better. How Nonnas down the road can score higher is beyond me! If you want authentic food and wine then look no further. Enough said and hope you enjoy as much as we did.

We had a great meal out as a family of four. The ambience and lighting are good. Decent choice of beers and wine including Peroni and Wainwright. The service was good and attentive. We all enjoyed our respective dishes including chicken, pizza and pasta.

Tasty and fresh with good seating and quiet areas - there is a specially nice area upstairs for more intimate dining. I like that the music isn’t too loud so you can have conversations

Bit of a pit stop on our annual lad’s motorbike trip turned out to be a real find. Delicious food, attentive service and a creative menu meant we had great evening.

Excellent food with superb taste with friendly attentive staff. Not the cheapest restaurant but you get what you pay for and in my opinion probably the best restaurant in Kendal.

Fabulous evening meal at Sappore 😀 We both chose to have the Rib Eye Steak and can honestly say it was the best Rib Eye Steak we have had in a long time. Cooked to perfection 😀😀. Finished with home made Tiramisu….gorgeous. The staff very friendly and attentive. We will certainly be back.

Nice restaurant with friendly and efficient staff. We went at teatime so it was quieter. We had the special 2 for £20 menu. Good choice of starters, mains & desserts. Nice Pizza and really nice Gnocchi. Recommended.

Food was OK, being a fan of Italian food went for the carbonara with guancale (pork cheek) instead of the pancetta, but it wasn't as expected, not enough pork cheek and I'm guessing the cheese wasn't pecorino as it wasn't salty enough.

It was great! The food was great, service was great. Quiet and serene for conversations Had a 2 course dinner, a cocktail and some wine, so full price was about £50 per person.

I visited Sapore recently, as part of a group of 14. Before we arrived, Tom reached out to me to point out I had booked the sister restaurant - life saver! We had a lovely table upstairs and our food and drinks arrived quickly. Everyone was happy with their food, it was fresh and delicious. Really good value for money as well as options for vegans and veggies. Tom looked after our table and was so lovely and even went above and beyond to try and book us a taxi. Thanks to Tom and the rest of the team at Sapore for making my friend's hen party meal so special!

A lovely, welcoming and smart restaurant. The food is delicious and their servings are very generous (I shared my pizza with 3 others and STILL had more than enough for myself). They can happily adapt for dietary restrictions. The staff were polite, happy, efficient and helpful. A super evening, we'll definitely visit again. Thanks.

Absolutely nothing was too much trouble, it was quoted- if we have got the ingredients, why not?! We asked for penne Gorgonzola which wasn’t on the menu. The host, Alfonso, really took care of us. Highly recommended, delicious.

Good menu options and all food very good

A wonderful find with authentic Italian food. They care about the flavour here. We ended up having a calzone which was baked with the most delicious dough, packed full of ricotta cheese, and delicious meats. A bolognese sauce on the side. Absolute treat.

Booked and asked for a quiet romantic table. Obviously didn't even read booking as they tried to seat is in the middle of the restaurant, then next to a couple and then seated a coughing elderly man next to us. Service stayed poor throughout. Food was average at best, very bland a tasteless. For what it cost, it was very poor value. Even ignoring the high price there's better food and service in Wetherspoons.

5 out of 5. Food - delicious. Service - excellent. Ambience - authentic. I ordered the seafood pizza and what made it so special was the hints of lemon which complimented the squid, prawns, anchovies and muscles so well. The dough was cooked to perfection. The cake was light, airy, and warm, accompanied by the delicately flavored pistachio ice cream. I will definitely be visiting again.

The food was very plain my date had a carbonara and it was really bland I did get this taken off the bill that's why I have give 4 stars,but lovely place great atmosphere just a shame the food was bland I had the spag bol and had to have 6 spoons of parmesan on it just to taste something so overall great service and atmosphere just a shame the food was very bland

We had a great meal in a really lovely atmosphere after a long day out in the wind and rain of the south Lakes.

Had vegan cheese for vegan pizza and it was melty and tasty. Staff really helpful.

Absolutely delicious steak, wine and the service was spot on. If we are ever in the area again, we shall definitely be back!

Had a lovely meal out here with a friend. The service was super - the server we had was super attentive(a young woman). Unfortunately, I didn't manage to get her name and the food tasty. Would for sure visit again. Especially with the deal they have running!

24-12-2024 - update... Outstanding! I have updated my rating from 3-stars (with 3-stars for service) all the way to 5-stars. The food was still the great quality and freshly prepared as I'd experienced over the years. Generous toppings on fresh pizzas. Great looking and tasting lasagne. The anti-pasti platter was plentiful. Given it's been 9 months since my previous visit, the improvements to the customer experience has been vast. The staff were attentive, very friendly, and put bluntly... The polar opposite to my previous visit. Despite my previous comments about a service charge, I felt it was totally justified this time. Table service exactly as you'd expect and none of the "juggling" that seems to be the common practice in many restaurants (different size dishes randomly stacked and balanced with cutlery between) I witnessed none of that "juggling" and it contributed to a very pleasant evening. I now have had my confidence restored in Sapore when recommending restaurants in Kendal. I look forward to returning in 2025! 30-03-2024 - update... and it's not for the better. There appears to be a change of ownership, and compared to my numerous visits in 2023 it's fair to say, it wasn't the high standard I was used to. Firstly, the food was piping hot, freshly prepared and well worth the wait. But this has remained consistent. The starter arrived - spot on. Suddenly, the mains arrived, to our table full of crockery from the starters. The waitress proceeded to squeeze the pizzas around the already cluttered table, with expectation we'd stack our own plates! Totally unsatisfactory. I asked for the bill, to be presented with a charge for "GiftTree" that no one had the courtesy to ask me about. A charity donation I challenged, and didn't wish to contribute to. Secondly, a 10% service charge. For abysmal service. Our party of 3 people dining should be well within the realms of "normal" service, without incurring a service charge. I'm more than capable of collecting my food from the kitchen window myself. I fully understand the need for a service charge when a group of 8+ people all want to dine simultaneously. That puts extra pressure on the kitchen to deliver 8+ meals at once! ---- 2023 review ---- The food, service and atmosphere at Sapore has always been very pleasant. Nothing is too much trouble. The menu is full of delights but not your regular Italian restaurant stuff. You'll find hand made freshly prepared meals that aren't necessarily the quickest served, but you wouldn't want or expect them to be. Sapore served great quality dishes, at a fair price.

Really tasty cocktails and food, attentive but non intrusive service and a lovely atmosphere. Highly recommended!

Of the two times I've been there, I didn't like it either. The first was a completely flavorless risotto and the second was a steak full of fat. It doesn't refer to Italian cuisine, which is wonderful.

Possibley the worst carbonarra I have ever tasted The sauce was red salty luke warm and purely horrible The restaurant was cold with no atmosphere, ok it was Sunday in November but I would never return Waste of money the local shops carbonarra is much nicer

Distracted staff, didn’t even bother to take our order. We were waiting for about 25 mins to even order our drinks. Worst service ever!

A warm welcome by staff to the restaurant was followed by my calamari starter revealing a pleasing touch of spice accompanied by a bottle of Gavi. The main course of ravioli was superb. My wife similarly enjoyed her choices. The staff were attentive throughout and the general ambience was most relaxing. I would heartily recommend this restaurant.

Amazing, highly recommend if your looking for a good Italian

Staff were friendly, welcoming and kind. The atmosphere was nice and relaxed. The food was really good. The Margherita pizza was very good - dough was thin, light and airy with a crisp crust, good amount of sauce and cheese. The green beans and garlic side were simple and delicious. The torta caprese was meant to come with pistachio ice cream but had to be substituted for vanilla. Either way a very delicious desert.

What an experience, lovely place, lovely food, only spoilt by the guy on the next table coughing all the way through the meal. Just wanted to get out of the place but ended up waiting 20 mins to pay. Food was really good and I know the restaurant can't be responsible for their clients. They had obviously been on the place for ages as they had already eaten. Can't believe they hadn't noticed that this guy coughed so much. Put it down to experience.

Not bad food, lacking in seasoning. Glad we got a mid-week offer for £8.50 pizza/pasta otherwise it would have been overpriced. Decent portion sizes and friendly staff. Had to ask for the discount when we got the bill, as they had forgotten to add it on.

We arrived with less than hour before closing, this was not a problem, they were happy to serve us and the food was amazing,,, we played it safe as this restaurant was an internet search/find, so we had the carbonara and beef ragu bolognaise, with a wonderful pizza side, and honestly this is the best Italian food we have had.

I don't know why the rating is only 4.3 stars on google. The best Italian restaurant food we've had in a long while. Food was great, just like in Italy. Chef is from Naples. Service was good as well.

We arrived at sapore around 5.30pm tonight, very nice friendly staff greeted us on arrival. Seated very quickly, even tho we had no booking. A very nice gentleman went through the pastas with me to help me make the right choice. My husband and son had pizzas, which were in happy hour so was reduced price of 8.50. Absolute bargain, very delicious 😋 made fresh with fresh ingredients, you could just tell. I had pasta, with chicken and chritzo. Very lovely with a little kick. Very good selection of choice on menu for food and drink. All in all very happy with our visit we will be back. Thank you very much. Happy customers.

Although my friend and i arrived at 8:45, we were promptly seated and continued to have one of the best dining experiences i have ever had. Our waiter Alphonso was absolutely amazing and provided us with top-notch front of house service. Our food was incredible and the wine was to die for. Presentation and atmosphere was so calming and really provided us with a really comfortable environment to enjoy this amazing meal. Thank-you so much !!

Lovely relaxed venue with a friendly young team who made a fuss of our nine year old and great food. Pizza dough especially worthy of note, absolutely perfect crust consistency.

The grounds are lovely, vast garden with several really pleasant walks (each about 2 miles circular). A few games and activities laid on for kids which was good, and the house itself is beautiful, a good blend of the family and the estate's respective histories on display. Cafe was fine, but the service was chaotic to say the least. We put that down to how busy it was but we weren't the only ones having slight issues.

The best mussels i have tasted in awhile! The Braised Beef Ravioli were to die for! Ingredients were really fresh. Service was really attentive. Only thing was the grilled bread was burnt…grill bread for less time and it’s a complete winner! Plus it was my bday they gave us free limoncello shots😄

Charming Italian restaurant with a great selection on their menu. We tried two pasta dishes which were very generous in size for our mains but the homemade Neapolitan pizzas look very nice too. Great spot in Kendal for dinner!

Casarecce Gorgonzola was stunning. Can’t beat an affogato for afters either. Easy to recommend and they do a good value midweek meal offer.

Beautiful setting and great service from the staff-Alfonso especially good. The food was superb, all cooked fresh and so full of flavour. Even if you’re full, you have to try the desserts, especially the Millefoglie-you won’t regret it. Our first visit here on a friend’s recommendation but it certainly won’t be our last!

Surprisingly good Italian. We’ve been coming to this location in its last three iterations, but Sapore (the latest) is by far the best. Really helpful and friendly staff too

Decent enough food and service. Waiting staff were attentive and it's always good to see Chef at work in his kitchen. Calamari with chilli was interesting if a little chewy. Zucchini parmigiana was tasty, although the accompanying bread didn't appear until the waiter had been asked for it. The pollo milanese was good, but dry, and came with a very bland spaghetti al pomodoro. The background music wasn't too intrusive, and the seating utilises a long bench seat to accommodate four tables for two, in a row. Service was a little slow at a quiet time of evening. We waited for our mains just a fraction longer than felt comfortable. Overall it's a nice clean friendly restaurant and bar, and probably the best evening meal you'll find in Kendal. We did have a fairly thorough look before deciding where to eat. Note that the online menus are out of date and the 'Rateus' link appearing on their business cards refers to a prize draw that expired last year. There is a 'discretionary' 10 percent service charge already included on the bill.
